Fish Lounge in Plymouth

Came by this evening in search of supper. Fish Lounge including its off sales counter has been renamed as Ocean Lounge Some tables laid but not open to the public on this Thursday in mid June 2022.

Plenty of competition in this area but really pleased with the choice we made, it was excellent. Fish & chips done really well, what's not to like?! Great little setting, friendly and helpful staff, very reasonable prices that are only a little more than a takeaway Food was plentiful but very good quality and tasted great. Looking for a chippy in this area, look no further, we will return

My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant yesterday and it was a lovely meal out. We went for the starter and main fir £14 deal. I had the halloumi for a starter and he had bbq ribs. Both came with a side of salad. Was yummy! Then for the mains he had a burger, which was essentially a tower of cheese,basically a grilled cheese burger which was amazing. Then I had the seabass. Again both came with salad and also a side of chips. The chips were not greasy at all and were thick chunky fish and chip shop chips, there were so many we couldn’t finish them all! Overall great food and great, attentive staff :)

Had supper here tonight and we were extremely pleased that we ate here. The starter of scallops was 1st class as was my sea bass main. My wife throughly enjoyed her scampi and chips, the chips are very, very good, The staff are very pleasent and friendly. We really look forward to visiting again

We finished our visit to the Barbican with a lovely Fish and Chip meal at the Fish Lounge. The meal was Great. This restaurant manages to combine the Traditional Fish and Chip shop with an added bit of Quality. The Staff were very friendly and made it even more enjoyable.

Top class food and service,only been once but already planning next visit.Cannot rate this place highly enough.

Brilliant food and excellent staff, The staff were helpful in letting us know about things on the menu and making sure everything was alright with the meal, which was fabulous and we will be going back alot

Lovely clean restaurant serving superb fish and chips and a tasty tartare sauce. The staff were very friendly and the service great. Recommended!

This is our second visit and again another super experience. Brilliant food, brilliant staff , what more can I say. The scallops superb, the mussels superb, the seafood platter, out of this world. Thank you for a lovely evening x

We've just enjoyed a starter of mussels, fried halloumi and a main of hake (with a lovely and light batter), chips and peas and calamari with chips and salad. Huge portions, particularly the calamari. Food served to us promptly by friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant was very clean and with the windows opened wide on this muggy day, we heard some passers by comment on how lovely the food looked. How right they were!! Would definitely recommend.

The best fish and chips I have ever had at 64 years of age that is quite some accolade! Very friendly and very clean. The batter was gorgeous and not in the least bit greasy , and the fish tasted so fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would highly recommend it.

My husband ordered King Prawns in Tomato, Chilli and Butter Sauce for a starter. Prawns fine but Sauce was essentially lemon and butter with halved cherry tomatoes and 2 slivers of fresh red chilli. It tasted like salad dressing and not a Tomato, Chilli & Butter Sauce as per the.menu. Mussels main good, I'd ordered King Prawns as main and asked them to omit sauce. Was ok but lacking because I had really fancied the Tomato and Chilli Butter Sauce. Staff were really helpful but overall disappointed with food.

I can only say the experience here of their Take away option was fantastic. We called in late at night ( After local event Fireworks) and tried these as an option, they were amazing quality, crispy batter, well cooked chips, no extra fat running around the box, practically no oil seen at all. Tasted great, service great … best choice on the Barbican for Fish n Chips !!! Well done guys !

We stumbled on the fish Lounge on a recent day trip to Plymouth. The menu in the window looked very appealing with a nice selection of Fish and Seafood. We were welcomed and shown to our table, the place wasn’t particularly busy but it was early lunchtime and we later were informed that the place was fairly new so i guess the word hasn’t got out… as yet…. We opted for the Mussels to Start and the Crispy Prawns with Sweet Chilli Dip,both were great, the mussels were meltingly tender and the wine and cream sauce was well seasoned and plentiful in supply….. For Main Courses we opted for Calamari with Chips and Salad and my wife had the Seabass with Garlic Butter. We could not fault the mains, the Calamari had a really good crisp coating and was perfectly cooked as was the Bass and the portions on both were generous. I must make a point of saying how great our waitress was, didn’t get a name but she was incredibly friendly and human and very good at her job, priceless in hospitality IMO. Overall this was a first Class Lunch Experience and we look forward to returning in the future 🙏🙏

Decided to try the fish and chips and we weren’t disappointed! I had the chips covered in mushy peas and my husband the cod and chips. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Excellent value for money and we liked the fact we could sit outside on their wooden benches. Very happy and would definitely recommend. Unfortunately we ate all the food before we could take a photo! Excellent!

Exceptional fresh seafood and wonderful atmosphere were in abundance. We felt really well looked after and all our food was delicious. I totally recommend the Fish Lounge and their seafood platters in particular.
