Well, HOW RUDE, went in last night for a drink with my husband before dinner, which we have done on lots of occasions, only to be told it's all ticket event?????? We can't serve you!!!!!!! If you haven't got a ticket. NOW, let's see next week when it isn't a ticket event, and the Joe public can go in again. Are you a public house or a private venue????? 😡😡

I don’t often write reviews but after seeing so many negative reviews I feel like I should write about our time at ffolkes we came here on a recommendation from a friend we stayed for the night in one of the spa cabins it was so lovely and had some really good quirks to it we really needed a relaxing stay and that’s exactly what we had ! We went for dinner in the restaurant and loved the all you can eat carvery plenty of choice and the pies were to die for amazing !! The brunch the next day was great also plenty of choice and good quality food I’ve been to plenty of places over the years and we would deffo be heading back to here again and have already started telling friends about this place it was a thumbs up from us 👍🥰

We’ve eaten here many times this year and this evenings meal was so disappointing with the service. It took 1 & 1/2 hours for our food to come, 45 mins for drinks and we nearly gave up on dessert. Kept being told we’re busy tonight! You know how bookings you have, so staff correctly …

What a dump. Only a 4 star rating for hygiene and I'm surprised it got that. We'd booked a table for lunch in the 'garden' for 1pm. Arrived at 1.05 to be told there was no lunch menu (no garden either that we saw), only a brunch buffet that consisted of fried breakfast that had been sitting out and was uncovered when we were led to it. The rather abrupt staff said we had to hurry because that was cleared at 1.30. We left. DON'T look at the food images on the website, you'll be even more disappointed by what's on offer.

Food was lukewarm at best. It was our wedding anniversary and the whole experience was poor to say the least. We sat in a dark corner and I could hardly read the menu! It was not a romantic dark but a no light bulbs dark! I spoke to the waitress about the poor quality of the food and she said she would speak to her manager. We left half an hour later without anyone speaking to us. When I reiterated my comments to the girl on the till I was told "well its not everyone's choice of food" whatever does that mean? Sad to say will not be returning.

It looks like great menus with different food but not great last week food was cold and on first night they reheated my pie ( they told me as crumbled and was a little mushed up) second night fries were cold they replaced this time. Tonight with oishii Street kitchen chicken was dryer than a Jacobs cream cracker. Excellent spot for the kids, and also for other activities. Menu was the Saturday and Asian inspired menu, which was fantastic quality and very tasty. Kids menu was also spot on. Outdoor park kept the kids entertained and it was ideal to be able to sit in the conservatory to see them play independently. Service was helpful and friendly, and you can get 10% off with the “Norfolk passport” which is free to sign up to. My only negative was the toilets although nice and modern, were not as clean as I would expect, floors were very wet and they were not particularly clean all round.

Called at just before 12. The front of house told me they were only doing breakfast. 🫤 Not a dealbreaker, we came for the playground since the gin trap have decimated theirs. What is breakfast I asked. Turns out, breakfast is whatever the hell you want it to be. Bottomless drinks (non alcoholic) bottomless full English buffet, bottomless cereal, smoothie pots, mr whippy (?!). But the biggest hit with the kids (apart from the absolutely fantastic playground) was the bottomless made to order in front of your eyes pancakes. One set of choc chip, one set of blueberry. I was willing for them to not eat them so I could try some but they were inhaled. If you’re going to spend a couple of hours here and you’re hungry, this is the best place on earth. Weird as hell but brilliant, I loved it. One possible suggestion/criticism- quite a few wasps, perhaps some wasp traps? We will be back. Again and again. Can’t believe we’ve driven by all these times, we went to the pigs and saw the advert and knew we needed to visit on the way north.

We went for a meal on a Sunday evening, pie special and "low and slow" menu was being served. The staff took quite a while to take our drinks order, then another long wait for a food order to be taken. We were trying to order on the app, then staff said we could order on paper. Our drinks had been prepared but left on the counter for a long time ,I was tempted to get up and serve them myself! Our food arrived before our drinks did. The food was tasty and hot ,but very expensive. We didn't need dessert as very full, but I asked the waitress for my daughters ice cream that came with her kids meal deal, 15mins later it still hadn't arrived. I went to pay and mentioned that it never arrived, they apologised and went to get some,by which point we were leaving. Nobody seemed to be in charge of staff or the smooth running of the bar and restaurant. The play areas good but is getting abit tired. The whole place relies on its reputation and passing tourist trade but doesn't give value for money or prioritise on customer service. May return in future but wouldn't rush back.

There was nothing wrong with the food we had or the service of the staff except for the delay in getting drinks as you can no longer go up to the bar like you can now in most pubs post Covid. The menu though was limited pretty much to Streat food which is not to everyone’s taste. I don’t like writing poor reviews and rarely do but, in this case, just felt I had to say something. I can only comment on the “pub” if you can call it that. The friends we were with had been before (a while ago to be fair) and suggested stopping there as we were on our way to the coast. It’s a lovely looking place from the outside and looks welcoming. However when we went in it was if a lovely character pub had been gutted and replaced with an almost American style eatery. The only thing that faintly resembled a pub was the bar which looked “lost” in the middle of a vast space. The seating resembled a cafe and the gaudy colour scheme really didn’t work. It was if it was an unsuccessful attempt to be trendy but was more suited to a children’s play area. Unfortunately it lacked any sort of character at all which is a shame 😟. I’ve given a 3 based on friendly staff and food we had being okay. If it had been on the “cafe” itself it would’ve been a 1.

Really excited to come here with 2 young kids 1 teenage child and 2 adults, unfortunately we were disappointed. The service was lovely but the food was only acceptable and VERY expensive. 1 younger child didn’t have dinner so we had 4 burgers, 4 chips, 3 Diet Cokes, a milk and for dessert a sundae , 2 of the Reese’s ice cream van puddings and a chocolate cake. Altogether it came to £129!!! The Reese’s ice cream van pudding alone was £19! Shocking. It’s too expensive for a family restaurant even as a treat. It’s a shame as being a local it’s one less place I can afford to go.

Outdoor play area amazing, including zip line. Did the container golf, very tricky for kids. A must-do on visit to Norfolk. My 9 year old’s new favourite restaurant! It’s a big restaurant so it’s busy and loud. The pancakes, made to order, are huge and delicious, the coffee machine does a decent variety of reasonable drinks and my son likes the ice cream machine! The yoghurt was ok and the freshly made bread was great. The cooked items (sausages, bacon, beans) were all over cooked and I saw freshly cooked stuff being dumped on top of the food already in the pot…wouldn’t fancy the stuff at the bottom by the end of brunch service. Only tiny croissants and pain au chocolat, wouldn’t have minded more selection of pastries and jams and cereal. Tables cleared promptly but staff weren’t very engaged.

My beef brisket pie was graeat and my wife had the plant burger (with a cheeky portion of pulled pork) both are highly recommended. Great choice of beers and when you throw in helpful friendly staff it makes this a top choice. We are staying in Flicham so will probably treat ourselves to Ffolkes again on a different menu night.

So we decided spur of moment to go for tea for hubby's birthday, decided on ffolkes arms as it was where we got married and only 6 mles down the road plus it offered a bit of fun for our 3 children. So we booked an hour before we arrived and had a reservation for 6pm, Decided to take advantage of the crazy golf on site before we sat for dinner 3 adults + 1 x 14 1x 16 £30. 9 different holes and it was fun.. Cold as all Outside but undercover, All hungry so at reception arrived for table, all good Restaurant and bar area is amazing inviting airy clean with a lovely ambience, much money has spent in achieving this lovely atmosphere since I last visited. Staff on bar area also wonderful.. We were seated and given menus Every night has a special theme night it seems Thursday night is Mexican.. Great all up for that plus for the less adventurous an option of burgers AND pies So suits all However once we all decided that 3 were having Mexican and 2 burgers we looked at the prices. 😡😡😡 Too expensive.. Just can't justify £12 for a burger and then had to add on your sides For example £4.50 for fries and same for salad £12 think for burrito plus sides Then add in your drinks, Didn't realise this lovely little village pub had changed so much Never ever have I walked out of a restaurant embarrassed to say I can't afford this I expect these prices with the times we are in and I'm sorry that a lovely village establishment has to do this too Bring back your family menu as a second option for us that want to still treat the kids and have family time especially when YOUR PLSY AREA IS OUT OF THIS WORLD

I booked to try their "street food" venue as we hadn't been out since lockdown 1 (13 months) What a let down, after looking online at all the delicious food on the menus I found when we got there that 90% of it wasn't even available. Everything was mainly bread based or covered in bread crumbs so basically pizza, burgers or food covered in bread crumbs ..... If you're gluten intolerant there's nothing available at all. Also there was meant to be a live DJ, all we noted was a cd player on some pallets. They also charged us £3 on entry for each person saying it was a booking fee just incase we were a "no show" so the table wouldn't go to waste, well we witnessed people turning up without booking and they found them tables, when questioned it had turned into a parking fee (£9 an hour... rip-off) So all in all I'd say if you want street food pop down to your local city centre and grab yourself a £2 burger and save yourself some cash on over inflated food.

We stopped in for breakfast on our way to holiday in the Lake District as I had purchased some vouchers that were on offer earlier in the year. The breakfast would normally be a buffet but obviously that was not to be the case at this time, which is fine, however they appeared to staff it the same as when patrons would be serving themselves. We waited some time to be seated despite booking and the waitress appeared to be in a foul mood. Ordering was to be on paper which would be collected by the waitress. Again fine, however it took an absolute eternity. There were other tables in the restaurant but by no means busy and everyone appeared to be looking around and trying to catch the waitresses eye, but they were studiously ignoring people and also checking some guests out of the hotel. Food eventually came which was fine but not terribly hot, and when you wanted to order something else, the waiting game began again. This meant that instead of a steady flow of orders going in, orders were stacking up and being collected at the same time causing more delay. We were there for nearly TWO HOURS for breakfast in the end which is unacceptable really and we were lucky that my toddler managed to behave for so long. I have dined at the sister restaurants (Byfords and The Pigs) regularly and they are far superior to this so not sure how they could get it so wrong?I have more vouchers to use but my husband and I agreed that it’s not worth the trip in the current format so might just give them away.

Web site mentions that this is a 300-year old coaching inn, with well photographed rooms. By association, you are given the impression that this is a fine dining establishment. It's not. This menu is good old pub food. Enjoyed the Sunday pie roast and fish and chips but stacking food on a mini tower does not transform it into high quality dining. Casual, and family friendly with the functional, understated restaurant decor we are all now familiar with. Bring the kids and have a pub pie. Staff are efficient, friendly and chatty. Cannot wait to return. Will definitely come back with the children next time. Thank you to all at the ffolkes for a wonderful evening. See you all soon.

We went today for the hog roast. It wasn’t a proper hog roast, the cracking was tiny the portions were tiny and the hog roll had loads stuffing and hardly any pork in it. The pulled pork on the chips was really tasty. But tbh we were all rather disappointed as we had been many times last year and portions were great. We felt that because of the government scheme the portions were made smaller - I would of never paid £12 for the tiny portion but obviously £6 is reasonable. Staff were friendly, food come out quick but it’s nothing like it used to be. Looking at the current reviews shows that many people felt the same as I’m confident last year it averaged 4.5. It’s a shame as it’s a beautiful building with a great kids play area but it’s slipped big time.

I met my friend today and sat in the garden the food we ordered was the fish chips and peas when it arrived at our table it looked impressive but how disappointing was it when we cut into the fish the batter was like yorkshire pudding batter at least one inch thick all round and tasted very sweet and sickly uneatable. when we asked for some more tartar sauce we were told that they did not have much left so we had to make do with mayonnaise when the waitress cleared our table we told her about the batter to which her response was chef must have put the wrong batter mix in the wrong box ok we paid half price but the point being that they will claim full price which will be 10 pounds no way would any one want to pay for that please do not order the fish and chips its disgraceful and raw batter on the inside never again.

We had a really lovely lunch here, where we sat outside under the terrace. The service was friendly, food was promptly served and good value for money. The plat are is great for kids of all ages and is a real bonus for families like ours. It is safe and enclosed, as well as being viewable to parents whilst the kids are playing. The pulled pork chips are incredible as well as the Cowoboy beans. The Simple Hog sub was great too. Drinks are about what you would expect. The ice cream is delicious, comes in a waffle cone and is like a Mr Whippy. There is hand sanitiser scattered throughout and a one way system to navigate around safely. The tables are socially distant and there is an online menu, where you order and pay for your food and drinks. All in all, a great place where we will definitely visit again.

Visited here for an evening meal with my husband. Had booked a table as we know it's gets very busy. Service was excellent from the staff. Food was exceptional. Delivered very quickly, very hot and looked amazing. This is one of our favourite places to visit. Either just for a quick drink or a lovely sit down meal. Thank you for a lovely meal and a lovely evening ffolkes. :)

We had dinner here last week. There was a limited menu as the smokehouse buffet was being offered, so we decided to go for that. The food was cheap, greasy and gave us all upset stomachs. Rather than offering unlimited portions, they should focus on their menus and ingredients and serve nicer food. The service wasn't good either.I cannot recommend this restaurant and would definitely advise eating somewhere else.

Not worth the price and the pies provided Laura with bellyache. Wouldn’t eat there again. Service ok but looks a lot better from the road than the food feels in the belly.

My overall experience wasn’t great and the waiting staff were not very attentive. The menu choice was minimal and only one vegan dish, as for the desserts this was appalling and would not recommend.

Recently went there on a Sunday for lunch and I was shocked at the expense for average food. My son had the pie feast. His pies were all pastry and half full of filling. Frozen mixed veg. I had the tapas range as a main course. Avoid the squid. Three measely bits!! To be fair it filled a hole until the bill turned up! £63 for a 14 year old and his mum to eat. £9.50 for a glass of wine!! No pudding for me, just some shortbread for my son as the remaining dishes were all picked over! Coastal prices, substandard execution! Even as I left, I remarked upon the cost and was retorted with "how do you expect us to cover our margins?" I suggest you improve your value for money and people will flock in!! Our village pub. Well it was! Now it is just a magnet for all the poor unsuspecting travellers through! Shame

We arrived at the Ffolkes for a celebratory treat, and we were immediately taken to our pre-booked table. The food was delicious, especially the sausages. Jason the Chef was especially helpful. We also ordered scrambled eggs, an omelette and two fish finger baguettes. They were all delicious, and the soft-serve sundae machine was excellent. Drinks were all good, and the toilets were clean.Overall, our experience was superb.

16 people in our party, not a major number but good business for a mid week night. The ffolkes were aware of the numbers so asked us all to pre order our meals, which was completed as asked and forwarded to the restaurant on the Sunday. When we arrived we all had drinks from the bar(very expensive),we were then seated and 30 minutes later nobody had any food, when the food did arrive dishes were sent back as they were dry and inedible, the pies were so hard to break into, all in all a bad meal. We were all give a 25% discount but really not the standard from a restaurant of the standard this sells its self as.

Wife and I went for the first time. We both chose pies with mixed veg. I had mash (allegedly) and my wife had new potatoes. Both were awful. My wife indicated that the best part of her meal were the new potatoes! The mash simply wasn’t...I had to mash lumps with my fork to make it resemble anything like mash and the veg I think was left over from Christmas. You couldn’t identify what vegetables you were eating they were so bland and they hadn’t even bothered to drain them well either. As for the pies, you needed a chisel to get through the pastry. Got the impression they’d been warming for several days. It’s all a shame really that they can’t afford chefs who can actually cook because the building itself is fantastic and the staff were very friendly. Just a shame the food lets the place down so badly. Will not be returning despite living just a few miles away.

We stayed at the Ffolkes for 3 nights over Christmas. This was our second visit having stayed last Christmas whilst visiting family. Our meal on Christmas Eve was very good it was the curry feast night. We had a lovely Christmas meal at the Ffolkes last Christmas Day and so booked again for this year. Our party numbered 9 people. The Christmas dinner was almost inedible. Soggy but burnt roast potatoes. Very dry Turkey and only two small slices. Rock hard Yorkshire pudding and raw vegetables. I tried to fork a sprout and it shot off my plate and flew across the room. The starter and dessert weren't too bad. Not sure what happened here but it looked like alot of people were unhappy. Such a shame. Will be looking to stay and eat elsewhere next year.

Visited recently for my birthday and stayed on a full board basis. We therefore experienced the offerings for lunch, dinner and breakfast. All were very good. Service was excellent and very friendly. Food was generally good. There were a few little issues or areas that could have been better but generally our experience was great. Price wise it is very reasonable especially for the unlimited feast menus, where you can pig out as much as you like for a very reasonable price. Definitely recommend and will go back

We booked a table for 9 for our sons 50th birthday , our family is spread from Wales ,Birmingham and Medway in Kent, we were expecting a good evening and meal, it was very dissapointing, The menu only had a choice of five items, which were not that impressive, We honestly thought there would be more to choose from! it was a while before the meals were served, but the actual meal was not really worth the wait. The batter on fish was soaked in grease, I really dont know what peas they were, but as we were so hungry, we ate what we could, The only meal that seemed worth a praise was he roast turkey dinner.we asked for a dessert menu, that was again very dissappointing, a help yourself jumble of items, all on display, no covers on! NOT IDEAL.The place was very noisy too, so dont think we will be holding our Christmas do here. The layout needs changing.

We went as a family during Restaurant Week it was very tasty. We had 1 of each of the starters and sweets so we could try a piece of each. We all had a different pie they were well made and hot with a good selection of vegetables. The portions were not small even though it was Restaurant Week. Decor very nice the staff attentive. Thought the lime and soda a bit pricey at £2 but had a Norfolk Passport so got the drinks at a discounted price. We are planning on returning in 2020

I've always wanted to stay at The Ffolkes and when I received an email about the black Friday sale (one night stay with "full board" for £99) I had to snap it up. I stayed here with my fiancé and our daughter. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms and it was a beautiful room and had a really comfy bed. Travel cot included for a cost. We arrived at lunch time and the food was delicious. We could have whatever we wanted food wise. I had a starter and a main and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, probably the best food I've had out in a while. Drinks were not included in the full board but that was no issue.

All the staff were so friendly as they are always are. Our drink and food order was taken and the lady were served us (sorry I don't know her name) couldn't have been more accomadating. Our food was fantastic. As we left to pay our bill the server (Tom I believe his name is) was chatty and super friendly. Love coming here. One of our favourite places to visit. Even just for pint and a game of pool. Highly recommended. Thank you everyone at the ffolkes.

Visited this restaurant as a winner of the KL.FM celebration of Norfolk restaurant week. Excellent welcoming staff and very attentive service. We ordered from the 3 courses for £17 menu. Although we only had to pay for our drinks we were surprised at the value for money this menu offered. We will definitely return as paying customers after experiencing a great evening with lovely food and a very pleasant atmosphere. Staff were very attentive, friendly and service was quick. Highly recommend the Chicken and smoked bacon pie, ours certainly wasn't 'microwaved inedible pastry' as a previous review suggested' but a 'proper' well filled tasty homemade pie.

Forget about a nice bit of flaky or buttery filo, the pastry for the pies is armour plated ! Must be a new receipe featuring PVA glue, wallpaper paste and edible 'concrete' - blimy were they tough. Guess they are mass prepared, frozen and then micro-waved when needed. Filling very hot and tasty - but pastry was horrible - hard, pretty much inedible - both my wife left most of it. Shame really.

Probably my worst WS meal ever. 3 sausages almost burnt, they were tasteless and well overcooked which I said to the server who grinned at me. The chips as usual most were hard and inedible, peas hard. Served in a bowl with gravy all over the chips. WS has had a problem with hard chips for months, I have complained to staff and emailed head office to no avail. Thats it I AM NOT eating at a WS any more.

Two adults and two dogs enjoyed our weekend at the GTI. From arrival, the personalised touches really made for a memorable experience- homemade cakes, gin and tonic in the suite, relaxed but efficient service and delightfully presented accommodation. The pub and restaurant is wonderful, the food is exceptional. The service was wonderfully attentive and relaxed, the prices were good value. We ate in the restaurant and the pub, both menus were superb. We visited beaches, ran around the Downs, shopped in Burnham Market and Thornham Farm shops.
