It was an incredible experience. As seafood lovers, the tasting menu was a lot of fun. Some highs, some lows (mostly to do with salt), but overall, we were very happy. The 'corn dog' at the beginning was delightful, crispy, smoky, hot, and slightly spicy. The second course was my favourite. I called it shreddies with fish. I've never had such a well-balanced and tasty bowl of shreddies! I would say the petals were a little unnecessary. It was such a different style of dish than I've ever had before, with the cubes of trout delicately nestled at the bottom of the bowl that . More pickles would have been welcomed, though. The third course was the difficult one for us. We love mussles! And I absolutely adore fresh tarragon, so the flavours were spot on. The only issue was the broth. It was so salty that we were craving something unsalted to balance it. I decided to order bread. which, as a standalone course, was fantastic. It was a paprika foccacia that felt like cornbread and tasted smoky and salty with a smoked salt butter. So delicious! But it definitely didn't work or help with the mussel broth. The fourth fish course was absolutely amazing. The fish melted in the mouth. Again, it was possibly a little salty and needed some more sharp flavours to cut through it. But overall, I couldn't get enough of it. The dessert, despite being far too full, was one of the best desserts I've ever had. They managed to make rhubarb not slimy! And that sharp lime flavour was so tasty and very welcomed after all the sodium we had indulged on. We would love to come back!

Just had a lunch here celebrating my husband's and my birthdays. The environment was very relaxing and the staff were very warm and friendly. Ausrine attended our table, taking time to explain through the menu and seasonal dishes. We had brilliant oysters to start with, followed by a lobster spring roll and octopus couscous, and we shared an amazing champagne turbot as the main. For dessert, I had ginger bread with rhubarb, and it was so tasty (I'm very picky on rhubarb dishes). Overall the food was fantastic, from taste to presentation, and the staff were very nice. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys high quality seafood and a relaxing dinning environment.

A truly lovely meal! It was our first time visiting Dulse, me and my partner celebrated my birthday as well as our anniversary and they really didn’t disappoint. We were seated on a beautiful table next to the window, the servers were extremely attentive, but not too invasive which I was very happy about. We started with oysters, trout, octopus and mussels - they all were reasonably sized and very delicious. I am not a big fan of cooked fish myself, however the truffle cod was a very pleasant surprise and I truly wish I ordered another one 🤭 Overall a great experience and a perfect spot for a special dinner!

Overall, the experience was not bad, however, it did not reach all expectations. The BBQ octopus was full of spice and you were not really able to taste the octopus. The langoustines were borderline burnt and had very little meat. The pastrami trout, on the other hand, was very good. The main dish of cod was quite good. The cheese was warm and sweating which is not good. Overall not bad but not exactly worth ir and they are selling themselves slightly above what they are worth.

Loved the creative seafood plates here. The booking process was a bit complex and we wished we could have seen actual menus to decide between course menu & a la carte. Had my heart set on the lobster, which wasn't on the actual menu. Settled for the lobster smokie spring roll, which didn't really taste of lobster, as the smokie flavor dominated. The scallop was truly a delight & worth £12. It was a really beautiful & tender scallop. The trout pastrami was also a beautiful dish. I took the BBQ octopus as a main & it was perfect. I would definitely skip the brussels sprouts (very soggy) and seaweed potatoes. The cod was also a bit underwhelming.

Good but not yet up to the standard of Dean’s other places. The tasting menu was mostly very good, especially the coley. The mussels were tasty but lacked attention: several empty and broken shells, others closed so too many discarded. That’s OK for a rustic place but not for fine dining. The restaurant was very cold….15C…we could see the thermostat. Other diners were sitting with coats on throughout. It took a lot of persuasion to have the one member of staff call the manager to do something about it. The first response was “That’s above my pay grade”. I’m sure it will come up to standard but for now, needs some management attention.

Let down by poor timing and a poor cheese course. A couple of nice courses from the 6 that we had: the mussel crumpet and the trout with spiced cabbage. Please just stop serving Scottish cheese (the blue was OK, but as most cheese lovers sadly expect of Scottish cheese, the other two two were massively under ripe / not aged properly). Service; courses arrived on top of one another before we had finished eating the prior course at least twice during a tasting menu. Two other courses appeared immediately after we had finished the prior course.Too fast. Please put one waiter/waitress per table and keep a track of timing. Matched wines are an absolute rip off at £59 per head. We bought a (expensive) glass of champagne each and a full bottle of wine between two and it was still half the cost of the matched wines. Worse was that the bottle was brought to the table and we were asked if we would like to taste it whilst our aperitifs were still 80% full; another timing letdown. Also putting a default 12.5% tip on the bill automatically is taking the Mick. A tip of £27.20 is above what I would pay for well-timed service on food (10%), especially since the food and drink itself was already expensive. Another time I visited I left a cash tip as I didn't notice it had already been put on the bill. I only realised when I got home that I had paid £75 in tips; the waiting staff didn't mention a thing when they saw me leave an additional £40 in cash.

Conclusion: you pay way too much for too little. Service: more concerned with "processes" than with the guests. No connection and make a rushed impression without paying attention to the table guests. Food: sometimes burnt, the mussel dish lay on a spongy surface, the dessert made from very simple ingredients. Cheese board (extra supplement) came with dry tasteless toast. The dishes followed each other at too rapid a pace, leaving you standing outside after an hour and a half, while we would happily dine an evening with a five-course menu. Interior and atmosphere: cozy interior with simple furniture and somewhat (too) hard wooden chairs. Overall just good with nice background music.

I don’t understand all the rave reviews for this place. My partner and I were visiting Edinburgh from London – we love seafood and wanted to treat ourselves to a special meal. Unfortunately we left disappointed and hungry. The oysters with bloody mary sauce were the only good part of the meal. The portions for the small plates and mains were laughably small. We had langoustines and got about 3 morsels of meat from them, not the juicy big langoustines you expect in Scotland. The mains were tiny with a really small amount of fish and vegetables on them. We mentioned to the server that we felt portions were too small and all they said was they’d feedback to the chef. The restaurant also had zero atmosphere or ambiance, and my partner was sat in front of a coat stand. We were still hungry when we left – not what you expect when you drop £160 on a meal for 2. We ended up going to Bon Vivant for a cheese board and wished we had dined there instead!

An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Dulse We are currently visiting from Berlin and are passionate about good food (especially seafood). We came across Dulse on Google so decided to check it out last night. Booking was easy via the website. The moment we stepped into Dulse we were warmly greeted by the wonderful Bilal. The restaurant has a warm ambiance, a perfect blend of elegance and cosy charm, which set the stage for what turned out to be a truly memorable dining experience. The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive. Bilal was our main server but we also had two lovely female servers who delivered our main courses to the table. Bilal was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also had a genuine passion for each dish, which made his recommendations all the more exciting. He went out of his way to ensure we had a wonderful experience (bringing me an extra hot sauce because I loved it so much!) The menu highlights for us were the Cumbrian oysters (take both sauces, trust me!), the sourdough bread, the blue fin tuna and the octopus. We went for the catch of the day which was turbot (400g for both of us) with a creamy champagne sauce and all the sides!! It was a symphony of flavors that danced across the palate, balanced perfectly and cooked to absolute perfection. The chefs creativity and skill is apparent and all of the ingredients worked beautifully together and were so fresh and delicious. Despite being full, we were gently persuaded (by Bilal) to round off our meal with the decadent sticky caramel pudding and I’m so glad we did. The dessert, was the crowning glory to a delightful dining experience. The attention to detail, not only in the food but also in the décor and atmosphere, made the whole experience feel special, we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh who loves great food, wonderful service in a chilled environment. We can’t wait to come back again!

Lovely place with very nice servers! I wish we were placed upstairs as opposed to downstairs. It was very nice on the second floor. Just be aware that the bluefin tuna appetizer is very very small. As in you can eat it in one bite. It was delicious though. We also had the oysters and they were great! They had two sauces, but I would only recommend the vinaigrette as the other sauce did not pair well at all with the oysters. For my main course I ate the crawfish. The first plate I got was very underwhelming to say the least. Most of the crawfish were gray not only on the outside, but the meat as well. I ended up telling the server (which I never do) and they gave me a new and upgraded plate that was a LOT better. They also paired it with a sauce and some butter. I have never had crawfish with butter before, but it tasted amazing. I’m also happy the servers were eager to help.

Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor is something rare in today's tumultuous times. I look forward to returning to this amazing city and when I do, 'dulse' will be the first place we will dine. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Really just one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The space is impeccable and the staff is so excellent and welcoming. It's fine dining without the pretense. I can't recommend it enough.

We had an excellent lunch at Dulse. We opted for the tasting menu, which was amazing. The highlights were the scallops and the lobster but my favourite was the halibut. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service was first class and the restaurant had a nice relaxed atmosphere. I was the designated driver, but the other family members really enjoyed the cocktails and wine. Hope to return soon!

Nice Seafood restaurant just off Princes Street. We sat upstairs and had the 5 course tasting menu with a white Grenache wine to compliment the food. Service was excellent and the food very good.

When I ordered a meal online, there was a note on their website that asked you to fill in. I wrote this as a surprise for my husband's 60th birthday, so I booked this restaurant without my husband knowing the situation. When the waiter came to introduce me, I needed to take off my contact lenses and put them back on because my eyes were uncomfortable. He didn't notice this. So there are no surprises at all, including the fact that when I ordered dessert, there was no word "happy birthday" on it. I didn't mind if he wrote it in Chinese or put a sign on it, it was fine, but it didn't feel like a celebration at all, and the table was sticky. It was super uncomfortable. There was only one dish we ordered that I thought was too salty. It was basically OK but the presentation was not as nice as the ones online.

Des prix surfaits pour pas grand chose dans l’assiette…pas d’accompagnements avec les plats. Les produits viennent d’à peine 100km mais les prix sont triplés. Belle dégustation, mais il ne faut pas avoir faim 😬

Okay, overall a bit overpriced for what we had off the ala carte menu.

We were recommended this restaurant by another restaurant owner in the area, and were not disappointed! The menu was excellent - it was hard to choose just a few dishes because they all sounded so delicious. The advise and guidance from the staff was very helpful. We enjoyed the food, wine and appreciated the wonderful service - thank you for a lovely dinner!

Our favorite restaurant in Edinburgh. The seafood preparations are imaginative and delicious but we were bowled over by the burrata with Isle of Wight tomatoes, salted melon and buckswheat. We loved the decoration and spaciousness of the rooms and the servers were all wonderful.

My wife and I visited on July 26th to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary (though the restaurant was unaware of that fact). We had never been to Dulse before, so we were taking a chance, but our gamble paid off in spades and we had a perfect meal worthy of the occasion. The cosy, but tasteful decor and the warmth of our welcome from Jenny made an immediate positive impression which was confirmed through every step of the meal. We knew that prospects were good when the sourdough bread arrived on the table: no scattering of slices in a basked, but a whole small loaf with delicious whipped butter. The oysters were the best that we have had for a long time: plump and almost savoury in flavour and accompanied by two unusual but exceedingly good dressings. To follow we had trout pastrami, bass crudo, octopus - delightfully tender, mussels crumpet and lobster crumpet. When we challenged each other to choose a favourite dish, we couldn’t because every mouthful was a delight. The wines and cocktails ( a special mention for the lemon meringue!) were very good and, we thought, reasonably priced. The service was perfect: courteous, informative, and non-intrusive. Thank you to all at Dulse for a wonderful, memorable meal which was excellent value. We have already booked our next visit.

Gutted because this was my favourite chippy in Edinburgh but it appears to have closed. Cannot find a listing for it anymore on JustEat etc and was shut last time I went past.

Nice restaurant and nice atmosphere. My oysters didn’t seem right I ordered Whole lobster thermidor at £68. Very disappointed. It wasn’t whole. This lobster had no claws. It was dry and served on it own on a plate with a side tin of fries. No garnish to dress it up or make it look special. I didn’t complain because it would ruin the evening Wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend The bottle of Rioja was nice. My wife’s dish looked lovely.

My partner and I visited The Pepperpot with a couple of family members for Sunday lunch. We took advantage of the three-course set lunch (priced at £20.95) which had a good choice of roast meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes included

Very friendly and helpful staff. Following a recommendation, I ate the classic version of fish & chips, which was really very good and filling. I would go back at any time.
