Chicken curry had spilled all out of packaging

It was late, but the food was great. Just wish I’d had arrived hotter but we do life the other side of town. Would order again. Fish was lovely and far too many chips!

Excellent place. Best bit of fish I’ve had for ages cooked fresh on the spot. Can’t fault it. Lunch time rush with lots of tradesmen all topping up on kebab and chips. Must be good.

Just had it of Uber eats and I can honestly say it’s one of the best delivery’s we have had , food was amazing and hot , the portions where amazing for the price , definitely recommend for a takeaway

Called on way back from Air show whilst staying nearby at the Premier inn...we just missed the closing time of 9pm..by about 10mins...but they still served us and we were so grateful as we didn't want to trail round somewhere else. The kebabs are awesome..great flavour and good portion size..would highly recommend to anyone.The people here work really hard and we really appreciated them serving us after closing.

What a shame this place used to be the best! I think it has now been taken over and wow what a diff! Chips not as good burnt and soggy, kids box has gone now in a bag, my salad tray had about 5 cabbage leaves in it, curry sauce awful and they have increased the price??? Not only that when I have gone in the girls are miserable and give you filthy looks. Finding another chip shop - my advice is don’t use them.

Fantastic fish & chips! The fish was so fresh and the batter was light and crispy with very yummy chips. Utterly delicious and we’ll be ordering again. Worth every penny and great service too! We highly recommend them.

Wow! These were long awaited chips on our canal boat journey of 2 weeks and we were not disappointed! I had keebab in a wrap and my other half had fish and chips. The batter was absolutely perfect apparently and my keebab meat delicious. The chips were the best chips we have had for a long time. On top of this, the guys behind the counter were really friendly. We went to a local pub 3 minutes walk away, ordered our food online, went and collected and took back to our boat. Absolutely stuffed ourselves and fell asleep...that shows how good it was!

Never had a bad meal from here, always hot and freshly cooked. They do a great home made chicken curry would highly recommend

Very friendly staff. I had mini fish and chips with mushy peas. Fish is delicious with crispy batter.

No idea how good or bad it was as we never received our order as it was delivered to the wrong address…

Uncooked Cod - I bought a large cod and chips today and took it back to work. I noticed the cod on the thicker side wasn't cooked through properly. The texture of it was somewhat slimey and the batter seemed to still be runny. I have attached some photos. As there is no way to email the shop I have had to post on here in the hope that they see this review.

I’m really surprised that this place has so many good reviews. We’ve just had the worst fish and chips ever. The fish was chewy and the batter was disgusting - too thick and soggy in places soaked in the obviously stale oil. We had to throw them away. The chips tasted like soap due to the oil. We’ve been there before a number of times and it has always been average - never good but this was so bad it motivated me to write a review. We certainly won’t be going there again. Where is your pride!

Let me just start by saying I’m a hgv driver and it’s my Friday treat where ever I’m parked to get a local takeaway….. now I fancied fish chips as you do read the reviews and I selected here. The fish arrived by itself in a box lovely crispy batter (no soggy chips near it) the chips arrived in a separate bag I was surprised how big portion you get 😃 the curry sauce is banging I’ve had fish & chips all over the uk and I’d quite happily put this in my top 10 🔥

We always come here whenever the mood for fish n’ chips strikes. The food is always amazing, tasty and fresh. Our main choices are cod and chips or mixed meat tray and a portion chips. Order ahead online and it’s so easy and efficient, with parking directly outside the shop too.

It's a takeaway, so don't expect atmosphere. I had a battered cod fillet, it was freshly cooked - took it home, and gave it 10 mins in a very hot oven to crisp up the batter. Perfect. Not something you can prepare at home, and a joy every once in a while.

Lovely chippy dinner this evening. The fish was perfect and our sausage dog couldn’t get enough of her jumbo sausage that we ordered for her! Would highly recommend.

Asked me 3 times what I wanted and still got it wrong. Chips undercooked overall waste of time and money. Won't be going here again. Avoid

New owners of Fishsmiths, put the prices up, and on 3 occasions chips were manky. Not the best start for new people taking over.

If ever you are in the Rugby area and had a yearning for Fish and chips you can do no wrong by paying Fishsmiths a visit. Wonderful freshly cooked cod in crispy batter, chips that are fluffy, crispy and non greasy, the battered mushrooms are a must. Probably one of the best chippies in the midlands if not the UK

Final night on the canal network and a fellow boater told us about this fish shop and co op! Co op was irrelevant but the fish shop was amazing! The food was to die for, i had a mediterranean chicken kebab meal! Staff and service were fantastic and came quickly as well! Highly recommend!

Have been to this chippy a lot. I have never had bad food. The chips are always hot and plentiful and the sausages and burgers are tasty and fresh. They do lot of different foods and the service is superb, the place is clean and tidy and they are open in the afternoons if you want an early meal.

Never had a problem here. Staff always great. Nice and clean. Prices are ok. Good parking. Outside seating. They even do a vegan pie. Only thing I would say is more vegan food. There are great vegan fish finger's/steaks, burgers, sausages and chicken nuggets now.

Ordered on line for collection. Not sure why that should attract higher pricing but food was good and prepared on time.

Used to be Larry's years ago, but now under new management, I had a great fish and chip dinner from here, nit greasy at all, food was well packed and hot! Staff were very friendly!

Fantastic chip shop. I cannot comment on the food as I tried to use fake cash but they wouldn’t accept it, will try again in a couple of weeks! but it looked very nice and I’m sure it would have filled me up. Great customer service.

How the mighty have fallen. Bitter brown chips and cold kebab meat, which I'm pretty sure is against food safety rules. Never again

Fish, chips, a couple of kebab options (3 actually) and an army of happy smiling faces eager to serve you. Portion size is generous and whilst there maybe a wait at busy times - Friday/Saturday evenings, you're never kept waiting too long. Have also had their delivery service via Uber and both times its been spot on and delivered by a friendly face. 10/10

I’ve never reviewed a fish & chip shop before, but felt I have too. I visited Fishsmiths after 8pm on a very cold Thursday evening to purchase Cod & Chips - the service was prompt, polite and efficient - I had to wait for the Cod but boy was it worth it! A huge piece in delicious crispy batter, the fish was purest white no skin and flaked beautifully it was simply the best I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this excellent Chippy!

Fish and chips alway good here. Juat tried the half pounder burger the other day. It was amazing.

Called in tonight for fish and chips. The best fish and crispiest batter we have had in a long while. Good price too!

I have a severe nut allergy and have struggled to find a chippy that can accommodate me to eat and that includes when I lived in Coventry. Moved to rugby 3 years ago my wife spoke on the phone to fishsmiths and they confidently reassured us that I can eat anything on the menu haven’t looked back since. The quality is always amazing regardless of what you choose and they delivery time is great aswell always welcomed with a smile when picking up a collection. Really appreciate how easy they have made it for me to enjoy a Friday night take away again with a severe nut allergy wouldn’t use anywhere else 10/10 👍

Food is always great portion sizes are very good price is good too staff are always politely spoken highly recommend.Even has outside seating area for eating as well.

If we fancy pie, chips and gravy for a quick, easy tea, this is the place we go to. The staff are always friendly and polite and the chips are invariably really good, also. Their gravy, peas and beans are all vegan-friendly and, if you want to ensure they have a vegan pie, phone them about 45 minutes beforehand and they'll ensure there is one ready for you, which is a really good option.

Visited Fishsmiths tonight - our first time as we were passing on the Oxford canal. Web ordering is a pleasure, and the food is even better. Ready on time and order handed over with a smile. Will definitely get a second, or third, visit from us while we are in the area. Deserves 6 stars!

Always great food and great smiley service. Can’t fault it. The only issue is the rising prices recently which is no doubt a function of Min wage, energy costs, ingredients cost and rent etc….but it’s getting to the point of being a treat rather than a weekday staple.

Had to collect because of failed delivery. Cannot ring to check whats happening poor reason why not delivered

Fantastic Chippy, with great options for Veggies & Vegans, not sure what the previous reviewer was on about as I go here weekly (Vegan 🌱 ) and the owner is always engaging and asking for ideas for new options. The chips are cooked separately which I really appreciate (although I'm not overly fussed as long as I'm only eating plant based foods, I understand its a challenge for a small business to offer exclusively vegan cooking apparatus). It's by far one of the cleanest fast food outlets I've been to with a friendly team behind the counter you can always have a joke with. If I had a criticism, it would only be that they don't deliver to the village I live in (but as its 8 miles away and no other restaurant offers delivery, they're not being unreasonable really 🤣🙏🏼)

Had fish and chips tonight. Fish was very tasty and chips were great too. All hot when we got them home and really like the new brown card takeaway boxes. Not many places get it right. Fab!

Excellent fish & chip shop. Kebabs are huge (the "snack box" is more than enough for a meal) and of a better quality than most places. Fish & chips delicious too. Friendly, efficient service both in the shop and when using delivery service. Highly recommended!
