Fino Tapas in Preston

This is a lovely place which is very welcoming. There is a dinning area and a roof top area which we picked. There is spanish music playing and the food is excellent. The staff are friendly and very attentive. This is the best tapas yet.

What a great lunch we had. We have not been to finos since they moved but now I wish we had gone sooner. I would honestly say it’s probably better than the last time we went when they were just off fishergate and maybe even the best ever. Our waitress was brilliant (sadly we didn’t get her name) very engaging and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic, along with the drinks the only slight downside was the steak we had was very fatty but that’s down to the butcher, the meat we had was tasty and very well seasoned. We can’t wait to go back thanks for a lovely afternoon

After hearing many good things about this place, we finally visited whilst on a night out with friends. Lively little restaurant, very smart with a good atmosphere. The food was outstanding. Even though it’s tapas the portions are large so we had 2 each which was plenty. Everything was delicious. Service throughout was friendly and efficient and the bill at the end was very reasonable for top quality food and service. Why it took so long for us to visit I don’t know but one thing is for sure, we’ll be back again very soon.

Visited here with my friends for lunch at university and sat on the rooftop terrace on a sunny spring's day. Had the meatballs in bravas sauce, chicken in garlic cream sauce and mushroom with peppercorn sauce. Every dish was delicious, well presented and perfectly cooked. Waiting on staff were very pleasant as well. Can't really think of any better meals I've had in the area. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Outstanding! Clearly the chef here cares about the quality of the food being served here! I ordered a LOT of things (I mean it's tapas right?) I honestly cannot pick a standout dish, however, there was a surprise that I caught with the Monkfish, which was freeze dried raspberries, what a delight! Adding that touch of tartness to the dish as well as texture. The butternut squash was silky smooth and full of buttery goodness. I have eaten in a lot of places, however, I mainly come away slight disappointed, when a chef can't seem to get the seasoning right. NOT at Fino! The chef spiced and seasoned everything perfectly. I am sat here full and utterly delighted 10 out of 10

The food is excellent and great value for money. But what really made the night for us was the service. We felt really welcome and will come back when we're next in Preston.

Great venue just a shame it was so busy which delayed the food order. It is obviously a success of its quality. We left after the delay with the starters due to it being so popular.

Went here with as a group of 4. We were lucky to sit upstairs which has a glass roof so lively and bright. We shared tapas - chose 3 each which was more than enough. All delicious! The service was exceptional- the waiter was really friendly and great service. Sorry I didn’t see his name ! Really good night!

We always used to go here in a previous tapas incarnation where the food was excellent and exciting. As it is now Fino Tapas, we thought that we’d give it a go. The waitress was very pleasant, helped with our choices and was attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to our expectations. One of my dishes had the heat but lacked the flavour. A lot of the food was quite bland although not all of it. It is quite expensive but, for the quality of the food we ate, was overpriced. Such a shame and I’m not thinking of returning.

SO nice. Loved it here. Quaint, and the lighting and music is just right, creating a lovely ambience. Really nice decor. The food was devine, and some really good vegan and veggie options. Service was excellent, fast and friendly.

I normally expect Tapas to be quite heavy. In this case I was pleasantly surprised. The choice of tapas was extensive and imaginative. I was delighted with all the dishes I sampled. They arrived promptly and the hot dishes were hot. Good service. A good all-round experience. Highly recommended

Top quality food. Really enjoyed our tapas. Nice setting above the Plau pub. All of the dishes are freshly prepared and super tasty. There is plenty of choice on the menu for all. Great service - although the waitress was a little too keen to clear away plates when we were still eating from.them!

I've visited Fino Tapas restaurant a number of times in various locations, but this was my first visit to Friargate. What a lovely location, I was expecting to enjoy the food, as it's always been good quality, but the restaurant itself is beautiful and has a fantastic atmosphere. There was some delay on the food being served due to a large party being in the restaurant, but the waiting staff kept us updated, which was fine and didn't create a problem. This is definitely going to become a favourite restaurant in Preston.

Lovely food and drinks, we really enjoyed the croquettes and the calamari. it got quite cramped when a large Christmas party arrived and it did take a while for us to get dessert menus and the bill when we asked for those.

I rarely leave unsatisfactory reviews, particularly for independents, but sadly, this was an underwhelming and disappointing experience. The food was enjoyable (particularly the cheese board, goat cheese salad and croquettes), but we all felt a tad overpriced for the portion sizes/tapas (which I am sure are a lot smaller than those at the previous restaurant location). Service was poor, unfortunately. We did not receive any response to email enquiries (the email address on the reservation confirmation emails is incorrectly listed as Plau, so the emails didn't reach Finos upstairs), very slow service considering that it was nearly empty, and we had delays with the food coming out, forgotten dishes (we had all finished when three tapas came out which had clearly been missed), and clearing the table. One of our party asked if an item was gluten-free and received a rather lacklustre 'don't know' before 'I can ask the chef' as an afterthought. The atmospheric fairy lights and coffee machine were switched off early and before we’d finished our tapas, and we could not order coffee at the end (this was around 8.30pm/8.45pm), which was disappointing. We also didn’t feel we had time to order a dessert for the birthday girl as the serving team evidently wanted to go home. The overall feeling was that the place was closing, and we needed to leave as soon as possible; we had left by 9 pm. Party of nine (three of whom had travelled up from London) who spent a not insignificant amount at the start of the festive season (and would have spent more if the coffee machine had been switched on!). Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend it. I hope it was a one-off, as it is a beautiful venue and a lovely concept. I did feedback privately to the restaurant to give them an opportunity to respond but as yet, have not received a response.

I’m very rarely leave 1 star reviews but this place deserves it! I have never been to Fino Tapas and was looking forward to trying it now it’s relocated to Plau. As we arrived there was no one to seat us not even an acknowledgment. We eventually caught a member of staff’s attention who told us our table was booked in the bar area. This member of staff was just extremely rude and had a real attitude problem throughout. His condescending attitude was at times embarrassing and it was my Sisters birthday and had been her choice so I really felt bad for her. The food arrived and it was ok. Some dishes luke warm but on the whole edible. Trying to get drinks was pretty impossible so it seemed easier to nip to the bar downstairs. What a mistake that was, the bar tender was even more rude than the staff member upstairs! The restaurant was understaffed that evening. 2 waiting on staff and 2 large parties seated and eating at once as well as a scattering of smaller groups. The icing on the cake was the 8% service charge! What a complete joke! What service? No wonder they add it as there is no way you’d willingly pay for that level of awful service. Preston is full of lovely eateries but this isn’t one of them. Definitely will not be returning,

Fino has moved back to a smaller venue and this has had such a positive impact on the quality of food and atmosphere. We had a drink in Plau, downstairs from Fino’s first. The barman was happy to make any cocktail I wanted and there was a fantastic choice of beer. On entering the restaurant, we were given a choice of seating. We chose to sit in the smaller downstairs part which was more cozy. The food choice was great and varied. Each dish was really tasty and well presented. They were also a really good portion size. The service was excellent throughout the meal. It was excellent value for money too!

Dreadful customer service, we booked this 4 weeks ago asking if they were still doing 3 x tapas for £12.33, the man on the phone said yes up until 4pm so we booked a table. Today we arrived at 2pm (booked), to be told that we no longer do the lunch deal, it’s a la carte, despite them saying they still did the offer, as I explained to a young boy who was very rude and really wasn’t interested he said we no longer do the deal on a Saturday. Manager came and still wouldn’t Agree they had changed the menu. We went downstairs to have a drink, but ended up listening to bar staff slagging us off to two female customers, saying bye Karen! They then had the audacity to say have a good day. Absolutely disgusted with the staff, tbh they clearly had no customer service skills and basically couldn’t be bothered, not interested and certainly wasn’t willing to resolve the issue.

Definitely a place to avoid. The staff are rude and it’s extremely overpriced for what it is. We’d heard it’d gone down hill since all the management changes recently but decided to give it a go anyway. Unfortunately we will not return or recommend.

The three tapas for 12.00 something seemed like a good deal, and we enjoyed the dishes that we had especially the mushroom croquettes and the Padron peppers. The red pepper and feta dip was a bit generic and pita bread isn't really Spanish so didn't fit in with the tapas vibe- would have preferred some sourdough or Spanish bread with the dip and a lot of tapas places offer complimentary bread and oil so if I was paying evening prices I wouldn't have been as impressed. Lunchtime churros were shared as a dessert and were not overly sweet. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would return for lunch if back in Preston.

Don't waste your time!!! We booked for a family birthday meal and it was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. You'd get better service at a fast food chain. It was shocking. We arrived despite booking a table to have to be seated in a "waiting area" for 45 minutes, we had to request someone to serve us several times, our drinks never made it so when we finally got seated at the table they all arrived. Having to wait for so long already we were ready to order. We ordered our meals promptly, however we never actually received them! Every other table that came in after us was served before us, so by this point an hour has gone past and we've highlighted to the team we haven't had our meals. They then brought out one plate of meatballs which were cold. I then decided to complain and explain that it's shocking how long we've waited and not received our meal, to then find they needed us to re-order them. By this point it's been over 2 hours so we did not order any food and refused to pay for our drinks. The manager came over and offered us a £15 voucher which was a pathetic attempt if I'm honest. There was 6 of us, therefore that would not cover a meal for 6. It was a special occasion ruined. The staff where as helpful as a chocolate teapot!! Id never return to this place even if I was paid to. There are better places in town for sure so I'd never recommend anyone go to this place until they learn basic service.

It pains me to say this really as my wife and I have been Fino about 15 times over the past couple of years. It was our favourite spot for a nice meal then continue on to Niko. Vibe was always good and so was the service. At the new location it feels like the atmosphere falls flat. The multi floor setup doesn’t work. We were in a semi large group and it sometimes felt we were intruding someone’s living room and disturbing the other diners. No one said anything but you were conscious of it. The ground floor cocktail bar didn’t have stock of anything and it feels more like a pub than a cocktail bar. It threw the vibe a little bit from the start. Service was sometimes a little lacking to the table so we had to do 3 flights of stairs to grab a beer. This only happened a couple of times and no shade to the staff as they were obviously busy. Just needs addressing at a management level. The food was really good, as per the Fino standard. The staff were good. I just don’t think it works where it is now and it’s lost its charm.

My wife and I popped in for lunch, excellent service, excellent Tapas, food freshly made and tasty will visit again.

We hadn’t booked to eat here but they made room for a party of 8 of us by juggling seating Drinks were limited in choice but had an ample wine list. Drinks took a while to arrive but overall during our visit it was acceptable. Now the ordering of our food was ok and so long as you could remember what you’d ordered you eventually got it. As you can imagine mixed dishes for 8 was a bit hit and miss but when the dishes arrived they were fair sized portions and hot. No complaints at all. Staff cleared tables at intervals making room and head floor manager sorted us out fantastically.

Beware, this place tried to charge us 20% VAT on top of our food and drinks, as well as a service charge of 8%. We didn’t mind paying the service charge but not the VAT charge. The service by Steven was terrible as he argued that we had to pay the £65 (for 2 people). In the end we paid the 47.99 which normally would be the correct amount. Food was great but would never return. No wonder it was empty with service like that.

I came here with a large group, we had a set menu , tapas. I was a bit disappointed at first when the staff were getting all the drinks orders wrong , and ours didn’t even arrive , we had to ask a few times if we could have our sangria, when it came it was not very nice. The food finally came, some of it was ok, I was eating a piece of charcuterie meat and I was chewing it for 7 minutes before I had to spit in into a napkin , poor quality.
