Fish Inn in Thanet

Me and my four friends went here and ordered fries for the five of us. In the moment we thought they were nice, we even took them home to eat the rest of them later. However, that same day a couple hours later I threw up, and the next day one of my friends threw up FIVE TIMES. Him, me and two more of our friends had an upset stomach for two days. The fries were the only thing all of us had eaten, so there isn't anything else that might have caused this. I do have to say the fish and the burgers were nice and we didn't have to wait for long to get our food. I wouldn't recommend the fries, though, unless you wanna end up with an upset stomach.

I have only been to Broadstairs 2 Times. The 1st time I noticed that there weren't many fish & chips places by the Coast. From the outside this place looks like nothing special and the 1st time I went to Broadstairs I walked straight past it. I noticed it had some good reviews, so I thought I would give it a try. The staff told me it's going to be freshly cooked and ready in 10 minutes. After 10 minutes it arrived. The fish was delicious. The batter was nice and tasty. The chips were cooked to perfection and were fluffy in the middle. The chip portion was a good size. All in all I really enjoyed the food at The Fish Inn. The staff were polite, I will be back to try their fish platter.

10 out of 10! TASTIEST cod I have eaten for a long time. Popped in during a visit to Dickens Festival with my friends, who have also written a review. Fish was cooked to order.

We saw many fish and chip shops on our day trip here; however went to the "tourist" shop (delightful by the way) next to Serene Place. She recommended this and I am so pleased - I am 54 and it is by far the best that I have ever had and I could have had the OAP meal. Ordered large cod and kids chips and not one complaint. Am very happy to return when I next visit Broadstairs as one of the highlights of the day so thank you and sorry if you thought I was being awkward (I always am) :)

Despite telephoning the order was made to wait , yet there was no one else in there. The batter on the fish was soggy not crisp & chips weren't that hot . Can't recommend I'm afraid.

Great chip shop and great value for money. A large portion of chips is £4 and I challenge a family to eat it. A £4 portion of chips at 'The Star of The Sea' ( yards away) would struggle to satisfy one person. Friendly staff and an extensive menu

We have always used the Fish inn in the past (takeaway) and had very good fish and chips with good portions, we have not been for a while and after our meal tonight will not return, portion sizes are tiny and chips would appear to have been reheated , fish batter was soggy and price not cheap , shame , not sure if owners have changed ?

Absolute 10 out of 10! The Fish Inn delivered 12 individually wrapped portions of cod and chips to my scrabble tournament and the food was absolutely delicious!!! The battery was crispy and everything was clearly freshly cooked. The lady who delivered the food was charming too and Alfie who responded to my messages was very helpful Will definitely be ordering again!

Ordered a takeaway over the phone , I arrived on time to collect. Other people served in front of me & as a result it was 20 mins after I arrived to walk out with my order which had been kept warm above the fryers. This business is not well run & I won't be returning .

Been here twice over the last 2 months for takeaway food. The food itself was ok. I found the service strange. The young females serving appear to just stare at you when ordering and come across as dismissive and aloof. While ordering, they are more interested in peering out into the road to try and gauge who they think is walking past looking in at them. The conversation being had of their vast relationship experiences was laughable and embarrassing. Complete lack of people skills.

We I've in Broadstairs so are partial to good fish and chips. Have been using Fish Inn for many years on and off - it's had its up and down periods. We've tried all the fish and chips shops locally in Broadstairs, but this is by far the best. Plenty of room and tables to sit in and eat if you wish and there's a variety of non fish items on the menu too. The chaps running it at the moment are always friendly but most importantly the fish is good. Size is hit and miss but given the current climate with fish industry you kind of expect that. Never had a problem with the quality of the fish, always cooked well and nice and white with a good portion of chips. We find a medium chips is ample for the three of us. In preference, I prefer my batter a bit lighter and crispier but that's just me. All in all good fish and chips.

We had an excellent meal here today. Served by 2 very friendly guys, the food was absolutely amazing. Easily the best fish and chips ive had for a long long time. all the food we had was freshly cooked, boiling hot and very tasty. Seafood platter, cod , burger in batter, and battered mushrooms. Highly recommended , well done guys, keep up the standards and good work.

We went to this restaurant because it was the best rated on Tripadvisor, we weren’t disappointed, the food was fantastic and there was plenty of it, the cod was nice thick and white with a lovely golden batter and when it came out on the plate with chips I was gobsmacked by the portion size, which generally fish and chip shops skimp on but not this one. My wife had the platter which was great and my son had the 1/4 pounder we had a drink each and it came to £34 which I was pleased to pay as the food was amazing. I will be going back again and I have recommended this place as well to others. Fantastic.

Had to get Fish & Chips in Broadstairs and decided on the Fish Inn. SUCH yummy fish, great chips & curry sauce! The cod bites were so good and the plaice! Would go back here again (over and over and over) if we were local!

After spending 4 hours travelling down from East Midlands on the train last night we decided to get a takeaway from here as its not far from where we're staying. Pretty long wait for food ...which was fine initially.... ordered 2 cheeseburgers, one with sweet potato fries and one with chips and a cod and fish. Got back to the apartment to find one dried up burger on a stale brioche roll with no cheese or chips, I one portion of sweet potato fries that were so over cooked they were inedible and no burger at all and some fish and chips flung into a polystyrene box and squashed down into some paper! I can appreciate they got busy as we were waiting, but how can you get it so wrong !? It cost £17 too so a very expensive mistake! The food that we actually did get was inedible and went in the bin, I'd definitely not recommend!

Chips were not cooked fully , not crispy . Fish was in batter that wasn't crispy & tasted dry . 3 people serving didn't have a clue. One customer came back as he had got the wrong order.

Came here to get some dinner whilst staying in the area. I had a large Cod & Chips. It was well cooked, well priced and I was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and polite.

We regularly visit the Fish Inn in the High Street Broadstairs for our fish and chips. We have tried most others over time and these are by far the best. Friendly staff, good prices, lovely food makes us come back time and time again.

What a lovely establishment! Delicious food and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Dropped in spur of the moment whilst dog sitting in the area. Daisy got quite the reception outside when I went in to pay, earning herself a sausage from the kind lady working this evening. She’s been missing her hoomans so as you can see, it went down a treat! tried all of the local fish and chip shops and this is definitely the best, quick service when theyre not busy and worth thw wait when they are! always clean with friendly staff. lovely tasting chips and fresh fish. Ideal location if u want to sit and eat in the park right next to it.

We popped in here to grab some fish and chips to share on the train home. The lady who served us was absolutely lovely. She was incredibly friendly and when she found out we were sharing, she put in some extra trays and forks for us. The food was delicious - fantastic fish and chips were just right. The perfect end to a day on the beach. We will definitely go back next time we are in Broadstairs.

its a basic local fish and chip shop, no frills, friendly, even though we were obviously not locals. liked the fact it did grilled fish with salad - I had grilled haddock with chips. they serve evan bottled water. fish was very fresh. As for heinz ketchup and they will provide it. I brought my own and waitress was ok for me use it. very clean, and didnt smell to greasy, would go again for the good old british fashioned fish and chips

As I walked in I was greeted and just felt a lovely friendly atmosphere. The food was cooked from fresh and when got home we all throughly enjoyed it the best fish tasted by my bf and Dad in a long time they said. Excellent value for money also. Used to go here a few years ago when I worked closed by , decided to go back to see what it was like . We both chose the "Special Plaice,chips and mushy pea,s . I,m afraid that it was,nt at all "Special" and was in fact over cooked and dry and the chips and mushy pea,s were Luke warm . The plaice looked shrivelled up , unappetising and was very dry due to being very over cooked . What a disappointment !

Very nice staff, low prices and the food is prepared before your eyes. Fish and chips are very delicious and the chips taste also without Ketchup or Majo. If you want fish and chips, and you're in Broadstairs, go go there anyway!

We've been going to the Fish Inn ever since we've moved to Broadstairs. The portions are generous - frankly a large cod and a large chip portion feed 2 people quite easily. The fish is fresh and tasty. We just keep going back.

We went during the busiest time in Broadstairs folk week. The shop was very busy but they had a slick system in progress so we didn't have to wait long. The food was delicious we ordered two mini meals with our order and they size portion was excellent value for money. This is now my favourite fish and chip shop in Thanet.

Although a tradition it is not often that you get such great fish and in such a large portion size. Chips - always go for large and expect to waste some as not all full size and some end pieces or overcooked smaller ones.

This is my favourite chip shop in Broadstairs, located towards the top of the high street, a 5-10 min uphill walk from the cliffs (and the beach). Staff are very friendly and have a good sense off humour, with ample seating. They offer grilled fish as a gluten free option if you cannot have batter, but again the chips are cooked in the same oil as the gluten items. The price per portion is alot better than the cliff / beach end of the high street, and is my default ship shop for the family in town. Plenty of parking outside, free after 19:00, and a free cash point a couple of shops down.

I hadn't risked getting a takeaway for quite a while as all the ones I tried dished up more batter than fish and the fish was nearly always over cooked and off white. Last night I tried the Fish Inn. Amazing! We had large cod (2 pieces!) and plaice with chips. £11.10. Good value. The best thing was the fish. Thick, juicy with the lightest crisp batter. Beautiful! I was so impressed and would definitely recommend.

A regular haunt when visiting Broadstairs - they've never let us down yet! HUGE portions of tasty food, reasonable prices, friendly service - what more can you ask for. Treat yourself to cod and chips and head for Pierremont Park where you can sit and enjoy an al fresco meal.

I have not much time to eat and this restaurant is perfect because the cooker is quickly and it is very cheap. I have eaten hot dog, chips and coke at £3. Wonderful

We had a small fish tea here one lunch time small fish was exact there was more batter than fish and it tasted more of Greece than fish so disappointed will not be back

Visited this restaurant for a takeaway based on tripadvisor reviews. Sadly, found it very disappointing for a number of reasons. Firstly, it doesn't look particularly clean in spite of having a 5* hygiene rating, although this was issued early in 2014. Floors were dirty especially in the corners and everything looked greasy. Cod was very fresh though and portions were generous however, chips were cold and the scampi was the worst I've ever eaten. Basically, breadcrumb balls mostly empty apart from tiny pieces of minced scampi, this was also cold.No excuse for any of the above as I was the only customer.

This fish and chip restaurant is one of the best in Broadstairs, generous well cooked portions served by pleasant staff, I would recommend a visit any time, and certainly go back on a regular basis!

My wife and I had lunch here on a recent Saturday lunchtime. Our fish, chips and mushy peas were freshly cooked, good quality and good value. Eat in facilities are clean but basic: a handful of tables with no toilets in the cafe/takeaway. But we were happy to have come across it and can recommend it if you are looking for a good fish and chip lunch and don't mind the lack of refinement.

We always have takeaway fish and chips from here whenever we visit Broadstairs. However, we decided to eat in house this time. We had the OAP special , but what a shock/surprise. The portions were enormous and defeated my husband and me. The service was very friendly. The cod was excellent, the chips, though not excellent, were good. I would definitely recommend this fish and chip cafe, especially for people with large appetites.

Initially went into Broadstairs to visit another eating establishment who had changed their menu,not for the better.on walking along the high street we found the fish inn.The members of staff were polite and most helpful,the restaurant was very clean and everything was freshly cooked.we went as a family,the portions were very generous and served with a side salad,the prices compare with others in the area and for the size of portion were good value.good variety on the menu too not just fish and chips.we would definately make a return visit.

Excellent food and great service. Everyone was happy and talkative whilst I waited for my rock, I was also offered a complimentary cup of tea. The young girl behind the counter was also polite.

The portions & food are great , the owner is always very generous & chatty .I am concerned however about personal hygiene , the older guy behind the counter touches his nose & face whilst serving , this is not good.

Very good food, and nice people. Good quantity for 6 pounds, so very good value. We were used to the London prices and quality, that was horrible (at the places we have tried), and you can pay more than 15 pounds sometimes, for a not so good food, and a small portion. Here it doesn't happens!

Its only a chip shop with a few tables but the large cod, chips and mushy peas was really tasty. Rock and chips was excellent as well.highly recommend it four meals, three fish dinners with mushy peas, one battered sausage with chips and curry sauce four soft drinks £32 decent.

This is a nice fish and chip shop but very pricey a nice treat but not all the time. The fish is of good quality as like most of the products their chips are beautiful. You can sit in to eat and the place is roomy. The staff most of the time are friendly

We had a trip to broadstairs beach in the summe went in to tescos to get few bits and people in there recommend the fish inn! We had a meal in the restaurant and the food and the people in there was excellent!! Would highly reccomend it

We took a trip to broadstairs in the summer, one of the local residents, recommend the fish inn as the best in broadstairs so i had to go for myself. We were welcomed in by the friendly staff, orderd our food, it was cooked fresh we wasnt waiting long, served with a smile our food was perfect crispy chips, lightly batter cod and piping hot mushy peas. This is deffenatly the best fish and chips i have ever had, i will be a regular from now on.

A small establishment in the High Street with Take-away and four tables. We ate in and were served by a delightfully happy young waitress, Amy. But three was a happy atmosphere too, not least in the dozens of locals collecting their meals. Large portions of haddock and plaice were cooked perfectly and served with a nice salad and far too many chips. Reasonably priced too.
