Fish and Chips Bognor Pier in Arun

We’ve picked up cod & chips a few times over the last couple of years and never had an issue! Going by reviews you wouldn’t go but I see most are a year or two over. We had 2 x cod & chips cost £16.70, or there about. Decent size fish with thin batter, rather than thick crunchy batter which we aren’t keen on. One portion of chips is more than adequate for two so rest gone in the freezer. Overall very good.

Monday at 12pm playing loud hip hop that was out of sync with the view, time of day and setting. Haddock frozen so dry on eating. Batter tasteless. Overall worst fish n chips we’ve eaten. Over priced and odd! Go elsewhere for food.

Fish wasn't as fresh as you’d hope and was very chewy and dry. Batter was soggy underneath and very greasy. Chips not nice because I suspect the whole lot had probably been kept warm for quite some time. Not many places to eat near the pier but would go without rather than eat any food from there again.

I'm not sure what was worse the young girl who served me with an attitude and basically threw my food on the counter at me Or the absolute disgusting food they served us.. Chips had been fried a good 3 or 4 times they resembled Pork Scratchings. The seagulls eat more than we did - £30 down the drain!

My daughter paid £2.75 for a large portion of chips. SHE GOT 26 CHIPS. Unfortunately did not open them until to far away yo complain. Will not visit again especially as there are better quality and far better value chippies nearby.

Fab fish & chips! Clean & friendly service. Reasonable price. You can takeaway or sit in. A lovely traditional meal at the seaside. Thank you!

I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews before eating from here. After spending the day out, we were looking forward to traditional fish and chips while admiring the sea view. We put in our order, only had to wait about 10 mins (but two of our kids ordered chicken nuggets) so was a made to order meal. This has to be the best fish and chips we have had in a long long time - I normally order a pie and chips since I’m not that keen on our local cod and chips, but since it wasn’t on offer I went for the meal deal of two cod and regular chips for husband and I. When it came out and the server put a cod and chips in the box and asked what I wanted on it, I said “no it should have two pieces of cod to share In the box, she said “no you get it in two boxes” so we each had one box of food and so much to eat and such good value. My family of 5 meal was £27, our friends also ate here and also said was the best fish and chips they had in such a long time. Great finish to a great day!

Save your money. Two portions of fish & chips with soft drinks was over £18 and it was awful. I don’t think the fish was even cod and the batter was soggy. Long wait for the food too. Avoid at all costs.

The fish was grey and so thin and covered in soggy batter. The chips were greasy. It was a long wait from placing our order but if the food had been edible that would had been ok. We seriously thought about returning it but would replacement be any better? We thought not. Whoever owns or manages this place needs to give serious attention to staffing with competent people and changing their supply chain.

This used to be a good chippy but now it's just plain awful. Firstly the length of time to get your food is a joke. 30 mins for 2 cod and chips? Just not good enough. Secondly, employ some staff who actually can give the customers their correct orders. 2 cod and chips ordered- given 1 cod and chips and a saveloy and chips? While we were waiting for our food, all you could hear was customers moaning about the food being wrong. Third, fish and chip shops should have fish right? Eh no- ran out of cod and haddock after we were served. Finally, the food itself. Small previously frozen fish in a soggy batter. Size of the fish is exactly like what you buy in the supermarket, so wonder if this is exactly what they are serving up. Chips pretty bad and soggy. The issue is there is no competition on Bognor seafront for fish n chips anymore so this is all you get. Utter inedible garbage.

We had a nice swim at Bognor Regis and thought we’d support the local fish and chip shop. Chips were cooked in fresh oil and tasted exactly as fried potato chips should. The fish tasted ghastly. The batter isn’t a good recipe and the oil it was fried in wasn’t fresh vegetable oil. The seagulls had a feast. Fix the fish and I’ll return.

My friend stood waiting for 25 minutes for two portions of chips and two bottles of water. I know with COVID it might affect service but honestly, 25 minutes for two portions of chips?! I could have peeled, sliced and cooked the chips myself in the same time.

I have never eaten cardboard but can imagine it would have a similar texture to the chips I was served, the sausage in batter had little flavour and was literally dripping with oil. I was passing through and this was the 1st fish and chips I came across, look around there must be better available.

Working in line with the Coronavirus regulations we were walking along Bognor Regis promenade. We decided to have some chips from the pier fish and chip shop. The queuing worked well, the staff were efficient and helpful and the chips were perfect and very tasty.

Was in a queue, about 20min. The service was a nice and polite out door take away, ordered fish n chips on the meal deal 2 cod n 2 chips £13.75 it was ok, as a one off, I've been to better that also tasted better for a fish n chip shop. There's is better up here but as it's inthe time the whole country in no wherewas open.

Our first time here, service was polite but we had to ask for everything as they didnt provide napkin or fork or any sauce. The fish was very geasy and no taste what so ever. Chips was good, regural portion is massive,non of us could finish it.£21 for 3 portion of cod and chips not a bad price but not a good quality fish and chips. We wont return.

What a disappointment, we ordered two cod and chips and one separate portion of chips, unfortunately there was no vegetarian option for my stepdaughter. The fish was that horrible smooth, light look, and when you cut into it a lot of it was hollow with very little fish inside. The chips were possibly frozen, I’m not sure, hard to get chips wrong but they managed it, they weren’t cooked through and tasteless. They had no knives and forks, no serviettes and didn’t serve tea either, that had to be purchased at a ice cream parlour next door. You can usually rely on a seaside resort to provide a good fish and chips, but sadly,not here. Safe to say we will not return, ever....

3 forks, large box of chips and a great view down the beach. Sat in the sun watching the tide come in. A great lunch time. Lovely cooked chips as well.......

Fresh fish and not too expensive. Best to have it on the sea side. easy to reach to. Avoid weekend afternoons as it can get busy.

Pedí pescado y muchos guisantes. El pescado era precioso. La batería estaba crujiente y el pescado justo. Guisantes blandos era encantador y delicioso. El personal era encantador. Un montón de amable sonriente da este año! Espero que estancia ya que es preciosa a ver.

Very poor quality fish and chips would not go back. Fish appeared not to be very fresh and was greasy and the chips were also limp and greasy.

Whenever I visit the seaside we always have fish and chips on the beach. Unfortunately these were the worst I'd ever had. Loads of batter and hardly any fish - the fish there was was flat and hard. The twice cooked chips were awful.

Nuestro primer viaje aquí resultó muy agradable y caliente, comida bien preparada, bueno, el servicio amable y una excelente relación calidad-precio. Sin embargo, en nuestra segunda visita el pescado y las patatas fritas eran fría, el Scampi muy mal cocidas y el servicio muy pobre. Un comentario más que una queja con el personal fue ignorado.

He visto algunas de las críticas más abajo y lo que me sorprendió bastante. También recomendó un local, éste y el uno al otro lado de la carretera con pensionista Dough en frente.

Bognor sea front Closed from about 9.30pm.Not even the Chippy open.The height of holiday season and the seafront is a ghostown. Perhaps everyone is in Butlins having fun

Recommended this PLAICE by a local >>>>> Possibly my London accent confused him as I said "a nice fish restaurant to eat in " He must have thought I said avoid.We ordered Two Haddock and chips Two child meals Sausage and Chips and a Burger and Chips and 4 various drinks.The fish batter was Hard reheated Chips poor been fried earlier the sausage was dry BUT THE BURGER my Grandson said was perfect.The Tomato sauce was a pinky colour I have never seen pink tomato's but as I keep reminding myself somewhere in the world it is 5pm at anytime of the day.First impressions looking at the menu all dishes West End prices so you would expect top quality But you wont get.Even the bill was rounded up to £29 to which I held my hand out to receive my £29 but as explained by the staff I owed them that amount ...I very rarely rate a meal as poor but I only gave that mark as the Man that took my order smiled ..now I think that was to an internal laughSorry boys must try harder but who cares I DO

We decided on this restaurant as it was sit in and it was a bit chilly outside. We ordered two children's meals which we had to pay extra for drinks, a fishcake and chips and cheeseburger and chips. The chips we had were disgusting, the "red sauce" was more pink than red and every condiment we used were plugged up with salt, sauce, etc. We all left most of the items on our plates. The service was bad, one person serving the restaurant and the take away service. Definitely would not go back. Stay clear and look for somewhere else to eat

When i came in the summer, I ordered a quarter pounder and a small portion of chips. I then waited for about 45 minutes. So then i went up to the counter and asked them where my food was, And then they gave it to me saying "Sorry we forgot to server it". When i opened it the chips were stone cold and the cheese in the burger was falling out of the burger just like it was thrown on from a few metres away. When i took a bite to see how the burger was, they put it in a deep fat fryer! I don't know if thats right or not but in my opinion i don't rate that sort stuff. Please do not come here. Maybe i was the only person to have this experience but i hope this doesn't happen to you.

We went to buy some chips from here. The girl kept on forgetting what we had ordered (Maybe you should write it down?) and kept on having to ask: "What was it again?"We had to wait for the Chips to cook which is a pain but at least it was fresh.Two battered sausages took ages to cook.A man from upstairs came down and helped himself to food and was swearing using the F word.Girl forgot our ketchups, we had to remind her.Good prices, edible food but Poor service.Focus on the Customer, not your droll conversations.

about half the price for fish and chips compaired to what we are paying in london. To be honest i was not expecting much but was pleasently suprised. nice piece of fish and good chips

Just an occasional visitor to Bognor in the summer. I had tried the fish and chip shops oppersite the pier and found them much like the reviews of that others have given to this one - hard overcooked fish etc. I wonder if this one on the pier subsequently changed hands or got a new cook..This place was really good when I went in August. Nice succulent fish and crisp chips. I ate mine on the pier just behind it looking out to sea. Was so pleased to have found a good chippie near te beach. Only trouble is when I went along at the end of the season it was closed.. Maybe only opens in the holiday season. I will go and check it out next time I visit Bognor.

Always happy to give a new business a try. MISTAKE. The staff were rude. The food was stiff, inedible. What an insult to serve this food to any visitors or residents of Bognor. dreadful.

Just opened so thought I would give it a go. What a mistake! Was really horrible. Chips were sitting around and had gone really hard so were very difficult to eat, gave up after a handful. Batter was rock hard and hiding a very thin bit of fish and they couldnt do any mushy peas even though they have them on the menu. Complete letdown, staff not very attentive and they have designed the place really badly so they have to brush past the bin every time they go from the back to the front.
