Great refurbishment, ordered 2 plated roasts, the food has massively improved, a lovely Sunday roast.

Stopped in for a Guinness after a long day of work and a lad named Kurt set me up with a proper pour, even had a clover in it! 10/10!

Went for lunch with family ,it's a really beautiful pub restaurant after the refit.we had to wait 40minutes for our meals as it was busy and there were not many staff.we had a problem with one meal that was deal with quickly and professionally.we really enjoyed the whole afternoon and happy with everything ,will be happy to visit again.

The flying squirrel is looking very smart since it's new re fit, myself and my husband were very impressed by the separation of the family area and drinking area. The new menu has plenty to choose from and we both enjoyed our food. The staff were all helpful and accommodating. Liv went above and beyond to sort out a mix up on our part with our food order, she was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again.

Absolutely lovely visit to the recently refurbished Flying Squirrel to celebrate my late mum's heavenly birthday. Her last birthday with us was also spent here so it holds many special memories for us. The new decor is beautiful and on trend while still homely. The lovely and patient bar man Jamie served our family and was nothing but reassuring and helpful when my elderly dad was having difficulty with his debit cards, I ordered a drink he hadn't made before, my 7 year old nephew had a massive meltdown and my sister kept changing his food order...not to mention all paying separately on the same order. I wouldn't have had his patience that's for sure!!! Food was lovely as always. Thanks for a great evening and hope to see you all again soon.

The refurbishment looks lovely, could do with signage in the foyer to point out which way to the bar or the dining area. Food has improved massively, it had got very poor over the years and on previous visits you were lucky if you got what you chose on the menu ! Through this we went elsewhere on many occasions but The Squirrel has redeemed itself in my eyes. Polite and welcoming staff too Really enjoyed our visit

Me and my dad came in for food the server Jamie gave brilliant service and was a nice bloke and the cooks Allison and Emily did a fantastic job with our meal my dad really enjoyed his steak and said it’s the first time a restaurant cooked his steak properly when asking for well done.

We enjoyed spending time in flying squirrel. There is a playground which girls liked very much . Thank you ❤️

The service is great, the staff are warm and welcoming, the new decor of the pub is amazing, perfect for families with children and adults dining alone, I would highly recommend coming here. Kurt was an exceptional server, he was polite and friendly. The young lady Liv who brought me my food was polite and bubbly, the people who work behind the bar and in the kitchen are amazing people, I highly recommend this pub to everybody!!

A nice and friendly well run pub. Just had a recent re-fit and looks really nice Sports bar on entry and family dining area to the right. A very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Sunday roast meals looked really well presented and service was of a high standard. As always exceptional service from Danielle today....a lovely young lady with a warm and friendly manner with a welcoming smile and greeting. Very helpful and customer orientated. I came to flying squirrel for the loaded fries and the halloumi fries, I 100% recommend these, loads of topping on the loaded fries and was all cooked very nicely. I was given the food by Jamie, very well mannered boy and looks like he’s working hard. The training paid off very well as they all look like they know what they are doing and seems to be picking everything up just fine. I recommend coming to flying squirrel !! Very nice restaurant

Just had mixed grill, qualilty food and plenty of it, Same applies to wifes fish and chips. Looks good after refit. Would reccomend.

My meal was OK but my husbands was dreadful he had a mixed grill asked for steak rare when it came it was burnt.we also waited 45 mins for our meal

I came for tea with my mum. I had gammon and chips, It was very good I also got served by this woman called Kelly. She was so kind and checked up on us to see if our food was nice 10/10 recommend 💯😋

Having previously came and been disappointed when they reopened I decided to give them another shot and I’m glad I did ! The food was beautiful we came around 5pm on a Saturday and it was nice and calm the staff were friendly and helpful, it was clean and welcoming. I ordered through the barcode scanner and it made it so simple for me however the option to order at the bar is still available. Thanks to Alex Blake for a lovely dinning experience at the Flying squirrel

The new renovations are amazing ! The pub now looks very modern . The pub itself is very inviting and so are the staff ! The staff are so friendly and are always up for a chat ! The food was very nice . We had the roast dinner on Sunday (specifically the turkey) and it was cooked beautifully, so juicy and flavourful. The roast potatoes were also crispy and fluffy . Overall it was an amazing experience and we will definitely be coming back .😌

I visit here often with my family and always have a lovely visit! The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. The pubs new look is really nice, I like how they have seperated a family restaurant side which is more relaxed and then there's a sports area with a more vibrant atmosphere. On my recent visit I ordered the cowboy burger which was really good! There is a good selection available on the menu with vegetarian and vegan options also available. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to returning again soon.

Food was stale and old we waiting a hour after 2 people had ther food on our table to get ours wouldn't recommend at all have a microwave dinner instead

Service was quick considering how busy it was, seated straight away without a wait. Food was good, much better than last visit (change of management since then) good pricing and portion sizes, all staff pleasant and happy to talk/help overall very good for a quick, reasonably priced meal.

Group of us went for some food and drinks after work. Food was spot on but pints were quite pricey at £6+ for a local pub! Would visit again though, quiet atmosphere midweek.

Asked for the mega mixed grill no sorry we've no steaks, ok can I have the curry yes no problem.it tastes like the fresh deli curry's from morrisons which I like was not hot and the naan bread was like rubber and dry never again

Firstly the toilets had not been cleaned,Apparently a member of staff had called in sick/management and staff stood around ,This is 11.45 am. Ordered food £15.00 each for a burger /overcooked chips/topped with greasy bacon and where the crispy onions 🌰 had been put i never found them,Shockingly bad food /overpriced drinks 🍸 and a mouthy member of management. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AVOID, AVOID.

Jamie and his staff are amazing, Jamie is wonderful helpful and so keen to make any one welcome, his staff are extremely good, food is very good, also Jamie does a bingo session one day a week, he is very good and everyone enjoys his banter its such good fun, we shall Miss him when he's left, he is a must to run a pub successfully and Marstons must be mad to let such a good, hardworking person move on,

A great place for a family meal, we went on a Monday evening and it was quiet and peaceful. Food did not take long to get out and was great quality !!

We do go here quite a bit as it is close to where we live. But today we took our family. There was 4 adults and a child. Honestly the best food we have had for ages and that’s including other places. We all got different and we all commented how good it was and we all got something different. The men got the ultimate spicy burger. It was big and they loved them. Everything red hot. I got the lasagne. One of tastiest I have had. Other got bbq chicken baguette was more like a sub but was lovely. Child hot fish finger and again all good. Definitely recommend

Jamie was excellent. Really looked after me and the family and made a fuss of my dog which means alot to me. It often leaves me worried that she will be disruptive but he was great. Thank you

Three of us booked a table for dinner on Saturday evening. We used the app to order and pay, which was very simple to do. The drinks arrived quickly, as did the starters shortly afterwards. The plates were cleared and the mains were brought soon after. All the food was well cooked. We then ordered dessert which were again promptly provided. Overall a very enjoyable experience. The staff were friendly and attentive

This week the starters and meals were very good but last week the hunters chicken was overdone dry and chewy and bacon too well done. A friend this week had this dish and it was spot on. I had the chicken and bacon bbq baguette which included chips and it was lovely and good value. My husband had the gammon which he really enjoyed. The squirrel is one of our favourite places to eat.

Fabulous evening spent with friends, lots of food choices & arrived quickly. Staff really helpful & made a great atmosphere.

We went on bank holiday Monday 1st April to do the Easter crafts, it’s was very well organised, lots of craft goodies out for the children including hats, Ribbon and little chicks, plus many more items, our children really enjoyed it.. the team was on hand to lend a hand and nothing was to much for them at all, the dark haired lady was lovely, very helpful and fun with the children… and I have to say the food was a lot better than on previous occasion, well cooked and served quickly… They seems to be new management members? But well done to them as the service was exceptional enough staff on and no waiting around for drinks and food like there normally was, seems much more organise and customer service was amazing they even put on the disco lights and children’s mini disco in which the children loved. Thank you for making our bank holiday a special one.. we will be back on the 13th for race day. Amazing team, amazing food with good entertainment just what we needed 👍xx

When to Flying Squirrel today for lunch after church service with my dear Sister. It is a place I do like going because the staff are friendly, so helpful and it is a warm, cosy and accessible place for me being a permanent wheelchair user. Today one of the staff member that I had not met before was exceptional in her delivery of service to me today, and her name is Kelly. Whilst Kelly was serving a customer in front of me, I was next on the queue to be served but another staff said who's next? Someone else jumped in before me and Kelly stepped in to tell her colleague that I was next. I did offer to wait and when Kelly was free and served me, she apologised and after taking my order and payment, Kelly looked after my Sister and I on our table throughout whilst doing other things, making sure we were alright and the food was OK for us. Kelly was quick to respond to my 'excuse me' when we needed some things on our table, and she helped to make sure I wrapped my remaining sweet potato fries very well and turned it into a takeaway. As I said before, all the staff are so friendly and caring, good customer service and attention to detail. I remember Michele bringing our food to our table and she made sure we had all we needed at the time before she lift, Kelly just stood out exceptionally, the way she stood up for me and made me feel comfortable throughout my duration at Flying Squirrel really made the whole experience more beautiful. Thank you Kelly, God bless you, and just as you valued me as an individual and made me feel important, God will value you, remember you and make you fruitful, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Fancied a jacket for lunch but not on Sunday. Shared a Sunday dinner which Scott went out of his way to sort for us, over and above. All bar staff were extremely helpful and friendly too.

We recently had a birthday party for our son’s 7th birthday at the Flying Squirrel, and it was an absolutely superb experience! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Jamie and his fantastic team, who went above and beyond to make the day special. The party was set up with a fun disco and balloons that the kids absolutely loved, and we were given a well-organized, spacious section with plenty of seating for everyone. The food selection was excellent, catering perfectly to both children and adults alike—a thoughtful touch that really stood out. The highlight of the day was when Jamie brought out a birthday cake with candles lit, creating a magical moment for our son. The smile on his face was priceless and something we’ll treasure forever. A big thank you to Jamie and the Flying Squirrel team for making our son’s 7th birthday so memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to host a fun-filled celebration in a warm and welcoming atmosphere!

Carvery food was tepid to cold. Could have had turkey with a salad.This was 3rd visit and same complaint. Wont risk it again.

No leadership or management presence. Demoralized directionless staff. Any effort expended is targeted at bemoaning why things are awful rather than fixing them.

We booked The Flying Squirrel for the wake after my mums funeral. I spoke to Becky the week before and told her what we wanted. When we arrived a section of the pub had been reserved for us. We chose to order off the menu with a few opting for the carvery. Even though there were a lot of different dishes ordered all the meals were out within 10 minutes from the first to the last. The food was really really delicious. We then all ordered desserts which were all brought out at the same time. The service was exemplary and I really can’t thank Becky enough for the professionalism and more so the kindness she shown us on a very difficult day. Once again thankyou so so much it really was appreciated.

On a whim, we booked my step daughter's 18th here in late October. As well as the pub being excellently decorated for Halloween, the staff (especially Becky & Jamie) went above and beyond to dec the pub out for her 18th. They made a shy teen feel center of attention without being overwhelmed. All our guests said the food was good and the service was excellent. I can't say enough about how well they treated us, 100% recommend, we'll definitely be returning.

Booked in for 6 pm for a carvery only to be told all the food had run out so no roast dinner I don’t think this is acceptable I have been a chef for over 40 years and I have never come across this before if you can’t supply what’s on the menu you should not be offering it there is nothing on the menu saying the carvery stops when the meat runs out it should not run out this is not good this is the last time I will set foot in that pub not happy

The food was hot and ok. There were 3 meats to choose from. What I will never understand with carveries is, when the veg is clearly past its best why not remove it from sale? Prices are significantly higher than stated on website. I had a pint of carling which was £4.95!!!!! The place looks fairly new from the outside but is quite rundown on the inside. Beer garden was spacious and clean. Good parking. The staff very loud when talking to each other which became a bit annoying as that was all I could hear. Would I go again? Probably not, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to go again.

Had a lovely carvery and dessert at the flying squirrel. Would definitely recommend to anyone for a family meal. Becky was absolutely lovely and made went out of her way to make sure our 2 little girls had everything they needed (high chairs and baby spoons)

The food was nice and there was a variety of meats and when they ran out of pigs in blankets at the buffet they brought extra to the table, Becky was good and we got a free scoop of ice cream for the baby.

Becky accommodated all 15 of us, ensuring everyone was fed and happy. The food was excellent. Would highly recommend.

The food was lovely, but I had a Blue Light voucher that specified a discount all day and every day, and I was told it could not be used at the weekend as that was down to the manager's discretion. This was not mentioned in the T and C's.

Millie was amazing. Her 2nd shift (first proper one after her trial) she went above and beyond and didn’t lose her cool on a busy Friday evening. We were a table of about 25+ and although the wait was long for food and the carvery was taken off for a duration whilst it was too bus, it was a nice place to get together and Millie was good at handling our needs.
