Very nice restaurant with friendly, attentive service. We got a table without a reservation. Very good fish dishes. Price-performance ratio is okay. We had 3 courses and were very satisfied. Gladly again on the next visit.

Beautiful and suggestive location Courteous service We had the fish soup and the vegetable soup of the day For what we ate we can say that we are satisfied, we found the traditional flavors we expected The only sore point is the water: accustomed to the rest of the restaurants visited during our stay in Scotland and seeing the other diners we did not specify that we wanted tap water and we were brought a not cheap bottled water

A really wonderful restaurant that can only be recommended if you are traveling in Edinburgh. Friendly courteous staff, great ambience and the food is so fresh and delicious. We'd love to come back

We ate there. The food was very good and we were served by a Spanish girl who gave us very good advice.

We had a fantastic time at The Fishers Leigh! We loved the pace of the service, it was just right, allowing us to fully enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. The food was delicious and full of flavor, and the ambiance made the whole experience even better. A special shoutout to the three waitresses who were incredibly kind and helpful, making us feel so welcome. Oh, and as for the sticky toffee pudding? Definitely needed the whipped cream and ice cream, just as recommended! (Because, let’s be honest, there’s no such thing as too much dessert!) Would absolutely come back!

Disappointing. Fish and lobster had an unusual texture as though it had been frozen. Service was a bit miserable.

Avoid at all costs. My partner and I decided to pop into Fishers on Wednesday afternoon (19th March) for a quick bite to eat before heading back into Edinburgh. We were the only people at first in the restaurant, so were seated quickly and served drinks within around 15 mins of arriving. We ordered a few starter dishes, oysters, prawns and scallops to share. Firstly, the oyster shells hadn’t been prepped properly, the shells were sharp and dirty and parts of the shell were inside which didn’t make eating them a pleasant experience. The prawns were inedible, I actually had to spit one out into my napkin. They tasted dirty, were incredibly sandy and didn’t taste fresh. Last but not least were the scallops. They were stuck to their shell like cement, trying to slide them out of their shell was impossible and resulted in them breaking up into tiny pieces making them inedible. Both of us have eaten scallops countless times and have never had this experience. When the server came over to check in on us, we were polite but explained we weren’t pleased with the quality of our food. The server came across offended and tried to claim the scallops were stuck to their shell because they were baked, and the prawns can’t be sandy because customers that afternoon ordered them and had no complaints. We explained the quality was unacceptable and that we were only willing to pay for the oysters and cocktails. Shortly after, I’m assuming the restaurant manager (she didn’t introduce herself) came over to the table and began quizzing us over why we sent food back. Again seemed offended and used the same excuses as the server but apologised for our negative experience. Unfortunately it didn’t end here. My partner has been severely ill from eating at Fishers. It is clear he has food poisoning. He has a high fever, dehydrated, doubled in pain and suffered over 15 times visiting the toilet from being sick and having an upset stomach over the course of half a day. Not prepping and cooking seafood correctly can be so dangerous and my hope in posting this review is that folk will be more cautious before eating in this establishment. I’m not the first person to complain about treatment from staff or the fact they have become poorly from eating here.

I had the worst case of food poisoning imaginable after eating here. Avoid eating here at all costs if you value your health.

Exceptional mussels. Oysters okay. I wasn't crazy about the cod fillet and it was small in quantity.

Excellent experience, with traditional and non-traditional recipes, and incredible quality of fish. We ate the best lobster and mussels ever. Don't miss it!

Excellent food and service. We had a baby with us, and although there is no baby change, the waitress helped us to find a safe space for changing and set up the highchair. The vibe in the restaurant is very cosy and feels like you are in a ship!

What a wonderful place to eat. Service was amazing and the food sublime. Fresh oysters were some of the best I’ve had (and I’ve had a few!). If you are looking for a special place to eat, at reasonable prices, then this is the place for you. Oh, and the wine list is also fantastic!! Please leave an honest review once you’ve visited, places like this need all the love we have to give them. I’ll be back there as soon as I can,

What a great experience, fresh, cooked to perfection!

Very nice restaurant, great service and amazing food. We ate mussels, fish soup, monkfish and sandwich crab. All of them were really good. We also ordered the bread butter pudding and the pavlova. Both really tasty and made with passion. Great place. We'll come back to try more things 😊

I came across Fishers in the City first, and the meal was convincing enough to lead me straight to Fishers in Leith and the Shore Bar as well. Now, a trip to Edinburgh isn’t complete without a visit to all three. I am always blown away by the creativity and care in each dish. It’s classic fare presented in new and inventive ways, served in the most cozy and charming space. Delicious, exciting food paired with top-notch service—this spot is an Edinburgh treasure. Don’t leave without the sticky toffee pudding!

Second time at this seafood haven in the New Town of Edinburgh. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My scallops from Orkney were superb. The wine list was varied and well priced. The layout of the restaurant is great with multiple tiers giving it a comfortable vibe. Special mention to the staff who were friendly efficient and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant especially if you like seafood. PS I realise that my review should be for Fishers in the City restaurant sister restaurant for Fishers which Is in Leith. Apologies for any confusion.

Enjoyed an early evening nibble and honestly a wonderful spot! Fabulous fresh small menu, Scottish sourced when possible. Attentive and professional staff. A delightful spot for dinner when in Leith!

I think this is the best seafood food in Edinburgh.

Someone wrote; "The Best fish restaurant in town. Don't think about it, just go". Well, we did, and they were right.

Hard to fault, when food & service are this good. All of our dishes were very, very good, especially the lemon sole & the whole sea bass. Both small & large portions of the mussels were very generous and super fresh (no closed shells). Server & the kitchen took excellent care of navigating some allergies in our party. Can’t wait to return when next back in Scotland.

Had a late lunch here to try the local seafood. From the local fave menu, we had the fish soup, seafood platter and mussels. We also ordered a side of mackerel lentil salad. They were all delicious and hit the spot after walking around exploring Leith in the cold. We ended the meal with a generous serving of sticky toffee pudding. The service was great and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and we sat by the window. It was fairly empty as we came in between lunch and dinner. Recommend.

We've been going to Fishers at The Shore for many years... It has always been top class and today was no exception.... Simply the best

We had booked a table in bar area but it is high chairs and I have restricted mobility so they let us have a table in restaurant area as long as we released it in time for a booking which wasn't an issue for us .staff were very nice as well as helpul

Dear Fishers! I visited your restaurant recently and overall, I was really happy: the view is amazing, the atmosphere is cozy, and the food is not bad! But there’s a little detail I just have to mention: napkins. Yes, those! One napkin per person – I get the minimalism, but once I used my napkin, my cutlery ended up… on the table. I hope it was clean because that was a bit unexpected! Another small thing – the dirty dishes stayed on the table for quite a while, even as I continued chatting with my guests. Perhaps your staff simply enjoyed listening to our conversation in a language other than English and chose not to interrupt – if that's the case, thank you for that! :) Overall, everything was awesome! But I still couldn’t quite figure out – are you a bistro or a restaurant? Online, you're listed as a restaurant, but your emails say bistro. Best regards, your happy (and slightly surprised) guest.

Recommended by a local and it didn't disappointed. Great selection and knowledge of seafood, with extremely reasonable prices. Smaller restaurant that can't seat large groups which is fine with me, keeps it quieter and service much more consistent. From downtown, tram is the easiest way to get here.

A 20 minute cab ride from the hotel as the one in the city one was booked. But boy , im glad we ended up here! Eve our server was fantastic and helped us pick a great meal! She was so accommodating and nice and helpful. the food was killer good - fish stew, Pate, Mackerel salad and sardines app.... Cant go wrong here! Thanks Eve.

The environment is very comfortable and the food is delicious.

We had lunch here. The food is very good , tasty, portions are enough to fill u up. We had mussels that are one of the best we had ever, a seabream very interesting and with a lot of flavor, chips and a fish soup that was very very good. It deserves to pay the extra price for the food u get. The only downside is the fact that they almost didn't want to serve us even though the restaurant was empty. I think they are pretty selective with theirs custmers. 10/10 for food , 7/10 for service.

Lovely dinner here, we had the warm seafood platter for 2. The seafood was abundant and delicious. Service was excellent!

We have been refused as "the restaurant is too small" when there were clearly tables available and NOT RESERVED. The issue was the fact that we had children, at which the stuff were looking horrified even though we are talking about 3 well behaved girls. If the place is adults only, there's no shame in it. But for Christ's sake LET PEOPLE KNOW!!! Don't make us travel to be refused as your restaurant has no space to accommodate a table of 5..

I live in a rural part of the UK so, seafood isn't always on offer, but this place is absolutely stunning, from the moment you walk in, the Staff are super friendly, and can not make the whole experience magical, and the food is out of this world. Will definitely be back.

Everything was so nice and amazing

Family Returning from Aviemore and stopped in for dinner. We decided to share. So Queen Scaiiops, fish soup and lobster. We all love seafood and with no distinction these were the best of each by unanymous vote that we had ever had coupled with great and accommodating service and inviting atmosphere. Well done.

What can I say? Simply perfect! Fresh fish, soup with unmistakable Scottish flavours, excellent crudités, and if you happen to be lucky enough to be served by Silvia, well then you've hit the jackpot! A simple, professional and nice person and to finish a limoncello cheese cake, a bold but perfect combination. GOOD

Ideal restaurant for lunch, authentic atmosphere and dishes at good value for money. Point of attention: the oysters are very (very) large for those accustomed to fine oysters from the Breton or Aquitaine coasts, it is also suggested to serve them cooked if you wish. It probably doesn't appeal to everyone! Very good fish and chips.

I am amazed with this place! I booked there as a solo traveller and everything was extremely nice. The staff was very polite but also very friendly and normal! The food was fresh, delicious and fine price for quality and quantity. It felt as I was there before and I will.be there again.

The Fishers restaurant in Leith harbor is a real gem. The fish dishes were amazing, fresh and tasty - just a treat for the taste buds. What also pleasantly surprised me was the price, which was more than acceptable considering the high quality of the food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is friendly and pleasant, which makes every visit a great experience. If you like fresh fish, The Fishers is definitely worth a visit!

Overall, would be great if there were more selections on the menu. Cold seafood platter was a bit let down. Love the service. The waiter who took care of us was really attentive and helpful. Great atmosphere.

I had fish and chips at least 7 times during my stay in Edinburgh, and these were probably the best. Staff was also very friendly and spent a while chatting with us. The location itself is one of my favourite places in Edinburgh. Recommend booking in advance.

I was curious about the soup. In the small version, I got a small cup for a few spoons with three potatoes, carrots and one piece of salmon. I would probably go to Budapest to see how fish soup is cooked. Or to Ireland, when Hungary is so far away.... Big disappointment and the soup is not worth the taste or the price. I also had mussels in wine with bread. I did not receive the bread, but I was charged for it. I noticed this and pointed it out on the receipt. All fixed, but the £4 automatic tips did not match the level of service. I don't understand with hindsight the rating of a business that is among the best in Leith. It was a big disappointment for fish delicacies. Unfortunately, the tourist restaurants in the city are at a much better level and definitely at a higher level in terms of taste.

One of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been. Scallops were cooked in shell with amazing flavor and juice on it . The fish soup was so good, tasty and filling too.(it had potatoes , salmon, lobster) I highly recommend! Was a good find !

A friend recommended Fishers, and I’m so glad they did. We shared a lobster, which they split for us. Perfectly cooked! Also had Chardonnay by the glass plus sorbet. Very reasonably priced given we had lobster! Service was friendly and well organized. The atmosphere was quaint with (somewhat obstructed) water views.

Our waitress mentioned that everything on the menu was great, and we found that to be true. Everything we ate was fantastic. Highly recommend! Excellent food and friendly staff.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here with a delicious seafood lunch, while staying at the Malmaison Hotel just opposite, in fascinating Leith.

My wife and I had a late lunch there a couple of days ago. The service and ambiance was good, the menu offered an adequate range of dishes to cater to various choices. The wine and drink menu was comprehensive. Our choices of starters, main and desert were delicious. My son lives in Scotland and is a Chef and restaurant owner with a business further up in the highlands, he has eaten there and tipped us off about it, our Hotel was next door so we didn’t have far to walk. The cost was very reasonable and should you like seafood don’t hesitate to book a table, you won’t be disappointed.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Fishers in Edinburgh yesterday, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Scallops to start, followed by Goan fish curry, and gambas. Then crème brûlée and cheesecake with rhubarb. Spritzer and beer. Everything and everyone was perfect, including glorious sunshine.

I enjoyed the food and the service was nice. I was a little bit taken aback when I got the bill where it was handwritten how much is a tip even though I was going to tip anyway. It was really nice of them to serve me a mocktail (they just excluded alcohol) and salt and pepper squid was an amazing starter. For mains I had tempura crab burger which didn't impress me but it was delicious nonetheless. However I liked their homemade chips very much.

When I read reviews about this place someone said don’t think about it just go and I couldn’t agree more! It’s a quaint small place with very friendly service and delicious food! I would recommend a reservation especially if you go for dinner. I reserved a table for one at the bar for lunch. I arrived 25 minutes before my reservation (10 min before they even opened) and was greeted with a smile and no problem that they weren’t even open yet! The server sat me in the main restaurant area next to a large window. Ordered the scallops for a starter, nice sauce and little bit of bacon with them. Next were the fish cakes. I was surprised that they were fried but it added to the delicious flavor. They tasted like a fried mashed potato bite filled with delicious fish and the tartar sauce and fresh dill added to the already amazing flavor. The shrimp was my last dish. Peel and eat style served with the same wonderful tartar sauce. The Sauvignon blanc was crisp and delicious. The price was excellent for quality of food. All of the food that came out was timed perfectly giving me a little break between each item. I highly recommend this restaurant, don’t think about it just go!!
