used the fish shop twice during my stay in my stay. some staff looked happy but some staff look unhappy chips and sausage where ok

Yes, basic seaside fish and chip fast food type restaurant. Seats a little cramped for a big lady but the BEST haddock I have ever tasted. Beautiful white fish and lovely thin crispy batter, yummy! My husband had cod which was apparently equally as good. Not the cheapest, but definitely the best.

Placed order. Fish and chips. Granddad had hair in batter. Lots of flys in cafe. Oredered tea with food which never arrived even after we asked. Left without getting the tea Was offered a refund but told them to keep it as the offer didn’t sound a genuine sorry

We're local, and decided a afternoon to Torquay to have a stroll around and grab fish and chips for tea. Well we found RF closed due to isolation rules, so a few doors further down we found a local chippy! We ordered a Large fish and chips, a sausage and chips and 2 cans of coke - £21 We was charged for the above plus for an extra sausage we didn't order 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ The tray was half full of chips and the fish was a fillet of... a fillet of fish, thin and tasteless. There was more batter than there was fish! Everything was cooked fresh, however it all could have been cooked a little while longer, The chips looked and tasted barely cooked, and a bit earthy 🤷🏼‍♀️ some chips had a hint of green! 🤢 so they was left for the bin! The best tasting part of this meal was the can of coke! I wouldn't waste your money.

Exactly what it is supposed to be, nothing extraordinary, but good fish and chips. Nice, friendly service.

Excellent food light batter on fish which I like as there is nothing worse than more batter than fish but here is totally the opposite more fish than batter everything about the meal was excellent even the staff are pleasant courteous and saftey first with their masks on

I like my fish and chips but have to be careful as I'm becoming a bit too - how can I say - fat... However this place does excellent fish and chips with great curry sause at a reasonable price especially as it overlooks the harbour. The mature Scottish lady who served us knows her stuff, and was exceptional in her customer service... Something many others could learn from. Food great. Cost reasonable. Hygenie very good

came here for lunch food was nice bit weird how the fish was square but still yummy only down side is the butter my misses was given came directly out the fridge so was unspreadable on her bap.food took a while to be cooked but was worth the wait.would eat here again

on a walk around torquay marina we were feeling like a little snack, as we came to thefish and chips restaurant the sign for mini cod and chips caught my eye, we went into the restuarant,the so called mini portions turned out to be the best fish and chips that we had tasted, well done you people keep up the good work.

There are a few different places to get fish and chips down Torquay harbour at different price ranges too. Some are takeaway others you can sit in. They offer everything you would want from a chip shop, even curry sauce and my childrens favourite cheesey chips

Ordered a small cod and chips and a regular cod and chips have to admit expected the regular fish to be bigger than it was and it is the first time I have had a square fish. The curry sauce was well curry sauce, all in all, it was tasty but could have been bigger. Also, the tables were not wiped down and there was still stuff left out on the tables, they seemed a little short staffed. The toilet could have done with a clean as well.

Was not expecting it to be so amazing. Four of us had fish chips peas and a drink.the shop was clean fresh and had lovely staff. The fish was so fresh you could taste the sea.

We were visiting for the day and decided to have fish and chips. As fish and chips go they were perfectly acceptable good size portions for both adults and kids and a reasonable price

I live in Torbay and visited many times last year as we always enjoyed their fish and chips. Visited today , portions have halved one tiny two inch square of fish and half the amount of chips as on previous visits. We will not be visiting again. There are other choices around harbour for larger portions of fish and chios

My last day in Torquay and I fancied a nice big battered fish and crispy "melt in your mouth" chips. Opted for medium fish as some I have had from proper fish and chip cafe's have been huge. Alas, got a plate of rubbery "cardboard" looking chips and a mini square bit of fish with thin, flat batter.Plates were cold along with the rubbery chips. Ate the fish in four mins and left the chips. Went off to find proper fish and chips (which I did). What concerns me is foreigners might think that is proper British fish and chips and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Lovely little place fantastic food and was served by a very lovely friendly Scottish lady howevery only bad pints were it seemed strange to me that it Was only her an the guy cooking to cover the whole of the restaurant. I felt they needed more staff and the guy who was doing all the cooking could have done with a lesson in manners,kindness and how to smile and didn't seem that nice to thelvwly Scottish lady.

In previous years we had eaten in Rockfish which located near by and was excellent but having seen that a Small cod and chips from Harbour Fish Café was only around £5 we decided to eat here. We had the small cod and chips with 2 cokes and 2 portions of bread and butter and it came to the same as one meal at the other restaurant. The food was excellent and for the price paid it was fantastic value for money. Also another big plus was the dog friendly service - the moment we arrived one of he gentlemen working dropped over a bowl of water which was very kind. Plus you can bring the dog inside which is novel for us as Ireland is so backwards we cannot bring our dogs inside restaurants. We mentioned this to one of the girls who told me that her mum was originally from Cork. It’s and small world! 5 stars here for value, friendly service, great tasking hot food, dog friendly and a clean and well run restaurant.

When in here for fish and chips so by a horrible Scottish woman the tiniest sliver of fish I’ve ever seen more fish in a Fish finger walk out of here go left or right to find superior premises

We went here after swimming on Sunday and were a little early for lunchtime so it took a little while to cook them. We had chips and sausage and it was good value and the chips were lovely. Would definitely recommend

The fish is nice and batter tasty but the chips weren’t amazing and the portion sizes were tiny. I had a regular size and it was tiny. There was a small size and would have hated to see how little was on the plate for that! Square fish which was random. Service not overly friendly. Having looked on trip advisor after eating I noticed there are a few other fish and chip shops which are rated better. Not suprised. Would recommend this place ups it game a bit to compete. When we return to Torquay we will go elsewhere

I usually go here when we visit Torquay but it's gone downhill fast. These were some of the worst chips I have ever tasted. Horrible, small scag ends of frozen chips. I ended up throwing them away. Try 'The Great British Fish & Chips' or 'Saltwater' instead. They are vastly superior to this place. I'll never visit here again.

Very friendly Welcome here and lovely fish and chips good value both my wife and myself had plaice and chips not the biggest portion of fish that's my only little grumble lovely cuppa tea and friendly staff

friendly staff ,Square fish (who knew) and Small portions,tasted ok though,wouldn't return as I'm sure there are far better fish and chips in the same area.

We have used this chip shop every time we have visited Torquay but never again we called in today and placed and paid for our order and watched as they blatantly maybe by mistake gave our order to someone who ordered after us then gave us regular sized cod and said it was large when questioned so if you use this chip shop make sure you get what you order

We called in mainly because they offered small, medium and large fish and chips at reasonable price because we only wanted a snack.

We stopped here twice for lunch we had a small fish & chips very good and well priced at 4.95.they are right on the harbor front. staff was nice would we good back YES.!!!!.

This is situated by the harbour staff all very friendly service is 1st class meals all freshly cooked and reasonably priced eat in or sit outside would recommend

Found this chip shop to be very convenient when feeling peckish around harbour .Polite service and seems popular.

Ok fish and chips in a good setting. Their strap line says ' Probably the best fish and chips in the bay'. We say ' Probably not.'

My husband and I have visited this fish and chip shop a few times but on the last 2 occasions the food has been awful. In the summer we both ordered fish and chips, the chips were almost white and a few of them were quite raw. We did tell the waitress who said a few people had said the same thing. She said it was probably down to the potatoes they were using. We then returned last week as we will give anyone benefit of the doubt but again they were awful. They were pale hard and chewy. Iv never had chips where it was difficult to get your fork into. Then it was like chewing a piece of old leather. The pie was hard with little filling which is a shame. I would much prefer to give them a good review but they have had plenty of time to sort out the potatos.

Visited yesterday. Lovely fish and chips. Very friendly and helpful staff. You can even take your dog in. Highly recommend

We ate here a few times and I have gained half a stone over two weeks....Their fault for making such tasty food. Hygiene is also very good, the moment someone leaves then someone is over to clear and clean the table, most impressed with that.

As the sign says outside "Probably the best fish and chips on the harbour" well if they were the best, I'm glad I didn't taste the worst there.Lets start with the chips............. PROPER chips are supposed to be dark brown in colour, not the pale imitations that most fish and chip establishments serve up nowadays. This is possibly due to the fact most of them buy in ready {pre} cooked chips and so just re heat them because they can't be bothered to get a potato, peel it and cut it up into chips and fry them properly.For those of you that waxed lyrical over the chips from here all I can say is your own local chippy can't be up to much.Same with the fish..... Although not too bad I can't help but wonder why the fish I ate there less than thirty feet from the waters edge, paled in comparison to the fish I get from my local chippy which is about ninety miles from the nearest coast and my local fish not only tastes a lot better but is cheaper.All in all a dissapointing meal.So If you want GOOD fish and chips around Torquay....... keep looking!

called in at tea time today and so glad I did, piping hot, freshly cooked food fish and chips. Very friendly Scottish woman serving, extremely friendly and helpful. Recommend it to anyone who wants a British staple. Sat outside in glorious sunshine just watching the world go by and thoroughly enjoying the meal. # sizes, I had medium but small will be better for me next time, generous portions. They also do burgers now and nice little meals for children.

I thought I had remembered getting great fish and chips here about 12 years ago so on a return visit to Torquay made a beeline. However things have changed instead of nice crispy batter it was soggy and the fish a thin flat piece. However I must say that the batter was nice tasting and the fish tasted fresh. There was less oil on the plate than with traditional crispy batter so not all bad.

We visited the Harbour fish bar on a busy Saturday afternoon. I had pie and chips and my girlfriend had the large cod and chips.The cod was a very good size but was flat and with soggy batter. The pie was so crusty that I didn't risk cutting through the top because I thought a piece may break and launch itself beyond our table.The chips were bland and tasteless.I won't be going back.

Visited the sea front and wanted fish and chips. Bit of a wait as they were busy but the freshest fish and chips by far. Perfect. Will definitely return on our next trip down

Clean, affordable, fresh products and a great view. Staff are friendly and the children's menu offers a good selection. Portion size is enormous and their chips are to die for...proper chips, not fries or frozen reconstructed rubbish that tastes of saw-dust. Beautiful place to stop for dinner at sunset with a great view of the boats. Would happily return to feed my face again.

Delicious food. Very busy and a small non air conditioned restaurant. We ate on the sea front which seems to be the norm. Scampi was lovely. All freshly cooked and the best organised chippy I have been to. Staff were clean although they too seemed to be suffering the heat!!

Visited here by accident as we had vouchers for Pizza Express but they were full on the evening we decided to go, so thought we would give this a go instead. We are so glad we did as they are the best fish and chips we have had for a long time. The fish is so fresh and the batter is light and delicious so much so that my husband was disappointed as I normally leave half of mine for him to finish (not from here!) Will definitely be back again soon

family came down to visit us we all went for a walk along the harbour and came across this place so we ordered fish and chips to take away they were cooked really nice si next time the family are down we will be back for sure

We came here for lunch were a bit worried as there was a long queue. The staff dealt with everyone quickly and efficiently. We took our fish and chips and ate them by the harbour. They were delicious. Would highly recommend.

We visited in July 2016. It is a great place to eat in or take a way and look at the views. The food was really good and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend you visiting here and sampling the food whilst receiving great service

We have visited here previously and were so impressed we went again on July 6th this year. The fish and chips are wonderful and the scampi is just superb. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and can recommend it to others. A lovely spot to eat and affordable prices. Will be eating here agiain later in the year, all being well.

The board out side said best Fish & Chips on the harbour, this was no under statement.The staff were welcoming all had a smile. The food was not cooked until you ordered, but we did not have to wait too long for it to be delivered. The chips were nice and the fish very tasty, you could tell it was cooked fresh.we were a party of 8 but that did not put them off good service.

Visited for takeaway fish and chips which were very fresh and tasty. Large fish was almost £7 and was no way as big as it should have been, chips again very good but not enough for the amount paid.

We arrived soaked to the bone, but once inside, we warmed up and dried out. Food was tasty and well cooked. I suggest the large cod and chips as you get a great portion! Service staff were very friendly and the place was clean.

Had a large Cod and chips for my dinner on Saturday evening 3rd October. The cod was lightly battered and the chips were really fresh. I enjoyed this very much and can strongly recommend it.

There are many options in the harbour for traditional fish and chips, but the days of 'The Chippie' being a cheap eat are long gone. Hannah's was excellent but get there early, they fill up fast after 6pm!

Me and my partner have been a couple of times for takeaway food and never once had no complaints, the chips are lovely and the fishcake is amazing, that good I crave it constantly lol. My partner has the chicken and mushroom pie, he loves it. The staff are also very nice and accomadating, best chippy we have had in a while!

You have to wait for your order as it is usually busy as it is also a takeaway however the food is well worth the wait. The fish is in a traditional but light batter and it is not too greasy.

Tried this place as Rockfish Takeaway is now closed. Fish (Cod) was ok but the batter was poor. Not crispy and didn't cover the whole fish. We also ordered a battered sausage which turned out to be of the absolutely poorest quality 'cash & carry' special. The takeaway was served in plastic takeaway boxes which, once the food had been removed to put on the plate at home, were swimming in grease.Would I go again? Not a chance.

There are many fish n chip restaurants and take-aways around the harbour so the prices are very reasonable, we chose a take-away as it was a lovely sunny day and sat by the marina under the watchful eyes of the resident seagulls. the fish n chips were nice and fresh and I always think they are better eaten outside in their paper wrapping. Well worth a visit as you are spoilt for choice.

My partner & I have been holidaying in the West Country now for 5 years, and it has become tradition to have Fish & Chips on our last night. Disappointed that 'Rockfish' was closed for a refurb, we spotted this place a few doors up right on the Quay, with magnificent views across the Harbour. The weather was stunning, with the sun still warm and slowly setting (around 7.30pm) so, although there is plenty of seating inside, we chose to sit outside. We chose our food (fish, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, plus a tea and a sparkling water) and ordered inside. There was a little bit of a delay in ordering (make sure if you are eating in (ie not having take away) you have your table number and queue at the till not the take away part) but it is clearly a popular place, judging by the number of orders building up. Because of this, I was worried we would have a long wait, but our drinks arrived within 5 minutes, and our food arrived about 10 minutes after that, piping hot, and plentiful in portion size. The chips were lovely, not too greasy, the fish beautifully fleshy and moist, and the curry sauce (a huge portion for only 80p) was divine, quite possibly second best to my local chippy! The only drawback to our visit was the noise from the boy racers who seem to think there is something cool about driving at breakneck speed up and down the Harbour in their souped up Fiesta's, the irritating family from Birmingham on the next table who would not stop moaning about their portion sizes (get a life, it's a chippy), and the dive-bombing seagulls taking advantage of the tables that had not yet been cleared. Overall however, if you like a good old fashioned clean, efficient, reasonably priced chippy without any of the fancy pretentiousness of some of the more modern establishments these days, then this place is highly recommended.

We went for a walk round the harbour and called in the Harbour Fish and Chip restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised, firstly the staff were so friendly and the menu has a good selection of different dishes not just fish and chips,it is also licenced so you can have a glass of wine or a beer with your meal, the premises are very clean. The meals were well presented and very tasty...will go there again. it also has a take away option.

we tried the new restaurant for lunch called Jacks waterfront overlooking Torbay harbour..What a delight,lovely ambience and the the food excellent we had the cottage pie with vegetables.the manageress Kelly and her staff were friendly and efficient we will definitely be back to sample more of the menu. This restaurant is licenced and is open all day well worth a visit.
