Very friendly service . We nearly all had an afternoon tea & found it very good value for money. Shame that they will now have to close again but we will certainly be visiting again when able to do so.

We pop in for lunch when in the vicinity. There is a counter full of delicious looking home made cakes but we just need a lunch snack. There is a wide choice & all freshly prepared in this very clean eatery. Everything delicious with very tasty coffee. Pleasant friendly service too.

I live in Scartho and have visited Florence's on several occasions. While the food is nice (delicious cakes!) the staff, or at least half of them are completely unsuited to work in the hospitality sector. Rude and unwelcoming, it is unusual to get a smile. One or two of the staff are lovely but I do feel that there is a serious lack of customer service training. I understand that the cafe does not struggle for custom but surely that is no excuse for not welcoming the customers that are there? I won't be rushing back. There is a new cafe around the corner or the Rose and Crown on Louth Road, both provide a welcoming atmosphere. Such a shame.

I went with my friends for a lovely catch up, it was very busy but unfortunately the staff were less than helpful and a little rude, we asked twice if we could order our food and the member of staff say "Yes of course, when I have a minute" but I saw them serve other people who came in after us! They messed up our drinks order and didn't know what was i our panini's. We had to ask twice to order our cakes again not interested in our custom, will not be returning to this place.

It's not Costa, Starbucks or a Michelin star restaurant which some reviewers seem to think it is. It's an independent local café! I visited for the first time for a light lunch, was welcomed and found the ambience comfortable and relaxed with clean, light and airy premises. The menu was what I expected and the display of homemade cakes was much more tempting than the mass produced fare of a Costa or Starbucks. The waitress was very helpful in my decision making for the fillings of my panini and when it came it was professionally and beautifully presented with salad. I only drink a black Americano but it was excellent. Overall the café more than met my expectations and if I'm ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to call in.

We popped in for some lunch on our way home and having never been before we thought we’d give this place a try. It was busy so we thought this might be a good sign... The menu was basic, mainly sandwiches, wraps and buns with very few hot choices. Neither Of us wanted a large lunch so we ordered a vegetable soup each and two pots of tea. The drinks arrived quickly and were ok, but the cups are the type where you cannot pick them up solely by the handle without balancing the hot cup against your fingers...not practical or particularly easy to drink out or even pleasant. When the vegetable soup arrived it smelt ok and tasted ok, that was until I discovered it also had bits of pasta, baked beans and potato lurking inside! I would never have ordered vegetable soup had I known it wasn’t vegetable soup, and more a minestrone! Upon closer inspection it actually looked like tinned soup (and not a very good one!), that had had a few fresh vegetables and some extra flavouring thrown in it. I left all of my veg as I got fed up of trying to pick out pasta and beans I also left the white bread bun that accompanied it, as I only eat wholemeal bread and no choice option was was given. As we paid no one asked if our food was ok, and I would have said what I felt given that opportunity, so I’m writing this review instead. This cafe only takes cash as well so that was another inconvenience as I’d just used the last of my cash. Would not recommend and probably won’t return, £12 for soup that gave me indigestion and I only drank the liquid!

Called in on a Saturday Lunchtime, the girl on the counter seemed more interested in her phone than the customers and there were a few uncleared tables. Ordered a bacon and sausage bagel but they had no bacon (they are 5 shops along from a butchers) and the soup that we ordered was from a tin. We had called here previously and had found it much better before

I was looking forwards to meeting friends here. Unfortunately it wasn’t a pleasant experience . We arrived having asked for a table to be shown to a low coffee table . We ordered and waited a very long time to be served (over 30 mins while all around us people arriving after us were being served. When food finally came te scones were hard and the cake dry. Won’t be going back.

We have been here several times for sandwich lunch and always thoroughly enjoyed it. However, on our last visit, the tables were uncleared and dirty. My cheese and pickle sandwich was disappointing with tasteless cheese, indifferent bread and a pickle which left my mouth sore for the best part of a week. I just couldn't believe it. Previously we had lovely bread and fillings. My husband had a tuna sandwich on every occasion, and this time he said it just looked thrown together. On our first occasion the loos had nice red cloth towels. Now they look uncared for. Maybe it is under different ownership? Such a shame, and it was a lovely place to meet my sister. Not again! My mouth is still recovering from either the vinegar or chilies, or something in the pickle which skinned it

Had booked for 3 for afternoon tea but when we showed up, the staff laughed and rolled their eyes and said 'oh well we have got a table free I think' which was a little unprofessional. They also took a while to acknowledge us when we arrived and stood chatting amongst themselves as we waited a little awkwardly. Once we were sat down, decided on just a sandwich instead. It was nice enough and plenty of gluten free options which was nice for me. Staff were friendly after the initial first impressions. Would go back but not in a massive rush and couldn't recommend it as overly impressive.

Contrary to some reports we were welcomed with a smile when we visited for a quick bite on Friday lunchtime. Ambiance is relaxing except for the pervasive sound of the coffee machine; comfy chairs, reasonably spaced tables & understated decor. We both had 'sausage buns' with a late & espresso. Sausages & coffee were good quality, roll was a bit woolly. We looked longingly at the next table where they were tucking into an assortment of sandwiches, scones & cake. Yum!A few suggestions which would have taken my score up to 4 stars: - more substantial serviettes - choice of white or wholemeal rolls - choice of buttered / unbuttered (sausages a bit greasy with butter)Nothing to stop us returning though.

We were visiting family in the Scartho area of Grimsby. Initially we thought we might find somewhere for a lunch in either Cleethorpes or Grimsby. However after a ride along the seafront at Cleethorpes , a walk, and a look in the town centre, it looked sad, dirty and unkempt, so we tried to find Grimsby town centre and failed. We had seen Florence's as we passed on a previous occasion. There is a FREE car park nearby, across a busy road, ( so be careful crossing)as well as several other shops, including a good bakers, butchers and florist amongst others. Florence's is beautiful, The decor is peaceful and lovely. The staff were welcoming. We chose sandwiches with a salad garnish. The bread was delicious, as were the fillings. The 'garnish' was some of the best salad I have had in a while (usually having supermarket tasteless leave!) The dressing on the salad was delicious. The portion was much more than a garnish, and it was a delight not to have green pepper and raw red onion, which so many places seem to think is an ideal accompaniment to everything. I would recommend this coffee shop to anyone in the areaWe saw some people having afternoon tea, even though it was lunchtime. It was served on a 3 tier cake stand, with sandwiches, scones and cakes. The cakes on show on the counter (properly covered against flies and dust etc) looked wonderful, but we had no room for cake after our well filled sandwichesThe toilet is immaculately clean, with individual clean hand towels. When we are in the area again, it will be our first 'go to' place for a light lunch

Visited Florence's today for a quick drink and a piece of cake. We took a seat on a comfy sofa in the corner of the room. A good selection of homemade cakes presented well at the counter. We ordered a scone with jam and a squidgy lemon cake. The lemon cake was lovely and light, sadly the scone was dry. I ordered a strawberry milkshake, when it arrived half of the glass was froth and undrinkable. So I actually only had half a glass.I was looking forward to visiting somewhere new but left feeling unimpressed. The cafe is lacking in atmosphere and the staff were unenthusiastic. Shame. Petfect location but less than perfect elsewhere. Wouldn't recommend

So, why the title? A recent visit with a girlfriend on a sunny early Autumn afternoon and we could have been anywhere but Grimsby. The throng of the traffic to be observed from the busy Scartho Fork puts this cafe at the very hub of the very stylish Scartho village. It's a good place to watch the world go by from, to have a coffee and a catch up whilst letting the world zoom along. On sunny days, this can be a really pleasant pavement cafe experience. That said, I didn't find the food much to write home about. The sandwich menu did not offer much different from the norm and looked unappealing to me. The coffee/cakes phenomenon was a much easier and foolproof option with the staff helpfully recommending which ones they believed were best. So yes, the raspberry roulade did prove tasty, sweet and sharp. Service was a bit hit and miss. A little unfriendly at first (probably due to being very busy inside the cafe) that then warmed up after a little customer appreciation, acknowledgement and a bit of that self-deprecating British humour. As the coffee flowed (and it was good quality coffee) and a couple of cake-related snacks were consumed by each of us (hic!), we had clearly enjoyed our visit. So in the name of coffee/catch-ups, this placed more than sufficed. Was it a particularly gourmet experience - well no but it more than served the need of what we required from this establishment in aiding our banter and beverage experience.

Visited here at the end of last week in the morning. As always, it was busy. We only stayed for a drink (which may I add, was pretty tasty, I went for a hazelnut hot chocolate, and although I thought the glass size was fairly small, the taste helped me to forget this!). The service was quick and friendly enough. There were lots of yummy homemade cakes to choose from but we didn't sample any this time.

I have visited Florence's twice recently. The cakes are amazing! The rest of the menu is simple but has everything you would want or need from a coffee lounge. However unfortunately the service seriously lets it down. The first time I let it slip because its a popular place and was very busy. But this week it was much quieter and we had to ask to be waited on. And once lunch was finished our plates were not cleared and we we were not asked if we would like coffee or cake which we were all excited about. We waited and waited and finally asked for the bill and left. The prices are reasonable and the place is great with a nice atmosphere but the service is poor. All I saw was one girl on her iphone the whole time and the other lady with her head down. Not very approachable.

A friend and I had afternoon tea last week here.It was very busy but we managed to find a table. The staff were polite and reasonably attentive, the cakes on offer looked delicious and when the food arrived it was quite tasty. The food arrived on a two tier cake stand and we were given a plate each. The sandwiches were tasty but as we were given only one plate each, we had to use the same plate for the sandwiches and the cake! Not so good. Our table was dirty and had not been wiped since the last customer, the floor around the table had crumbs all over it and was sticky in places. Went to the toilet and noticed some hand drying cloths were on the floor thrown against a bin. Next to that was a very stained and dirty baby changing mat.No way would I ever use that to change a baby on. Such a shame that the experience was spoilt by the dirt and grime. A " deep clean " needed and more attention needed to keep up with the floor and table cleaning throughout the day.

This is a short walk from our home and is a lovely way to spend the afternoon. We come here for afternoon tea regularly. The staff are great with the children, do not mind the children sharing an afternoon tea between them and will bring spare plates etc if needed. Fitting the afternoon teas on the tables is sometimes a squeeze but we manage. The bread is very fresh and the fillings plentiful. The cakes are always lovely to look at and choose from and the peanut butter stack is to die for.My only small issue is with the seating rather than food/staff. The seats and tables are tub chairs and low coffee tables, its is difficult to eat like this and higher tables would work better maybe.

This place has changed over the years, after last year (2023) I wasn't sure if I wanted to come back, but I'm glad it did. Myself and mostly Gluten Free family had lovely carvery. - Good Cleanliness - Decent Atmosphere - Nice Setup - Meat was cooked to perfection. 🤌🏻 There's were however a things that wasn't particularly great... - I was the only person in the line for a carvery and I watched 12 minutes go by. - The roast potatos were VERY crispy. - No more refillable drinks! I got very annoyed standing there, I have a blue badge due to my disability and my lordosis wasn't doing great but I managed. I know people that wouldn't be able to manage that kind of wait which could take away their independence. Admittedly I only had one roast potato, I like to think I pick the ones that look the best and look fluffy. But the texture and taste wasn't great. Could have been a bad pick, bad batch or just a bad day. I have really enjoyed them in the past. For a refillable drink it only cost 15p more than a regular pint of pop. 😬 So I was shocked to find that there is no more refillable.
