I went in and said“hello” but no answer. An old woman with red hair and lots of make up was cooking something so I waited for over 5mins standing but there was no “I’m going be with you” or “ pls wait a moment”. I said “excuse me” I thought sh might not noticed me. And she said me “WAIT!” I was quite surprised. Finally, she came to me and stood and looked at me (didn’t even say “what can I get you? Or anything friendly, welcoming feeling. I got some sweets and paid. She didn’t even say “thank you” It was a really shocking horrible experience! I’ve told all my friends so they don’t have same experiences.

Fonseca's is our favourite cafe because the food is good and the place just feels friendly and welcoming ─ children, well-behaved dogs, computer nerds. We have lived in Highgate for more than 20 years and it's the only place where the owner and regulars are now among our friends. In Covid times, we valued the spacing and ventilation. Other places have a larger menu but their coffee isn't as good, or they don't have the range of wines and presents (at Christmas), aren't as clean, or warm (or cool in summer). And they don't supply our bread and pastries...!

I happened to come across Fonseca's Deli when visiting a client close by and wanted a quick bite to eat. I had the most delicious salt beef sandwich with mustard on delicious bread and a lovely cappuccino. It was also reasonably priced! The owner was charming and I will certainly be returning for the same and whole heartedly recommend this cafe!

Fonseca’s is a really amazing deli, sit down restaurant & grocery store at the top of Archway road opposite the Highgate tube station exit on North London. They offer a wide selection of top quality European style food & drinks and much much more. The owner Fernando is a really great guy who runs his store with a warm and friendly approach. I highly recommend a bottle from excellent choose of wines coupled with a Portuguese chicken flattie (lemon & herb or Peri-Peri) and some freshly baked olive bread.

Continental sandwiches made to order, excellent coffee, hot chocolate etc. in a delicatessen setting with food off the shelf also available.

Foncseca's cafe deli is a delight in this part of Highgate. I have lived this way for 40 years and it is exactly what was needed. A gregarious patron, exceptional coffee and good food all served in a well lit well stocked deli.

I went there on a random visit to the area. I was exploring the cafes on the streets. This looked clean and casual so I stepped in. The guy made DIY salad for me and the best coffee I ever had. I went back after two days though it’s not on my way. I will definitely come here whenever I want to relax with a good cup of coffee. Highly recommended.

Standard deli sandwiches, not fresh and lacking creativity and soul. Clearly no investment in providing something of quality. Locals deserve better than this. Avoid.

Ordered medium spice, the thighs came really lemony they were too sour to eat. They sold corn on the cob and then said that the butter was sold out. Why would you sell corn on the cob without butter? AVOID

Kosta was really helpful and made sure the service did not drop at all while it was busy. Thanks again for a great dinner

Saw a review that said Kilim was no more.. is it true? I always take my Muswell Hill mates there when I'm in London. Have done for years. Great, authentic, flavoursome, no frills eating. Gutted if the news of closure is accurate.

What can I say? Another place that was great before has the bad food, especially the service. No ‘Hi’, no ‘thank you’. ‘How do you like your chips with salt or pepper?’ Nothing. Staff are more interesting in listening to music and talking in their language. Definitely never eating again and recommend.
