Called into Flames Bar and Cafe on a lunchtime after calling into Coventry City Centre to do some shopping. Ordered a bacon sandwich which came with tacos, a lovely bit of salad and a creamy coleslaw. The coffee came at the same time as the food and was nice and hot. All in all delicious food served quickly and lovely staff to go with it. Its not the first time I have eaten here and certainly won't be the last. Good food and very reasonable prices cooked fresh on a daily basis.

Dropped in for a cooked breakfast and it was fantastic, staff were very friendly and attentive. The decor is great, gives it a traditional cafe feel and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Have visited Flames on two occasions when meeting an old work colleague at lunch time. We often have a snack and coffee and the food is always hot and well presented. What is nice is that when the weather is nice we can sit outside and enjoy the good weather and when not so nice we can sit inside. The staff are always pleasant and efficient without having to wait any length of time to be served.

We stopped here today for lunch, ordered two milkshakes, ham and cheese toasted sandwich and an all day breakfast, drinks were served pretty much straight away, the food was served not long after, we both throughly enjoyed our visit here and would recommend it to anyone.

Several lunchtime visits to this unpretentious venue have all resulted in a very adequate lunch experience. It's not exotic or adventurous. Just good and with friendly service.

The 4 of us ordered drinks and 3 toasted cheese tomato sandwiches and one cheese and ham in brown bread. We waited so long asked how much longer and was told food was cooked to order. Waited again. Eventually 3 toasted sandwiches came on white bread!. Waitress said that only 3 were ordered but would get on other one made. The wait was so long for a simple toasted sandwich. The cheese was really nasty. On cheap white sliced loaf. To visit this cafe was a big mistake.

The menu is limited, they have breakfast options all day, burgers are great and filling. Decently priced. The place is small and congested. Roadside parking subject to availability. They charge 50p for serving tap water, which I thought was rather steep..

My husband and I went for a light lunch whilst out shopping decided on soup, it said homemade on the board, actually it was a pack mix. I have previously worked in catering at a professional level and it’s very easy to spot a proper homemade soup from a pack mix. If I’m paying £3:80 for a bowl of soup it should be at least homemade if that’s what your advertising. Disappointed.

I went in Flames earlier. We all had an omelette and the food was fresh, good quality and nicely presented. However, I found the vegetarian & vegan options non existent and was very surprised by this. I think the menu needs to be more varied in this day and age.

Came in here a 2 times for breakfast, first visit the staff was very rude, we asked for no black pudding and it came out with black pudding, my friend came in with a sausage roll was told to put it away as they don’t welcome outside food which we completely understood she put it away but what wasn’t okay was the chef barging out and raising his voice at my friend. After the 1st visit one of my friends suggested we go eat here I was hesitatent but thought I’ll give it another try, as soon as I sat down was told to move which is fine but annoying as the place had lots of free tables, the way the waistress spoke is horrendous, they belittle people who are just trying to enjoy there morning with a breakfast, one of the guys on 2 tables away from me only ordered coffee whereas his two friends ordered a large breakfast, she came out of the counter after spoke to the man like he was a child, are u only ordering 2 meals, you know you can’t share the mega, he said yes she said you can’t eat his food. I thought that was terrible, everybody in the cafe could hear. Never been to a place so unwelcoming, as soon as you walk in no friendly welcome, being in there they make you feel so unwelcome like your bothering them .I’ve never made a review or took my time to do this as I’ve never experienced such a horrible place. I think you should value the customers you do have a be a little nicer to people. Would tell everybody to avoid this place for sure!!

We were on our last morning before travelling home and wanted a breakfast to keep us going. We ordered the Mega breakfast and sat outside in the sunshine. The breakfast was very good and we both tried hard to finish it but were defeated by the toast. The service was very friendly and we felt really welcome. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good breakfast - all sizes available! Yum.

Popped in to wait for Mrs Steve189. Had a couple of Capachinos and Mrs Steve189 had a tea when she arrived. Both were good and the staff very friendly. By the number of breakfasts being served to locals I imagine these are good too!

Found this on a recent to visit to Coventry and ate here twice in a day!!! We visit Coventry once a year for an event, and always struggle for good cheap/mid-range places to eat so we were pleased to find this place. It is right int he City Centre so not sure why we haven't seen it before. Only a small place but friendly staff and quirky kind of decor/set up. Came for a late breakfast. I had salmon and eggs on toast and it was superbly done and great value. Friend had a lovely looking Full English. Both had nice coffees with it. Came back just before closing around late afternoon. I had a toasted salmon and egg sandwich while others had club sandwiches and baguettes, all of which were packed with filling and excellent value. Will certainly return here when back in Cov!!

I come here quite alot always have a milky coffee which comes really hot and tastes amazing. I norm have either a breakfast or egg on toast both are amazing the only down point i would say there is is that i dont like black pudding and you cant change it for mushrooms but obviously thats just a personal preference otherwise a lovely place nice friendly staff

Five of us had breakfast yesterday. It was serve with a smile and was most enjoyable. We would recommend Flames and we will certainly return.

Always call in here if shopping in Coventry. Coffee is lovely and piping hot as is the breakfast which I had yesterday. Nice little menu. It's a bonus to sit outside on a sunny day. Friendly efficient staff.

La planta necesitaba un buen fregado. El polvo de flores artificiales necesitan dumping. El café se suponía que iba a ser un 'blanco' pero era plana absolutamente nada como. Evitar.

This place does amazing breakfasts and a cracking cup of milky coffee defo worth a visit and the staff are lovely and friendly

Visiting Coventry, my husband had a meeting so to kill time my son and I popped in for a drink and snack, ended up having a light breakfast each, it was delicious, not greasy, quality ingredients and perfectly cooked, the egg wasn't over cooked and plasticky like you often get in cafes.

The mega-breakfast here is awesome, for about 6.5 quid (or less for a smaller size) you get all you could ever need to fill your stomach. Servers were kind and provided great service when asked. Coffee good too!

Was walking around Coventry town looking for somewhere to get a nice fry up, have walked past a few times but never been in until now. We had the "great breakfast" 1 x sausage,1x bacon,Black pudding (only down side could swap this for extra sausage or bacon.)Egg, beans and tinned toms with toast or fried bread also came with a coffee. It came out hot and tastes great will defo be going again

We have been going to Coventry for years now when we didn't even realise this hidden gem was here! The food came our super fast the service was brilliant and the food was a good portion and a fair price. It was a busy Saturday lunch time so we weren't expecting everything to be perfect! We had to ask for cutlery but other than that we will come here again

For the first time I can remember ate outside in Coventry. It was nice to be in the sunshine but it's a bit basic outside the cafe. We had baguettes. Good size portions but not the best quality ingredients. It was OK and filling and the coffee was nice. Probably try somewhere else next time.

We visit frequently, has it changed management?? Dreadful today, miserable staff to the point of rudeness!! Dirty tables. Made our order, stood at the counter a full 5mins before the girl making coffee decided to speak to me, another girl came to serve me and took my order, grunting and no smile is obviously the way to communicate!! Paid for my order, sat at dirty table, waited 10mins then staff member came to tell us they had run out of baguettes, we had ordered 3, not the best experience, usually lovely place with great staff

Flames is quite AVERA, you would expect a lot more from Flames as it was eye catching when you walked past and it looked posh. However this was not the case everything was very slow even though there was only two people before my and my three friends. We ordered two coffees and two tap waters with ice. You would think you ordered a meal for 4 as it took so long! To top it all off at the end we had 1 bowl of chips, that did come out within about 5 mins, but the waitress ha d forgotten what we had ordered even though she had written it down on a piece of paper. As we were leaving we caught the owner of the business and I told him that there was some lipstick on my glass, he did NOT seem interested at all, in fact he just grunted and walked off. The waitresses are very friendly and were very chatty.

Stopped here and ordered scrambled eggs and salmon on toast. The place was quiet but waited fifteen minutes before meal was brought to the table. The toast and eggs were lukewarm as they had been standing for a while after preparation .The meal came with wide range of unnecessary accompaniments- slices of lemon, serving of cole slaw, pieces of tomato and cucumber, and also a sachet of tartare sauce. Would have preferred none of this and just a meal served hot and quickly !The service by the waitress could have been better- she was not particularly friendly and welcoming.

Stopped here on my lunch break looking for something fresh and healthy to eat. Ordered the omelette and asked for no chips. I asked how many eggs were in the omelettes and the girl said she didn't know because the eggs are already pre mixed. Not even sure what that means. She guessed there were 4 eggs in it. She said the food is cooked to order and there were a few orders before me and I said this was ok. I originally sat at a high table as no normal height ones available. I moved when one came free and let the girl know. There was a dirty cup at this table which never got removed nor the table wiped. I waited. And waited. And waited. After 40 minutes I asked where my food was and was told mine was being cooked but it took another 15 to come out, so a 55 minute wait in total. That's just too slow. My glass of pop was long empty and it would have been nice to be asked if I needed another drink. The omelette itself was really big and the salad that came with it was nice and we'll presented. However the ham in it was cheap and very gross so I picked it all out as it tasted bad. Because of the long wait for the food I had to wolf down what I could but the ham issue made me feel a bit queesy. Overall this experience was poor but I can imagine on a better day and maybe with a different food order the place would be ok.

Awful. Table of me and 6 work friends ordered food within 2 minutes of each other. I was left waiting 45 minutes for my food (that's 45 minutes from when the first person in my group received food). Food is average at best. Waste of time, joke of an establishment that needs new kitchen staff who can actually serve a table of food at the same time (a basic requirement in the restaurant industry). I've never had service this bad in my life.

Me and my mum was in Coventry to do some shopping and thought we stop for a drink after looking at the menu thought we thought we would try something to eat I had full English my mum had bacon and tomato toastie, well when they came out they looked amazing I even got black pudding!!!It was all freshly made great food no grease on the food or plate it was lovely and my mums toastie was just as good with a side salad to go with it.The best breakfast by far I've returned twice now everytime just as good as the last.

The food remains good. However, it is no longer a child free cafe. Whilst we were once prepared to endure the very, very long wait for the food, we won't be doing it anymore due to creaming kids. Shame

I have been in Coventry for a few now so my partner and I have tried most of the cafes in the city centre, we find this is one of the best.There is a large menu to satisfy anyones taste or their fancy depending on the time of day you visit. I have tried a number of items on the menu and I have always enjoyed them, my partner also says the same. It is always freshly prepared, they do not scrimp on portion size and the food does taste good. I usually have a coffee, which is always fine (I don't know what the bad coffee reviews are for because I like it and have also been trained how to make coffee, but everyone has their own opinion). My partner has hot chocolate which is made well, she also choses to have cream and marshmallows. The staff are friendly and do cope in busy times. The atmosphere is good and does have other regular customers. We will, of course, be back.

Someone in my family was fortunate enough to win a breakfast for two at Flames, which was passed on to my mother. We visited on Thursday and didn't want the breakfast with wine etc won, so the owner allowed us to have coffees, a mixed-grill and surf&turf instead.The lady owner was very friendly and accommodating and the food was of an excellent standard. We certainly know where to get a decent lunch while in town now !

The breakfast here is first class. Freshly cooked. The coffee with hot milk is also probably the best coffee in town. Always pop in whenever in town.

We have walked by this place a 100 times and never been in, that was a mistake. We went in last Saturday and I had the breakfast which we freshly cooked and really hot and well presented. My wife had a sausage sandwich and enjoy it. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the Art Deco inspired interior was a surprise, in a good way. The Tiffany lamp styled ceiling was as lovely as the food.

set in the heart of Coventry City at the Bull yard which has much history Flames Cafe holds a regular clientell and provides excellent food of good size proportion , the staff are most friendly and helpfull . , can recommend the breackfast and the Posh Salmon and variety of coffees .

Plenty of choice at very good prices. I had a mixed grill which was more than enough at a brilliant price. My wife had a black and blue burger. All cooked to perfection. Owner and staff very nice

Probably the worst coffee I have ever tasted, I just wanted to enjoy a drink in the sun, I enjoyed the sunthe coffee awful, I noticed others left their coffee too.Although I did not eat the sarnies looked okay,

It is near to coventry university. So good for students as they have many deals and offers on pizzas.

I went there with my friend for a coffee in the morning. I don't drink coffee but I bought a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and my friend ordered a cappuccino. I must mention I have worked in a coffee shop before and I had been offered training on how to make coffees. The girls behind the bar could barely even hold the jugs. All I could hear was how they dropped everything on the floor and how they boiled the hell out of that milk. As I was sitting really close to the bar I could see everything they were doing on the coffee machine. They wouldn't even "save the seals" or clear the water out of the steamer before putting it into the milk and would just leave the milk there until it boiled out of the jug. Not to mention the sound that it made was terrible, I had to drink my hot chocolate really quick so I could go outside where it was even quieter. From what I know is that you give a napkin with coffee, I didn't. I had to ask for one. Although it's cheap, no wonder why. I wouldn't return to see how coffee is made by so called waitresses who can't even hold something in their hands.

Not nice food, terrible service. I called and placed order and instantly got vicious calls of 07780111974, when I reported this to the manager they insisted this must be one of my neighbours but when the called me again and forgot to withhold their number again I called flames again and the manager hung up on me after I told him the number. I would suggest that you don't use this service unless you want the nasty contact I've had since calling them but if you do and get the same would suggest you call the police as I intend to.

Went today with friends as they had been before. Worst breakfast ever. Fried bread overlooked, bacon over cooked, sausage cut in half and fried eggs not cooked enough for my liking. Asked for toast no fried bread sent friend bread but when bought toast it was cold then marg on it. Asked for fresh toms not tinned got tinned, beans R cheap. Paid £15.00 for 2 breakfast and 2 drinks. Should have gone market for bacon batch much better.

This place does an excellent full English breakfast. I pop in whenever I'm in town. The one slight grievance I have is you are given sachets of sauce rather than a bottle, and only 2 sachets, which is no good to somebody like me who likes his sauce. It's a bug bear of mine in various cafes I've visited over the years. But as I said, the breakfast really is top notch, no grease, you can taste the beans & toms unlike some cafes who obviously use cheap brands that lack taste. Overall a very good place to visit.

I had a hot chocolate with lots of cream and marsh mallow on top. It was very good and a nice place with large windows.

Nothing special about this place but its location is very convenient while shopping in town. Been there few times when Starbucks or Costa were to busy.
