Reservamos para una cita de cena con mi esposa y era tenía excelente comida y servicios disfrutamos de la noche, aunque era un lugar pequeño donde nos sentamos y caro un poco, pero seguía siendo genial 👍🏼 🙂

Luego la comida , una selección tan encantadora de platos de verduras, carne y pasta. Elegí el Agnolotti relleno de ricota y albahaca como mi principal y estaba absolutamente delicioso. Combinado con los lados hermosos (sí, los compartimos todos y estoy tan contenta de que lo hicimos) fue una comida perfecta. Compartimos un tiramisú y sí, probablemente se bebió demasiado alcohol. Totalmente recomiendo y estoy planeando nuestra visita de regreso

We ordered two starters, the focaccia and the gnocco frito with proscuitto. The focaccia was light and tasty, but the gnocco frito and the proscuitto were surprisingly tasteless. The pasta was the highlight of the meal - we ordered the tagliatelle ragu and truffle pasta which were both very flavourful. We opted for the half portions based on the advice from the server, and these were a little small, but if you are going to order meat/fish too this would be sufficient. Finally we ordered the steak and potatoes, which visually looked well-presented but unfortunately was extremely bland. The potatoes were meant to be seasoned with rosemary but lacked taste, and despite the steak being cooked medium-rare it was completely flavourless and we had to send it back. The service was overall attentive, but a bit overbearing when recommending amount of dishes and which to order. They were understanding when we returned the steak. We were offered a tiramisu at the end of the meal which was a kind gesture.

Went to Tropea for the first time for my birthday and it was definitely the right choice! Love the atmosphere and the little detail on the menu. The staff also offer us an extra piece of brownie after spelling my name wrong haha. Excellent service. Looking forward to return!

I just moved to England from New Zealand and this was the first restaurant I ate at - and it set the bar incredibly high! I dined alone and they were very accomodating about serving some dishes in a half size for me which was great. The truffle and parmesan tagliolini was one of the best pasta dishes I've had. Definitely recommend!

First time here for my boyfriends birthday and it is an amazing restaurant, stylish decor and a chilled but buzzy atmosphere. The main highlights of this place are the amazing dishes (truffle pasta is out of this world) but also how attentive the staff were to help celebrate his birthday. Thank you for such a memorable time.

Was extremely pleased with this restaurant and staff were very friendly from the moment you enter. I had some booking issues but was able to resolve them quickly through email and received a prompt call to follow my issue. The solution was clearly explained and made it easy to find an alternative. In terms of food, everything was delicious and well plated. Food came out in a timely manner and more surprisingly, menus also included a small message celebrating the occasion! Truly get a taste of every dish if you can but if not, get the Arancino and salt aged-beef fillet carpaccio for starters. For pasta, the linguine with red prawns was tangy and flavoursome but meat lovers would enjoy the Tagliatelle with venison shoulder ragu. The grilled octopus was delightful and meaty and balanced well with the roasted pumpkin with ricotta. Dessert is certainly difficult to choose but the tiramisu was wonderful, fluffy but also still maintained the coffee flavour well! The panna cotta was amazingly refreshing with rhubarb and wafer~ Only thing that isn’t really a negative but just funny was a slight change to my name but honestly made the experience more memorable. I really appreciate the effort and care in every detail to ensure comfort and ease whilst dining! Overall glad I came and shoutout to the team there for making this service amazing from beginning to end! You all deserve a lot of love 🫶🏼

Visitamos Tropea, después de haber recibido un vale para Navidad, después de haber tenido la intención de visitar durante un tiempo que era la oportunidad perfecta. Desde entrar en el restaurante el servicio fue impecable, recibido por el personal amable que era experto guiando a mi marido y a mí a través del menú con recomendaciones y consejos, incluyendo el consejo clave de dejar espacio para el tiramisú! El personal estuvo atento durante toda la noche ofreciendo un nivel de servicio perfecto. La comida era increíble empezamos con el filete de ternera carpaccio, que se derretía en boca, junto a Giardiniera (pepinillos caseros de temporada). Para la pasta compartimos la Tagliatelle, el ragu de hombro de venado y la fregola sarda, porciones perfectas para compartir. Luego compartimos la mejilla de cerdo estofada y el brócoli de tallo tierno de barbacoa y la ensalada de invierno, una vez más fue perfecto para compartir. Mi esposo tomó el tiramisú de postre, y se alegró de dejar espacio, ya que era el mejor Tiramisu que había comido. Recomiendo encarecidamente visitar Tropea, sin duda uno de los mejores restaurantes de Birmingham que he visitado.

My first visit for dinner and what a joy it was. The ambience of this place had me feeling right at home straight away, 90s music in the background, nice quiet table in low light, tantalising menu. My aperitif of choice was a very drinkable blackberry daiquiri, refreshing and set the tone for what I knew was going to be a good nights dining. Everything from the light and airy focaccia, to the venison tagliatelle was just done so well, every dish so favoursome and beautifully presented. Being a selection of small plates was perfect as you get to try so many more dishes. It's all wrapped up nicely in a casual, modern setting, set off with attentive and engaging staff. It was a big bill at the end of the night but we were at the top end of gluttony, after waiting over a month to get here, and given all the hype, when it didn't disappoint the only thing was to go full in. I can see that you could have a far less expensive night out if you applied some restraint and stayed away from the cocktails. Can't wait to come back again and try the few things we didn't order off the menu on this occasion.

Really nice experience of cicchetti-like dishes, with knowledgeable staff and really tasty food. Hit me up when you've got some scaloppine al limone on the menu and I'll be straight back.

Absolutely one of my all time favourites. Every time I bring new friends here they talk about the delicious food and the fantastic personal touches to the service. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, the drinks and the food are delicious. Inventive, brilliantly crafted small plates and the most incredible fresh gluten free pasta I’ve ever eaten. I love the refurb and the new space in the restaurant and bar - can’t wait to come back!

Second time visiting this restaurant and 1st time after the refurb. The refurb is definitely made the whole experience much better as there is so much more room. You can see from the picture we were sat in a new booth which was nice. The food like the 1st time was very nice, the honest review is that it all tastes fresh. Waiters are very helpful to advise how many dishes to get and which dishes are popular. There was even a special dish that we ordered that was not on the menu. Trying to find parking can be an issue. There are vegetarian options however the menu does not state which are therefore you need to ask, it would be ideal if the menu had the (v) or (vg) next to the dish.

We had a fantastic New Year’s Eve dinner here with family & friends. The food was exceptional& plentiful. The staff couldn’t do enough for us . Excellent customer service & the tastiest food.. highly recommend

This restaurant is amazing. I was meant to write this review back in January 2024 following a wonderful dining experience on Friday 5th January 2024, my partner had proposed to me earlier in the day and he had booked Tropea for the evening meal. Firstly the staff, they were incredible! As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with such excitement and joy about our engagement. Throughout the evening all the staff were friendly and attentive to us, making us both feel so extremely special. Secondly the food, each dish was incredibly unique and delicious. It's been a year on and I still think about the venison ragu. Thirdly the environment and atmosphere was relaxed, cosy and warm - perfect for us! Thank you Tropea for such a wonderful dining experience and making our engagement absolutely perfect. We are looking forward to visiting again this month.

The restaurant was buzzing and soon we could see why. This was our first time but we were made to feel at home, the menu explained to us and any questions answered without fuss.The starters were exceptional and the mains really well proportioned and delicious. Service was quick, attentive but not intrusive in this busy Harborne restaurant. We loved it and heartily recommend the experience.

The quality of the food/ingredients is amazing. Even seemingly “simple” dishes are just bursting with flavour. The service is friendly and attentive, but relaxed and the new refurb is absolutely stunning. Ordered slightly too much and no regrets! Had the the burrata, arrancina, gnocchi and broccoli&pumpkin. Stunning all round.

Our first visit to tropea and we will definitely be back! The food was incredible, the burrata and mussels were particularly amazing, as well as the tiramisu. The atmosphere is lovely in there and the servers are all so knowledgeable and attentive, the service from Asher was particularly great! Went with my partner for our Christmas meal and it was absolutely fantastic. Great food, attentive but not overbearing service, delicious drinks. Simple dishes but exceptionally tasty. We ordered 2 antipasti, 2 half-sized pasta dishes and 2 mains, and I had a dessert, which was a good amount of food. If you go soon the venison ragu is a must-try!

I think this is my favourite restaurant in the UK! The food is incredible. The service is outstanding, the staff cannot do enough for you. The owner is so nice, sorry I don't know his name but he recognises me every time I visit, and although I'm not a local I would always make an effort to visit here if I'm in Birmingham, it really is an amazing experience every time.

Visited last night for my partner’s birthday, this was our first visit. Warm welcome from the bar staff and relaxing, enjoyable Drink before taking our table. Busy even though it was only 7pm with a Good atmosphere. We ordered 6 plates to share including excellent beef carpaccio and Duck tagliatelle, carafe of red to accompany. All the food was excellent and the service too, we enjoyed it immensely. It is a little on the pricey side but I cannot fault the whole experience.

Visited for the first time this week with my husband after wanting to try Tropea for quite a while but never quite making it. Can safely say we will be back before too long. Firstly the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate (and we ordered plenty), which is rare. I struggle to pick a favourite between the pastas we tried (duck ragu and a truffle pasta). Oddly the cabbage that came with the braised pork cheek was one of the most delicious elements. And the butternut squash arancino was definitely a favourite. For dessert I had cannoli which was delicious without being overly sweet. My husband had a giant piece of tiramisu which he said was excellent. Secondly the service was just brilliant. Perfect balance of friendly and attentive without being over the top. The guy who primarily served us was very professional but also came across as really genuine and enthusiastic about the food. Finally the blackberry daiquiri was lovely, really tart and refreshing. Considering the quality of food and service I also felt it is very fairly priced. 5/5 will be back.

A somewhat different style of dining, meals are made to be shared between the table which is a little unusual. It’s not for everyone but it’s an interesting concept. Food is nicely presented but can feel small depending on what and how you order it. All in all a decent restaurant with nice food but elements could be off putting to the unaware. Study the menu before attending.

El espacio puede ser más grande, pero han resistido la tentación de cuidar en muchas mesas, y la comida es tan buena como siempre, con un servicio amable y eficiente. El carpaccio, la burrata y el ragu de pato eran excelentes, al igual que los ñoquis, pero la porción de ñoquis era mucho más pequeña que la porción de ragu. La casa blanca era buena, al igual que el Primitivo. No sorprende que sea igual de difícil conseguir una mesa - ¡reserva con anticipación!

Tropea went above and beyond to accommodate my autistic partner, creating a calm and welcoming environment that made him feel at ease—something that rarely happens when dining out. The staff were patient, thoughtful, and truly cared about our experience. The food was amazing, but the outstanding service is what will keep us coming back. Highly recommend!

Great great authentic considered ingredients and dishes! Echo the other reviews and their accolades are well deserved. All so delicious and well balanced and couldn't fault it, every dish was spot on.👌👌👌Service too, well looked after. Birthday touches for my Dad were really lovely! Recommend and will be a regular and bringing people again again! Updating my review and knocking points off for food on third visit today. I found the duck ragu lacking in meat... plus I had 2 small pieces of potato in the monkfish dish. Delicious but maybe not to have bothered with potato element or a suggestion to get a side shag would have been better. Also, lovely menu mention for my friend's birthday but no plate with a greeting. Bit sad. Otherwise, rest was great. Starters, dessert, drinks, service on point. Thanks Tropea!

An incredible restaurant. The food is fantastic and more importantly for me as an autistic person that struggles with loud environments they were superbly accommodating, making sure that I was comfortable, even seating us in the quieter bar area. I’ve never felt so welcomed and cared for in a restaurant, I cannot recommend this place enough.

EDIT: The owner, Ben, reached out to me regarding my review below (on the same evening too, which I thought was impressive!). He was very apologetic which I deeply appreciated. While my opinion of the food being just 'fine' remains, I must say that the hospitality shown here is practically second to none. Certainly had the portion sizes been halved, I would have had a better experience here. Should I return to Birmingham in the future, Tropea will definitely be on my radar! The food was fine, but not worth the price. Also, 3 dishes would have been more than enough for one person (I was recommended 5).

Myself and wife came for our 2 year wedding anniversary and her 30th birthday and could not have been more impressed. The food was exquisite, the atmosphere was romantic and close and the service was second to none. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Tried out this place for the first time and were extremely pleased that we did. Every dish we ordered was superb and the service was top notch too. We were sat by the bar as we walked in without reservations and the main dining area was already full. Would definitely be returning again and next time we will book ahead.

We always wanted to go to tropea, but we live over 30 minutes away. Finally we found the opportunity to go and we were not disappointed!!! The place is beautiful, the staff is very attentive, great with the recommendations and very knowledgeable. Food was beautiful, we love the idea of sharing and ordering half portion of pasta (as we could try more than one) Desserts and coffees were great too (best cannolli ever, so crispy) Great wine list. Staff are great here and they were really good at fitting us in last minute for our wedding anniversary. Lovely personal touches with a special anniversary message on the menu & a personalized dessert. Food was amazing, especially the pasta dishes (we had the duck & ravioli). A hidden gem! This place is absolutely amazing.!! We came to celebrate my husbands birthday tonight and all the little touches they did was so so lovely. The menu had the date on and a happy birthday message and they also gave him a happy birthday plate for dessert. We thought that we wouldn’t be full after the meal but we was surprised how full you get with sharing food. The starters were just delicious- would 💯 recommend the salt aged beef 🤗. The pasta - would 💯recommend trying the Sardinian fregola, it was something we had never heard of and tasted heavenly. All the food was just to die for. The Tuscan ribollota was comfort in a bowl - the grilled monk fish - exquisite🤩. We will definitely be back. 🤗🤗 The service 10/10 Lizzy you was amazing 🤩

Tropea has a relaxed neighborhood vibe, but its also perfect for a special occasion. If you get booze/ dessert allow for around £60 a head- its well worth it. Will return x

Tropea has re-opened after 6 weeks of renovation. It is safe to say that Ben and Kasia are back with a bang with their fabulous restaurant even better than before which is no mean feat. The same delightful atmosphere, lovely ambience and fantastic staff remain but the addition of the sumptuous bar area takes Tropea to another level. We were greeted with the a warm welcome and were really impressed with what they have achieved in such a short space of the time. From the outside, the restaurant is even more inviting than before with the bar area looking warm and welcoming on what was an otherwise very rainy evening. The food and drink continue to wow and we were treated to a well paced evening of great food. The favourites were the really perfect pork cheek and spatchcocked chicken. But to be honest everything is great and we look forward to returning again to try the rest of the food! Thank you to all the staff for such a pleasant dining experience and congratulations on making what was already so good even better.

Amazing, love this restaurant and the staff are so friendly. Been a couple of times in recent weeks and noticed changes to the menu, fantastic and would 100% recommend.

My husband and I visited on 6th September with a table booked for 8.45. This is small intimate restaurant which has its own charm. We are locals and feel this type of eatery was needed in this location. We arrived slightly early and were shown to our table - I requested another table and the waiter happily relocated us to a table with a glass divider. Table was great and there was privacy. Service is excellent - our waiter talked us through the menu and made recommendations. He also recommended an excellent bottle of wine based on our menu choices. We didn't feel rushed, service wasn't intrusive and plates/cutlery were changed after each dish (when necessary). Food was delectable. In particular The Burrata and Focaccia, Monkfish and Raspberry Salad. This restaurant isn't pretentious in the slightest, but the service , menu and atmosphere and menu gives the feel of a high end eatery – will definitely return and highly recommend.

Food was lovely Service was not Like similar reviews on here we were also pushed to have multiple dishes (although we came for a late lunch we weren't hugely hungry) we ended up ordering 3 small dishes and 2 mains instead of the 6/7 dishes your encouraged to order. And the dishes are not as small as made out we were full by the end of our meal, didn't have room for dessert. Not that we were asked. In fact no body bothered asking how our food was or if we wanted anything else throughout our meal.

We could not have felt more welcomed, all the hosts made us feel like we were old friends visiting. It was my partner’s birthday, and they went out of their way to make it special, beyond special. The food was creative and elegant, and delivered to perfection. Had the best time, thank you so much for your expertise; could not recommend more!

We've dined 3 times at Tropea now and each time the food and service have been exceptional and we've absolutely loved our experience. I have a severe peanut allergy and every time the team at Tropea are so professional and thoughtful with allergies and are happy to run through dish ingredients and offer adjustments - in fact they called us in advance when we visited most recently check my comfort with nut presence on the tables / in my partners dishes. We so appreciate the effort the Tropea team go to make us feel assured that they take allergies seriously - and it enables us to enjoy eating such amazing food in a lovely setting all the more

5* from start to finish. Stand out dishes; the Monkfish tail, Squid ink risotto and fried courgette flowers. All the team make you feel like you’re at home, from the minute you enter to the moment you leave. You would be hard pressed to find better in Birmingham. Absolutely will be returning! *Cocktails, even those not on the menu, were delicious!

The food, atmosphere and service at Tropea is always brilliant. One of my favourite restaurants in the city and the standards are always so high. Very impressed and highly recommend!

Simply the best food in and around Harborne. My favourite place .

The restaurant was able to accommodate my husband and I for a last minute booking which we appreciated. Based on the high reviews, the food and desert did not disappoint. The only let down was the constant upselling from our waiter. As someone working in marketing and sales, it’s easy to “read the room” when a customer isn’t interested. But on this occasion, our waiter would go as far and explain the menu is designed to order from each section to give time for the next dish to be prepared. I explained I had a late lunch and was happy to share one antipasti as we waited for our main meal. He still asked if we wanted two instead. In all my years of dining, I’ve never found a restaurant that insisted on having more than what is asked for. This review isn’t to deter anyone from visiting, the food was delicious but prepare to be pushed to get more than what you clearly asked for and firmly push back if it’s not what you want.

A mouthwatering experience from start to finish. Some great and surprising combinations in some of the dishes just absolutely work….Burrata with grilled peach just one fabulous example. Went out for daughters birthday nice place, food great but way to expensive plus a 25% service charge, parking is also an issue, I'm not a tight wad but £4.50 for tap water!

Tropea is a good place for a nice meal out and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and in particular, the Cornish squid risotto & tiramisu. They were all excellent with the exception of the very vinegary panzanella. A bit on the pricy side but we think it is worth it.

Another amazing meal at Tropea, and this time for a graduation. The lovely staff always make you feel welcome, with a complimentary glass of fizz for each of us for the occasion.

Ok 2nd visit here despite us booking an early table service & atmosphere was great . Relaxed what’s not to like Attention to detail with a personalised menu & pudding for my friends birthday Menu was so tasty We had a fabulous evening Despite eating plenty of food & certainly a few bottles of wine didn’t feel full, but in a good way . My taste buds were certainly satisfied I would recommend I would revisit 5⭐️

Outstanding food, as good as anything you'll find in a high end restuarant in Italy. Authentic flavours, and everything was cooked to perfection. The squid risotto, in particular was outstanding. I'm itching to go back and try the rest of the menu.

My favorite restaurant in Birmingham. Thank you to the owners and staff. Please never change. Everybody, make sure they dont change. I am swept off my feet everytime i come here. Its beyond unique and so flavorful every step of the way.

UPDATE - I would like to add that since posting my review, the owner of Tropea has reached out to me. I received a very honest response from him and his apologies for our experience. He said that they have listened to customer feedback and the issues raised have now been resolved. I shall definitely be revisiting, as I said in my review the food was really delicious. We just ended up with far too much! So please do not let my review put you off trying Tropea. I had been really looking forward to trying Tropea, especially as it seems to always have such fantastic reviews. Our experience was not so great, I felt that we were upsold at every opportunity. I wanted to order a couple of things to share and I said that I wouldn’t want a main after the pasta course but the waitress was insistent that we hadn’t ordered much and that the portions were small. We took her advice, not at a small price I should add, and as a result we ordered far too much food. Although the starters and the pastas were excellent, we found the two main dishes rather underwhelming. We didn’t eat these, we did ask to take them home, they ended up in the bin though as neither of us really fancied them the next day. It’s a shame, because we did really enjoy the rest of the meal and I would probably go back and stand our ground this time. It just really felt like we were being squeezed for every penny we had, not a pleasant experience.

We’ve been waiting to try this place for SO long. Finally managed to get a table for my partner’s birthday and honestly could not have faulted the place. A quaint little restaurant, tucked away in Harbourne. The staff, ambience, and of course the food were all impeccable. Even down to the personalised menu (see photo)! We opted for many small plates, including the burrata, focaccia, prawns, ragu, artichoke just to name a few and every dish was smashed out of the park, you can taste the freshness of each ingredient. The wine was incredible and the staff helped us pair a bottle perfectly with our meal. The price point is incredibly reasonable, for the quality of food and service received. Thank you to all at Tropea, easily one of my favourite spots in Birmingham.
