Had to ask after waiting a while if we were to seat ourselves or wait. Got a table. Waited far too long for the order to be taken by a rude and bored member of staff. After waiting nearly half an hour for a burger and soup, without even drinks on our table when asked how much longer it will be, to be told the ticket did not print out so we would have to wait even longer. The establishment is lovely and the views incredible. Not any good though if the service is diabolical.

Ate here a few months ago on a Saturday night and was very impressed with the food and service. Unfortunately it seems to have gone progressively downhill on each visit (3 in total) since then. Today’s was particularly disappointing. The place badly needs a deep clean-the floor and surfaces were covered in crumbs and there were 3 dying wasps on the window ledge. The glasses had dirty marks and my plate had a white hair on it. Food was generally mediocre and the tomato soup wasn’t edible. Staff inattentive too and seem very young. Sadly won’t be returning.

Visited yesterday with two young children. Had coffee and ice cream and planned to sit outside. Unfortunately there were swarms of wasps, which made this impossible. We asked to sit inside until the children finished their ice cream and we were met with rude staff. Although a few wasps are expected when sitting outside, there are hundreds of them all around the bins and sheltered seating area. Overall an unpleasant experience and worth holding on until you get to the ritz for ice cream and coffee!

Stopped in for eats after doing what everyone does and cycled round the island. The weather was nice so outdoor area was busy. The hand written menu proclaimed a variety of light meals and soup etc.We opted for soups and toasties. After waiting an eternity the young waitress started to drip feed us the food. My wife initially commented that the lentil soup was ‘off’, as did the others as it came. The consistency was akin to porridge & grout, horrendous!! The Brie toastie smelled horrid and butter was not the best. I had Scotch Pie beans and chips: safe bet?? No, the pie could have sunk a fishing boat as it was days old and very hard. If you can’t get beans and chips right I’d pull the shutters down now! They were passable.I guess the amount of holiday weekend visitors surprised the owners but that ranks as some of the worst food ever purchased. £40 for the privilege.

If this place hopes to stay open longer than this season they are going to have to seriously rethink their concept. Waited in a queue yesterday for 30 mins to order at the counter before leaving as there was one clueless man serving at the counter and took 5-10 minutes per person - we were 20th in the queue so didn’t have a hope of being served. Hapless children wander around bringing food to tables with no service, clearly no training and look lost. Bizarre where there is a table that sits about 20 - I suppose its mean to be for communal dining but no one using it. Have someone on the ice cream counter / and table service inside as this concept you have is nothing short of a disaster

Great experience all the way! This perfect spot has amazing views...but what makes this restaurant lovely is the food and the service. This was my first time here — but it will certainly not be my last. 👏🏼😁Well done!

The cafe had just recently re-opened for the season. Excellent choice of soups, friendly, helpful staff and binoculars on hand to make the most of the fabulous sea views

A new name, a complete internal facelift, enthusiastic new management, and the early signs are that after years of aimless drifting, Fintry Bay - sorry "The High Tide Cafe at Fintry Bay" is right back on course. We went in for lunch on a gloriously sunny Sunday afternoon, Day 2 since reopening and enjoyed a good range of selections from a menu that is hearty British seaside and Scottish sweet tooth focused, accompanied by perfectly prepared cappucinos, lattes, etc. The space where the former outside facing snack kiosk has now been opened out to transform the interior with a huge, cosy stove, but ice cream fans needn't worry, the large frozen/take-away counter inside looked well-stocked and worthy of exploration over the summer. An added bonus is the thoughtful provision of numerous pairs of binoculars to make the most of those wonderful panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde - very thoughtful too of NATO to lay on a naval display for those of us there on Sunday :) It's little wonder we were back for more with a family visitor today - the soups are highly recommended!

If heading round island clockwise this is 3 miles from Millport. Nicely set out picnic area & decent choice snacks, drinks & ice creams. Also has great views.

Stopped for the obligatory ice cream (cone or Cornetto) on the pretty west coast. Seats by the shop or down by the shore with views to Bute & Arran. Public toilets at the shore - one of the few still open since the Council closed most of them. Dozens of hired bicycles. A nice buzz.

Stopped at the kiosk for coffee and eats having got off the ferry, gem of a place with plenty of outdoor seating and in a great location, indoors was being done up when we visited. Bacon rolls had all round, nice morning rolls with lots of bacon, cooked to order, even asked if we wanted crispy bacon or not crispy bacon.
