A warm welcome from landlady Rachel at this traditional Farndale pub. Well kept ales on tap and a decent Rose wine slaked a thirst on arrival followed by a plump Sirloin Steak and trimmings and a plate of crispy scampi to keep us fed. Excellent value for money and all the traditions of top class inn-keeping can be found here in the glorious setting that is Farndale.

From our arrival to leaving the welcome and service was great, really lovely and it’s dog friendly, the food was excellent and such good value. Game curry half and half, battered mushrooms were stunning real chips and nice garlic bread, jam sponge and custard , plum and almond frangipani with cream, I did wonder about telling you how lovely it was, incase you all decide to go, as sadly it was quiet, I just don’t understand why, as many of the pubs on the main rd were full, it is slightly off the main rd but only by 5 minutes, but it’s so worth a visit, it’s traditional pub fare, good portions and tasty, we will be back.

We visited this pub a few times by ourselves and again with friends at various times during the week. The meals on each occasion were terrific. The service faultless. There were 6 of us for breakfast on one occasion. The landlady Rachel had to deal with a sick pet 🐶 and Pete was asked to step in. We each ordered full English, eggs all cooked differently. Our food was served hot, with humour and bottomless pots of tea along with some friendly banter. Great pub, terrific views, really nice food, friendly efficient service.

Since 1982 I have been to and eaten in the Feversham Arms many times without a problem. I really looked forward to going there. This time had the most unusual experience I've ever had in a restaurant. There were four of us and we had a bit is a wait for our meals, though we did not mind as we were chatting. When they did arrive I discovered my fish was overcooked. I tried a few mouthfuls as I thought it might get better. It didn't so I mentioned it to the landlady expecting a properly cooked fish. Instead, I was told my fish was ok. I picked out a dry brown fish flake, only to be told the same. The next flake was totally fused to the batter. At that point, she reluctantly offered me my money back, which I accepted. This of course left me with no food, watching while my party finished their meals. By the way, the chips weren't much good either, cold and soggy. Some had black ends. I wasn't annoyed that my fish was overcooked. These things happen and I'm sure it is a rare occurrence, but I was astonished at my treatment. There isn't a good outcome for anyone. I feel that I cannot go back to that pub which is really nice and the beer is well kept and the landlady has lost any future income that I would bring.

What a lovely lunch in the garden today! We arrived soon after noon and there were already quite a few tables seated. Our food was really fresh, delicious and quickly served. We had two ploughmans and a hot beef baguette with gravy and chips. It was so lovely to sit in the garden enjoying the beautiful views, warm sunshine and our cider, spritzer and coke! Service was warm and friendly and so much appreciated on what must have been a very busy day as the garden was full by the time we had eaten... as could be expected on a warm sunny Mothering Sunday and during daffodil season! After lunch we walked along the daffodil trail. This was a beautiful walk, especially so as the daffodils were in their prime, although this would be a lovely walk at any time of year! We have visited this pub before and look forward to visiting again when we are next in the area. Thank you so much for helping to make our day special x

Daffodils everywhere along the river and in St Mary 's Churchyard - beautiful. After a long walk we were looking forward to a lovely lunch. The staff were happy and quite busy. Lots of good things on the menu sounding delicious but I chose a hot sandwich filled with sausages and onions served, with side salad for £6.95. I was very dissapointed to find the roll and totally tasteless sausages cold and served with almost cooked cold onions and a salad that had plenty of raw onions in it which masked the flavour of the rest. I really didn't enjoy eating it at all and wished I'd paid the extra for a Sunday roast. The toilet had a smart loo paper dispenser that was just jammed and could have been inconvenient if not noticed.

After terrible service and experience from a local pub close on Blakey ridge after we walked out we decided to have a drive about and look for a pub. We came across this little gem, lovely warm welcome, nice selection of beer. Excellent with my children and a amazing feel. The beer garden looked good lots of space and my little girl loved the wooden cravings we asked to sit inside and they were more then welcome to accommodate us. We never had food but the menu look excellent, my 3 year old loved the ice cream!! We booked a table for Saturday 12th September to try the food which is locally sourced which is a bonus and I'm sure its going to be amazing.

Came along this pub after the previous one had been too full (should of been our first sign) so came into feversham arms the staff was lovely and very welcoming the place was clean and lovely views. The food came out quickly no long waits but to be honest I was very disappointed with the roast dinner the whole thing was bland and tasteless the veg was over cooked and soaked in water which had gone into the rest of the food. So on my plate I have some soggy veg a pile of mash 3 roast potatoes and one very crispy Yorkshire pudding and some roast beef not the lovely roast dinner I had been looking forward too very disappointed and can see why other locals are as busy when this is the competition. If you are after a drink lovely pub just wouldn’t recommend food at all.

We've often walked past during the daffodil season but never had chance to eat there until now. It was daffodil season but a dull Tuesday afternoon but the pub was really busy, proving just how popular it is. We managed to get a table and ordered Game Pie from the specials board. As we waited for our meal to arrive we were amazed at the size of portions - particularly the ever popular Scampi. On the next table, the lady had just half a portion of Scampi and had trouble ploughing through it. Our Game Pies arrived, filling the large plate. Unusually, under the pastry lid were huge chunks of various game meats rather than layers of ground up meat. Game is usually a little dry after looking but they had allowed for this with a large boat of nice gravy. Veg were Spring Cabbage and Carrots and a choice of chips or mash. The chips were really good with a nice flavour. There were no frills, airs or graces, just good, basic, honest food served with a smile at reasonable prices.Toilet facilities were small and basic but clean and fresh.

If this review was only based on the food then it would rate it 1 or at best 2 stars. The positives were that the staff were friendly, the beer (Black Sheep) was good and there was a nice atmosphere in the pub.We visited one evening and with regard to the meals, I ordered 'slow cooked belly pork' which turned out to be two belly pork strips which were predominantly fat with dry and tough meat. My wife chose the special of rabbit pie and thought the meat was ok but overall unseasoned and lacking flavour. For both meals the vegetables were overcooked and tasteless. For the price paid this was a big disappointment. If large servings rate highly then I can understand why there are 5 star ratings, otherwise not recommended for the food.

Visited over Bank Holiday week-end and althought restaurant was quite busy we had good service and good food. We were a group of 8 aged between 8 months to 86 years old and all of our meals were good. Not one complaint. Staff were very friendly. The clientele were all nice people too and it had a good atmosphere.

We had a lovely Sunday dinner, huge portions, loads of veg and potatoes it was absolutely spot on.The staff were very friendly and efficient - we didn't have to wait long for our meals at all which is a blessing when you have small children.Would definitely recommend and we will be back!

I've been here multiple times when walking up on the moors, but I've only had food once, and all I can say is I need to go more often! We visited for an evening meal and I ordered a chicken dish, can't remember exactly what it was, but it was delicious! I'm glad I ordered some chips too as they are the best I've ever tasted, you can tell they're home made! Amazing food and a cosy atmosphere, what more could you want? Staff are lovely and the setting the pub is in is absolutely beautiful. Well worth a visit if you're in the area!

Having taken the hill route, following the brown sign, we found this hidden treasure. Arrived lunchtime, just a coffee and confirmed dog friendly, being made very welcome by the young man behind the bar. We were invited to look at the menu should we wish to make a return visit.Returned the same evening met by Rachel the owner who not only made us very welcome but also our six and a half month old Leonberger "Soda"There was a very relaxed atmosphere in the bar and locals were more than happy to chat with us which was ;lovely to find in this day and age. We dined on this evening and were so impressed by the food prepared by David the chef we returned on two further evenings. The meals were excellent and more than enough to satisfy the hungriest traveller!!! If you can visit this hidden treasure, but make sure you are hungry. The real ale was excellent, there was Black Sheep Bitter but also a guest beer "Farmers Blonde" which I would recommend. Linda Martyn and Soda

Beautiful Yorkshire Inn in a stunning location. We stayed overnight yesterday and I would highly recommend it. The Inn itself is a cosy, warm Yorkshire Inn with a crackling real fireplace which was as warming as the welcome from both the owners and the locals. The food was delicious and was served up quickly. I had the slow cooked belly pork which was served with black pudding mash and vegetables. Believe me when I say that it tasted every bit as good as it sounds. The portion was very good also and I like my food! An excellent menu and also a good choice of drinks (including local beers) at the bar. The room was very clean and comfortable and we woke up to a family of Housemartins who were nesting outside our window. Plenty of free parking also. Well worth a mention is the great cooked breakfast we were given before we set off for home. We came to the Feversham Arms on a recommendation and I happily pass on that recommendation. Thank you for a lovely visit.

Great food in a neat little garden after a nice walk! The place was packed out for lunch but the wait was worth it! The steak and ale pie was delicious! Good cheese baguette and the Yorkshire pudding with beef and gravy was no light bite!! We struggled on the walk home! If I had one whinge - I like my tea in a pot and not made with a bag in the cup but that's me being picky!!

Stopped here after a long walk so we were very hungry. We soon lost our appetite. My Sunday Beef lunch was a throw back to the 70's. Over cooked tasteless veg, grey strange looking slabs of over fatty meat, luke warm, tasteless gravy. There was so much food on my plate it made me sick to look at it. My husbands was somewhat better but on looking round I realised that unless it came out of the deep fat fryer it was not going to be any good. And we waited an hour for it. Drive on I say. A sad time warp of a pub.Only good thing was boy who served us was lovely and very helpful.

Very quiet for a Saturday evening meal, but it is a bit out of the way.The landlady was very welcoming as was the dinner menu with a good choice on offer and a specials board. We ate in the bar area, as that was where the open fire was, the dining room looked to be large and characterless. The food and drink was good and reasonably priced.

We stayed for one night, the room was a double en suite, would have liked a few toiletries but that's nit picking, the food was excellent and the room was clean and pleasantly decorated . The landlord and landlady made us feel very welcome and we had a lovely nights stay.

We enjoyed a good average pub Sunday lunch here in September at a very reasonable price. The Feversham Arms is particularly well placed for walkers in Farndale and the area generally. The pub was pretty quiet and although lunch was competent, and we were made welcome, there did not seem much spark to things generally. Nevertheless, recommended as a very good mid day objective, and very welcome after a wet and misty trek!

Called in after the daffodil walk. Normally we stop at the Daffy Cafe - always a treat in itself. This time for a change we thought we would have a pub lunch. The welcome was excellent, the beer was top notch, and the food and service was superb. Homemade steak and ale pie was delicious. The pub is smart whilst still traditional in style. Really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it

Went for a day out on the moors with friends and have passed the Feversham in Church Houses but have never been in. On this occasion it was just the right time for Sunday lunch so stop we did.Two of us have the roast beef and two had the steak pie. Four of us were well pleased with what we had.The food was both plentiful and very very tasty, and well cooked. All I can add is that I loved my grandmothers dinners and think that before she passed on she must have sent all her recipes here.Service was good although I bet when it is busy things may take a little longer but it is worth the wait even so.Excellent well done Feversham Arms , will defo be back.

We ordered our food at 8pm. It was only served at 9:20pm. When we asked, at 9pm, what The owners did not apologize; they just said our order was placed after the order or a large party. We pointed out that it may have been helpful to mention the hour-long wait, but they just shrugged us off. It was obvious that they simply forgot about our order because 2 tables who arrived after us were served at least 15 minutes before us. The food when it arrived as satisfactory (nothing to write home about, though) but we were feeling so unwelcome that we couldn't enjoy it.
