Fire Station Creative in Fife

We visited on a Sunday morning and were very disappointed. It was freezing inside the building as the fire hadn’t yet been lit. Everyone inside had their coats and jackets on. They did try to get the fire lit, which meant that when the door was opened smoke was let out, leaving a smoky smell. We ordered food and drinks and had a while to wait. Whilst waiting we watched the young lad serving us, put firelighters in the fire and light them. After handling the log burner and fire lighters he then proceeded to pick up our cutlery and set the table. Fill a glass of water for us touching the rim of the class and had not washed his hands. After touching the wood burner, handling firelighters I’d have expected him to wash his hands. He then served our food. The French toast breakfast was very disappointing, the sausage bagel was ok. The decaf tea was good and the coffee fine and a good temperature. Disappointed and won’t return.

Went for brunch! Menu was good and chose breakfast rolls and omelettes between the four of us! Ordered at 11 and drinks took around 20 mins to be served. There were only 2 other tables in at that time and they already had their food/drinks. Food also took a while! Had to wait 20 minutes on soup that was ready in the Bain Marie. Also it was very cold, appreciate the space would be hard to heat but all of our party kept their jackets on.

Taken for treat. What a great breakfast, just hit the spot. Coffee was great also. Defo will be back.

My husband and I were out in Dunfermline and thought we'd try somewhere different for lunch. On checking the menu I noted there was a small vegan menu which meant I could eat here. I ordered the sweet potato salad £8.95. My husband, who isn't vegan, ordered mushroom and chicken stroganoff. When the meals eventually came out the stroganoff looked really bland and the rice watery. He said it tasted ok but was not worth £9.85. My meal was placed in front of me with 2 fried eggs on the plate beside some mushy, sloppy sweet potato. I told the waitress that my meal was incorrect and she said "this is the sweet potato salad". I pointed out there were eggs on the plate and she looked confused. I had to explain that eggs are not vegan (and were also not listed as being part of the meal). She took the plate away and came back a while later with more sweet potato slop that had some cranberries added and some spinach. The amount of food on the plate was pitiful. It was more like a tapas amount. I ate it as I thought it might taste better than it looked. It was bland and completely over cooked slop. The waitress came no where near us again so I had no opportunity to send the food back. When I went to pay the man at the till asked how the food was. He was shocked when I told him it was awful. In fairness to him he removed my meal from the bill and apologised which was appreciated. The chef clearly needs a lesson in what vegan food is and how to cook it properly. He also needs to learn that vegan portions need to be a lot bigger than what is currently being dished up. I won't be retuning here again.

Came here with 6 other friends for some drinks, 47 minutes after arriving we received our drinks. I have never experienced service so slow given that it wasn’t that busy. We were told when we arrived that there was only one member of staff on the bar so it might be a little wait for the drinks but we didn’t realise it would be this long! The drinks were brought out two at a time instead of all together despite ordering them at the same time. We had to wait 15 minutes in between for the drinks to come out. They forgot about one of our drinks that we ordered and instead of being apologetic the waiter was very rude and made out that it was our fault. Very disappointing as it has potential to be a good spot especially with the live music aspect.

Although I had passed this place on numerous occasions, I had never been in. After picking up a family member from the Bus Station, which is close by, we decided to try the converted Fire Station. There is a good selection on the menu on offer and our chosen dishes were excellent. The cakes are more than amazing. I'd recommend here for lunch or cake/coffee, as this is above your average eatery.

Every thing is here is good and tasty. The staff are helpful and the place is clean. There are a variety of desserts and the price is right. The location is central to the city and close to the bus station and the mall.

A lovely venue to meet for coffee if you don't mind waiting fifteen minutes for it. Owner and staff can be abrupt maybe due to stress

I have ate here numerous times over the past two years and always find the food delicious and fresh. The staff are always so friendly and helpful and you are always made to feel most welcome. I always recommend the macaroni cheese, sandwiches & wraps as those are my favourite dishes from here although the whole menu sounds very appealing.

I finally got to visit this year with friends and also with family. Everything I have tried has been nice and filling. The best part is looking at what is new for dessert as the display is always different. Everyone I have been with has enjoyed the food. The wait staff is super kind and helpful. I didn't know we could tip here. I will need to remember to bring cash for tips in the future. I will definitely continue to visit and enjoy meals or just a dessert.

Met an old friend for coffee and cake. What a lovely place. Really great staff, were very attentive and friendly. Greeted immediately with a smile and a "How are you today?" Place was busy with loads of folk having breakfasts. Real range of ages. Bright airy and really cool vibe going on. Art on the walls and a fantastic sculpture. Fresh flowers on the tables. Oh and coffee + scone were delicious too! The sort of place you get in Glasgow or Edinburgh but just on our doorstep and great prices...

Had a really lovely lunch here. Very busy but food came out relatively quickly considering. Food was hot and tasty, service was friendly. Only thing I thought was slightly odd was that the food arrived before hot drinks. Interesting art exhibition for free too.

We popped in here whilst we were in town, never having been before. From the get go though, it wasn’t great. We waited a while to be seated, as there seemed to be only one member of waiting staff. There were plenty of tables free, and the place wasn’t anywhere near busy. Eventually we were seated, and we assumed that it was table service but after a 25 minute wait, we started to think otherwise. My husband decided to approach the counter, where a middle aged man who was working was pretty curt; my husband was told to wait for the server at our table. We only ordered coffee and scones, but after around 30 minutes of waiting we decided enough was enough and we didn’t want to wait any longer, so asked for the food to go. The girl serving us was polite and didn’t see any problem with it but again the man behind the counter seemed to take it badly and seemed to huff when he was told we needed to leave. During our wait for the food to arrive, an elderly gentleman walked in, and was spoken to in an incredibly rude way by, yet again, the man serving. The elderly man only wanted to join his wife at the table she already occupied, but he could hardly get the sentence out because the guy behind the counter kept barking at him “give us a moment” over and over. I felt pretty bad for the older guy, that’s no way to speak to customers. We won’t be back. The place doesn’t have a friendly atmosphere, and apart from the girl serving, the staff seemed rude to say the least. The prices aren’t the cheapest, but that would be over looked if the service was substantially better. At the rate they are now, I’m surprised they’re still operating.

We stopped here for lunch while shopping next door. The building is great looking, and the staff are friendly. But the food took WAY too long to come, about 45mins for a salad and an omelette when the restaurant was pretty quiet. If you're going for a cake and coffee, probably be fine, but expect a long wait if you're ordering off the menu. We won't be back.

went for breakfast sunday. had to wait over an hour and when it arrived the eggs florentine was so bad it had to go back. the full breakfast for what it cost was a disappointment quality wise. had eaten breakfast here before and enjoyed the experience but after today will not be back for food

Recent visit for light lunch and gallery viewing. Had to eventually ask counter staff for service. Coffee arrived first. Further 20 minutes wait for light meal. 50 mins in total - unacceptable. Had same issue a month ago. Restaurant did not appear busy and sufficient staff present. Speedier follow up required once menu cutlery laid out. Nice venue - shame about the service.

We only had an hour to eat, so we ordered drinks right away, and food a few minutes later. Drinks came quickly, great. 50 minutes later, food finally arrived. It wasn't even that busy, hence why we thought an hour would be plenty of time....

Somewhere different for a coffee and cake or even a decent cocktail . There is an outdoor area to the rear which is great if you’re a smoker.

Food arrived cold....sent back...overheard staff discussing negatively. No one apologised...no discount ...although my daughter ate hers and I sat ...very hungry. Gushing service when all going well..not so keen when not. Wont be in a hurry to go back.

Popped into the Fire Station Creative today for a coffee & cake, sat down and waited 10 minutes for service but nobody appeared. I then walked up to the counter asked the guy there for coffee & cake, pointed out our table and sat down....

Nice interior and the place has potential. However find it very strange that certain foods are only available on weekends, for example, salad, and the menu isn’t very big in itself. I have had the cream cheese bagel a few times and found it quite plain. Coffee is nice enough.

Feel like this place is having an identity crisis. it doesn't really feel very welcoming and the cocktails take ages to be made so is very slow if in as part of a large group. that said, the cocktails are pretty good! especially the strawberry...

We visited today for some breakfast and coffee and we weren't disappointed, my hubby had the full Scottish breakfast and I had American pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and both were delicious! It was nice and quiet and relaxing and had the fire lit which was a nice touch for a cold Sunday morning. I do feel the pancakes could possibly have been a slightly bigger portion (maybe add another pancake and 2 slices of bacon) but other than that it was a lovely breakfastand will be back again!

Family catch up for coffee and scones. On arrival I was pleasantly impressed with the decor and layout of the Old Fire Station. The service and staff was very good. Very good prices compared with other cafe type places in Dunfermline. I would recommend this cafe for quality, price and service.

Been in FSC on numerous occasions, food always good. Friendly attentive staff. Live music at the weekend gives an alternative option for a night out. Ive also been to many exhibitions which are always interesting. Much needed venue for the town

Two former work colleagues and l had lunch here today. Sweet potato and rosemary soup, lovely homemade bread. We then had tea and scones. Every thing was delicious, the soup was just the correct temperature to eat, just perfect.

Stopped in for coffee and cake after going round the exhibition. The man behind the counter was very patient with the staff he was training, and gave them clear instructions and help. Was nice to see. Also very friendly in saying goodbye as people were leaving.

Great location in town, nice interior with artistic displays and a log fire going for winter with some comfy chairs to relax in with your coffee and newspaper. Service was okay but again the food was a disappointment. Ordered the breakfast roll with sausage and onions...totally average if not poor. Sausage (links) was like rubber and onions were tasteless. Coffee was lukewarm. It's a great pity about this as it's got great potential but maybe under better management and kitchen staff? Must stop going there.

I've been here twice with friends and family recently.

I have visited this place a few times and enjoyed breakfast with friends and their coffee and cake. However I had heard some feedback that it has gone down hill, but wanted to see for myself so I popped in with my wife for a couple of flat whites and look around at the same time.

Brunch visit on a Sunday morning, quite a few tables in so were pleased we had reserved one to be on safe side. Bright, airy venue but can be a little chilly on an October morning before it has heated up. Chose the American Pancakes with Bacon and Maple Syrup along with an Americano. Wife had Eggs Royale. Others in the party chose an Omelette, the Full English and another pancakes.

I visited here last Sunday with friends for lunch.

Last time we’d been, service wasn’t very good, so we’d stopped going. Service was very good today. Quick, attentive and friendly. The mushroom soup today was delicious. Hot, fresh and very tasty. Sandwich was nice too. Will definitely be back.

What is happening here? Invited a friend and was totally embarrassed by the scones which were served -- certainly not fresh. I returned mine since it was uncooked dough in the middle. Replacement given but again not fresh. A cold and uninviting place - no fire lit on a very cold morning. To cap it all no discount offered for food provided. I will not be back. Plenty other better coffee shops in the town.

This used to be one of our favourite breakfast places however, service and food quality has gone downhill. It’s a shame as it used to be top notch and now it’s mediocre. Unsure if there’s been a change in leadership or chef but something’s amiss.

My friend and I dropped in for coffee and cake. It was my first visit and it looked lovely. The service was quick but sadly the scone was very hard so didn't seem fresh at all.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat after visit to town centre. Looking for a tasty option to share and decided to have the mixed sharing platter and a glass of wine. Venue is relaxing and well laid out with a changing display of local artwork on the walls. Service is friendly and efficient.

Just popped in for a coffee and cake waited 10 min before cake arrived and then another 10 mins for coffee cake was good but then they buy them from a outside supplier I asked for mocha it was awful very strong and the prices where ridiculous

After a number of lovely lunches and brunches here, something changed the last time and the menu had been altered with produce cheap.

We arrived at 7:30 tonight Saturday because the kitchen closes at 8:00 and we wanted to eat before the music started. There’s a selection of sharing platters and we chose meat and cheese and thoroughly enjoyed the selection. However we thought he music was meant to start at 8:00 (as advertised )as we’ve experienced previously. However by 8:40 it still hadn’t started and when we asked at the bar why, we were told it was from 9-11. So why does the website and Instagram say 8-10? Had to leave at 9 without hearing any music. What a let down!!!! Photo shows people waiting for music to start at 8:57 and nothing when we left at 9:03. A waste of time and money.

Something has clearly changed here.Visited previously and food was excellent, and always fresh. A group of five of us visited for Saturday lunch. We were advised there was a forty minute wait from the kitchen as backed up.When the food arrived, as with previous comments, the quality of paninis and bread was awful. The salad was tired and dry .We sat for a long time before any clearing was done and had to go in search of someone to order coffee. A real shame as they were building up[ a good reputation. Sadly now off our list.

Nice place, good use of an iconic art deck building. Good food and coffee. Easy to spend a lazy and enjoyable hour there!

Disappointed on last trip here for lunch. Had been several times before and looked forward to the BLT bagel which had always been great. The menu has changed and this was no longer available and more simple dishes in its place, which my partner and I felt we could have easily made at home anyway. We waited a while to place our order but it seemed staff were not aware we were waiting despite us attempting to catch their eye several times. Eventually I went up to front desk to place our order. We asked for soup and sandwiches and wanted them at the same time, however never received our soup despite a long wait. Our dishes weren't collected for a long time either and we were waiting to place an order for some coffee and cake. When we eventually got the staffs attention we explained we did not receive the soup but we're going to just have cake instead, but wanted to make them aware. The staff member apologised, and another member of staff came over to apologise and told us it was probably for the best as the soup was horrible on this particular day. Staff appeared harassed and no real organisation. Preferred older menu and there was not as much of a selection of cakes on this visit either. I now feel I no rush to return where as this was a cafe I previously would have recommended..

Two of us visited the Fire Station for lunch. The menu was varied with plenty of choice and the staff pleasant and attentive.. This is one of the better eating places in Dunfermline.

I can only assume this venue has changed management. It used to be incredible, the food lovely and although service was a tad slow at times it just added to the experience and created a laid back experience.

I visited the Fire Station today for lunch with a friend and was very disappointed with the menu and quality of dishes. The menu used to be fantastic and the dishes delicious however it was such a let down today. The sandwich that I ordered was very expensive for what it was and I was shocked at the low quality of produce. I’m not sure how a ham, cheese and chutney sandwich could go so wrongly but the bread could only be described as similar to a cheap, Tesco value style loaf and the cheese was like plastic/rubber. The 4 crisps on the plate were an embarrassment and the “side salad” was limp and inedible. This used to be my venue of choice and I’m sad to say I won’t be returning again. It’s a real shame for Dunfermline that this amazing place has now gone very downhill.

Enjoyable and brights eating area within Gallery setting. Arrow choice of menu selection but good size servings. Always enjoy meeting friends there either for coffee and cake or light lunch. Can also enjoy a glass of wine.

Always my first choice of cafe to meet up with friends as a great cake selection in a lovely building with cosy fire on cold days. Coffee recently has been a bit hit or miss though. Last time we went our coffee was so strong, we couldn’t finish it. Generally a good place to come though.

The Old Fire Station has been reopened as an art gallery/studio and restaurant and has recently updated its facilities. Gone are the echos which used to reverberate around - especially when young people were around. Sound baffles in the ceiling have made it a much more intimate experience. The menu offers a range of popular, local offerings and sits easily between breakfast and lunch. The cakes are excellent too and the staff friendly and helpful. There is a constant turnover of artwork produced on site and set up around the walls. On these cold days, sit near the wood burning stove to compete your experience of good, cosy refreshment

We have lunched here quite often and always enjoyed but hadn’t been for a few months. Visited 2day for lunch and what a shame, very disappointing! Menu has changed with not a lot of choice!! Service was very haphazard and we had to continually ask for service and waited a long time for simple food which should take mins to make!! Wont be hurrying back.

Service unbelievably disorganised and slow. Menu restricted and little choice. Poor quality ingredients and menu changed since last visit with bad results. Muffin for eggs Benedict not toasted and panini something I could have bought at Tesco and salad nothing special. Very little choice of cakes. Previous experiences there have been 5* but I was very disappointed today with the food. There seems to be some cost cutting going on as it was also more expensive than last visit. This is a shame as it is such a fab place and was one of the better places for a lovely lunch in Dunfermline.

I visited the Fire Station Creative on a Saturday evening with some of my family. There was live music which was very enjoyable. It was quite busy and had a buzzing atmosphere. We ordered some festive cocktails which were fantastic, then had a seafood platter and a meat platter to share. The quality of the produce on the platters was very high, the food was delicious; I particularly enjoyed the mackerel pâté.

Sat waiting for 10 minutes before 2 tables left at the same time, I asked one lady if she had been waiting long, she said 25 minutes. I went to the counter where I asked someone who I thought was the owner how long I would be waiting as 2 tables had left, each one waiting 25 minutes, she replied f*****g b*****ks. She shouted at me to take a seat and someone would come and take my order, we decided to leave. I work hard for my money and am not prepared to give it to people who have no manners and swear infront of young children. Avoid Avoid Avoid. This place makes Faulty Towers look like the Versace Hotel.

This was such a disappointing visit. It took ages to get served, then another long time before it was delivered to the table. The tea was disappointingly lukewarm and I should have said at the time but other friends joined us and I just put up with it.

Popped in here on a Sunday for something to eat and were very impressed. Both our meals were excellent and the haggis benedict was excellent and a pretty big portion. Looks like there was lots of nice stuff on the menu for dinners so will definitely be back, same for coffee and cakes etc. Really nice what they've done with the place and the staff were friendly too.

Sorry in advance......I had high expectations as the cafe came highly recommended to me. I visited today with some friends. The setting is very nice and cosy despite the size and space. The staff were friendly enough and the place was busy. We ordered drinks and food. The drinks arrived after 10 minutes....15 minutes later....3/5 plates of food arrived....5 minutes later 2/5 plates of food arrived. Sad to say the food was not great. ‘American Pancakes’....one giant solid/rubber pancake with what I assume are defrosted frozen berries. ‘Bruschetta’....glorified cheese on toast. ‘BLT’....lovely vibrant plate of food and thankfully, enjoyed. ‘Stew’....enjoyed but in desperate need of some green! A very mixed batch of food.

Waited 15 minutes to be served and finally only served because I beckoned someone over! Ordered a flat white which I could not even drink - it was practically black and extremely strong and bitter. Waitress questioned my complaint - very unprofessional. My replacement Americano was not much better but with a jug of hot water and a lot of cold milk it was just about palatable! Will not be going back!

Fab nite with shared platter, friends and good entertainment from cognac twins. Friendly staff who were very accomodating.

Pleasant atmosphere, comfortable seats, lovely scones and coffee though slightly pricey. Enjoyed viewing exhibition.

Popped in for a drink. Busy enough but a wee bit muted. They had some live music on. Decent acoustic blues player with a blues harp accompaniment. Pretty good and not too intrusive.

A really interesting venue, in my opinion the cakes are the best in Dunfermline. I also enjoy viewing the artists displays. A lovely place to meet and chat to friends. Also the staff are friendly and helpful. A good place for families to relax and enjoy. There is also evening entertainment on the weekend.

Extremely nice place to sit and relax, a little different from the norm but the food was awesome. Great staff who really were nice to speak to and assisted when and where needed without any hesitation.

A refurbished fire station, a retro designed Cafe coffee shop. Very interesting desserts, good sandwich choices,good service. Cole slaw was very creamy, nice simple salad, nice grilled cheese with tomato topping.

Había comido aquí antes y realmente disfrutamos de la fuente compartida. Fuimos allí recientemente y la misma fuente compartir había subido de precio y sólo tenían unos dos tercios de los artículos que tenía anteriormente. Aceitunas, pimientos relleno no, verdes o tomates secados al sol y menos pan. Si eso es la nueva fuente de compartir, no es relación calidad-precio y no volveré. Es una pena, porque de lo contrario es un lugar encantador.

Lovely surroundings, friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks but the live group took forever tuning up and we had to leave before they started. We didn't eat but saw other tables having food and it looked amazing.

Disfrutamos de un elemento de desayuno para el almuerzo. Personal joven, amable. Pero debería haber sido informado que cerca en horarios específicos.

Reservar una mesa y fuimos para un brunch de fin de semana en la estación de bomberos creativo. El menú es amplio y muy interesante, incluyendo sándwiches, huevos, sopas y tartas recién horneados, bollos, etc. . Pedimos huevos benedictinos, panqueques americanos con bacón grasiento, croquetas de patata con huevos y el plato de niños con sandwich de jamón. Excelente servicio y deliciosas tartas y bollos. Muy recomendable para desayuno almuerzo en Dunfermline. La cafetería está situada en una galería de arte y la sirve vino, cerveza y cócteles. Reservar una mesa si tienes un grupo grande ya que muy concurrido, especialmente durante el fin de semana servicio de brunch.

Yo estaba muy impresionado por el fuego de la estación creativa. En primer lugar, el edificio en sí conserva muchas de las características de la estación de bomberos y de la cantidad de luz que entra hizo un almuerzo es un sitio muy agradable. La comida era excelente y sin duda lo recomiendo el risotto de espárragos y guisantes que sabían deliciosamente fresco. Por último, recibimos un buen servicio desde el principio hasta el final de nuestra visita a pesar de estar lleno y en la lenta de almuerzo. Una gran adición a Dunfermline y totalmente recomendado.

Un almuerzo muy agradable, la comida era excelente, con un entorno agradable. Éramos cinco adultos y un bebé de un año, un variado menú con comida deliciosa. Deliciosa sopa y bruschetta y houmus muy sabroso, adultos y bebés aclaró los platos. Sillas para bebés que se limpiaban con un desinfectante, limpie antes de usar disponible bien hecho, esperamos volver de nuevo cuando esté en la zona.

Vine aquí por primera vez con amigos y me quedé agradablemente sorprendido por su amplio menú. Desayuno comida abarca desde sándwiches hasta e incluso algunas ligeras. Fui por los huevos que eran increíbles, Royale mientras mis amigos optaron por el panqueque (pancake de tamaño muy generoso) y un bocadillo que ambos dijeron también estaban muy sabrosos. Luego tuvimos la frambuesa y rebanadas de torta de semillas de amapola, también muy bueno.

Luminoso y limpio, moderno, con cuadros, pequeño interior -- deben perder un montón de negocios. Comidas un poco impredecible pensé - - - - - - algunos algunos no es así. Debe ser un buen lugar de reunión para la merienda, etc. Personal de camarera simpática. Sin llamar, pero otros locales en la zona quizás preferible.

I met a friend for lunch in here one day. Nice, open space but also cosy with a log fire. Very friendly staff and have recently updated the menu so there is now a selection of vegetarian dishes available. Also great cake and reasonable prices

Visitamos unas cuantas veces para comer con amigos y siempre muy concurrido a la hora del almuerzo, así que no decepcionará si tienes que esperar por una mesa. El personal siempre es amable y atento y las opciones para comer son muy buenas y la comida que se sirve con rapidez y bien presentada. Aún no hemos probado la deliciosa buscando casa para hornear. Somos clientes habituales y lo recomiendo altamente.

Metimos en un café, mucho para elegir desde el menú, pasteles caseros, parecía no podía decidir, pero yo opté por banana y mantequilla de maní pastel, que era delicioso. El café estaba recién hecho con buen gusto, mi hija tiene un chocolate caliente con crema y malvaviscos, delicioso! El personal era cortés y servicial, los precios son razonables. Sin duda volveremos.

Slow service, service was just ok. Seemed short staffed. Lovely place and looks really good, but waited far too long on our coffee. Will definitely go back for another visit :)

Drop in frequently for a coffee and sometimes lunch. I love the smoked salmon bagel. Service can be a bit slow, but love the vibe.
