I was so disappointed in this place! After being there for a meal with my friends and place being absolutely roasting and us complaining about it several times however we decided to return for drinks in their “wine bar” however situation was changed because of the baby at home so we couldn’t make it, I gave them a call 3h prior our arrival to say we can’t make it, to which very rudely I was told that they will charge me 10£ per person!!! Not per table, but per person!!! I didn’t even manage to hang up before my card was already charged 40£ I am absolutely shocked about the attitude and the price they charge. I would never return even if living in the area and have passed this around my friends to not return either. Very disappointed!

Después de estar allí para una comida con mis amigos y el lugar siendo absolutamente asado y quejándonos de ello varias veces sin embargo decidimos volver por bebidas en su “bar de vinos” sin embargo la situación cambió debido al bebé en casa por lo que no pudimos hacerlo, les di una llamada 3 h antes de nuestra llegada para decir que no podemos hacerlo, a lo que muy groseramente me dijeron que me cobrarán 10 £ por persona! ¡No por mesa, sino por persona! Ni siquiera logré colgar antes de que ya me cobraran 40 £ de mi tarjeta Estoy absolutamente sorprendido por la actitud y el precio que cobran. Nunca volvería aunque viviera en la zona y he pasado esto alrededor de mis amigos para no volver tampoco. ¡Muy decepcionado!

We visited for my wife's birthday and it was a terrific experience. The food was exceptional and the service was wonderful. I would recommend the set menu as it was all delicious!

We were at the Fin and Grape on 29/11 for a birthday meal, it was absolutely delicious, and all the staff were all wonderful - so friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Just really amazing food & tasty wines! Would love to come back soon.

¡Qué joya! Un grupo de viejos amigos se reunieron y escogieron aquí como todos habíamos visto y nunca hemos estado. Vaya lugar. Teníamos el menú con cuatro platos compartidos antes de conseguir un pez monje entero. Los cuatro platos compartidos fueron una verdadera alegría. Primero fue un poco de masa madre y mousse de bacalao con aceite de hierbas. El pan era justo y la mousse la textura y el sabor correctos para acompañar la tostada. El siguiente fue Miso manzana encurtida y trucha de mar. Plato inteligente con muchos sabores - manzana, rábano, Trucha, jengibre. Una calabaza con brócoli, ricota y salami fue una maravilla, pero la estrella para mí fueron los puerros, eglefino, parmesano y vadouvan. Estaba delicioso. La crema parmesana era celestial y la especia ligera del vadouvan la hizo estallar. Por último, un poco de monje, patatas fritas, apio y ensalada. Sencillo, cocinado bien y sin broncas. Sé que esto suena extraño, pero algunas de las mejores fichas que he tenido en mucho tiempo! ¡Vete!

The most incredible food full of flavour. I came here for my graduation, which the staff were nice enough to give me a card to congratulate me! The food is so fresh and incredible quality. The waitress was so lovely and explained the menu and dishes for us. Would recommend coming here if you want something very special.

Really expensive food for very little. Wine over priced and really not worth it won’t be back

De hecho, superó nuestras expectativas. Hemos comido muy bien aquí en esta capital de los amantes de la comida, pero esto encabezó la lista. Sabores frescos, profundos, texturas emocionantes, satisfactorias pero ligeras, cada plato es una alegría absoluta. Seleccionamos el menú degustación, cada plato fue sublime en cuanto al pescado monje~ el mejor que hemos probado. Todos servidos de la manera más sin pretensiones. ¡Vamos, prueba esta joyita, te garantizo que te encantará!

El restaurante tiene un buen ambiente y el servicio era excelente - como antes de los aperitivos y la selección de vinos. Optamos por el menú compartido con los peces del día, que resultó un verdadero éxito con todos nosotros. Tenga en cuenta que hay bastante comida como parte de la oferta y aunque hicimos todo lo posible dejamos algunos.

Cozy, welcoming, and best lobster I have ever had!

Spectacular food with dishes that are so complex in flavor! Absolutely blown away by every dish.

We ate here for lunch and it was absolutely divine! Truly the best scallop and lobster I’ve ever eaten. The provenance of the ingredients is sublime. I can’t wait to return and try other dishes. The service was efficient and super friendly; we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Intrigados por el menú que aparece en la puerta decidimos probar Fin& Grape. Platos muy bien ejecutados y de alta calidad de ingredientes. Los sabores son notables. Teníamos los platos compartidos que estaban bien ejecutados. Yo no los llamaría compartir platos, ya que la porción apenas es suficiente para uno. Sin embargo los sabores son memorables.

My favourite restaurant, delicious

Ate here 08 August. Booking system is too hard work for customers left feeling like “a mark” for data collection. Food combinations and flavors very much to our liking. We ate fish. On the downside plates were sometimes absurdly small and prices high. When the menu reads scallop (£9 ea) we expect a whole scallop. Wine selection was disappointing old world with prices quite out of range for everyday drinking. Service OK. Was it good enough to go back again and again? - mmm - not sure.

Visited today for lunch, wished I had gone for the set menu, my friend had the set menu, I wished there had been a couple of choices on it. The small plates were quite nice, but maybe I chose wrong. The anchovies were basically a plate of anchovies, and the foaccia bread was lovely. The service was strange. The gentleman thought I was going to have two portions of foccacia bread, which seemed to be a running comment during the lunch, however atlesst he appeared friendly. All of the team could realise it is OK to pour the wine, not to check at the very end of the meal with a laugh and a nod that you have been consuming it. When checking to see if you had any left at the end of the meal, it was all very odd. The table is only allotted for 1 hour and 30 mins, so I felt a little rushed with food choices and wine choices. However, we need not have worried as we were not rushed off the table. Finally the rest of the team can relise it's OK to smile, with lots of other lovely restaurants out there it was nice just not sure I would rush back.

Mi hija y mi hijo -en-ley me trajeron a este, su restaurante local favorito, el lunes pasado por la noche. El lugar estaba lleno y el zumbido era genial. Nuestro camarero era divertido y amable, pero la comida - OMG, la comida era maravillosa. Teníamos una selección de platos de pescado superlativos antes de meter en un gran cangrejo entero con patatas fritas, mantequilla especial y alioli. Podría seguir elogiando la cocina sin repetirme, pero basta decir que este restaurante acaba de ganar el premio The Scotsman 'Mejor Restaurante Local' 2024. También estuvieron en el top 10 de los mejores restaurantes británicos. Muy merecido. Nuff dijo.

We opted for the sharing platters. Everything was excellent. Hidden gem.

Consistently excellent food and service, a great neighbourhood gem.

The music was far too loud, which is not relaxing, and does not encourage us to return. We asked for the volume to be turned down, which was done, but very soon turned up again. All diners had to raise their voices to hear one another. We had to lean across our table, straining to communicate. It marred enjoyment of the food. We prefer a pause between courses, rather than plates being whisked away, and the next course arriving before we had finished mouthfuls.

Food delicious and wine list long but the staff were super helpful. Salad was a stand out amongst a number of delicious dishes including the salt cod mousse and the asparagus.

A pretentious restaurant. Two main dishes.were off the menu at a 6.30 booking. Over priced Jon dory, a cheap fish .Strange and inappropriate flavour combinations. Sharing dishes arrived at different intervals and a salad order was forgotten.

The food was utterly delicious, the staff were incredible, and the price we paid for it was arguably the best value for money I've come across in Edinburgh for the quality delivered. We were celebrating my Dad's 70th birthday and they also dressed the blackboard with a happy birthday message, which was a very thoughtful touch that my Dad really appreciated. It's not easy to find somewhere for a big table without compromising on choice or quality and I was pretty anxious about how to accommodate everyone. Stuart, the owner and head chef spent a lot of time finding out what we needed and tailored the menu to our group, with particular attention paid to my Granny who is 100 and often overlooked by the systems put in place by restaurants for bookings our size (11). Seriously though, if you were to strip away all of the above-and-beyond elements of this meal and focus purely on the food, this review would still be glowing. A rare gem, don't walk, run.

Lovely food, very poor service - having arrived at the restaurant on time, our table was not ready and we were escorted to a very dark and empty wine bar space downstairs. After asking for menus we were incorrectly given the limited wine bar menu rather than the full dining menu and shortly after asked what we would like to order. Eventually we were given the correct menus and, after a further wait, taken upstairs to our table which was far too small to accommodate the number of small plates we were encouraged to order resulting in a random and piecemeal serving of our chosen dishes. After having to request one of our missing side dishes (fries with aioli), without which the fries would surely have arrived as dessert, we commented on the size of the table and were met with the response "they are all the same size, mate" which was not only factually incorrect but also overly familiar and borderline rude! At the end of the meal, we commented on both our overall experience and the inappropriate comment from the member of staff however the only concession offered by the manager was that they would have a word with the individual concerned, adding, as if by way of explanation, that they were a casual establishment. We were subsequently presented with a bill which inappropriately included the discretionary service charge... Sadly not the dining experience we had anticipated!

After reading the reviews I was really excited to try however was unfortunately disappointed. I'm unsure if we caught them on a bad night however after opting for the set menu we had been seated for over an hour and 40 minutes before we received our main of market fish (as were the couple beside us) and unfortunately when it did come out the fish was luke warm or actually cold in places. I would have understood more if it was busy however we were one of about 3 tables in. For the price (c£150 for two people) i would have hoped for better service and food.

food is very good, seervice is fine, items are overpriced but the worse is the "receptionist" behind the bar: this lady comletely ignored our repeated requests to turn off the music blasting over our table. she argued that there was enough backgroung noise in the restaurant to "hide" the noise from the music! you'd have to pay me to go back!!!

Awesome food with the freshest highest quality ingredients. We has the set taster menu. Each course a delight if different flavour combinations.y favorite the salad topped with pickled kohlrabi, the hake served with chickpeas and spinach and the goats cheese and onion. Great wine list to accompany. Small cosy restaurant with a lovely ambience. A must if you are visiting Edinburgh

Today was my first visit to Fin and Grape and certainly won't be my last. Lovely restaurant, brilliant reasonably priced food with friendly knowledgeable staff. I would highly recommend and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

This is a great restaurant. The Food is amazing and the staff are great. We went for the taster menu and everything was so tasty. The staff were really friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is lovely and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I Would highly recommend.

We had an excellent meal here at weekend. Expertly cooked and presented with great ingredients and wonderfully combined and served. Cod mousse, monkfish on the bone, cabbage dish my highlights but all excellent.

Well deserving of a high rating. The set lunch menu was great, especially the coley in anchovy butter and the miso mousse. The prices are reasonable and the service was excellent too. Will definitely return. Update: March 2024 - have returned and it's still great!

Brilliant place to enjoy good food and company

Love Fin & Grape. The food is fun and interesting. The service is lovely. The room has enough people but not so many that it's too loud or overcrowded.

Outstanding meal. The ambience was terrific for a Friday evening, and the food was exceptional. Wine and beer selection were great. Waiting staff had excellent personalities and were friendly and helpful.

Just wonderful. We've taken guests to Fin and Grape and they've all been just as delighted with the place as we are, the food, cocktails and wine are second to none. I'll keep coming back, even as a vegetarian: the veg options are just as good - if not better - than the fish/meat. Highly, highly recommend. GET THE FRIES AND AIOLI whatever you do.

We had an amazing meal here on our visit to Edinburgh. The food was fantastic and fresh and the service was absolutely brilliant. It's been a very long while since we've had service that great in a restaurant and it made our evening. All the dishes were very tasty and the portions of cured fish in both dishes I had was just enough. Between us, we had 3 plates each, a salad to share and dessert. Dessert was especially good! Would highly recommend a visit if your in Edinburgh.

Great food and service. Beautifully cooked fish. We had chef selection for 4, which was a mix of small plates and mains. Included salt cod, mackerel and sole fillets. Everything was cooked to perfection with a nice selection of sides. Excellent service and wine list. Will definitely return.

I’d spotted this restaurant and with my birthday near my dear friend and I were excited about trying wonderful fresh Scottish seafood. Sadly our experience was ok, no taste sensations. Nothing special really. Oysters devoid of their essential ice bed, undercooked monk and chocolate mousse reminiscent of something from childhood. Sorry Fin and Grape but we left feeling a bit disappointed that we had experienced an overpriced offering. I will share an idea of cost. My friend and I shared everything, as that is how our server presented the Fin and Grape philosophy. That means our whole dining cost of £112 was actually designed for one cover not two, which is clever. One set of 3 oysters £10. One plate of salad £8. One bowl frozen French fries £5. One small serving of monk a whopping £45! One Dessert £11. 2 Coffees and one bottle of Vinho Verde. Shame. A great wee place though which I’m sure will enjoy great success.

A real find, had the tasting menu with 4 small plates and a main, beautiful food and carefully curated through the 4 small plates from the salt cod mousse, coley ceviche, pea, mint & ricotta salad to a warm courgette & mussel dish, then the main of a beautifully roasted & generously portioned piece of hake. Attentive & personal service. Will be back!

The food was exceptional, service was very good. Dietary requirements stated during online booking were noted, without us having to repeat them when we got there. Food came in a timely manner, not rushed. We had booked an early evening slot (17:30) which has a request to vacate the table by 19:30 - suited us fine as we were attending a nearby concert but would otherwise be an issue so we would book a later slot next time. We were at no time asked to finish up our meal though. Waiter kept our wine glasses topped up although we prefer that they don't - just something we would request on next visit. Discretionary service charge of 10% which I felt was a bit low given the quality of the experience overall.

Lovely lunch at Fin & Grape. We ahared 5 small plates; fries aioli, cuttle fish, surf clams, BBQ pork skwers with broccoli ketchup and venison tataki. Everything was prepared to perfection. The venison is especially paired really well with blend rum pineapple and miso daiquiri cocktail. The 2 desserts (rhubarb and artichoke) were also a wonderful finish of the lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff members. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our evening at Fin and Grape. We had 4 small plates and shared a pudding. The food was delicious, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were great. The wine list is extensive! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I've already recommended this restaurant to friends who live locally.

The food and services are very good. The price is very reasonable. I have ordered a set of 6 small dishes for 2 to share, it is just £36 for a tasting menu (2 persons). Very good value for money. The dessert is great too. The chef is an expert on wine. Very good wine selection. Highly recommended.

the most beautiful food and wonderful service I've ever had! Gorgeous for a pretty weekend lunch

We have been to Fin & Grape twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. On both occasions the food was excellent, however the dinner was especially memorable. We had the dressed crab, langoustines and monkfish large dishes, as well as a selection of the smaller plates. Every dish was delicious and we would come back for a third time. The staff are lovely and really add to the experience. They know their wines, as well as the food, making the experience sublime.

Loved Fin and Grape. Went for a drink but they had a table and we chose a number of the sharing plates. Delicious. Reasonably priced with charming staff and a great atmosphere. Unpretentious but classy - will be back !

Really nice flavours and presentation. We had the small plates and tasted one of everything plus sides for the four of us, went back for seconds on the sea trout which was delicious.

Generally I wouldn't go for a "fish" restaurant, but I needn't have worried as one thing conspicuously absent on the menu was fish. There were two options - but both required sharing. Plates are served tapas style, coming out of the kitchen as they are ready, it just doesn't work with this type of cuisine, the 'mains' are too expensive for this and overall it felt rushed. On the up side, it's a lovely setting and the staff are very attentive and friendly. The wine choice was excellent and the quality of food was certainly good. I think the price is on the high side for what's delivered, not hugely but just too much. Ultimately I wouldn't be a return customer.

Innovative local restaurant serving a mix of small "tapas style" dishes (meaning small, not Spanish) and bigger "mains". All the dishes are interesting, full of flavour and expertly crafted. A lovely visit, we are really glad to FINALLY be able to sit in. The food was delicious but very expensive for the amount we received. Fin&Grape is a place to go for a lovely visit. Delicious food and coffee, helpful staff

The food is simply delicious and perfect and the team working there make you feel welcomed, wanted and like you've always known them. We tasted lots of the dishes and the concept of having multiple plates to share allowed everyone at our table to share the experience and generated a lot of conversation; enjoying really great food together. I could go on for a long time, but I won't, instead I'll just say it's an absolute must!

I won't lie when I saw the menu I was little underwhelmed with dishes sounding good but nothing stand out. We were advised to order a few dishes between us and share which made more sense with what was on offer, chose a few specials and a few dishes off the menu. All I can say is wow, honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time, each dish was stunning and everything exceeded expectations. Half lobster was one of the best I've had and the fries.... just amazing. Lemon sole was truly impressive and not very often do dishes have me fighting off my fellow guests for the last fillet. Good food, great wine and charming staff. What more can you ask for, if you look at the menu and think you aren't sure, just go. You won't regret it.

I'm hard to please when it comes to food and rarely write reviews unless somewhere is outstanding. Fin&Grape definitely fit into this category for me. If you are ever in Edinburgh then check this place out. Scratch that - go to Edinburgh just for this place. Every single morsel was just perfect. Totally fantastic food, great wine and attentive (but not interfering) service. Cannot praise this restaurant enough and cannot wait to get back.
