Long wait, poor service and terrible food. May have been down to stress of Fringe but poor attitude from staff did not help

Had a great selection of fresh produce. Everything there was top notch. Staff were very nice. Different from the usual commercialised outlet. Always wishing to go back.

Happened upon this cafe on the way to a museum nearby, freshly baked focaccia with pastrami and emmental was wonderful. More of a college vibe, not so touristy which was quite nice. Staff was attentive. Would definitely recommend!

This place is my go to study cafe, pretty much on the daily. With a chilled rustic interior, relaxed vibe and laid-back indie playlist, it’s the perfect place for a catch up or study session. The coffee is rich and chocolatey, the salad bowls are huge and exuberant, and the soup is the hug in a bowl you need on a rainy Edinburgh afternoon… and comes with fresh focaccia :) what more could you want ? ps dogs are welcome 🐾

So good! In Edinburgh from out of town and landed at Fettle for lunch. Such a nice atmosphere - the kind of place you want to invite your friend to meet you for lunch. Best soup (sweet potato, chili, coconut) ever served piping hot. (If I was nearby, I’d be back for the soup every day!) Creative fresh salads with quality ingredients and delicious dressings. Stuffed focaccias look yummy, but instead I opted for a gluten-free brownie, served warm. Coffee, smoothies, cakes, etc. for breakfast look good, too!

This welcoming space was across the street from our hotel. Although service was on the slower side, it was made to order and very good. The restaurant was light and clean and a perfect place for a leisurely breakfast.

We mourn the day our favourite Edinburgh restaurant The Dogs closed. So we thought we'd check out proprietor David Ramsden's new project - a wee wine bar on Bread Street. Dogs, ponies... if you're an animal lover, you're in good company. But it's David's impeccable taste and dogged (!) commitment to quality that earned our loyalty years ago and keeps us coming back for more culinary adventures. The Fat Pony offers a range of truly hand-picked (and handmade) wines, meats and cheeses from around the world. Hand-picked but without the snobbery. There's a lot of choice, so don't be shy to ask for recommendations. The reply may be deadpan, but that's just theatrical bluffing, because this man always gets it right when I challenge him to surprise me! A stylish yet relaxed space, with good music playing in the background. A carafe of wine and a few tapas make for the perfect quick pre-theatre dinner - being just around the corner from the Lyceum, Usher Hall and Traverse. I was a bit embarrassed to ask for coffee after the beautiful Primativo, but David was ready with yet another surprise: great coffee served in the most divine Wedgwood cups! PS: Dogs welcome! PPS: Beautiful toilets!
