Fogo Bar & Kitchen in Birmingham

Fabulous food, friendly attentive staff, relaxed setting. My husband is Italian and we spend A lot of time eating great Italian food in Italy. Hard to find good Italian food in the UK but fogo was excellent. We were two families of 4 and all 8 dishes were first class. We will be back!!!! Grazie mille!!!!

Despite the high rating and reviews online, I will not return and definitely will not recommend this restaurant to any family and friends. The walk in experience was rather insulting and disappointing. Greeted by a young lady of poor manner, no hi hello but "you can sit over there" pointed at a table and chair without a courtesy smile and a drop of politeness. A menu was dropped on the table with some attitude. We sat waiting for 15 minutes, despite being very patient and constantly giving the look that we are read to order, both the staff and the owner seemed not to care but happy cleaning glasses, clearing other plates from other table, giving little glance as if we do not exist in their restaurant despite both of them knew we were ready to order. At this point, no one even attended for a drink order yet. We gave a few more minutes and decided to get up to leave after being ignored, and the owner came to open the locked door without a concern or an apology, this just re-affirmed that we definitely were not welcome. The "do not welcome business attitude" is very well noted hence this review made it to this page! The restaurant was not busy, merely 3 tables were seated. The lack of basic hospitality by the owner and staff would NEVER make up for the dining experience despite whatever quality of the food they offer. We ended up walking in Colbeh restaurant a few doors down and had the warmest greeting, fast service, polite and attentive staff and more important absolutely delicious food - this definitely made it up for the night. The lamb shank was just too good I forgot to even take the photo so just sharing the seabass. Highly recommended to try out this restaurant if Fogo does not welcome you!

I recently visited Fogo with my wife for the first time, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. From the moment we walked in, we were met with a cold attitude as we were directed to a specific table without any warmth or welcome. After sitting for 15 minutes without anyone attending to us, we made the decision to leave. Despite our efforts to exit, the staff's response lacked any acknowledgment or apology for the inconvenience. It's disheartening to see new customers treated with such disregard. We left feeling disappointed and offended by the lack of hospitality and basic customer service. Sadly, we won't be returning to Fogo and cannot recommend it to others; I'll make sure to tell this story to whoever intend to ever visit this restaurant.

Went out to Fogo for a celebratory evening with friends. The booking process was catered for at every step included the adding of additional guests to the original number. Preordering of food helped greatly with the service, meaning once we all arrived the food was served quickly including the pizzas that a few guests ordered was cooked within minutes. The service throughout was attentive and always on hand for the guests when it came to ordering drinks or requests. The atmosphere was fantastic and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by myself and all my guests. Definitely, a place I shall be returning to including my friends. Thank you for making the night perfect with your excellent service in the booking and the evening itself.

Called in on the off chance while staying locally. They were very friendly and welcoming, helpful suggestions on all the menu. Had a pizza and a glass of wine both of which were lovely. Would recommend to anyone staying nearby.

The food is fantastic. Been here a few times now and I'd highly recommend the spaghetti gamberoni. It's a tad overpriced, especially given the sub par location but enjoyed the experience nonetheless. Overall would recommend and possibly within top 5 italian restaurants in Birmingham imo.

Very good food in a nice dining area with knowledgeable staff on hand to explain the unknown. Something for everyone on the menu including children. Can highly recommend Fogo for authentic Italian food made to order. My only advise for them is to have a bottle of wine under £30 on the menu

The food was really nice and pleasant however the food was overly priced for no reason. The waitress was a young lady who has no manners and gratitude, she happened to make a mistake when giving our orders and rather than giving us 3 desserts, she gave us 2 desserts. And when we asked her why we didn’t get 3, she didn’t apologise and when she brought the 3rd dessert - the way she gave us the dessert was in a very rude manner I.e. she gave the dessert from behind me rather than from the side bearing in mind there was a decent amount of space by the side of me to give it but she clearly had the audacity to do this. I don’t understand how you run a business and when you make an error, it is in your hands to apologise to the customer and sort out the issue rather than making it into some high school drama.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect & I really have to be either extremely impressed or extremely disappointed to write a review. I’m happy to say I was so impressed. Great service. The food was amazing, well presented & great size. I’m going to take friends & family as I know they will love it as much as we did.

Genuinely one of the best Italian restaurants I have eaten this year! On a par with Fiume in Wolverhampton. Lovely, intimate place with a very high standard of food. Beautifully presented. The chef was happy to customise dishes on the menu to cater for the kids and vegetarians too. A hidden gem in Birmingham! (Consistently good too, based on my sister inlaw's experience!).

Incredible food by a incredible independent Italian restaurant. Have been here many times over the past few years and they have never failed to impress. Every worker in the restaurant has always delivered a top quality service with customers at their focus. The garlic bread was unreal. The calzone was even better! Full to the brim with toppings. It was so nice, I struggled to finish it but failing to do so was not an option due to the high quality meal.

This restaurant has some of the best modern Italian cuisine in the country and certainly the best in Birmingham. I’ve been time and time again because their food and service is so wonderful. The menu is simple with many past dishes some good pizza choices and a few different side orders. What the menu lacks in choice, is made up for knowing that everything that leaves the kitchen is bang on. The service you get is incredibly accommodating. Fogo will serve you a pasta you can’t refuse

This was a wonderful find. Small, friendly family run restaurant with AMAZING food. The flavour combinations of the pizzas and pasta was inspirational. Staff (were they all family?) were friendly and knowledgable about the food they were serving. Truly worth a visit or 3!

This is my most favorite restaurant in town. Our go-to local restaurant with high quality food, best pizzas, outstanding customer service, cozy environment, and clean. Fogo Never disappoints. Highly recommend it. :)

I went to Fogo three times in a row while I was here. The seafood risotto is amazing and fresh. I ordered Cosa Nostra Pizza two times, that’s how much I liked it. The meat here is delicious. And the waitress was very kind all of the times. Can’t wait to come back!

We were looking for an Italian restaurant while staying at a hotel close by. This was spot on. A small, family run restaurant. A warm welcome, nice ambience and excellent food. This restaurant is not cheap but the food was freshly prepared, good quality and delicious. Great for a special occasion.

Slightly on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for!! Amazing food!! Would definitely visit again if we were in the area!!

Unusually, left the booking to a friend for our group of four. Outside very inauspicious, on a dual carriageway. But we were expecting only a local Italian. So on looking at the menu, we gobsmacked by full on central London pricing. Like 42 quid for a main course. (OK it was the special lamb, but still not what we were expecting.) Anyway we are not especially price sensitive and were already sitting down and hungry, so decided to persevere. Good decision! Genuinely excellent food cooked to order, backed up by great service. Worth every penny. Fantastic octopus, prawns, and of course the lamb (!) It was only then we checked TA to find we were in one of the top 20 restaurants in Birmingham. Result! There is no cheap wine. Only good wine reasonably priced. The restaurant is small so they really need a high minimum spend and cannot waste tables on people coming in to share a garlic bread! But just ignore the face value, and enjoy. The four of us ate two courses each, shared two bottles of good wine, some free limoncello, and it was ~£260. So not actually bad at all. Can highly recommend

I was a regular since Fogo opened. I know both owners and we always been a loyal guests. This evening we came late for the dinner (at about 9 pm) knowing that restaurant closes at 10pm. We only had mains not to hold kitchen back. After mains - since I still had wine I asked for few slices of cheese - to be told that no one can slice us a few slices of cheese - reply? I am really sorry but when you spend over £100.00 for 2 mains and btl of wine and asking for a simple few slices of cheese - any one could cut a blooming cheese. No one even tried - I am sorry - I his is not what hospitality is all about. I am sorry but I am not coming back. Regards, Edgars.

The pasta dishes we were served were absolutely superb, both in quality and flavour, cooked perfectly! Great service. Highly recommended. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Fogo is a nice little Italian restaurant wth friendly staff. The pizzas and pasta are delicious and hot. Price-wise, the mains are about £20 and in today's market, well priced. My only gripe was £4.95 for a small bottle of coke. If it wasn't for that, 5 stars. You should go and experience tasty food but stick to tap water if you're on a budget.

Superb cuisine, high end italian style food. Quality ingredients, very talented chef. Great service. Pasta tasted amazing, flavours of every ingredient delicious. Would recommend and return.

Love this Italian run bt Greeks I think?? But they do it so well!!! I go to Edgbaston for cricket quite alot so always head for Fogo, twice on this trip. Usually go pasta/pizza on a two night visit & it was brilliant as ever, both meals. Not the cheapest place but I have NO problem paying for excellent food/service. Draught beer to boot!! I'll be back in a couple of weeks for an Ashes visit, two more trips here in a three night stay, for sure!! 10 out of ten, simple!!!

I went for the Lamb and a dish at near £40 for a main needs to be superb and this was, cooked pink and to perfection the lamb, a not insubstantial amount was all perfect, the dauphinoise potatoes were to die for. Everything was cooked to perfection. The two pasta dishes my partner and daughter ordered were of the same quality. Desserts, well, after settling on what we wanted (we wanted them all) we went for the Tirimasu and two of the ice cream dishes, all amazing. If you want a cheap meal, this isn't the place for you, if you want great service, great food and in a wonderful atmosphere then this is the place to come.

Best Italien food in the UK. We have been there already a few times, always for special occasions, and the food was always incredible! The staff is really polite and friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. If you want to treat yourself with real authentic Italian food, this is the place to go!

Perfect, not the cheapest but food, service and atmosphere is worth every penny.

Lovely service but food was ok. Too over priced. Sea bass was dry no sauce just the fish veg and potatoes! Same with the lamb, just lamb veg and potatoes. Chapters in Edgbaston is amazing in comparison.

Although this restaurant is not in the best of loaction don't let this put you off. Certainly worth a visit if you have never been. The portion size is decent, food tasted great was piping hot. Service was friendly, the ambience was lovely with the dim lightings would have been better if the candles were lit on all the tables as they were all left unlit! The setting of the restaurant is probably not in the best area of the Hagley Road but the food makes up for it, absolutely wonderful. The portions are huge, so think twice before having a starter! The down side is the prices for the drinks....

I attended with my daughters to celebrate a birthday. A beautiful restaurant, lovely decor and intimate. The staff were professional and friendly. What can I say about this fantastic restaurant, I cannot praise the staff highly enough for making my 50th birthday the best it could have been! We dinned in to give a try as we are Italian food lovers. Everything was delicious, especially the chicken soup. We were so pleased that we continued ordering online, not having the possibility to go in person. The lady manager/ waitress is one of a kind, except being very gentle and with manners she went above and beyond when we called at 10PM a day after I gave birth and ordered two chicken soup. She remembered us from the last time and despite being closed, she made the utmost to deliver the soup. Thanks from the heart!

We had the most delicious meal last night 19/12/22 celebrating our daughters 24th birthday. Superb food, service and atmosphere. We will be returning again now we know how good the food and service is.

Fogo's is the best Italian restaurant I've ever visited. We've dined here numerous times since they opened; the food and presentation is consistently excellent, whether it's an old favourite or a new dish. The service is very helpful and efficient, the staff welcoming and friendly, and the setting is stylish with a warm, cosy ambience. Perfect for every occasion. I can't recommend Fogo highly enough!
