Festival Food and Drink in Liverpool

Dined here this evening with my wife and 2 kids. We were served by the amazing Rose. The food was gorgeous (fish and chips x 2 and noodles) and drinks hit the spit. We will be back.

I was there 3 days ago and chose due to the extensive gluten free menu. I ordered the GF chicken sandwich - i ended up with food poisoning from it. I am still sick a few days later which put a wrench in my vacation. It seems the food is left out too long or not properly cleaned. I have had this happen before due to lack of proper cleaning or prep standards.

Food was very nice- although maybe a bit expensive for what it was. Service and atmosphere were great, loved the music. Decent selection of vegetarian/vegan options!

Although the food wasn't that great as burger was abit burnt and dry, service was reasonably good and was full so plenty of people come here for a bite to eat with nice bars and music close by

We’ve been in England for a week - London, Market Bosworth and Liverpool for a soccer trip with our son’s soccer team. This is by far the best meal we’ve had all week and the service was just as good as the food. Pro tip - take the Magical Mystery Tour for 15% off your meal here. The best fish and chips I have ever eaten. The battery is crispy and special I think deep fried oil must be changed very regularly to keep the fish and chips golden colour..Very fast service and pleasant service. I would like to thank to the 👨‍🍳.

Atmosphere was good but found we were on a high table with tall bar chairs even though we had booked weeks in advance. The burger was awful, like so many have commented it's so salty and must be the cheapest burger they could sauce. Service wasn't anything great. It's a shame as we were so looking forward to visiting this restaurant. It seems is relies on it's name to get the custom.

I have to say the Service. Jamie was our waitress and she was a pleasure to have. We are from America and we will defiantly use our experience with Jamie to express our time at Liverpool. The cavern is vertically lucky to have a beautiful and friendly person like Jamie.

Came here for our first taste of authentic Scouse after being in the Cavern Club and it was wonderful! Very tasty and warming, perfect for a cold February day.

Great food, but service could be better. I asked for juice without ice, they brought me juice with ice, half a glass of ice. We ordered mushrooms in cream - they didn’t bring it. They reminded them again, but there was no point. So we never saw them.

The soup of the day (carrot and coriander I think) was lovely. The bread nice and fresh... My wife's starter of garlic bread was delicious too... My wife said the burger wasn't the greatest, lacked flavour, was too salty and a bit dry and having looked at it, I'm glad I didn't order it as it looked very average and the patty was very tight which is never a good sign!... My main of fish and chips was mainly fine and the batter excellent... There were nowhere near enough mushy peas (about a table spoon)... Maybe they could swap some chips for more peas which would give the dish much more balance!... My wife's cheesecake was okay, nothing special but the crumb on the plate was very nice and quite unique... My brownies were awful... Dryer than Gandhi's flip-flops and for the first time ever, I left some dessert... I ate it until the ice cream ran out and left the rest as it was like eating cardboard... For me to leave a pudding, it must be bad... I've never done that ever in my life as i will basically normally eat anything sweet... The staff were all lovely but missed out on attentiveness at times and forgot to bring something when asked... Maybe if they spent less time flirting with each other then they would be a little more alert... One barman kept dropping glasses and plates lol... He even dropped his cutlery when going for his dinner so I'm guessing he was new and was nervous... He kept us amused though and hopefully he keeps his job haha as he seemed like a nice lad.... Overall for the money, it wasn't bad... I expected it to be like a tourist trap but it really isn't that far off being a great place to eat, they just need to work on some attention to detail.

Needed more atmosphere the staff were pleasant but felt slightly rushed thru starter and main. Scouse was divine! Maybe slightly overpriced cocktails also.

Dreadful experience ordered rib eye steak never have seen so much fat on a steak before and the waitress was rude and non caring just wanted to stand talking at the counter. Do not recommend this place and the price was astronomical

Beautiful meal. Props to the salt and pepper pork starter! We got the beef burger and chicken burger and both were knock out. Would definitely come again on a Friday night!

Service was lovely, the vibe was great, drinks were good and it was lovely watching the merriment go by on the street outside. Food was subpar, we ordered just something light (garlic bread and calamari) and both were woeful.

We had a slight wait on some our food but the staff were quick to apologize and offer us some complimentary starters. Excellent service from all of the staff there, in particular the manager on the evening (Marco I believe) who did very well dealing with a couple of very drunk customers. The staff definitely make the place.

Very poor. Veggie Scouse was over reduced & gelatinous in texture. Crusty bread was just a catering roll. Sat for over half an hour waiting to be offered dessert menu. Over priced. Staff were indifferent. Disappointing experience.

Straight up the worst fried noodles I've ever had. I lived in Asia for 20 years and have tried most formes of noodles out there but the one I got in the Cavern was on another level. It feels like the chief accidentally poured too much soy sauce, overcooked them, only to find out the noodles taste very bitter as a result, and then went ahead trying to remedy this by adding excessive amount of sugar. The end result was a bowl of noodles without 鍋氣 and was too bitter & sweet at the same time. I can cook better noodles when I was 5.

Very disappointing second visit here Monday, food very Mediocre,. Mash potato was swimming in Oil !!! an something I've never done was send it back, could've got it changed but didn't bother, the Burgers where dry, an we felt so let down ,for the top price you pay here jst not good enough, will never return, pity as staff are lovely & the place looks fab, Food was a let down.. when Chef can't make mash potato says it all really ..

Walked in without a booking and accommodated us straight away. Great service, staff are super friendly without being annoying..food is amazing can recommend the Beef Daube, the best i've tasted, the beef just feel apart. Definitely come back next time we're in Liverpool.

Ok I think we made a mistake by just picking a spot next to the Beatles museum tour we had just done. The inside was cute, I'll give them that, but the food and service was just okay. We ordered guac & chips as an appetizer. Which was a bad idea considering we're Mexican haha... the guac was meh, and the cheese sauce and salsa were strange. Anyway, we were eating it slowly because it wasn't super great but our food was taking long to come out. Nobody had checked on us since ordering. Suddenly i thought, maybe they're waiting for us to finish the appetizer. I pushed the plate aside and sure enough an employee came over to ask if we were ready for the main plate. Haha gosh, we would have stopped eating them long before if i knew they were waiting for us. Most places would just bring your food and let you decide if you want to keep eating your appetizers or mix it in with your main plate. Anyway, our fish was kind of lame. The crisp was ok, although not as light and fluffy as others we tried, the meat didn't have much flavor, and it felt kind of dry. The fries were the same, kind of dry in the middle. We were hungry and we ate it anyway. Then nobody was coming to our table to bill us. And there were only a couple other table with customers. Some of the employees were standing around chatting with each other. I finally went up to one of them to ask if we could pay and she finally brought the card machine to our table. We ended up spending more than an hour in there and about $70 for two fish and chips, appetizer, and a drink. Wouldn't recommend.

The high levels of customer service was one of the best aspects of this place. Although the waitress did not write anything down, the orders were absolutely right. Furthermore, she was able to make proper recommendations. Although it was a Tuesday, the place was very crowded. Watching what was transpiring outside was intriguing as The Cavern Pub is located opposite the resturant. The chicken breast was just lovely. I recommend this place because of the food, the location and the lively atmosphere.

Maddy was the best waitress that has served me in a while. So attentive and has great attention to detail. Couldn’t recommend the cavern more!

The food was excellent! I had the wings and my wife had the roast beef. I’m picky about my wings but those honestly they were some of the best I have ever had. The roast was incredibly tender. Great food and great atmosphere. The service was great too.

Given 3 stars as it’s a lovely place worth a visit as there’s great stuff on the walls and the perfect building for Matthew street and also the staff were friendly however 1. Everyone one who came in had to wait 10 minutes for a table even though there was more than plenty of free tables 2. The wait for the food 3. The main meals were no bigger than the kids menu but twice the price ! I had ‘the ultimate vegan burger ‘ which was no better or worse than a cheapo Wetherspoons burger ! It came with chips ( same size as the kids chips ) . It just wasn’t impressive ! 4. Took ages to pay for the bill too ! There seemed a lot of rushing about in there but such a slow service . What a great place to have a late lunch on a very busy Saturday afternoon. The food was tasty, well cooked and well presented by very friendly staff. Stop using packet sauces at the table. We're not paying for McDonald's and you're selling yourself tout suite! Food food, service the same but a bottle of ketchup isn't a big ask.

Cosy friendly place with a decent menu. Had the beef burger and fish and chips. Both well done ( maybe a tad overdone) and served promptly. The wines by the glass were perfectly quaffable. There's an attention to hospitality which is endearing. Recommended.
