The food is always very good, simple for my tastes but good, quality is great, service is generally attentive but when busy there can be a wait. Drinks are great as long as you stick to the house cocktails. Atmosphere is friendly and approachable and as we have become regulars we feel remembered every time we go. I wholeheartedly recommend

Ordered the harvest bowl for lunch. Extremely disappointing. It was like eating sawdust—a bowl of mostly plain quinoa with a sprinkling of dried squash, dried chick peas, bland cauliflower and overcooked falafel. Tasteless and overpriced.

I love going to Terrain! I especially like to bring friends and watch the expression on their face as they walk in! Your eyes are greeted by amazing displays, many are seasonal. There is a plethora of items to see: real plants; terrariums; dishes; houseware; candles; lotions; home decor; etc. Of course you want to stay for lunch! The menu is unusual and fresh. You can even get breakfast for lunch and you can choose to eat inside or out. The service is great too. Suggestion: Go online or call for a reservation or else you may not get in. Terrain is one of my favorite places to visit!

What a lovely spot for brunch! I love that the cafe is inside a store full of plants and house products which created almost a greenhouse setting. The food AND drinks were absolutely delicious and very prettily played. The bread is baked and served in a pot and the apple butter is to DIE FOR! I order the chickpea shakshuka and it did not disappoint at all. Our server was also very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting too. I would definitely return.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Don't let the name "Cafe" make you think it's nothing less than a great restaurant. The place is pretty, a lot of plants, and good decorations. The service was stellar. Funny waiter, with good suggestions, and prompt service. I was impressed by how fast each dish and drink came out. The food was great. Appetizers were excellent. The garlic hummus was the star of the night. I had a chicken pot pie and it's my favorite chicken pot pie I've ever had. Not overly heavy as they usually are. Instead it was like eating a nice thanksgiving turkey. Dessert was good too.

Horrible take out experience. Food was 20+ minutes late, staff was obnoxious and unhelpful, two items were missing from my order, staff dropped one item on the floor contaminating but still put it in the bag with my other items, contaminating them as well, thinking that I didn’t notice. Totally horrible experience

We had such a lovely time at Terrain Café! We were lucky enough to snag a table outside, and I loved the charming touch of incense lit among the plants—it really enhanced the vibe. Despite the place being quite crowded, the service was exceptional. Our server was kind, knowledgeable, and handled the rush with ease, making sure our experience was smooth and enjoyable. A true pro! There were two of us, and the amount of food we ordered was just right—satisfying but not too heavy. We started with the complimentary milk bread and seasonal butter, which arrived in an adorable terra cotta pot. For our meal, we ordered the Beet & Burrata Salad, which was fantastic. The crunchy puffed amaranth and pickled shallot were a great touch. We also had the Shakshuka, which was fresh and satisfying. We originally wanted to try the Short Rib & Egg, but it had already sold out by the time we got there—so if you're interested in that dish, make sure to arrive before noon! Instead, we opted for the Terrain Burger. The meat was delicious, though I personally would have liked a bit of aioli. Luckily, dipping the burger into the Shakshuka was a genius solution! For drinks, I had the Masala Spiced Chai Latte and a London Fog. The chai latte was a bit on the sweeter side, likely due to the honey but the London Fog was perfect—the ideal balance of milk, tea, and just a touch of sweetness. After our meal, we wandered around the shop and did our best not to splurge on all the skincare products and plants. The whole concept of Terrain Café is adorable, and the building is beautifully maintained and decorated. As Atlanta locals, we were so happy to have discovered this place and are already looking forward to making it a regular stop whenever we’re in town. // I couldn't leave town without trying the Short Rib & Eggs at Terrain, so I came back for breakfast, and I’m so glad I did! Arriving at 10 AM, I was thrilled to find the short rib in stock, and it was absolutely incredible. The meat was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. The flavors were warm and rich—an absolutely perfect way to start the day. If I lived in the area, this would be my go-to breakfast every week! We also ordered the Terrain Breakfast (free-range eggs, bacon, sausage, potato hash, sourdough toast, and greens), which was delicious but honestly didn’t stand a chance against the short rib. Along with the complimentary milk bread and a chai latte, this was plenty of food for the two of us, and we left pleasantly full. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty, meat-forward breakfast!

The 2 hostesses were rude and discriminate. Wouldn't give us the table we asked for even though the restaurant was empty but was ok giving those tables to other people....Only difference between us and the other customers was that we didn't look like them if you know what I mean. Judging from some of the most recent comments guess others experienced the same mistreatment. The server was good. Food was interesting but not bad. The temp manager was nice he helped and gave us the table without any issues. Too bad he's just the temp manager. Never going back again and do not recommend if you are not white.

Terrain Café in Westport, CT is my go-to spot for inspiration and a breath of fresh air. The atmosphere is beautiful and gives me endless ideas for my home. That said, I rarely buy anything because of the steep prices. The food is always great, though—I love their mushroom soup, and they switch up the butter seasonally, which is a nice touch. The drinks are also delicious. Be sure to make a reservation! I made the mistake of going on a Wednesday afternoon thinking I could casually grab a coffee, but there was already a line forming. I recently visited Terrian Cafe for brunch and, regrettably, encountered what appeared to be blatant discrimination. Although I typically refrain from lodging complaints, this incident was difficult to overlook. We were seated in a corner near the kitchen and service area. Upon requesting to be moved to a less busy area across the room, we were informed that all the open tables, both inside and outside were reserved and if wanted another table, we'd need to wait 45 minutes even though we had a reservation. Notably, there were a number of tables available both inside and outside. It appears that if you are not white, this establishment may not be welcoming.

The restaurant's ambiance is nice, but our experience was unfortunately marred by poor service. The hostess's demeanor was unwelcoming and created an unnecessarily exclusive atmosphere. We were a party of five squeezed around a table for four, even though larger tables remained unoccupied throughout our meal. It felt like this discomfort was due to the hostess's disapproval of my 80-year-old mother joining us as we had only booked for four.

Unfortunately, I have to give an extremely rare for me 1 star review to Terrain Cafe in Westport. My wife, mother in law, and 7 week old newborn arrived for lunch on a Monday without a reservation and asked to be seated outside. They were seated outside, orders taken and then were beset upon by yellow jackets from a nearby nest. When they asked to be moved, the manager informed them that this was a known problem and offered to move them to another seat outside, which did not solve the problem. They did not offer any seats inside because they said there was no availability despite visual confirmation of open seating. The issue here is not that there were yellow jackets - the issue is that staff clearly knew that there was a nest nearby that had caused problems for other guests and still sat people outside with no warning. The lack of warning is particularly egregious in my case because, as mentioned, my 7 week old newborn was there. It would have been a non-issue had my wife been warned prior to sitting. To add insult to potential injury here, when the wasps overran the table and made it impossible to stay - and despite the lack of warning - the staff packed up the meal and charged full price. I would have expected the lack of warning to be met with some consolation. All this for overpriced, mediocre food (which I know is a known entity when going to Terrain but still) including fully grey steak ordered medium. Two stars for food as the drinks were tasty. Overall a terrible experience. We won't be back.

The place is nice, but we had a disagreement with the payment. It was my birthday and my friends brought a cake, and just to serve it they charged us $18 dollars $3 per person, additionally at the time of paying I only put $3 dollars per person since they charged the $18 dollars without informing us that we would have that cost, 2 days ago The charge was made to me and a $20 tip was charged when I only authorized $3. I called to make the claim and they agreed to send me the receipt and they have not done so. I don't think I'll go back.

I recently visited Terrain and experienced severe racial discrimination. As a Chinese person, I had reserved a table for three. When we arrived, I noticed there were plenty of empty tables, yet we were assigned to table 21, located right next to the kitchen door. The air quality was poor, and I kept sneezing due to the lack of ventilation. Initially, I decided not to trouble anyone and endured it for about 10 minutes, but the sneezing persisted. I politely asked a waiter if we could switch to another table, and he directed me to speak with the front desk. When I approached the front desk, the staff member, Emma, continuously ignored me, saying she needed to handle all other customer issues first. I agreed to wait, but when it was finally my turn, Emma spoke to me in a very unfriendly manner. I explained my situation, mentioning that I was constantly sneezing and suspected the area was dusty. She responded that no other customer had ever complained about that spot and refused to move us. I then informed her that I was filing a complaint, which prompted her to make us wait for an additional 20 minutes. Finally, she reluctantly assigned us to a different table. I believe the only reason she eventually accommodated us was because I remained polite throughout the ordeal. I understand that working in the service industry can be challenging, but this experience made me feel extremely cautious and anxious about being mistreated. This was my first visit to Terrain, and it was truly disappointing. The restaurant is very beautiful, but I believe the more beautiful a restaurant is, the more it should excel in friendly and attentive service towards every customer, especially when there is a valid concern.

Hi, we were there about 3 weeks ago and it was such a bad experience ( we have had all our business meetings/ interviews there ) however what happened on Friday is not ok. We were having dinner and the amount of mice that were running around the area was disgusting, one passed over my shoe. We headed to the bathroom and I told the girl in the bar, she said she would Tell her manager. Went in to the kitchen and probably forgot I could hear and she said “ oh she saw the mice”! And never came Out to apologize or anything, actually they left thru the other side thinking we wouldn’t see them leaving? Mice are disgusting, it can mean they walk over all things in the kitchen, they can poop over food, you can be intoxicated, its not ok, we paid our full price as we usually do but this experience was terrible. No one ever came to talk to us, apologize, nothing! I attached what I sent via instagram but no answer after almost a month, terrible service once again

I visited this beautiful café and plant shop with a party of 10 today. The aesthetics are stunning, definitely a 5/5. While the atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous, I'd like to focus on the food. The coffees and drinks were delicious. However, despite our server being very nice, we had to repeatedly ask for items as we were not checked on frequently. Our table ran out of water and drinks, and we noticed other tables receiving bread while waiting for their food. We also had multiple plates stacked on the table as they weren’t removed until we asked as the space was tight on the table. We had to request bread, which arrived at the same time as our meals. The wait for food was a bit long, which is understandable given our group size. However, for the prices, the portions could have been larger. We encountered a few issues: one person's chicken was undercooked and had to be sent back, another's plate had only seven fries with the cauliflower burger, and the food overall was under-seasoned. Additionally, the eggs were runny despite everyone requesting them fully cooked. The French toast was delightful, but it would have been better if the syrup had been served on the side instead of drenching the dish. I’d say that the bathroom facilities were a little not kept up with as they appeared a little dirty in my opinion. Overall, this café is a lovely spot for a drink and to enjoy the beautiful aesthetics, but I wouldn't return for the food.

We stopped here after looking at the menu while driving from Maine to Virginia and everything sounded amazing. When road tripping I dress for comfort not appearance, especially if I'm going to be driving 12+ hours. The hostess was very nice and professional, as was our waiter (Alex). Reservations are recommended but not required. Because we were planning on driving another 5 hours we elected to eat lite. The result was ordering mostly appetizers. The mushroom soup is absolutely amazing, as was the gnocchi and fritters. The fresh bread and gooseberry butter was also high on the list for both of my daughters. The ambiance was also fantastic; the attention to detail made for a whole experience. And again I Acknowledge we were underdressed because we were traveling. My other half and I commented to each other that we want to come back and enjoy the full experience. Here's why this place got a lower rating from me: two different tables adjacent to us made audible comments that all 4 of us could hear that were extremely rude aimed at us. An older lady kept commenting "those people shouldn't be allowed in here" and "I can't believe they sat trash next to us". One of these tables clearly complained to the manager because she came over to ask us "how everything was". It struck us as odd, and we definitely didn't feel welcome after that. If we return I will make it a point to be clean shaven and dressed appropriately.

Prices are steep for decor and products but many things are handmade or small batch and you won't find these anywhere else. I just wish the bathrooms were cleaner.

I know I say this a lot. But I really love this place. The atmosphere is like a nature preserve in doors. The food is fresh and clean with lots of choices for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free folks. I had the burger which is grass fed. My friend had the halibut and he loved it. The omelets and the fried avocado eggs Benedict. French fries are always the best. The cafe also has a garden store with great gift ideas. You’ll really enjoy the food, the great wait staff and the whole vibe of the place. Check it out.

TERRAIN CAFE IN WESTPORT! Love this place! They got a garden restaurant and you can shop some lotions and soaps, wreaths, plants, hand towels, pots, home decors and so much more. They no longer have their baked stuff like croissants and cookie by the coffee shop that they used to have before pandemic. Healthy food selection for lunch is good. Happy feels every time I go here!

I came to Terrain for my second time, for my birthday with my friends. Benjamin served us, and was wonderful!!! He was so personable, provided great service, and told us great recommendations off the menu. The food is DELICIOUS, from the bread, all the way to the dessert. Will be coming back over and over again!!!

Atmosphere & Ambience: Nestled in the heart of Westport, CT, Terrain Cafe offers more than just a dining experience; it’s a visual delight. As soon as you step in, you’re greeted by an adjoining store brimming with lush plants, an assortment of pots, flickering candles, and an eclectic mix of household decor. It’s like walking into a carefully curated garden of wonders. Accessibility & Parking: The popularity of Terrain Cafe is evident in its bustling crowd and the slightly challenging parking situation. However, a little patience goes a long way. Despite the initial hurdle, I secured a parking spot without too much hassle. Seating Experience: Luck was on my side as I found three open spots at the bar, a rarity given the cafe’s busy nature. The seating at the bar added a cozy and informal touch to the dining experience, making it all the more enjoyable. Service: The service at Terrain Cafe was impeccable. We were promptly greeted and attended to by a friendly and attentive waitress. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her cheerful demeanor added to the pleasant atmosphere. Food & Beverage: While I won’t delve into specifics, I must say that the food and beverage served were delicious. Each dish was a testament to the cafe’s commitment to quality and taste. Overall Impression: Terrain Cafe is a gem in Westport. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s an experience. From the charming decor to the delightful food and exceptional service, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression. Yes, you might have to navigate through a busy parking lot, but the effort is well worth it. Tips for Future Visitors: For those planning to visit, I’d recommend a bit of patience for parking. Also, don’t miss the chance to peruse the store; you might find something unique to take home!

This place is awesome, filled with beautiful home decor pieces, and they've done a great job decorating it. The café's menu is unique and tempting. But the portions were tiny, and the coffee was really awful.

It is a place with a magnificent atmosphere, right behind that plant and home goods store that looks very nature-like. The menu is full of carefully selected ingredients. I especially loved the selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables that were in season. The taste of every ingredients in the bowl spreads in your mouth. And very fast service. It got full marks from me. Be sure to go!

5! Such a great spot. Located in a giant market that’s filled with plants and seasonal gifts- it’s like walking into a Fall/Christmas emporium! Lots of fun drink options, including spirit free, and many seasonal choices. The food is good, there is something for everyone. Highly recommend the mushroom soup. Great lively spot that’s good for kids and there are lots of vegetarian options.

My friends and I had such a wonderful dinner here. The atmosphere is lovely—beautiful plants and string lights everywhere and the food and service were excellent as well. I had the Harvest Bowl and it was delicious as was the salmon, mushroom soup and everything else our table ordered. I also thought prices were quite reasonable. Definitely a special place I highly recommend!
