Fleur de Lys in West Oxfordshire

We very much enjoyed our 4 night stay at Fleur de Lys - the rooms were splendid - clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious and the staff incredibly welcoming and helpful. Everything worked extremely well. We very much look forward to staying again most likely next summer if not before.

We stayed at the Fleur de Lys Bampton for two nights. As well as having breakfast, we also ate there one evening with a bigger group. We had a lovely stay and the food and service were excellent. Regarding the evening we ate there, we changed the booking to include more people at one hour's notice, and the person we spoke to was very helpful in accommodating that, without any fuss. A couple of people in the group requested something off-menu and the lady serving us was very helpful, going above and beyond to make sure we got what we wanted. There was an issue with the availability of one of the desserts we had ordered and the lady serving was absolutely brilliant about it. All of the staff we had interactions with throughout our stay were excellent. The rooms we had were also fabulous, and were beautifully decorated. We'll be returning to eat there again when we're back in the area later in the year - and we're really looking forward to it. Would highly recommend both eating there and staying in their delightful accommodation.

We stayed one night to explore Bampton as Downton Abbey lovers. What a gorgeous place! We had a very comfortable room. Spotlessly clean with everything you would need. It overlooks the street so there was a little noise. England were playing so a few revellers I think but not overly noisy or disturbing. We had dinner in the bistro which was very nice. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Breakfast was again very good. The only negative which was pretty annoying is the cleaner started to vacuum at 6:30. I actually had to call out to her that we were trying to sleep after ten minutes of her making a ridiculous amount of noise outside our room. Sunday mornings are for relaxation! Found all the staff we encountered very pleasant and professional. Would stay again and location is ideal for exploring Bampton.

Visited this restaurant for our monthly lunch trip with my Brother and Sister in law.. I and my Sister in Law opted for the Steak frites for our main course. We were very much to see such a thin piece of steak. Unfortunately it was quite tough. There was also a fair amount of gristle and fat. We did point this out to the server and she said she would tell the chef. We did not bother with a desert and paid our bill. Nobody from the kitchen bothered to come and hear our complaint so can only assume that the server did not tell the chef or the chef wasn't interested. If the Proprietor wishes to contact me, I will advise them of another Restaurant not to far away that serves a very good portion of Steak and tender as you would wish for.

We had a fabulous stay. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The food was delicious, slightly marred by one of the staff having a very French attitude to service. All of the other staff who looked after us during our stay were delightful and very helpful. Would recommend.
