What are these people thinking of a regular portion of chips for one person is more than enough to feed a family of 4 , come on guys reduce the massive portion sizes then our could easily reduce the price , at the moment your prices are an absolute rip off there must be tons of waste

We ordered the food through the JustEat app and to be fair, the remainder of the order was cooked correctly however the chicken was still raw inside. We submitted the request refund through Just Eat however we called the store to enquire what can be done in this situation , the person who answered the call was adamant that all of the chicken is cooked correctly and without any faults and was quite arrogant and lacking any service in the way that it should have been done, insinuating that we were lying

“I like my chicken rare” said no one ever. Wasn’t going to do a bad review but after being called a liar by the guy on the phone he can stuff his good reviews. Very unhappy. Got told “it shouldn’t be pink, there’s nothing I can do” Ultimately this is a health hazard. Uncooked chicken is dangerous and will be reporting this to environmental health.

Nice fish and chips however it's got very expensive especially the size of the portions you get

Happy to open up shop early to cater for my works large lunch order today. Easy communication. Friendly staff. And most importantly the food was A1 and reasonably priced.

The staff are pleasent but the food I had Saturday was awful and went in the bin . Chips hard and full of bits and honestly tasted like they had sat there a long time . Sausage in batter very decent so I ate them . I’ve no issues but the chips has happend my last 3 visits so time to give up won’t return

I was in there last night and there was a family that ordered £48.00 pounds worth It wasn’t that busy as the young boys was getting it ready it was left on the counter. So the dad asked is that my order there. Going cold. For 1 of the young boys to start getting irate and was very abusive shouting and swearing. With no customer skills at all. They asked for a refund so they could leave. We WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK. You cannot have unprofessional people running a business with attitude like that You should be ashamed of yourself You are going to lose a lot of business with staff like that with no people skills

Had the lunchtime special, it was really nice, all of it.

Really disappointed, I have had many good orders from here. Tonight’s was absolutely inedible. The chips were stale and cold, tasted reheated. The fish was not labelled and both cod and haddock tasted the same. I had to re-order food from another restaurant. After calling to let the restaurant know I was disappointed with tonight’s order I was left even more convinced I’ll not order from them again. The customer service was terrible, argumentative and dismissive. I will often chalk things up to a bad day, and give a restaurant another chance, but it’s all about how you deal with it. I’m happy to return my uneaten food! I have requested a refund through the app I ordered through. The only thing that was good was the pot of mushy peas and the cans of Fanta.

Avoid this place at all costs. Every single time they get my order wrong! I called to rectify it and the lady on the phone said she will get her manager I could hear them in the back ground and the manager said just tell them I’m busy and there’s nothing we can do” absolute joke!

I've never seen so many Ugly chips on one plate. Medium Cod was the same size as a large one but medium was ready, but I had to wait 7 minutes for large. Rip off. £24.00 2 × medium cod and one chips. Oh and charged for tartar sauce. Should shut the place down.

Good fish and chips shop, large interior, obviously busy on certain days and at certain times, food is good quality overall, no dine in options, strictly takeaway. We enjoy our orders from here. I recommend the Chicken Heroes.

Staff are friendly. Place was absolutely dead though. Used to be good, not anymore. Quality lacking. See photo for an example of the low quality potatos they are using. Could be much better here.

Food is not as good as it was a few years ago .

I am vegetarian so the opinion regarding the fish is that of my better half. She had medium cod, I had a crunchy coated, fish shaped thing called a fishless fillet and we shared a portion of chips. Her loveliness was impressed with both the fish and the chips. The fish looked well cooked but was rather oily when I served it and the chips were golden in colour, medium crunchy and rather nice. The cost was around £17 with which I was a little startled but I am unaccustomed to buying fish and chips.

17 quid for chicken burger n chips and 10 nuggets n chips with a portion of onion rings seemed a little step but was willing to be won over by generous portions and food above the cut... Tiny fillet in the burger with very little taste, the chips were soggy and poorly cooked and not to mention the tiny portion for almost 3 quid. The nuggets were nice as were the Onion rings but I'd expect nothing less for the price. Hemel has far better options for way less money. Avoid would be my advice ;)

Very very overpriced , chips portions far far too big even the regular portion is too big for 2 people they could easily cut portion sizes and reduce prices so much waste it's rediculous

Original review: The only reason why I don't give 5 is due to staff tolerating highschool student's attitude that bothers other customers. Including giving them chips straight away when there is a queue way before they entered (though, I'm actually happy about that as they leave at least). The attitude includes them invading personal space of other customers because they can't bother going on the other side of the shot where it's empty, leaving the door open, if you're waiting for your turn to order or pick up your meal, they put themselves in between as a wall (this is why I said, I'm actually glad they get thir chips or whatever they ordered and just leave). And just to re clarify, my 1 star deduction is not because the students do something serious or outrageous, it's purely because of thir attitude that is tolerated by staff despite being close enough to greet each other by name. And i post here instead of filing an complaint because I'm sure nothing will change if I file a complaint but here, at least I can give a heads up for other people to not have thir day, or apatite, ruined because of them, and if possible to avoid hours when school ended for best results

Food is way over priced compared to every other fish and chip shop I've ever used in the past! The quality of the food is not worth the extra money so do yourself a favour and save yourself some money by getting your takeaway elsewhere!

Have had many takeaways from here over the last 5 years and only ever had one that wasn't nice at that was just the chips they tasted weird, but other than that very good quality food

This chippy is situated on a large council estate and I'm all for people making a living AND a "reasonable" profit, however if this chippy was to lower their prices slightly, footfall would increase greatly, and there profits would increase, so a win win for everyone ? just 1 more moan, who remembers some years ago we had a potato shortage in the UK and the price of chips increased greatly, BUT when it ended, the chippys FORGOT to lower the price down again, strange that, isn't it 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

This place is just getting worse everytime i think I will give it another chance. Cold chops cold fish. Do not ever order more than one item as it will be cold . Seem to cook one and let lete other go cook for ever and ever then the first is cold . I am done . Ill find somewhere else as it is not worth the money

Got there fairly late (930pm) £3.20 for a large chips!! I would say a regular or even small at most other chippies. The lady had a few bags of chips in the top heated section. She had one bag and added a few from another bag. I did question the size but she said nothing. They were not hot and had to put in the oven to reheat. Not impressed and would never go back. Very disappointed

Decided on going here for lunch on a Thursday 13:30. Checked online if it would be open. Got there and shutters were halfway down. Gutted Update the website and Google with opening times god damnit. Advise you always call ahead as opening hours seem to differ.

Exceptionally rude staff here. The fish and chips were great, and the lady who served me was lovely but the woman in charge was really rude. She was rude to the staff and customers and was barking orders. A really unpleasant experience.

Ordered on phone. Was told would be ready in 10mins. Partner went to collect. WOW already ready for collection 10 minutes. We live near Bellgate, but Fish'n'Chick'n at Grovehill is worth a taking the car to Fis'n'Chick at Grove as there is cooked better and not so greasy. Thank you, Jill

The best fish and chip there is in Hertfordshire. Fish is fresh and food is always cooks to perfection! You pay for what you get and the portions are generous to. Credit to all the staff there that work hard to make it an award winning chippie! 🎣 🍟

I ordered through just eat and had some delivery issues (Just eats driver,not Fish'n'Chick'n) I called the shop and they where so apologetic and extremely prompt and lovely getting my correct order to me! Plus - great food. Props to the staff there for wonderful customer service in a crisis👏👏

Blinking delicious! Literally can’t remember the last time I ever had such a decent chip shop dinner! The haddock was cooked perfectly. The burger was a decent quality meat burger and not filled with off cuts, and real cheese slices, crunchy lettuce. The chips are wholesome chunky decent chips that are ooooo proper potato decent chunk chip shop chips, that are delicious!!!!! Curry sauce is lip smacking. Cooked fresh and to order. Literally can’t find even a minute fault with this chippy. Am 100% going back without question!

Don't buy when the skinny guy with the glasses is cooking the fish. It's overcooked & dry. Know many people who won't buy when he's doing the cooking & go elsewhere. Buy when the Irish lady is doing the cooking.

Chips are bitty and dry with taste of frying oil.

Lovely fish and chip shop always seems busy. I have found on last couple of visits the standards have dropped not sure if they've changed management. Fish always tastes amazing so do the chips. Clear menu located behind counter and easy to see. Parking available with a parking lot just outside. Benefits from having local amenities located near here i.e. Tesco Express, corner shop, post office and also off licence.

This is the best fish and chip shop in the whole of Hemel Hempstead. Ignore the bad comments on this restaurant. It is really good. The fish is massive and the batter is nice and crispy. The chips are also chunky and are served in a big portion. I love this place and I love eating there. I know that this is just a takeout but they could maybe make the fish and chip a restaurant where you can eat inside. I know that that is difficult because the shop is small and it is by many other shops in Henry Wells Square but it would help increase the clientele for this place. Remember, Nando's did not have a lot of clientele until they did eat inside restaurants. In fact, Nando's was at risk of closure in the UK at one point, before they introduced eat in restaurants in the UK. So, just ignore the bad comments about this restaurant because honestly it is really good and you are always going to have some sort of customers who do not like your restaurant. In the end, they will hopefully get more customers in and make more profits from their good quality of food.
