Great chips - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Efficient service.

Purchased a half lot fish and chips today along with other food for my three children. I was extremely disappointed with the fish . Called no manager available to complain too until Tuesday . Used this takeaway loads over the years this is the last time the fish was extremely small.

We normally like Fish 'n Chips in Fresh Air,. However: This time in the Autumn Chill, we Chose an Indoor Chair! A Clean & Tidy Establishment with ONE Slight Flaw: The Walking Area was Slippery from when we entered the Door. Floor Tiles are not always best choice when Grease & Fat is heavier than Air. Thus: Caution is Required as You walk to Your Chair. Tasty Fish in Ample Portion to traditional Chips. The Mushy peas were rather Watery reflecting late Our Afternoon Trips! Staff were Pleasant & Efficient : Tho We had to wait our Turn to be Fair. As the Queue for takeaway was deep : 'First come First Served' We Share!

Piping hot, Crispy moist haddock with huge serving of chips. Batter was delicious albeit a little oily for my taste. Service was slow. It is recommended you reserve beforehand. Great value for money includes bread & butter. Takeaway had a never ending queue which is a testament to the freshness and quality.

Only vegan option was not available.

Always great food served here. Much more than just fish and chips on the menu. And don't start me on the milkshakes... 18/10/24 Take Away Shop...don't do it. Just don't do it... My order was easy 1 x small cod, chips and peas. 1 x haddock on its own Surely they can't mess that up...huh!

Excellent Fish & Chips. But do something with the sticky tables, it's always a bit of a ming.

Brilliant gluten free fish and chips. Food always hot and tastes great. Staff are helpful and very friendly. Good portion sizes and reasonable prices.

We used to live in Seaton Carew and used to go to Fish Face almost every Friday night as we thought it was the best in Seaton and probably the whole town as well. We moved away from the town a few years ago and decided to return to Fish Face when we returned to visit family. However the whole experience was a total shambles. First of all they only took cash and no cards, luckily I had enough cash. I ordered 4 meals including a large and a small fish and chips. The total bill seemed rather large and whilst I was trying to add the cost up mentally from the price list shown, the guy who served me suddenly said he might have over-charged me (he had charged for two lots of large fish and chips). I got a refund for the difference. Had to wait as no fish or chips ready (only 2 other people in the shop) Eventually got the order and took it back to the house only to find the same guy hadn't give one lot of the fish & chips - out of only 4 lots how can you miss a whole order??? Had to go back again for the missing order and the same guy knew exactly what was missing, and had to wait again for more chips! Barely got an apology. The food however was a disgrace. Even the "large" fish was small; both were dry, chewy and with thin, watery batter. The chips felt they were covered in leather. The mushy peas was just an amorphous, dry, green blob and the curry sauce had the consistency of toothpaste that had to be spooned on the food with a teaspoon. Quite possibly the worst fish and chips I've ever had, and a disgrace to the town. Apparently Fish Face had changed owners recently. I'm afraid they don't deserve to succeed, especially when there are much better fishies within a few yards of this place. Do yourself a favour and go over the road - we wont be back.

One of the members of staff had a bit of an attitude. Went to the counter and answered the phone ignoring her queue of customers and asked me to move (politely) and within a nano second asked again (not so politely) so she could do with some work. Other staff were great as was the food

Wow, this has to be the best fish ‘n’ chips in the town, if not the north-east. We are always given a friendly welcome to Fish Face and it’s become a family favourite, on our visits up North. The range of options is good (cod, haddock, scampi), plus pensioner’s size portions. There’s gluten-free options too.

Sat 45 mins and still weren’t served with 2 young children saying when is food coming applauding won’t go back

My daughter is glutton free so it was nice to go have a meal with her that suited us both. It was very tasty.

We had excellent Cod & Chips at Fish Face. Hot, crisp & very tasty indeed. Good draught lager was available to wash it down nicely. Great value for money!

Bought grandson a portion of chips worst chips ever 85% were scraps never ever go to this chippy again

Came to visit the other day and was going to dine in the restaurant, as we walked past the takeaway side two girls were leaned against the servery chewing gum and talking away to each other. We walked through the dine in doors and stood at the "please wait here to be seated sign", we stood for five minutes and no one came, the girls on the other side didn't even flinch or attempt to tell anyone we were there even though they made eye contact with us. Will happily edit my review if next time someone attends to us.... So watch this space I guess. Updated review as follows, Finally had chance to give these another shot, this time chosing the takeaway side. Was served pretty quickly by a young gent this time, the chips here are the best ive ever had, crispy and hot. The rest of the order was also above average. Updated to 3 star 🌟 given this recent visit but still baring in mind my previous visit.

Visit to Seaton Carew as despite living an hour away had never been. Really love walk along the seafront. We could smell the fish and chips. We called into Fish Face as we wanted to sit inside. We were seated quickly and given menus. We didn't need to wait long and a lovely lad ( sorry I didn't get his name ) came to take our order. I had haddock chips Mushy peas and my.parents had the pensioner special which was great value , small cod , chips , bread and butter and tea , they had peas and curry as a extra. Our food was delicious the fish was so nice and the chips were perfect. I had a latte which was lovely and my parents both had tea. Definitely recommend if you are in Seaton Carew and I would definitely go back.

Great little restaurant. Took 5 kids for lunch. Service was fab, very friendly, understanding and helpful. Portion sizes for kids was great, really enjoyed our meal. Highly recommended, especially if you have kids with you.

Food was lovely.... but outside was filthy with food dropped and the counter in takeaway was disgusting. A wipe down occasionally should be standard.

The fish was delicious, but the chips were well overdone or had been sitting there too long time before serving. The chips were rock hard or some were too crispy.

Nice lemon sole, bigger than I'd expected. Chips weren't as good as I've previously had when using the takeaway. They were quite hard, not in a nice crispy way. Table service was good, and they accommodated 6 of us quite close to restaurant closing time.

Really nice fish and chip shop. Crispy fluffy chips, not soggy or overly oily. Fish tasted fresh and moist with a nice batter on. £15 for a can of coke, pot of curry sauce, large battered sausage and chips, and a small fish and chips. Fish and chips were cooked fresh so nice and hot. Quick service. Indoor seating or a few seats outside.

With our 8 year old grandaughter never again waste of 30 pound even the tartre sauce was curdled .fish was all batter over rated over priced

I have been to Fish Face at Seaton on several occasions and always enjoy the food. The staff great and very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Starting with bad, I've never encountered such a thick and oil soaked batter in my fish eating life. Minimum of 8mm thick everywhere. It's so thick I'm wondering if this is a regional preference thing. I didn't like it at all. The lemon sole inside was let down by the batter but was thick and cooked. The chips were not generous but delicious as was the curry sauce. The battered gherkins were the best part, salty, crunchy, and hard to stop eating.

Nice crispy chips every time we've been

This place has really changed for the worse, missed a kids chicken nugget meal and garlic from two chip lots. This is with 1 hour notice ordering online. The portions have went down and the prices have shot through the roof and beyond. Will not be going here again.

This is our go to place for fish & chips in Hartlepool. The others surrounding it are not a patch on Fish Face!

Regular fish & chips, brown bread & curry sauce

Noticing this fish shop with attached restaurant while driving through Seaton Carew and fancying fish and chips I decided to stop. I am really glad I did as my lunch was truly excellent. I had large cod and chips which was £14.50 and my add ons of mushy peas,a slice of bread and butter.a pot of tea and a bottle of water brought the bill to just over £21 not cheap but well worth it. Both the fish and the chips were delicious. I would say you need to be really hungry to get the large option as it was huge . If anywhere near Seaton Carew I recommend you give it a go. There is a pay and display car park almost opposite.

Sadly the fish shop has gone way past its best last year it was really nice infact the best Haddock in the area now its terrible earlier this year it was going down hill however, thought I would give it another go yesterday it was disgraceful the fish haddock was like leather, far too over cooked. Unfortunately the staff need training in how to fry a fish correctly you can't expect school leavers to be fish fryers. After many good years won't be back. Its a shame you have to put Hodgsons name on the menu sure they won't like the quality fish destroyed this way.

My partner and I went on Good Friday....was nice! Today we got 2 pensioners specials and a kids meal....the chips were inedible....I couldn't eat any.....we all left them....when we paid the person at till....he asked if it was OK...my partner said no the chips were awful....wasn't interested!

Sadly, the once excellent place to get haddock perfect has now dilapidated into terrible. I have used this restaurant for a few years now due to the excellent quality of the fish namely haddock unfortunately earlier this year they started over cooking the haddock until it resembles leather. I give them another go yesterday and unfortunately it was worse. The staff are mainly young teenagers that really can't tell the difference between cod or haddock. To advertise Hodgsons haddock is an insult to Hodgsons.

Staff can be rude and intimidating when ordering food not very polite, I do not single people out however this time I must female who served me and my mother had no hair net in blonde long hair that was going onto the counter top when bending forward, came across she didn't like the job. No people skills.When we left we went and sat in the car, the same female was eating chips out of the chip holder as we seen her in the window. where they scoop to serve and was wearing FALSE NAILS! You'd expect hygiene standard to be up in places but -0 I'd give this. Fish face is normally our place to go but after that not a chance.

I'm a bit confused about which cod & chips is the regular and which is the large. The large is almost double in price of the regular and the only noticeable difference is that the large chips come in a wire basket. I tipped out the chips onto the plate and took a photo to compare with a regular and I can't see the difference. The photos of other reviews have massive cod in the large meal, so I'm convinced all the large portions are actually regular portions with the wire basket. Disappointing first experience, I'm loyal to the almighty cod across the road and will remain loyal. We only popped in here as there was inside dining available. Staff and quick and friendly, dark interior that needs way more lighting.

Absolutely disgusting ordered haddock to take out , no way was this haddock unfortunately I had to chuck it in the bin not edible at all, had a few chips to dry to eat won’t return

Yet again great fish meal. Why pay £37 as reported in media for fish & chips at Tom Kerridge London restaurant? when we had 3 dishes of scampi, fish & chips and beautiful sole for less and with quality Tom would be hard to beat! The only down side about Fish Face as that in this day and age they do not have zero beer...surprising when sales are dramatically increasing circa 40% in recent months. Understand this is a family business so obviously out of touch with drinks market.

Good fish and chips - I had the haddock - lovely fresh-tasting fish and crispy batter. Not oily. Lots of chips. Quick and friendly service. I would definitely recommend.

We went here today as our usual chippy(Young's) was closed - we weren't too impressed! Paid £10 for what would cost £6.20 in Young's and you get a drink included at Young's! The fish was decent but the chips were scrappy and a fair few were rather tough - we didn't like the mushy peas at all, they had a very strange taste... Will we go here again - that would be a no from us I'm afraid....

This was our first visit and would definitely go back and recommend it. The food is lovely, very tasty, and plenty of it (we got two pensioner specials). The place itself is spotless with lovely-looking tables and chairs. The staff was very pleasant and quick with our order. I'm looking forward to taking my family there for lunch.

There were 16 of us that prebooked a table to eat there on 27th December and the table was set up ready for us all. The staff were very friendly and because of our numbers did table service. The food was cooked fresh and to perfection. I would thoroughly recommend eating in or getting food to take away from here.

Best cod and chips I have had for a very long time absolutely amazing, Large portions too! Washed down with a fantastic bueno milk shake.

Best Sole ever....melted in your mouth Consistently good fish here but still don't serve zero alcohol beer like their competitors. What a shame ...don't they read media that sales of zero are climbing because so many customers want it? Support don't drink & drive initiative. Means we have to go elsewhere more often.

Lovely fish and chip cafe in Seaton carew

Fish Face is our favourite local chippy but today has certainly changed that. Understandable we came 40minutes before closing but we were made to feel rushed as staff stood and hung around our table, as well as cleaning the floors with what must have been a full bottle of bleach. I understand end of day in restaurant having worked in food and retail however to do so while customers are still eating is not okay, especially since there was a toddler present who was distressed at the smell. The staff had binned our order and so our food arrived 5 minutes before closing, I only know this as staff were speaking out in the open front of house area that our order hadn’t gone through. To make it worse we were overcharged significantly by £7, which is a lot considering. This used to be our favourite place and I’m sad that we will no longer be able to come for our usual chippy tea due to the disgraceful and unprofessional behaviour in the restaurant today.

We have fish and chips a LOT, and these were the best we've had for some time. Cod was firm and tasty, batter perfectly crunchy, and the chips were fluffy and a little crispy like they'd been double cooked

Table for two in a busy corridor with no windows all we were offered even though there were tables for four available. Went elsewhere so can’t rate the food.

updated review.. prices much increased since last visit and portion sizes also reduced, I think its what's called geed-flation and shrink-flation. Dont mind either as long as not excessive but NOT BOTH!!!

We are regular visitors due to fish & chips hard to beat in a nice welcoming restaurant. We had both the regular cod and exceptional succulent sole, beautifully cooked with light crispy batter. The chips were also just right. The only downside is they still do not have zero beer which we always enjoy at almost every other restaurants now. Perfect otherwise.

A great chippy in Seaton Carew with affordable prices. Food and service is good and the restaurant is smart and well kept. I had cod, chips and peas and a latte. The cod was cooked well and was tasty and chips were spot on, the peas were pretty good too and the service was swift. I can't give more than 4 star for food though unless they start making homemade batter instead of using premix flour but it's better than most I've tried around the UK, especially for the price and portion sizes. Deffo recommended if in the area

Second time we’ve visited… and can honestly say the standards were not met the second visit and has stopped us returning… Fed 5 of us and we everyone’s food tasted bland and tasteless… such a shame as first time we loved it!!

Theres only one place to go if you want the best fish and chips. The fish was nice and thick and cooked to perfection, the chips were of a good size too and also cooked to perfection Fantastic batter on the fish. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and finally the staff were brilliant and really friendly. 5 stars + from me.

Portion Size & Anaemic Chips, £12.95 for large cod and chips, usual price, but the portion size was more like a regular. The chips were Anaemic, and we hate those mini fryer baskets, 12 chips! Wish we had gone to our regular Seaton Carew chippy, but thought it would be nice to sit in. Our local resteraunt does large portion with bread and butter and pot of tea for the same price with peas too! Staff very nice and resteraunt nice, but they need to look at the competition for value for money,

(collection for tea at home) Batter was burnt so the fish was dry and shrunken. Chips were undercooked and white with half the carton looking like toenails and a portion fit for a 2 year old child. Gravy was like engine oil. Went in the bin and will never go back.
