Super fresh fish and chips, very friendly and polite service, great vegan options too. Try the Tofish, it's a revelation!

Most people think nothing of going to a chip shop and ordering whatever they fancy. For a coeliac, this is unknown. Going to the Fiddler's Elbow made gluten free feel like the normal option rather than the tagged on 'well we can do gluten free on the third Tuesday of the month if there's a full moon and Geoff hasn't got a day off'. The battered fish was lovely - light, not greasy. The chips are lovely. The chicken selection pieces are generous. The curry sauce is dark and spicy. The onion rings we had were so enormous they only just fitted in the box. THANK YOU, Fiddler's Elbow, for making me feel normal with such lovely food!

Fabulous, completely gluten-free, fish and chip shop. The food was great, the place looked spotless, the staff were really friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough, whether you need gluten-free food or not. For coeliacs, it could not be better. We'll worth going out of your way for: we did. I just wish I lived closer...

We wanted a light meal between two of us. The food was absolutely excellent - among the best fish and chips I've eaten. Linzi and Dominic were both really friendly. I've never seen a cleaner fish and chip shop. I like the eco approach to cutlery. Definitely a place to recommend if you're in the area.

We went to this fish and chip shop especially as we had family visiting with young children and thought the setting would be lovely. The shop is Immaculate and the lady working there is very friendly. The prices are extortionate and the food was really nothing special . Small portions of edible but not exceptional food. We paid just under £80 for 4 fish & chips and 3 kids meals which didn't include drinks, they didn't have fish available for the childrens meals so I chose chicken chunks which were soggy and the children didn't eat. We paid extra for the forks, sauce and paper bags. The setting in Leintwardine is beautiful and that is definitely worth a visit. I rarely write negative comments but feel the prices for bog standard fish & chips was very excessive and I'm fed up with constant inflated prices.

Being coeliac it is difficult to find really good fish and chips, the fish and chips here are excellent, the staff welcoming, courteous and helpful. Highly recommended.

Very good fish and chips, freshly cooked. We arranged with the pub next door to eat them in their garden. Sustainability is good too.

We had seen that they were classed as the best Fish & Chips in Herefordshire, so we had to try is... Even if it was an hour drive. We weren't disappointed. The food was very tasty and served fresh and hot and the staff were very helpful and engaging, Once we got our food we took a very short stroll to eat by the river. All in all a lovely time was had by all and it was well worth the drive.

It doesn't get better than this. Even ignoring the vegetarian, vegan and non-fish offerings, this is how fish and chips should be done but rarely is. Batter isn't greasy, fish isn't dry, chips aren't mushy, it's all perfect. The shop is smart, the owners friendly, you can order and pay online, and there is a pub next door! Well worth a detour.

Does what it says on the tin! Enjoyed our fish and lovely great big chips. Thought the prices on the condiments were a bit cheeky but we understand the commercial realities. This place looks and feels very very clean. Utterly spotless. Staff were half friendly and happy and half grumpy. Would 100% recommend this place and will certainly be stopping by again.

Lovely fish and chips, however very expensive, we had two standard fish but one was a third smaller than the other but the same price, there maybe a clue in the name, fiddlers elbow, how can you justify £8.40 for a rather small fish, I assume when you have a monopoly you can do what you like.

Excellent fish and chips from a spotlessly clean shop with polite service. We have eaten a lot of fish and chips in our time and this is up there with the very best. Will definitely return.

We are so lucky to have such a fantastic fish and chip shop as this locally. The fish is always fresh, with lovely crispy batter and delicious golden chips. When we moved from Scotland, we never expected to find anywhere to compare with the best up there. Well, we can honestly say that we now have. Plus, the lovely owners have gone out of their way to dish up our beloved haddock, even when it has been difficult. We cannot praise them highly enough!!

After going Vegan I thought I would have to do without 50% of a traditional Fish & Chip meal, luckily my wife checked the website where we could see the Vegan options. I ordered Tofish and chips which is something I've never had before and it was excellent.The Tofu flakes in a similar way to Cod with a thin layer of Sushi Nori (seaweed) sandwiching it. I don't know whether they buy it in or make it themselves but I was very impressed and will be making this a regular thing. There are other Vegan options on the menu which I'll also be exploring. Plus you can order and pay online with a fast pickup.

Great to have a well set up gluten free fish & chips fairly locally. It's always a treat, great batter, crispy chips, good, efficient service. For anyone who is a coeliac this is the place to go near Ludlow

We ordered online and collected our Fish and chips. We were very pleased the fish was beautiful and the batter was crispy. The chips were cooked through but not floating in oil. Excellent we will be back again. We live half an hour away but it was worth travelling the distance.

I place my order online which I found very easy I had the Home-made Goats cheese special which I must say was fantastic It was all so freshI was greeted by two very chatty owners Who was so very nice. The whole shop look just fantastic it was clean fresh and just spotless It’s so nice to see that they use products that are compostable! I love a good fish and chips meal and the fish and chips from this place are absolutely outstanding. I’d go so far as to say it’s among the best I’ve tasted anywhere in England and that includes the famous Whitby chippy. Controversial maybe but honestly they are that good.

Fantastic food and service. We were staying in Bleddfa so 20 mins away and still they delivered to us. The vegan pie was gorgeous and the best fish and chips we’ve had. Will be returning.

An eveninhg ride out to Leintwardine had as its reward a great meal from the Fiddler's Elbow Chippy. The adjacent Sun Inn provided drink and shelter. The whole evening was superb.

I love this fish and chip shop .The food is delicious and most is gluten dairy free with a good range of vegan options. That is so good for me as it is somewhere I can eat without having to make a fuss.The couple who run it are comitted to make food suitable for everyone.They have also supported the community through floods and covid (with a smile )..The click and collect system on the app and website is easy to use ..I hope you enjoy the food as much as I do.

Wonderful fish and chips and the batter is to die for. Brilliant service, two of our party were gluten free and we would definitely recommend it. You can always go into the garden of the pub next door to enjoy.

I ordered Plaice and Chips on-line to collect at 6.15 pm yesterday and to eat at the Sun Inn next door with local motorcycling friends. It was ready on time and done to perfection. I shall be visiting again very soon.

On the way back from a walk up Pen Y Fan we ordered our fish and chips via the new app. As ever they were fantastic - this is the only place where o eat the batter as it tastes so good . Tucked away in rural Leintwardine, this 'chippy' offers so much more than your standard fare: fantastically fresh fish, HOMEMADE pies, veggie burgers and the most amazing cheese and onion fritters!They cater for all tastes and sensitivities, with gluten free batter that is so light and crispy you would never know, and the best gravy I've ever had- and it's VEGAN! Their chicken breast nuggets are superb, and of course the best crisp but fluffy in the middle chips to go with everything.Dominic and Lindsey are friendly and knowledgable, and will do everything they can to make sure you eat well :)Finally, don't be fooled by their packaging- it's eco-friendly and plant-based, although you'd never guess!Do yourselves a favour and use their click and collect service ASAP.

Loved the food, it is always Served to a great standard, we visited here a while back and have never been disappointed - today is no exception. Food is always cooked fresh to order so can take a little longer sometimes but that’s life. Also fish and chips are Gluten free as standard which is great for us as we have wheat gluten allergies.

Since lockdown Fiddlers Elbow have been providing an excellent delivery service to our door. The pre-order delivery always arrives promptly on time and is piping hot. The quality of their meals have kept their very high standard. We now have a new tradition in our home called 'Fish & Chip Tuesday'. Dominic, Lynsey and the team are working so hard and are successfully keeping their customers satisfied. We cannot praise them enough!

Fiddlers Elbow has managed to remain open and alter it's business to provide customers with a home delivery service. This must be extremely challenging in these difficult times. However the quality of the fish and chips (and mushy peas!) remains excellent. Beautifully cooked, good quality fish and lovely chips. Despite ordering late, they went out of their way to ensure that my husband and I and our neighbours received tasty hot food on time and safely. Greatly appreciated, thank you! We’ve used Fiddlers Elbow for takeaway fish and chips ever since Dominic and Linzi took it over, and it has always been very good. They’ve innovated and developed the business year on year, and their positive attitude and great customer focus have been recognised in several significant awards and nominations.

Even during covid-19 these lovely people who run the chip shop make sure everyone can still have their favourite tea and also still manage to cook it perfectly too! We won’t have a chippy takeaway from anywhere else. The service is brilliant despite these hard times. Food is lovely and my children absolutely love a chippy tea now and then. Can’t fault it! Definetly recommend!

Just wanted to say I had my first order today and it was brilliant. Best fish and chips ever, and delivered on time and with a smile. Could not ask for more, especially in these difficult times.

We live a 20 minute drive away, so I didn't think these guys would be up for delivering but they did, and they did it in style! Sorting out the order was easy as pie using facebook messenger and the online ordering system, paying too. The food arrived exactly when it had been promised, piping hot and all packaged in recyclable stuff, which was a nice bonus.

Even in these trying times we can rely on our local chippy. Freshly cooked to order they are delivering to the doorstep to households within a mile's radius. Hot, crispy, comforting and delicious.

Cooked to order, with high tech screens telling you where the fish were caught, what variety potatoes were used etc. Pity the quality was poor, both Mother in law and son complained batter was poor, chips weren't crispy, pie was OK, but obviously bought in, and chicken nuggets nothing to write home about. And eating in the Sun next door was dire.

We live in Warwick so have dozens of chip shops locally, none seem to do gluten free much, apart from the odd Tuesday or Friday evening. When we visit my parents in Shropshire I always find it amazing that a village chippy in a relatively isolated part of the country can cater 100% of the time for our coeliac daughter. The food is always spot on, and the ordering process feels like an experience in itself, with interesting info about where and when the fish was caught. We always take our food to the pub a few doors down which makes it a great evening out. It's worth packing a bag with salt, vinegar, sauces and cutlery. Would recommend highly for anyone but particularly those with dietary requirements, my daughter has eaten here countless times and never been poorly so the staff are clearly very clued up on cross contamination issues.

I come here all the time and I find it great that a chip shop caters to people with allergies, intolerances and lifestyle choices, the service and quality I can’t fault at all. They have added new gluten free options to the menu when I went there tonight, I was excited to see there was gluten free southern fried chicken which I had to have...I didn’t regret it, it was amazing and I will definitely be going there to have it again.

Fiddlers Elbow is an outstanding chip shop in Leintwardine, serving a great choice of traditional foods - fish and chips, pies etc. - as well as burgers, chicken, and a brilliant ‘Free-From’ selection of foods. The service is always top notch, the staff are the friendliest people you could wish to meet and the food is of a very high quality.

We have been to the Fiddlers a few times and never been disappointed. Lovely fresh food, always piping hot. I’d recommend the Fiddlers elbow to anyone. We will be back.

We love the food served at The Fiddlers Elbow and go out of our way to visit whenever we are on our way from Essex to to our friends in Cardiff.

Myself and the wife visited was away here on holiday . Had fish and chips very overrated and over priced, no idea how they have been shortlisted for this award, waited about 25 minutes for them to cook it. Found the fish very small not many chips all the chips was small looked like they have been re heated\warmed from the day before. Tasteless will not be recommending this to anyone overpriced and very overrated!

Read about this place after it was shortlisted among the top fish and chip takeaways in Britain. It is about 12 miles from where we live but Leintwardine is a lovely village. Thought that it would be popular due to it being promoted on-line, so when we were told our order would be half an hour it was acceptable. However when my wife went to collect the food, it still wasn't ready! Our number was 47, and although my wife could see that our fish and the rest of our order was ready, a guy who was number 51 came in and his food was served straight away. In the queue with my wife was a chap with number 49 and he was told his order would be another 30 minutes. Never mind, the food would be worth it - but no.... The fish was very thin, though the batter on it was quite nice, there were not that many chips, and most of mine were small "chippings" and they were generally not very warm.

I visited the fiddlers elbow and ordered a very standard fish n chips twice small sausage and curry sauce and paid up front my order number was 47. I was told it would be half an hour which was fine. I returned half an hour later, number 45 was being prepared and the chef was just putting a load of freshly cooked fish into the hot counter. The chips were cooked and there were small sausages ready. Why then did I wait another 20minutes. Order number 51 came in and was served with his meals which the cook had to do in the back apparently well that was the reason given. I stood like a lemon watching the freshly cooked fish just sitting there. The 3assistants were falling over each other doing nothing while the chef kept walking back and forth across the shop being very rude to the assistants. When I questioned why I was still having to wait the assistant said it was because Darren hadn’t passed my food order back to them and they couldn’t pack it without this action. Totally ridiculous when the food is ready and sitting there. Once my food was packaged all 3assistants apologised to me. There is something wrong here, the food was just about warm and was not worth the wait. How very disappointing come on Darren get your system changed it is not working and you are going to lose customers.

My husband and I decided to take a day adventure from Ludlow to Leintwardine just to have the fish n chips here. Yes, it is worth the trip! First of all, when I walked into the shop, I was greeted with a friendly hello. I was impressed with how the owners called people by their name. When it was my turn to order, they didn't have one of my favourite tartare sauces available. Part of my journey to this shop was for this amazing tartare sauce. They make it fresh in the shop, and it is so delicious. Anyway, Dominic, went out of his way to whip up a fresh batch. I was so impressed with his ability to go above and beyond with his customer service. That alone made my day! I ordered the cod, chips, mushy peas, with the tartare sauce. They all tasted lovely. We took them over and ate them inside the pub next door. Overall, I have to say that this isn't your normal chip shop. They make a lot of things from scratch, choose higher quality ingredients, and have a great deal of knowledge. Food is made fresh when you order, so be a little patient---its' well worth the wait. Definitely coming back for another trip in the future!

I love our local chip shop! The staff are friendly and the chips are cooked fresh. They serve vegan pies - usually 2 options to choose from - plus a vegan burger and even offer vegan cheese. Top tip - when its busy, order a vegan pie instead of fish as it will come out quicker!

Finally got here to buy fish and chips to eat at The Sun after hearing about this great concept! Ordered two regular fish and chips and waited while they were freshly cooked. The food was fine, not amazing, but we seemed to have not a lot of food for quite a lot of money. Won't be rushing back.

I would recommend. Knowledgeable on their products they sell. Nothing was left by my kids and they weren’t asking for more food. So I take that as a good thing.

I regularly call in for Fish and chips and the food is excellent, freshly cooked to order so you do have a short wait but if you phone order you can collect straight away.

These were the worst and most expensive fish and chip I've had in years. The chips were made with a good tasting potato , but were more like boiled potato with a very slight crispness and no flavour. The batter was leaden and solid and again had no flavour. The fish tasted old. A tiny sprinkling of salt and vinegar added no flavour at all. Service was very slow and the owner looked miserable and bad tempered.Portions were small for the price. A horrid experience and one I won't be repeating

Upon moving the a neighbouring village, we were told about our closest chippy the “award winning chip shop” and decided to try it out, too tired to cook on a Friday night.

Visiting here with my wife for the first time since moving in nearby I was hopeful that we would get a decent meal from this place. Upon entering its very clean and seems to be almost the the holy grail of chip shops, however I was a bit surprised to see the counter lacking pretty much any food except sausages. Well I though it’s obviously fresh that should be good. So ordered our food a large chips and a sausage. Usually from any other chippy this would be a good amount for us. However we had to order another portion as the large chips were obviously for a different species. We left forever hopeful. However we looked at how much we had spent, double that of any chip shop.

So my family and I live in the village and we are always getting food down there. So we thought on a sunny Friday evening that we would go down to the chip shop. As we live in the village we know the prices are a bit more but we like to support the local businesses.

Well all of my experiences have been wonderful with this company. Though sometimes the waiting times were long, it was totally worth it because everything tastes amazing! I will definitely be ordering from here in the future! The staff are all wonderful and helpful. I hope these guys do well in the future!

Waited over half an hour, not even acknowledged. Phone orders seem to take preference! Was really looking forward to trying the fish and chips and eat them in the pub garden! The owner seemed very stressed and spoke to the woman serving very abruptly and rude. Not nice to witness. Left and went to Ludlow for fish and chips instead. Not going back in a hurry

Made a round trip on our motorbikes just for fish n chips at Lientwardine's Fiddlers Elbow Fish & Chips. Well worth the trip. Freshly cooked cod with crisp batter and huge flakes of white fish. No grease ( important with bike leathers) served in a bio-degradable carton and even comes with a slice of lemon! They do gluten free n vegan options too! They are in the top 50 fish n chips shops. Friday 6th June is National fish n chips day so give them a try. You wont be disappointed.

I'm a great admirer of really good fish & chips. I was told I had to go on a gluten free diet, which I thought had brought things to an end. Great gluten free fish and chips, if you didn't know you'd never guess they were gluten free, proper worth the visit 50 odd mile round trip for me! Dom is mega, 2 years without a battered sausage, and rustling two up for me was AMAZING!

This chippy is hands down amazing. The options for people with dietary requirements are excellent, and the food is always served hot and freshly cooked. Would highly recommend also the option to eat the chips next door in the pub is brilliant! I would definitely say this is the best chippy in the world!!

We bought fish n chips, mushy peas & a smoked haddock fish cake yesterday evening (13/02/19).

We decided we would have fish and chips, so we went to the Fiddlers Elbow and ordered fish and chips x2 and a sausage and chips, the staff were smiley and very polite, the proprietors were lovely and so friendly, service was great all cooked fresh as we waited, the establishment was clean and fresh and the decor was lovely, all food served with eco friendly boxes and paper bags great for environment.

The chips were anaemic looking and floppy, the veggie burger tasteless, the fish was ok, this was our 2nd visit, there won’t be a third. The lady behind the counter was very brusque too.

We were pleasantly surprised with the new (to us) decor when we visited recently as we hadn’t used this chipper for a long time.

Had fish and chips here - excellent! Place was immaculate, service was exceptional and all great value. Pub next door has a limited menu so was happy for us to bring our chips to eat in their nice garden as we were having drinks. Perfect!
