My lunch was very poor value, in particular the salad. A very small serving of potato salad, watery Greek salad and 8-9 small mixed leaves cost £7.50. I thought it was coronation chicken but it was tatties ! Had to wait a while at the counter to be served too. Won’t be back.

A light bite at lunchtime before attending the matinee performance of Hamilton, we were pleasantly surprised at the range of reasonably priced delicious sandwiches available. Excellent coffee too. Nice spot to relax before the performance but you will need to be there early as it quicklyfills up.

Lovely food, lovely atmosphere, quiet amidst the city rush and the most genuinely lovely people serving. The museum cafes were busy and hot and frazzled… we are so glad to have found an oasis of calm , and the sandwiches and cakes and coffee were fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were so helpful to another customer with disabilities too without patronising. Honestly can’t fault it at all.. I’m not sure I want to give this review a sit might make it busier! Really, don’t miss this place if you are in the area.

Lovely cafe. Coffee is lovely as is food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. However the seating needs a revamp. The chairs scrap across tiled floor whenever anyone moves and cause such a loud noise which echos around the whole room. If you want a quiet reflective time to enjoy your coffee this is not really the place.

I have been here a few times in recent weeks. My wife keeps dragging me in ... No. Not a hardship. Nice soup, and a toastie. Their hummus is filling and very tasty (My wife tells me to say this. I don't like hummus myself). They also do nice salads (choose from a selection of different types) and frittata. And scones and cakes. Tries thoise on previous visits. So, not a trad 3-course lunch, but nice as a snack after a lunchtime concert just round the corner at the university. The Festival Theatre have taken over the management of the cafe. It's much improved. Thanks folks.

I used to frequent Cafe Truva at the shore a number of years ago and was looking forward to visiting their Lady Lawson street branch on a visit to town. What a disappointment! The ‘panini spice’ that I used to love was a delicious mix of spiced chicken, mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes served with a lovely Turkish-salad meze. Unfortunately there must be profit margins to protect here and the quality of product has been compromised beyond all recognition...bland strips of processed chicken, one piece of sun dried tomato all cooked without seemingly much care. The side salad used to be a real treat served with feta cheese, stuffed vine leaves, tzatziki and cous cous, instead you are now served some chopped lettuce, tomato and cucumber with no dressing.....distressing stuff. I hope they are reading and take these comments into consideration, will not return in a hurry which is a crying shame.

We enjoy eating at Shackleton’s. If you are staying at Channings it is a very easy place to grab a bite to eat. Everyone is nice and we enjoy the food.

Lovely little restaurant in the heart if the city where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch for my Birthday. The food was delicious although I found the portions a little on the small side and there wasn't the usual offering of a complimentary basket of bread you get in most French restaurants. I appreciate that the price of everything has sky rocketed recently so I think this may be why. I had the Roquefort soufflé when was so tasty, although the salad was a little sparse and I finished it in what felt like seconds and had to wait a while for my partner to finish his goats cheese salad. I had the cod with squid stuffed courgette for my main course which was absolutely delicious, although quite a small portion again. My partner had the pheasant which he enjoyed. We didn't opt for dessert but had brandy and coffee which came with a lovely little cake on the side. The staff and who I think must have been the owner were absolutely lovely. Would definitely recommend as the food was delicious, only marking it down as I was still a little hungry after my main course. The bottle of Viognier we ordered was very good and reasonable at £30.
