Fish And Chicken in Colchester

The chips were hot and plentiful , but that's where the good stuff ends, they were very dry and chrunchie ,it was early lunchtime so I can't see why they were like this , but that's not how chips are supposed to be

So the young girl in glasses who works there is the most miserable person I have met. And this is the face to greet customers!! She couldn’t have been more rude. Ignored me for a couple of minutes while she folded cardboard boxes and then huffed at the prospect of getting me some chips. Shall not return as she is like a Dementor and sucked my soul from my body!! I barely escaped with my life!!!!

Such an amazing chip shop with a convenient car park. Tried for the first time and won't be my last.

Bought cod and chips here. Cod freshly cooked and chips hot and plentiful. Service was friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced - will come again

The best fish and chips in town, without a doubt. The lunchtime cod and chips special is fantastic. Great price, perfect amount (not too much) and really excellent tasty fish. We come here regularly it's so good, even though other fish and chip shops are closer

Overpriced and greasy. Burger was in a brioche style bun - we think as it had a sweet taste. Chips were just about cooked with eyes and skin with lots of thin bits - and a bonus hair. Savaloy was just about OK but a bit on the tough side. Fish was greasy and tasteless. Poor value for money. Definitely won't be returning

Our new favourite chippy, we ordered online then picked up, great tasting cod and chips and battered sausage, kids meal was a good portion and my 11 year old ate the lot. Handy to have this side of town.

Over priced for small portions won't use again ordered standard haddock and regular portion of chips definitely not worth the money will try else where next time 😠😠😠

Used to be an OK place a couple of years back but now it's awful:1) Prices have been hiked up considerably 2) Each staff member states a different rule for claiming on the loyalty cards3) Very recently (last few weeks), they've switched from bags to cardboard boxes and so significantly reduced the amount of chips they provide (almost halved portions, despite it still being the same prize). 4) Most staff at "FishnChickn" are very uneducated on what ingredients (allergens) are in the food they are serving (despite the limited menu and especially shocking considering the recent press coverage of the fatal Pret incident)

The portions here are decent, and the prices are good too. We often get the lunchtime special (cod and chips). The chips can be a bit hit & miss, but the fish is above par.

The nicest guys and gals on the staff always willing to have a laugh and always good food and the cans are cold which us important. Keep it up

I know it is just chips but I couldn't even get her to smile after all I was giving her my money and the chips were so dry they didn't even have a taste to them and if she put salt on them I didn't taste it or the vinegar so very disappointed will not recommend this place

Muy pequeña porción de patatas fritas, pieza de tamaño de línea slim DIOS mío cuánto. Cod £7. 30. No NO ME comas, fue una toma de salida. . Escasas raciones, muy caro. Se puede comer en el centro de la ciudad de Colchester para en que en varios lugares. A menudo se pregunta por qué el lugar estaba perdiendo el comercio. Bien estás. Avaricia Y NADA MÁS.

Never had a bad experience here! Quick and easy! Staff friendly. Fish is good and the burgers & nuggets are also nice. Price is OK, not the cheapest but its not overpriced for the quality or amount you get.

Just popped in one afternoon for two standard portions of chips. Which came to £3.90 which is even dearer than town centre prices. The chips were not too good a bit scrappy and the portion was smaller than you get elsewhere.

Un salto como vivimos justo al otro lado de la carretera, ya que normalmente ir a la tienda de chips en el viejo Heath. Ahora deseo que había vuelto a la vieja Heath chippy! ! Patatas fritas donde como balas o simplemente como una bolsa de restos, absolutamente terrible! ! Así que tomé de volver y no preguntaron si me hubiera gustado una orden de reemplazo! ! El viejo hace un bolsa Heath chippy grande de patatas fritas, que es más que suficiente para mi esposa y tres hijos con muchas cosas más! ! Nunca use el pescado y el pollo de nuevo! !

Very nice fish and chips Crispy batter which is always a must. Only negative would be that they don't do crispy bits (scraps)

Brilliant food and service, they are now serving gluten free food, absolutely wonderful, Monday and Tuesday

6 o'clock wed,called in for my favourite./Southern chicken and chips.Young man just said no we don't have any.Did not offer to cook me some,Even though the shop was empty.Won,t be going back.

The worst chips I've ever eaten, they had clearly been cooked a while back and had been sitting, The chips were hard and chewy and inedible and got thrown away, my curry sauce was tiny and well over priced, nothing seemed to be fresh, Won't be going back.

Food was horrible and over priced. Just feel mugged after spending £20 in there :( will make the effort of going down the road to a better place next time

Picked up fish and chips after work for me and mum - medium haddock, large cod, and we shared a large chips.I was a little disappointed that both portions were waiting in the unit, as I'm always willing to wait if it means my food is cooked to order. But I needn't have worried - my cod was excellent: white, flakey and not at all greasy. If I hadn't have picked it up myself, I would have thought it had indeed been cooked to order. Batter was lovely and crisp, with absolutely no trace of being undercooked in certain places, as is often the case with poorer restaurants.Chips were great too - fluffy in the middle with a satisfying texture on the outside. Price was pretty much what you'd expect.This is not the nearest chippy to me, but it's my first choice from now on.

Visited this poor excuse for a fish n chip shop for tea today. 1750, ran out of southern fried chicken, they don't close until 2145! Surely they should have some thing, what are they doing? Think they may need to consider a new cook, one who can make sure that they at least have some food to sell. This is not the first time they have run out of food at silly times, Shrub End it is in future then.

Best chips in colchester, staff are always very friendly and the plaice (lol) is alway busy with the freshest food.

This is a chain and this is the second one I have tried. The first experience I had was at Churchills in Stansted Mountfitchet (same owner as fishnchickn) and they were the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. So hoping for the very same experience I tried this one at The Willows off of Mersea Road. Very promising as I arrived at the shop and the staff are happy and very friendly which is great. The fish was lovely but the chips didn't have the same punch as the ones in Stansted. Don't get me wrong they weren't horrible but they weren't excellent.

Have been there many times on a Friday/Saturday evening and the place is always busy. The takeaway is spotless clean and the staff are extremely friendly. They have won awards for there fish and chips and I definitely recommend going there.
