Nice little chippy plenty of veriaty

The staff, food and service was all excellent. We were on the canal and wanted a treat, called up and they were helpful about bank holiday opening hours and we walked there and got a fabulous meal. Good value for money, attention to detail and very tasty. Sausages HUGE and the kebab was delicious. Fish was enjoyed very much and nothing was greasy and chips perfect.

I don't leave many reviews and tbh I loved when the chip van would come around the village but my experience tonight just...turned...my...head!! Needing a quick fix at 9.30pm I took a quick trip to the village chippy and have just finished eating the most delicious food. Owners have started serving fresh Naan (had keema) and wife/child went English... We all enjoyed our meals so much. The reason I'm writing the review in truth though is because of the inclusion, the team behind the counter were happy, encouraged a little talk, interested in our order and we enjoyed being there. In times gone by we would be waiting an age or would just be sat in silence but the lady who works in the hospital is lovely and knowledgeable, the gentleman - so interested in delivering a great order (I could still handle a little more spice though haha) Thank you for serving my family tonight, happy to respond in kind with this short thank you.

I had such a poor experience here. The guy ahead of me ordered meat and chips and they ended up serving him the wrong kind of meat. I asked for a simple chips and chilli sauce and it took them THREE attempts at getting the order right. They then insinuated that it was my fault?! Oh and they also tried to give me another person's change... Stay away...another chip shop lost to kebabs and piss poor service. Shame :(

I pass this chip shop regularly but have noticed it has changed and got nice and tidy, had a lovely fish and a chicken tikka kebab to eat later both were great but I had no chips as im not a fan yes I'll go again

For £8 I got kebab meat chips and garlic which had red bits throughout the meat and it and the chips where awful. My friends burger had more sauce on top than inside the bun and he also found there was no taste to the chips and the burger was tough.

Absolutely awful! 3 things missing from our order, fish was tough like chicken old I’m guessing!…plus waited a shocking 40 minutes for our order, don’t even bother!

Never going here again. Not only did they take an extraordinarily long time to do my simple order, they served and completed three people who came in considerably after me, then when I got home I found they had messed up my order and instead of two spring rolls they put in a pot of curry sauce, and everything was barely lukewarm.

Food is amazing. Since new owners have taken over the food is great. Can’t fault them. Delicious chips. Huge portion of fish. Honestly perfect. Really friendly staff. 100% recommend

Hopefully, they were just having a bad day. I won't stop here again when passing. I don't recommend this place. Slow service, poor food.

Expensive and awful avoid at all costs

Worst chippy experience I've had - Arrived 2nd in the queue, waited about 5mins to be served then a further +10mins for just a small portion of chips. Seemed very disorganised.

Battered fish, battered sausage, mushy peas and a large chips came to £12:80. Enough to feed a family of four. Staff very pleasant, everything cooked to order. Definitely coming back.

Morecambe and Wise used to eat here when starring in theatres in Coventry because it was the best fish and chips in Warwickshire ( eaten out of newspaper) - now its OK fish and chips but not as good as it was in the 60s!

Been to this chippy a few times. Usually just had chips and generally they were ok despite small portions. The last occasion I also had a battered sausage. To say this was fresh would have been pushing it, it was literally grey inside and I can only assume had been reheated once of not several times. The taste was awful. I will not use this chip shop again.

Great Food, Friendly Staff!! Can't Fault them at all!!

We all decided to head out in the sunshine for a short pub visit and fish n’ chips. Brinklow seemed like the perfect candidate, due to the lovely people, great little pubs and….a chippy! It’s been quite a few years since we’ve been to the Brinklow fish bar. Not busy at all, but did have a sign saying ‘we are short staffed tonight’, not a problem, we are patient! The lady serving us was quite abrupt (possibly down to the pressure of our order) but that’s ok….received the food…that’s where it all went wrong! The fish literally stunk the house out, it must have sat there for days before they cooked it. A small taste confirmed it was bad, all of them were the same…I was so upset as it a special treat ruined. The chips were re-fried, oily and tasteless. I really hope they try a little harder as Brinklow deserve a great chip shop!

Been coming here for a long time even before the new owners have taken over been very good until now had to kebabs meat and chips one chicken one doner all was ok until we found a black hair in the chicken kebab will not be back here again

Popped in for lunch ordered small cod & chips & a cheese burger & cheesy chips. We both loved our food. I don't have chip shop fish often so when I do I want it near to perfect as it can be. I certainly wasn't disappointed. The fish & burger were cooked fresh to order, white flaky sweet cod in a super light crispy batter & 2 types of cheese on the burger. We drove past about 5 chippies before we decided to drop in here, will I do that again? Oh yes for sure

3 battered sausages and a large portion of chips took 25 minutes. The sausages were cold by the time I got home as they were out wrapped for 20 minutes whilst the chips cooked. Won't be returning

Great takeaway in Brinklow with such a friendly man. Even small fish was huge and actually way too much and chips were delicious too and all freshly cooked to order. Not expensive and definitely recommend.

I've driven past this fish and chip shop for 20 years on the way to my in-laws (Sheffield to Swindon). I've always fancied sampling their wares, but it has never been an appropriate time... until today! Finally got to do Brinklow Fish Bar on a Saturday lunchtime and wasn't disappointed! Great chips, friendly shopkeeper. Worth 20 years of waiting...😁

Awful!! Fish full of bones and the chips were just all small bits that were chewy and greasy as if they had been re-cooked.

Chips were of poor quality ( small thinly chopped bits and lots of bruised potatoes). Battered sausage was nice but bread roll supplied was stale. Service was quick and friendly enough.

We actually go for a little drive out of Coventry especially to get chips here. The staff in there are so friendly, and we have never had bad chips from there. For £3.50 you get a really generous large portion. I can't recommend them enough.

Cod was pretty good as was the Plaice. Definitely fresh. Chips were quite OK, but very slightly cold. On balance I'd say worth a try. I was the only one in there on a Tuesday evening which was quite sad, but all guaranteed to be cooked as I waited.

Chips are not nice the place is dirty I walked in and walked back out and went to the Chinese next door that was very nice clean and friendly staff

My honest review..... This place is rubbish, got to be the worst food I have ever had from a chip shop. Chips were bland and pale. Donner meet was wet and extremely bland. Honestly don't even bother going there, travel a bit further and go somewhere else!!

Good quality food and large portions good value for money

The staff are friendly enough but you come here for the food and the effort served up to me was just dire. The chips were reheated in old oil and the potatoes looked like they were frost damaged. Most in our two portions were light grey and some black. We left over half. We had asked for salt and vinegar and the chips were drenched in vinegar. If I was a cynic I would say the idea would be to mask the taste of the potatoes. The portions were served up in plastic trays and I have seen children's portions larger at some chippies. This place is on the Fosse Way and should be busy but while I waited 20 mins for the fish to be cooked,yes, I was the only customer.They had one chance and blew it.

There was no obvious or organised social distancing in place, I just seemed to wait outside until there was no one in the shop. The fish was only being cooked to order which meant that wait times were extended.

I called in on a Tuesday evening and ordered a meat pasty and two scallops. They heated the pasty to order so I was pleasantly surprised that the pastry was flaky and not soggy. The scallops were good as well.

Called in at lunchtime for a sausage in batter and a pie and a potato scallop. Sausage was okay but the pie was dried out and the scallop was not cooked. Please don't post a reply saying call in again because I will never return and you should get it right first time there really is no excuse for serving up such poor quality food.

well, what a performance that was...didn't know who had ordered what then started shouting and effin n jeffin at me. I kept a cool head but the father and son duo didn't, how embarrassing for them - avoid at all costs.

Some of the worse chip I have ever eaten looks like they were really old potatoes they are using DISGUSTING and also cooked in old oil I used to be a cook and I know when some oil is past its use-by date and this definitely was I will never ever buy anything ffrom this chip shop again

Just really bad. Burgers are clearly bought from Sainsbury’s along with the cheese and the rolls. Crappy chips and dripping with vinegar.

called in friday evening after a long trip on a train wearing a face mask for most of the day so could not eat anything on the train so bought a car in hungerford so onmy way back to leicester i stopped here to get some food . i waited outside due to social distance rules , then when only 1 customer in the shop i went in and my order was beef and onion pie and chips , these are served in a box so charging for full chips but less than half a portion , the beef and onion pie was unfit to eat been warmed and warmed , each time they open i also had a can of tango that was a £1 so my meal after not eating all day and this was 745 pm by now was uneatable i brought the chips back home for my chickens and the pie i cut up for my cats they did not eat it even though they are ferel . so just the can of pop , i contacted the shop via facebook message , and the owner wants to know whats my issue . well its very simple when i buy food i would like to eat it . so i have reported to rugby council environmental health , ill see what happens

Had a walk starting by Brinklow Castle. On our return, passed by Brinklow Fish Bar. Both my son & I commented how good the food smelt... We soon decided to pop in. Both very glad we did! Chips were delicious. I had All Steak pie cooked really nicely, son had mini fish. We sat by the church at the castle to eat and going by the appreciative noises he kept making, he really enjoyed it! Rated excellent by my fussy child! Thoroughly recommend both the food and the friendly service!

I just called into the chip shop after walking my dog around the Brinklow circle I bought myself chips and curry sauce to eat in the park only to find out the pie was hard and dried out probably from last night and reheated today the chips were not cooked properly still hard in the middle after throwing them in the bin in the park I thought I would go back and complain all I got was a lot of attitude and they would not give me a refund absolutely shocking would never use it again

Worst food I've ever had!! Fish was like eating plastic and the chips were under cooked. The mushy peas were weird tasting the whole meal was disgusting which had to be thrown away!

Called in to buy a large chips for £3.00. Had to wait for the chips to be cooked for myself and two people before me. The two people were served and then my chips were served and wrapped. When I got them home, apart from the few on top, the chips were the horrible ends, black bits etc.from the bottom of the fryer. We could only eat a quarter of them. Very poor.

We saw plaice on the menu but weren't able to have it. Sounds like it's never available which is a shame. Also seems to be a bit pricier than our local one in Wolston, which also has larger portions, sorry. But you're open on a Sunday, so that's a win.
