Fitzbillies in Cambridge

Coffee (especially flat white) is great. Avocado toast at other branch is better.

The coffees arrived hot and quickly. The coffee was strong and flavourful. The best bit of our order. We ordered the two snacks - the vegetarian and the meat one. We found them very bland. I could only taste the white bun and my partner could only taste the sausage and the bun. The vegetarian one was also cold and the halloumi wasn’t cooked enough. It had so much potential but with the buns being too soft - it was very hard to eat. We ate it all so quickly because we were starving but very disappointed. Clearly very busy and popular for the coffees and pastries.

Not impressed, just been passed to but half a dozen scones which are displayed in the window. Google says they close at 18:30, the sign on the door says 6pm and it’s only 17:40.

Luxury Cafe and Bakery in Town This cafe is always busy. Whenever passing by, it's so full that it's impossible to get a table. Nevermind. Always has some freak like it hot. I prefer my bread hot therefore take away most of the time. The pain au chocolat is &3.40 for take away. While returning home, I bought another pain au chocolat at Brown Bread Bakery(market) to compare. Let's go home to scale the Fitzbillies pastry. It's 89 g. It was not as flakey and buttery as Brown Bread Bakery. Not as solid and dense as Stir Bakery. Compared to Stir Bakery and Brown Bread Bakery, it has the least chocolate inside.

I love this place so much. I came here because myself and on Monday around 12:30 and it was incredible. I bought an iced latte and a cinnamon bun and I think it was reasonably priced. The coffee was one of the best I’ve tasted in a while and the cinnamon was not to sweet but sweet enough. The staff are super lovely and I’m definitely coming back here again with my friends

staff are lovely but food and drinks are outrageously expensive. There is no WiFi (perhaps to deter people with laptops?) and they started clearing and putting away all the tables in half the cafe 1.5 hours before shutting which was a bit bizarre. Better off going to a place like Indigo’s cafe or Bridges for a more authentic Cambridge experience (and you’ll have change from a £10 note)

A nice cafe with very good Chelsea buns and many other snacks and drinks. Interestingly, the price of a Chelsea bun for takeaway (£3.50) is different from the one on site (£4.20). Nice atmosphere, I recommend it!

Home of famous Chelsea buns (not pictured, did not have one this time but would not have lasted long enough anyway 😋) and excellent coffee. Nice buzzy feel even on a wet Saturday morning in November. Gonna have to go back when it's warmer and see if they will do an affogato with Chelsea bun ice cream instead of vanilla ☕🍨😃 Also they have Marmite and cheddar Chelsea buns. Which you will either love or hate. If you hate them, I'll have yours by all means. (NB: unexpectedly, no WiFi but - ahem - check the list of networks and there is one you can sign up to for free. I'm not going to say which but it's a well known organisation.)

El servidor no entendía nuestra orden y nos dieron la comida equivocada que era apenas comestible, la tostada de masa madre era dura como la roca, el sándwich de tocino tenía tocino rayado frío con tostadas sin mantequilla mientras pan. Nos arrepentimos de nuestra elección ya que a la vuelta de la esquina, 20 yardas más o menos hasta Pembroke Street era un café muy agradable.

Bun was old and stiff. They close half of the restaurant one and a half hour before closing (?). Not worth the hype.

Note that the hours don't quite reflect reality: the café becomes takeaway-only from 5pm each day. It would be great if this were reflected somewhere. Lovely food and coffee, plenty of tables, plus coffee beans available to buy.

We decided to go for the picnic takeaway which comprised of the most delicious focaccia sandwich, cake and a drink for £11. It was by far the tastiest lunch I’ve had in a long time, we will definitely be going back.

Sadly, service not great, tables dirty and if you want a sandwich the very dull choices. Falafel wrap was dry and tasteless and small for nearly £7! For 3 simple sandwiches, a coffee, a can of still water and a small can of lemonade the bill came to £31.70. Really disappointing. Pret would have been a better choice snd better value.

Shame on staff for selling stale macaroons at £1.70 each, knowing they were for a hospital patient. Today’s lemon macrons were not fit for sale!

5 stars are not enough! Amazing, friendly service, a decent coffee and the signature Chelsea buns are to die for. A 'must visit' place for anyone living in or visiting Cambridge. Go now and keep going back!

Very adequate for a cup of coffee and a "little something", but nothing like as special as it used to be. A much smaller, more mundane menu and, saddest of all, they no longer sell florentines.

stopped for a quick bite to eat while on my break between meetings. nice strong coffee and a scrumptious piece of cake , quick, easy and definitely what I needed to recharge and carry on with my day. Anna was amazing , hopefully I will be see you again on my next visit in Cambridge

The cozy bakery of Fitzbillies Bridge Street beckoned with warm pastries and aromatic coffee. As I stepped inside, the scent of freshly baked goods enveloped me. The rustic decor, mismatched chairs, and vintage posters created a welcoming ambiance. I ordered their famous Chelsea bun – a golden swirl of dough, sticky with cinnamon and raisins. It was sweet, gooey, and utterly indulgent. Adam, the cheerful waiter, served my coffee. His infectious energy and quirky anecdotes made the experience delightful. The coffee, though not exceptional, tasted better in that cozy corner. People-watching by the window, I observed students and tourists. Adam flitted between tables, making everyone feel welcome. In the end, Fitzbillies Bridge Street was about warmth, stories, and a sense of belonging. I left with a smile, already planning my next visit.

Cute place in a great location. It's worth seeing and going out of your way to experience this gem of a place.

Ice cream was disappointing. The Fitzbillies one is basically a vanilla with a few raisins in it. Also the staff delivered it with bare hands, no tissue (until I asked for it). Clearly not their specialty...

I purchased some Chelsea buns for fathers day, the buns were lacking in fruit and syrup and not as good as normal. My parents froze the remaining buns and have eaten them today. Only to nearly choke on what appears to be a large bit of string from the flower sack. Photo attached.

Fitzbillies is quite well known around Cambridge, so we brought an international friend. It didn't quite live up to the hype - I paid over £11 for a mocha, coke, and Chelsea bun, which I thought was quite expensive. The mocha was a bit gritty (perhaps this was the cocoa powder as they said they've recently changed powder) and the Chelsea bun was nice but a little underwhelming.

We tried their famous desserts, but we expected them to be moister and sweeter. Their coffees are delicious. Especially try the mozzarella sandwich with pesto sauce, it is very delicious.

The food is what makes this place. The bacon jam toastie is simply delicious. The Chelsea buns are also a great sweet treat. Service is ok.. staff seem quite happy to not do too much (hang around) and tables could be cleared and cleaned to make the place more welcoming!

We ordered 1 coffee, 1 diet coke and a lemon polenta cake. The rotal was £10.45 which i thought was a little steep but we were in a tourist hot spot so I accepted it. I took the cake with me and the young lady said she would bring the drinks over. 15 minutes later we were still waiting for our drinks and we were about to leave and ask for our money back when the waitress noticed us whilst serving another customer. She apologised and broughr the drinks over. The coke came in a can but no glass, the coffee wasn't bad to be fair bur it would have been nice to have the cake with it. Wasn't the best advert for your establiment.

Great stop for a quick coffee, great sausage rolls and of course it's famous Chelsea bun.

I'm only giving 3 stars because I believe it was far too expensive for what we got (dining in affected this) it was almost £20 for 2 drinks and two buns. I didn't like the regular Chelsea bun muh the cheesecake one on the other hand was delicious. Drinks were average. Service was great.

Unfriendly, court service redeemed by nice food and coffee. There are many nice coffee places with good food and service in Cambridge so probably wouldn’t visit again.

I spotted the sign while on the tour bus, thought it looked good because of the location. Except that once there it drags, and I even end up having my turn stolen by another lady in a very hurry, without the waitress being upset. Finally she will serve the “cheater” first. I couldn't wait to taste their products, in the end I left everything and went to treat myself to a hot dog 😅.

It's seems to be a chain in Cambridge. They apparently have very good Chelsea buns. I didn't try. We just got drinks which were very expensive for the small little cups but there were queue at all of them so I guess they can charge that.

Staff sitting outside, smoking and chatting with their friends. Ordered and paid for a double espresso. When it came I was told it was a single - looked like it. I queried and was told 'it's a double'. End of chat. It's ok but the coffee burnt flavour and could be better.

Coffee bitter. Chelsea buns are terrible now they are vegan. What a massive disappointment considering how pricey everything is. £5 for sausage roll that was pretty tasteless. How sad to see this brilliant company go down hill with quality and uphill with prices😭

Turned up at 2:30 only to be refused any hot food. They would not even heat up a sausage roll in the microwave. Shame because the food is very good.

Fitzbillies desserts certainly live up to the hype in terms of sweetness, but for me, it fell short of becoming a repeat destination. While indulging in some coffee and a sweet treat, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. Perhaps it was the overly hyped atmosphere or the lack of a wow factor in the desserts. Don't get me wrong, the offerings were pleasant enough, but they didn't leave a lasting impression that would draw me back for another visit. Nonetheless, if you're in the mood for something sweet and want to experience the buzz surrounding Fitzbillies, it's worth a try.

We had the chelsea bun original and cinnamon bun, the Chelsea bun was OK and at least we tried it. It does get very busy but service for takeaway was quick. There are a few dotted around within walking distance so easy to find.

They checked my order twice but they still gave me a vanilla latte Instead of just a latte!

We stopped here as the reputation was great for their baking. We shared a mozzarella salad sandwich on focaccia bread and it was delicious (last one hence sharing). The Chelsea bun was the best ever. Moist , sticky and tasty. The staff were great and made a fuss of our dog. Great service. I think it’s quite expensive though and I unfortunately lost my receipt- will check when the credit card bill arrives.

Very good cinnamon rolls here, perfect to enjoy with a coffee. Perfect texture and flavor, it makes It easy to start eating and dont stop. A must in your Cambridge visit if you want to try this typical sweet.

Tried the cheese toasties, veggie tart and beetroot falafel. The food is good quality but unfortunately, the choice is quite reduced. No salad at all and sandwiches are quite small to stay full until dinner. Hard to have a healthy option there. Did not try the sweet treats. Coffee is excellent Went there 2 times because there was no other alternative. Seems they have a monopoly in the center city.

Unfortunately, the coffee machine was broken so no flat white for me, but a pot of tea and bacon bap was lovely, followed by of course the famous Chelsea bun.

CHELSEA BUN HEAVEN! You cannot leave Cambridge without eating one of these buns drenched in sugary honey sticky syrupy goop. The bun is slightly hard but that’s the way they are made. Great to see some GF options too. Pleasant seating areas on the inside.

Very cute place. We tried the chelsea bun. It was good. Stiffer than a cinnamon bun back in the USA. Also, more honey tasting. Decent cup of mocha coffee.

Very friendly cashier and barista, but I am here to review the coffee which was f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c! With the Cambridge Half Marathon the place was packed; the hour we spent in the coffee shop the barista spent it doing coffees non stop. She was able to keep the standards in the process of coffee and milk making, which as a former barista I know how tought it is. Best coffee I have had this year, and prob. top 5 from last year. Congrats!

I go to Fitzbillies every day for my morning espresso the staff are so friendly and welcoming,the food is lovely and the Chelsea bun 👌🏻 is a must have 💙

The coffee and hot chocolate were both very good and the staff friendly and efficient BUT the place needs a deep clean. The walls, floor, window shelf, bottom of tables all filthy. Whoever owns this place should be embarrassed.

The food and drinks are always fantastic at all of the branches of Fitzbillies. But it's usually very crowded, sometimes with long queues, and the tables are close to each other. On this visit many of the tables hadn't been cleaned or even cleared off - the staff were so busy they didn't have time. They were very friendly though! The food and coffee will keep me coming back.

We had the best first-experience having afternoon tea! It was so lovely and refreshing. The Chelsea buns were so delicious and everything we ordered was just perfect. If you’re wanting an affordable and delicious afternoon tea experience, this is a great place to go! Can’t wait to visit again

Poor service, badly run, name reputation and branding on point sadly the rest is sub par. Coffee ordered white americano got a black americano in a tiny 6oz takeaway cup Never asked what size I wanted which I would expect regular or to be asked and explained. I saw what I would say are espresso cups and regular 12oz cups and assumed it would be a regular cup.. wrong… Management poor lots of staff all like rabbits in the headlights, shouting the coffee type out for collection and then people rock up and grab it cutting the queue for the person who’s it should have been. (He wasn’t best pleased) Pots everywhere on the counter as the customers are clearing tables. One barista and wofty girls aimlessly bimbling about. Needs… Manager with exp in hospitality A system for collection of drinks (name or number) or table service for those seated. Was a bit let down by a very stale Chelsea bun I got in the bakery area. It was 10am so I assumed they'd be fresh, but I really don't think these were. **Edit: went to the seated area for a full English breakfast and it was delicious, hot and fresh.

I was certainly expecting more from this place than I got. It's not inexpensive. Chelsea bun, their must have offering was ok. Place was generally scruffy and grubby when I went. Needs a refresh.

Normally a higher vote as have been several times but not enough coffee making staff on duty during my last visit. 20 mins to wait for a coffee is really poor. Not the duty staffs fault, they were polite, apologetic and trying hard - management issue for resolution. Chelsea buns excellent as always, carrot cake is a winner too.

Overrated foods, disgusting wcs

Food average but expensive fir what arrived. Most of the staff were friendly but some not! As a family of three we are two toasties, a sausage roll, one scone, one tea and two diet cokes. Bill was £37! Would try somewhere else next time that offers better value.

Fuimos a probar el Chelsea Bun, y la verdad es que estuvo increíble. Blandito en si interior, bien empapados y con un toque buenísimo a canela. También había, de cheesecake. Pongo un 4/5 porque aún me hubiese gustado probar más cosas. Pero es de 5/5!

This spot was an excellent choice for breakfast or coffee. The inviting atmosphere and the exceptionally kind staff made our experience truly enjoyable. I express my gratitude for the wonderful time, and if you find yourself in Cambridge, it's a definite must-try.
