Fisherman’s Catch in South Tyneside

Gluten free without the worry- we were told no risk of contamination because everything is gluten free. Chips no different to other places. Batter lighter but lovely & crisp. Curry sauce was lovely! I’m not gluten free but are this with my partner because he is. Really enjoyed our take away.

We have finally found an amazing fish and chip restaurant that we can go to completely gluten free and no worries of contamination. The food was lovely. We had four fish and chips, one burger and chips, battered sausage, mushy peas and curry sauce. All of it tasted wonderful. Wouldn’t even know the difference. Was so fresh and yummy. Lovely staff who were very happy to help as it was our first time. Our daughter was so happy to finally have somewhere to go that she feels safe in and can have things she hasn’t been able to eat for so long. Thank you very much. We will definitely be returning!!

Just enjoyed our first "worry free" visit today. We had a chippy tapas, large cod bites, smoked haddock and mozzarella fish cake, jumbo sausage, home made scotch egg, plenty chips, curry and gravy all gluten free 🙂🙂 they added chicken nuggets to the sharing platter for another table with young children. Recommended 🙂🙂

A wonderful experience. The restaurant is gluten free and I felt safe to eat anything on the menu. The food is delicious and my non gluten free partner said he couldn't tell the difference and that he really enjoyed it. It's also very reasonably priced, gf food is usually at a premium. Honestly, best meal I've had out in years.

Visiting our son at uni and thought we would go out for lunch. Not had fish and chips since being diagnosed as celiac so finding this gluten free restaurant made my day. Lovely crisp batter and made to feel very welcome. Thank you 😊

Fabulous fish and chips and such a breath of fresh air to finally find a totally gluten free place to eat. If you have never had gluten free batter, try it, it’s so much nicer and lighter and crispier. I’m not coeliac but my friend is and it’s a nightmare to say the least finding somewhere that he can relax knowing there is no cross contamination. Friendly staff and great portion sizes with free tea refills!!! We will be back soon to try the other tempting delights on the menu although it will be hard not to order those yummy fish and chips each time we go!!!

Excellent Fish and Chips, all gluten free, but you don't need GF never fear- it's such light crispy batter it's great for everyone, and stays crispy for deliveries. Comfy seats, good music, lovely people.

Perfect homemade chips, excellent quality cod, and all very light/tasty/non greasy. Loved the gravy. Really friendly staff. Best gluten free chippy I've had. Friend also enjoyed and couldn't tell it was gluten free. The fish shaped plates were a nice touch. If they can deliver to Newcastle (NE6), I'll be a frequent customer!

Great little place on Ocean Road, came across it completely by accident, and decided to eat there (being gluten free) Staff (family run) were happy and cheerful, and engaging. The food is cooked fresh to order and is amazing! Exceptionally crispy batter. The drinks are reasonable; especially t to he gluten free beers They also have a karaoke night during the week

An absolutely delicious treat of fish & chips. What a wonderful find; an entire take away menu of ‘freedom’ & no need to ask about cross contamination/utensils etc - BLISS! The batter on the fish was so lovely and crispy all over. The fish was beautifully cooked to order & piping hot. My non-Coeliac friend said it was THE best batter she’d ever tasted! Will definitely be returning. Great access too, inc level access facilities. Dine in option too. If you’re in the area - you MUST try!!

Went here today with a friend who is coeliac for takeaway fish and chips. Fantastic!! The batter was so crispy and everything delicious, fresh and hot. Travelled from Teesside to try it and I’ll be back!! Don’t be put off by the fact it’s gluten free, I don’t need anything to be gluten free and it was the nicest fish and chips ive had in a long time.

It’s really difficult to get GF fish and chips so what a great little find this place is. We weren’t really sure what to expect when we stubbled across this restaurant on Sunday lunchtime, but were pleasantly surprised by the service and the fish and chips. The lady who served us was extremely friendly and knowledgable about food allergies, she could not have been more pleasant or helpful. They even had a GF beer on the menu. The food was lovely, plenty of it and not silly prices, we will be back the next time we are in South Shields. Thank you and good luck from two very happy customers.

I honestly can’t recommend this place highly enough. There is a lovely family feel about the place, staff are really friendly and chatty. The food was AMAZING, had the fish bites, chips and curry sauce. Was the best feeling ever not to be worried about cross contamination and being able to have anything I wanted from the menu. As another reviewer mentioned, the staff are extremely knowledgeable about allergens which immediately put me at ease. I was so stuffed I had no room for dessert but did bring some millionaires shortbread home for later and can highly recommend!

This place is amazing, we had fish and chips for 9 quid and was absolutely enormous and the fish was amazing.lady with blonde hair behind counter was friendly and bubbly and explained that everything was gluten free,she was very allergen aware which as celiac so grateful for. If i come bk on holiday to this area again id definetly go back.

As a coeliac, I find it almost impossible to get gluten free fish and chips. Especially when asking if they use a separate fryer. The other big fish and chip company in the town no longer accommodate coeliacs. This place does gf batter, gravy and...
