I haven't eaten here yet but certainly want to give it a go we stopped for a few beers which have a great selection. I'm intrigued to drink wine here in the future as this seems to be the focus and from what I heard the servers know there stuff.

A fabulous gem of a place with a knowledgeable, welcoming team who love what they do. For a natural wine novice their non wanky recommendations made it easy. We had a few delicious plates to share, pickles, asparagus, smoked mackerel. The cheese was delicious. Loved the whole experience.

This place is just prentious and pricey. Food is honestly dreadful. Drinks are overpriced. They prioritise extravagant ingredients over taste or even seasoning. For an area that has so many restaurants and wine bars which are actually great, I don’t know why anyone would want to go here.

Oddly pretentious is the only way I can describe this place. The service was brilliant until we ordered and paid, and then it was like we didn’t exist. We had the Potato Salad and the Cheese and Crackers, the Potato Salad seemed to only have the Cod’s Roe for the sake of saying they served Cod’s Roe, as it completely unbalanced the whole dish (it even felt like it lacked the basics like salt, pepper and some lemon juice; as well as the potatoes not being undercooked) and the three cheeses were, for all intents and purposes : 1) Brie (but worse), 2) Cheddar Cheese (but worse), and 3) Stilton (but worse). The only saving grace was the chutney, which made the 4 ‘crackers’ we were given bearable. All in all, given its proximity to truly great food and drinks, I would recommend you save yourself the time and explore other bars.

The menu might not be long, but what they've got is top notch! Had the sourdough bread, split pea dip, winter brassicas and golden beetroot soup (wow!), finished with the rhubarb-cream desert. Every single dish was "cooked with love", as my mum described it.

The strangest place I’ve been to in Manchester. Limited selection (1 white wine which was horrible). Super pretentious. I misheard the man working there when trying to get the bill and he was super rude. Avoid at all costs - much better places nearby.

Excellent wine, food & service!

We stopped by for a glass of wine following a friend’s recommendation. It’s a small place but we managed to get a table for the 5 of us just before Christmas 2023. The wine was great, the atmosphere was lovely and although we weren’t hungry we were tempted by the small plates which didn’t disappoint. The leek and potato salad plate was absolutely delicious. We are looking forward to going back when we are next in town - 10/10!

Fantastic where to eat and drink! The waiters also pay attention to your allergies (e.g. gluten free or lactose free). Nice place where to stay and drink natural wines and eat fresh food. The menus are decided by the chef and it changes on a daily basis.

Fabulous food, so much to choose from,fantastic selection of Beers and wine, great prices and lovely, lovely staff. Sit and watch the narrow boats and a rainy Sunday. Bliss

Incredibly expensive and very lacklustre food menu, I assumed the bread that was brought out was a free sample but it turns out it was the menu item I had just paid £6 for. Tiny bottle of cider cost almost £10 absolutely insulting prices.

It's taken us awhile to make it to this very popular restaurant and bar. The wine list is extensive and the small plates delicious.

Flawd, wine bar and small plates down by the canal. Absolutely fantastic, highly creative and locally sourced menu. Wines to suit every palate and pocket. Staff so friendly and fun. If you’re in Manchester you must go there.

Be aware of the price you are being charged when paying by card. £8.33 for a small 330ml bottle of Cider. May have been a genuine mistake or extortionate prices, who knows.

Quality hang out. Very relaxed, great to sit outside by the canal in better weather. Organic wines by the glass or bottle and a great variety of craft beer, including some rarities; on our visit a couple of Mills blends and a stray bottle of Cantillon Drogone.

Something different for a Sunday. We parked up at the Etihad stadium and walked down the canal to New Islington Marina. Stopped at Flawd, really friendly wine bar and had a light snack, the pea blend and selection of cold meats accompanied with a quality glass of wine. Extremely nice team running the place, very welcoming, a good vibe a quality food. Well worth the trip, if you are wondering, it is a 5k loop, so not far. We will be back, they have a beer fridge full of inquisitive looking beers. Next time I’ll take the tram!

As a wine lover and living nearby, I was really excited to check this place out. Oddly, as a so-called wine bar, they only had one red by the glass. They asked if I like it chilled and I requested it at room temperature. To which the lady serving replied: "I am opening a chilled bottle for someone else now, so Im not gonna open another unchilled bottle just for you, especially given we are closing soon" (8pm on a Thursday). Awful awful service! Can't comment on the wine as we were essentially turned away. Hope this is just an anomaly as we don't need this kind of attitude in our neighborhood.

Only 1 wine by the glass and very odd selection. The red today was some Austrian / Hungarian, which was undrinkable imho

I used to have oysters at Piccolino but after tasting the healthy meaty oysters at Flawd I know I've found my new haunt.

Great spot for some fine wine and good food. We starte son just a couple of glasses of natural wines, but we're swayed into a full bottle of chilled red wine. The selection is great, but the view, especially on a sunny day is perfect. Plenty of space to sit in or outside, but if there weather's good, be prepared to sit on the floor outside 😅

They assured me their (very expensive at £10 to takeaway) coronation chicken sandwich was dairy free when I asked them, as the filling was made with mayonnaise; but when I bit into it I realised the bread was slathered with dairy butter. So it went in the bin. They need to be much more on it with food allergies if they’re going to sell food to the public.

My husband and I called in for a drink and a bite to eat on Wednesday evening. Fantastic location on the canal. Lovely atmosphere. Seating inside and outside. Delicious food and drink served by super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended it. This definitely won’t be our last visit. We loved it.

Great place for wine and fantastic nibbles. Food was really good, and wine was lovely. If you like crowds, go on a sunny day. If not, wait for it to cloud over and it'll be a little bit quieter. Great atmosphere in any case and lovely service.

Great little neighborhood wine bar with a great selection of wines with a bonus fridge full of rotating craft beers. A selection of sharing plates of food are also offered. Dog friendly. A little gem.

A fascinating visit for some wine and food. Had big recommendation to visit and it would be a 4.5 if that were possible, but I have to check people views on organic wines. They'll not be to everyone's taste, Meg was amazing, but the summary is they're fascinating to try but my trip suggests it was more it was an experience vs amazing wines. Food 5 star, so hope I dont put people off, but really enjoyed the visit and just have to caution you on the implications of organic, its a different experience.

An increasingly hot spot on weekend nights, and with good reason - Flawd offer an incredible selection of wines (focussing on organic and natural varieties) with friendly staff who impart their vinological wisdom with authenticity and absolutely no pretence. The wine [beer and vermouth, too] is matched only by the quality of home-prepared small plates…this is a truly enjoyable place to while away a few hours in good company!

Amazing wine selection, there’s a really sweet white wine I love that’s available by the glass. Small, friendly vibe. Great food too, we got a plate of cheese, warm sourdough and a cream pea dip, so good!

Just moved into town and flawd was the perfect cozy spot to chill. Meg was so friendly and vibrant, done an excellent job of recommending wine. They have a nice wine selection and food that is definitely worth checking out.

Great little place for wine and nibbles in brilliant location, especially in summer. Simple dishes that are super tasty and all about the flavour and quality of ingredients. Yum! And as anyone would expect - lots of really interesting wines to choose from.

Incredible small plates, great wines by the glass

Had a (super) quick plate of food and a beer & will definitely be heading back for more. It’s tiny but has decent outside seating and occupies a lovely spot on the marina - it’s amazing to see how this area has really settled into being its own thing. The place is clearly the work of people that care for and love the products they serve and environment in which they work: service was genuinely friendly and the food was excellent in a way that showed care and understanding for the ingredients. You couldn’t for much more from a neighbourhood business, and it was a real pleasure to visit.

Lovely drinks outside here when meeting my daughter who lives in manchester. I can see why she loves this place so much. The wine was amazing and the food looked delicious and fresh. Service was also excellent.

I was here as part of a hen party, so I'm a bit sketchy on the details! All I can tell you is that they have a lovely outdoor seating area, nice facilities and really good wine!

Just popped in for a quick drink whilst visiting our son. It's a lovely place. Staff are very friendly. It was a warm evening, so all the outside tables were full. We sat inside. Nice vibe and the food looked fabulous. We will definitely be eating there next time we come.

Bought a glass of house white and it was awful, asked my daughter to try it to make sure and she agreed it was not pleasant at all. Sharp & bitter with a strange aftertaste, politely asked to change it and was met with quite an abrasive response, basically suggesting I was incorrect. I didn’t want to argue & offered to pay for a different wine but I would have expected the place to exchange it as I’d hardly touched it. They charged me full price for another wine. Disappointing.

Very special place. The opposite of 'fur coat and no knickers'! Amazingly tasty snacks produced from a tiny kitchen. If a beer and a snack could have a michelin award category this place would get. I know it has a very good reputation for its wines - but it was hot and sunny and I fancied a chilled beer.

Wow wow wow. What more can I say other than this is an absolutely MUST VISIT place. Everything about this bar is amazing, unbelievable wine selection, outstanding small plates with without doubt the best bread in Manchester (Pollen Bakery), dog friendly and the best staff. Off the beaten track at Ancoats Marina, on a sunny day this is definitely the place to be with great outdoor seating looking at all the barges on the canal. I would go back here over and over again to enjoy some natural wine and the amazing food.

I love this place! The wine is good and the food is surprisingly incredible. Its just small plates/snacks made by one guy using a single pot and a panini grill but they are phenomenal.

Flawd was my very first stop on my very first trip to Manchester and it was the perfect introduction to the city. The vibe is fantastic, the selection of natural wines is incredible and the menu of small plates is expertly curated and executed, and oh so delicious! Many of the ingredients are locally grown on a farm managed by the owners. A great experience overall. I will definitely be back!

We’ve been 3x already since it opened recently as this is an exceptional local wine bar. Wine list and knowledge of the team is first class; nothing has disappointed. Staff super friendly and a laid back atmosphere. A brilliant addition to the Manchester food and drink scene.
