Five Guys in Cardiff

Found it to be very pricy for average self service food . Milkshakes nearly £6 each , small hot dog £6.50 , you would get better value In a restaurant .

Staying at the nearby Travelodge as a convenient meting up point with friends for a couple of nights. We'll we decide pop out mid afternoon for a light bite before our evening meal. Not much choice really in the small shopping centre. Do we decided on giving something new a try. Never again. 1 small cheeseburger (nothing like the picture) it was dry with just a very well cooked dry burger and 1 cheese slice. My wife had a small hot dog and we shared chips ( chips were nice). I had a mango milk shake which whilst it was nice it tasted like vanilla with no passing resemblance of Mango flavour. No drink for my wife and this came to over £22 Never again.

Expensive but good food, freshly cooked. Warning unless you have a big appetite only order small chips. Nice alternative to the usual hamburger places.

cant beat a 5 guys, love their burgers! best meat and fries, quite expensive but worth it in my opinion, i always go back here better than most other fast food burgers

Ordered 2 cheeseburgers, 2 chips, a hotdog, 3 fantas and a milkshake, Food was very expensive, greasy and a lot of it inedible, wouldn't recommend. The only nice part was the milkshake, hence the 2 stars, nothing for the rest. Not enough staff also.

My first port of call when I arrive after a long drive to Cardiff. The burgers are top notch, single, double with toppings of your choice. Chips are made from British potatoes and a wall board tells you which farm they have come from. A choice of cold drinks with unlimited refill. Service is friendly and advice on hand if you need help with your choices.

Ordered on line for collection. Followed instructions to go straight to pick up point. Waited (and waited) while watching a back log of cooked patties being left on the counter for at least 10 minutes waiting for a team member to finish the toppings and pack up. Consequently burger was at best luke warm - fries cold. Staff obviously under pressure and (eventually) paused taking new orders to move the pile of existing orders along! As a regular customer i feedback to Customer Services who basically were defensive and totally missed the nature of my feedback! Not even an apology. Would avoid at all costs.

I had been looking forward to trying this as I hadn’t been before.. We were aware it was pricey but nearly £30 for two burgers one chips and one drink?? Chips were,in my opinion not good they looked over cooked they were not particularly nice, there were loads of them and they went in the bin! My hamburger was nice and tasty but not worth the money, to be honest I left disappointed. Friends had been telling me how good it was, but it’s not worth the hype or money. Best burger I’ve ever had was in Steak and Shake, shame there’s not one in Cardiff!

Clean restaurant, quick friendly service. The burgers are great value for money, chips just right. Only cold drinks but you can top up for free, hot drinks can be bought at the cafe next door and be brought in no problem. The place is always clean and bright - well lit with an open plan design so you can see straight out into the Red Dragon complex. Very pleased with the service and the food, no complaints.

Tasty Burger and fries were delicious and very reasonably priced. The venue itself could do with a tidy (tables cleared and cleaned) but it’s a fast food experience rather than restaurant dining.

Friends and I got burgers and fries, and shakes. We Didn't have to wait long to be served by a very nice chap. Food was hot, shakes were cold. Only a short wait too.

Partner loves this place, but i feel it is overpriced hype. Its just fast food outlet with average food. The Milk shakes are good and I like how you can have it your own way, but when I go to eat fast food I don't expect to pay restaurant prices.

Fantastic. I ordered ahead for a cheeseburger and chips. They asked if I wouldn't mind waiting 2 minutes when I got there for them to make the chips. It didn't take any time at all but they gave me extra chips for waiting which was really nice of them. Food was lovely, great service.

First visit to any Five guys and not really that impressed. A lot of money for quite a greasy burger, the bun disintegrated within 30 seconds and the cajun fries were, well, not all that cajun tasting. Maybe it was because I was in quite late and they were winding down but not for me, I have had better burgers. The list of things you can add to your burger is a it of a gimmick as well a lot of that stuff should come on a burger anyway! For the money they want for a burger it's a no. To be honest unless you are in your late teens I am not sure you are the target audience for this place.

The serving staff here are usually excellent. The place is always clean and service is spot on. However, I read a couple of quotes from people saying they were blown away by the burgers.. Well, trust me children; you've never had a real burger!The fries are lovely, very rustic and filling in a nice way. The cheese is nothing to shout about but that's the not the main issue..The thing that lets these guys down is the people making the burgers. A very obvious stretching of beef resources result with these poorly made burgers.. The base mix is quality - the egg whisked mix they use is very fresh & always leaves a nice prominent after taste: It's the gristle that's the problem! Way too chewy and if you study the burger after each bite it's rare to see just meat. A lot of diced gristle in there all the time. I prefer it if they used more base mix and pure beef if they are trying to stretch things.. These guys heavily advertise as making a 'better burger' as well so I expect a lot more.. If you haven't got enough beef to source then don't cut corners. I am reluctant to go again. Maybe you will catch me there after a few drinks..The crown of burgers in Cardiff is held by he who makes thy burger! Make a good burger and the people will come! Been several times and know it’s expensive for what it is but quality is normally good. Had a £5 hot dog and although it was nice it was ridiculously overpriced. The bigger problem was the quantity of fries, I paid £5.25’foe large portion of fries and normally there are loads but this time there were a few more than the cup. I should’ve complained but they were busy and i didn’t feel confident enough to say. The potion size was awful and makes me think I’m not gonna go back again. I certainly would not recommend the one in the red dragon centre.!quantity is one of the big pluses but that’s no longer offered. Disappointed!!!

Only my second visit to Five Guys and both times I have been blown away by the burgers. A small burger is more than enough but if it’s a treat, just go big and get the double patties.One large fries is enough for 3 people and the milkshakes are world class.However the meal did come to almost £50, that is on par with a sit down meal at many chain restaurants, but if you like a tasty burger and are not fussed about the fast food environment then I believe you can’t find better.

Renewed faith in the quality of the product after a lesser experience elsewhere. Great burgers and milkshakes, definitely the best milkshakes around. £34 for two burgers, two milkshakes, and sharing fries... Bit much. It is worth it, though, somehow.

The burgers from here are amazing. Pricey but really good. Occasionally have these in the office as a treat but have been here to sit down too. The milkshakes are also so good!

Five Guys must be named after the four guys who stand around and chat to the fifth guy who is cooking the burger. Oblivious to the dirty tables and littered floor in an otherwise empty restaurant. Two cheese burgers, one milkshake... £20. I give it less than a year.

I had never tried Five Guys before but after giving it a go the food is high quality and well prepared. The portion sizes are very large but ordering a full meal can be expensive.

You’re able to customise your meal, so you get a burger exactly how you like it. They give really large portions (I couldn’t finish my meal) but is quite costly considering it was just burger, fries and a drink.

Visited here recently for a quick bite before a Rob Brydon concert at the WMC. This is so over priced and I honestly don’t get the hype – ok you get a double patty burger but I just found the patties just soggy and tasteless. They also got the “extra fillings” wrong – but it just wasn’t worth the hassle of getting the order changes. I’ve also tried the MyGuys in the Brewery Quarter, Cardiff and these burgers simply aren’t worth the money they were also soggy. Cheeseburger, fries and drink cost around £15 - Should have gone to McDonalds at a third of the price and tastier.

I had eaten a while ago at the Five Guys in Cardiff Centre and thought that it was overrated and overpriced so my expectations for this Five Guys was not high! We were trying to decide what to have quickly before watching a film at the Red Dragon Centre at despite my reservations this restaurant fitted the bill.

As with every Five Guys you know what you're getting. Well cooked and tasty as always. A real family favourite.

This is a great place to eat. The burgers and fries are great. The prices are reasonable. The portion sizes are great. The staff were freindly and helpful. Will be calling again.

Me and my hubby had five guys for our date night before popping to the cinema. The music was so loud I could hardly hear the person taking my order. It's quite expensive for what it is, we had a burger each, chips to share and both had milkshakes. The burger was nice, the chips were the saltiest chips I have ever tasted! I couldn't eat them,anyone with blood pressure issues, don't eat their chips! And the shakes were ok.

Possibly the longest wait for a burger in the quietest 5 guys I've visited. Staff friendly and food was good but a long delay to wait. Went for large fries and omg they didn't fail I got way more than needed

My daughter has coeliac disease and can not eat any gluten, unfortunately they don’t do gluten free buns,but the lovely guy on the tills was more than happy to make my daughter a lettuce wrap,the food here was lovely best we’ve had in a long time

Absolutely delicious food and sooo much choice. The shakes were also to die for. Pricey but worth every penny. As someone who had never visited a five guys before, I found the staff to be so helpful and great in their recommendations. I’d highly recommend.

Visited here a few times now. The burgers are nice and freshly made. Plenty of topping options too. Service is usually pretty quick. It's pricier than a McDonald's but the food is fresh! Don't get caught out by the size of the fries. They put an extra scoop in on top so even when you order the small fries, you end up with loads!

We brought the kids here a while ago before a cinema trip and vowed to come again and eat with less chaos-finally managed it. The burgers are second to none, the fries are very generously portioned and the shake was thick and creamy. Will definitely come again (with and without the little ones)

Decent quality burger with lots of options. Bottomless soft drinks (Lots of choice) Freshly cooked. Would definitively return. Staff so much more helpful that Gourmet Burger in the Bay.

Well me and my boyfriend went here last night. On arrival I just wanted a burger so ordered a cheese burger, After a little wait was given the burger but unfortunately was missing tomatoes so asked if they could just add some on. The staff then said they would make me a fresh burger and would bring it to the table personally. I said it was fine if they added some on but they insisted on making a fresh one and was apologised to profusely. So I would say the staff were absolutely brilliant and couldn't be more helpful. Would definitely say a really good experience. Definitely recommend.

It was our first time visiting a Five Guys and we were looking forward to it after hearing lots of good things about them from friends.

I love the fact that you can completely customise your burgers here, even my children were happy coming here! Best chips I've had in a very long time. Just a shame the drinks machine wasn't fully working this time and therefore drinks choices were limited.

For a fast food restaurant, this is something else. My family and I were visiting the cinema next door so fancied a quick bite before the film started. This is a burger bar with a difference. You are told where the beef is sourced for the burgers (which was local) plus where they bought the potatoes for the chips/fries (again local). I very much appreciate this. The food itself was amazing - not at all like the plastic rubbish from other establishments. Burgers were perfectly cooked with lovely chips.

This is a big chain, getting bigger in the UK. The prices are high compared to the US Five Guys restaurants.

Easy to order waiter very friendly took our order easy and efficiently. Restaurant very clean and tidy burger nice if there’s two of you I’d order just one fries as they are massive. Will return again sometime.

Visited at a busy period during half term week with two young grandchildren. Found it expensive for what we ordered, quality of the food was good but not worth what we paid. Next time we visit the Bay area will book a table at a restaurant.

Tried this burger place and it was good, chips very salty though. They should give you choice with the chips like the one for burger, since the price is expensive. Crews are very good, friendly so it does make a difference. Will probably try again next time.

I first went to Five Guys in White Plains, NY, inside it had posters upon posters of 'Burger Of The Year' awards from the mid 2000s, I can see why there weren't any later as it was a very overhyped, expensive burger which has now made its way over here.

My two teenage boys have been banging on about going to Five Guys for ages, the power of social media knows no bounds. So on a day trip to Cardiff we made our visit.

I have visited Five Guys with my girlfriend and son several times, and each time, we have all left extremely happy with the experience. The staff are helpful and polite and the food is fantastic. On the last visit, I thought I had left my cardigan there, which had something very valuable attached to it. I called the restaurant, and the cardigan was not in the lost property. I asked if I could see the CCTV to establish if I, did in fact, leave it there; the willingness of the staff to help was extraordinary. They took my details and told me they would get back to me once they had permission to show me the CCTV. They called me several times the same day to ask further questions, to ask when I could visit to view the footage, and ultimately to inform me that they had viewed the video and saw that I had left with the cardigan. As it turns out, I found the item of clothing - it had fallen behind the sofa, but I am extremely grateful to Five Guys for their attentive response. My sincere apologies to the poor soul who was tasked with sifting through the CCTV footage.

Infuriated by the manager of Bella Italia's stinking attitude, we hot footed it over to Five Guys to get some food. How lovely to be met with a smile, patience while taking orders and the food coming very speedily, exactly as we ordered. The burgers were filling and well cooked. Love the idea of labelling each one so there's no having to unwrap to see which was which. Plentiful fries and refillable drinks. Absolutely excellent

The food tastes like Burger King but is double the price! Three hot dogs with milkshakes and two burgers with sodas cost £55. Food was ok but nothing special.

Late night need for food and found this place nearby- heard it’s great so thought I would try.

Second time I have visited. Service is slow, there is no defined place to stand while waiting for food. Ordered hotdogs and milkshake. Dreadful dog and bread but the milkshake was good. Expensive for what you get. It's a case of twice visited but never again.

Was undecided where to go for lunch but eventually plumped for "Five Guys" and boy were we glad we did. The burgers were the BEST we had EVER tasted and we loved the fact that we could add our own toppings with no extra cost, the service was excellent and all freshly cooked to order.

Way over priced for a fast food restaurant. The burgers were okay nothing special. Shame thought it would have been better after reading some of the reviews. The burger was dried out. They cook in peanut oil which restricted what we could have. No chips No milkshakes.

Way too expensive for fast food Burger and fries, twice the cost of Mc d's. Food very average and does not warrant the excessive prices charged... Could not recommend as exceptional food in any way for the premium prices asked for.

Visited Sunday 10th at just after midday and was very disappointed with the cleanliness overall.

Food good. , Milk shakes good , staff great, but way too expensive for that kind of food , tried it but won't go back , served in a piece of foil not my ideal choice of wrapping , will eat at all spice next visit .

Not cheap, but then its not frozen, processed or reheated either so I'll take that as a trade off. Also love the fact you can actually order it how you want it without having to scrape a load of crap off after you get it. You can get all your add ons' for no extra cost which is also a big plus. The only down side for me is they do'nt cook pink.

Glad to see Fiveguys has survived in the Bay Area. There are very few burgers that taste this good! Had both the bacon cheese hotdog & bunless bacon cheese burger Excellent!

£19 for one standard cheeseburger, one small cheeseburger, one portion of over-salted fries and one drink! What a rip off! Ok I get the 100% meat being the advertising hype, but you can get far better quality food in a cafe for less than that. Typical import from America - pity they didn't keep it there. More fool you if you pay these silly prices for a burger. Never again!

Location is great and the burgers are good, nothing out of this world but good solid burgers. Staff was friendly and the place was clean.

Originally ate my first Five Guys burger 4 years ago in the US and although we're now over 3,000 miles away still tasted just as good! Super quick service and tastes so much better than other fast food burger joints

This is not a cheap fast food place. Yes you order your food at the counter, and it burgers, hot dogs and fries. But it is of good quality the service is excellent and so helpful the milkshakes are fab. this size of the fries portion is large good for a treat after the pictures

This place is great with fab staff, can even have up to 15 free toppings on your burger. Only thing I would say is that the prices are a little high. However , the food is fresh and the chip portions are big so we were advised to buy 2 portions for 3-4 people which was plenty.

Good place to get a great burger! A regular fries is enough fries to share between two people (trust me). Not overly busy so you dont have to que for youre food. The drinks machine is worth the visit alone!

Five Guys is 100% my favourite place to get a burger! Yes it's quite expensive compared to some fast food locs so you can't go as much as you might Mcdonalds.. but it's so worth it for a treat every now and then! The burgers are so tasty, with the choice of any toppings you want as free extras. I don't go for the fries as usually i'm full from just the burger but I know you get an extremely generous portion. At this branch of five guys especially I find the staff impeccable, always friendly and chatty and ask about my day. Lucky I only work around the corner so I have an excuse to pop in for a treat!

Came here for a burger and chips, thought the prices were disgusting for a burger but was really good food. Don't think I will be coming back in a hurry though, way too expensive.

Have been here a couple of times. The food is always nice but it takes a bit of getting sued to the portion sizes of the fries. On the first occasion we ordered a portion of fries each and ended up with a potato mountain.

they do something different to the burgers that I am not a big fan of. the US version is still my favourite. the buns are too soft and soggy. and the taste of the burgers does not excite. the location is nice and clean.

We visited on Saturday night as treat for my children as we going to watch Fast and Furious 8. We went to the Five Guys before hand as it is right next to the Cardiff Bay Odeon.

Went here on a friday evening with my wife . It was not too busy so there was no queue. I ordered a cheeseburger and my wife orderes a bacon cheese. Lots of topping to choose from for no extra cost. I added jalapenos,lettuce,tomato,grilled onions,ketchup and mustard. My wife added lettuce,onion,pickles and mayo. We ordered regular fries and two soft drinks,which are refillable. There was lots of drinks to choose some and you can help yourself from the touch screen machine. Food was ready within 5 mins. Skin on hand cut fries were great and plenty of them. The burgers were great and surprised we got two patties not one. They could have maybe been a bit hotter but were really tasty. Reminded me of some of the burgers I have eaten in the US. Was good to know we could take drinks into the cinema so we refilled them before we left. Cost of meal was £26 which is a bit steep but worth it as a treat. May not have tried it if our cinema trip wasn't free.

You'll go far to find a better burger around. Although, five guys can be a bit expensive for just a burger and fries its worth the visit every now and again. Really good burger, large servings of fries. Tip, one regular fries order will comfortably feed two people. The drinks machine is worth the visit alone, serving lots of unusual flavoured sodas you wont find else where. My personal favourite is the cherry vanilla coca cola. Staff at this location are very good.

Came here after watching film in Imax. First time to a Five guys, more expensive than McDonald's but far tastier in my opinion. I am coelliac so asked what was gluten free. Assistant immediately found me a card and asked the chef for confirmation. Fries and peanut butter thicknesses were fine. Burgers were fine, though I opted for a hot dog with cheese no bun, though they did offer it or a burger in a lettuce wrap. Will def be back

It's a fast food setting (think McDonald's) but GBK kind of quality (and price too). Need to try their bacon milkshake(!) next time! They can process your parking tickets for free parking - maybe useful to know if you're going in just for the Burger

Me and my partner came here for a meal before our film. My partner enjoyed the meal but me personally begrudged paying £35 for two burger and chips. Chips were a bit salty but maybe I'm just fussy. On the plus side the choice of beverages is plenty can't complain in that part. Thumbs up
