Disappointed is too weak a word. Salmon and scrambled eggs is a pretty simple ensemble to rustle up but unfortunately the chef burnt the eggs and the salmon was well past its use by date. At least they know how to toast bread. Told what appeared to be the manager when she enquired was everything ok and she took plate away without reply. Still paid the bill of course. Won’t be back.

Unfortunately not a very good one I'm afraid. Called in for egg and bacon on toast. Staff attentivenss was great. I cannot fault the customer service. The coffee as you would expect hoiwever the egg and bacon on toast not so good I'm afraid. The fried egg showed all the signs of either being microwaved or flipped so long the yolk had become like rubber. Similraly for the bacon. Cold tasteless and a wierd texture. I ate one sandwich and the whole thing just was not appetising at all so I left the rest. A fried egg should be exactly that. Fried! With a soft yolk that the customer has the privelage of popping. Bacon should be hot, freshly fried and tasteful. This was a microwave special. If a chef can't get a bacon and egg toastie right than people are going to vote with their feet as I did. Just not good at all, I've had better at a catering van! But I know looking at the place and the really positive reviews left of here, that they can do better and have done better so why serve such a mediocre effort? Place looks great but what I had was a let down. Come on Oro. If catering vans can do this on the fly at much cheaper prices you need to ditch the microwave.

Warning a Member of staff with black hair, her attitude was appalling she had a very bad attitude when we was aproched by her and also constantly staring over making me feeling uncomfortable whilst I was with my boyfriend, very disrespectful as she new i was his partner. Shes very bad for the business, it's such a shame with the food being amazing and the other staff, unfortunately I couldn't go back due to that reason. Hopefully she won't be there for long as surely many more people will be complaining.

Food is excellent, prices actually surprised me for such good food & wine!!!! service is great, staff very welcoming and couldn't be more friendly, there's a great selection of teas, coffee ☕️ wines 🍷 & beers, with a really nice and really comfortable atmosphere!!! What's more, there is no rush, no pressure to leave as with some places, just laid back & relaxing!! Easy access for disabled, elderly and families etc..... "Very Highly Recommended"!!!

Always very busy the first time we got a table had to sit outside in the cold (not their fault obviously but when tables cleared up inside we weren’t asked if we wanted to move inside even though it was raining). Food took a while to arrive but was okay flavourwise apart from the fact I had ordered an extra hash brown which they forgot and then brought out and it was still frozen in the middle. We were in a rush at this point so didn’t make a fuss but staff weren’t too attentive anyway so didn’t notice. Unfortunate as I feel it could’ve been much better.

I recently had the opportunity to visit this gem on Smithdown Road - a wonderful family-run cafe that has become my go-to place for brunch! First and foremost, the highlight of this cafe is undoubtedly the food. The ingredients are always fresh and cooked to perfection! I find myself looking forward to each visit, eager to try something new. The decor exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it the ideal spot to unwind and enjoy your food. The friendly staff members are attentive and always greet you with a warm smile, creating an inviting and homey experience. Supporting a family-run business is essential to me, and this cafe makes it effortless to do just that, it adds an extra layer of fulfillment to each visit. It's evident that the owners pour their hearts and souls into this establishment, and that passion shines through in every aspect of the cafe. Whether you're a local resident or a passerby exploring the Smithdown area, I highly recommend visiting. I can't wait to return :)

DISAPPOINTING! Took my kids for lunch as my daughter is called Oro an she wanted to go, as we walked in I was told to take a menu and sit, initially the waitress who took our order was absolutely brilliant. I ordered a burger which was awful, burnt to a crisp and drier than Gandhi's flip flop, the salad, which was one lettuce leaf, one slice of red onion and one slice of tomato was underneath the meat, finally it was covered in mayo (which it didn't say on the menu and i would have asked for it to be left off). I also asked for a seperate portion of chips for the table. My daughter who is 4yr old, wanted beans on toast, when it came out there was one piece of dry toast, a ramekin of microwaved beans and a portion of chips all on the same plate, sent it back as it wasn't right, returned on separate plates but still one piece of dry toast and ramekin of beans. Probably the simplest dish anybody could ask for and it was just wrong. My son ordered a pizza which was OK apart from the amount of flour underneath. I put it down to bad management for letting those orders leave the kitchen and a chef that doesn't know how to make the 2 easiest dishes that could be on a menu! The servers were all very nice tho.

I have travelled to many places and had veggie breakfasts wherever I go and I can quite honestly say that the veggie breakfast at Oro on Smithdown road is one of the worst I have been presented with. Reasons why; Small portion of cold beans, small portion of cold mushrooms, the tomato was so unripe I couldn't get my knife through it, the strange addition of griddled carrot was not pleasant and the avocado was tasteless, and nothing on my plate was hot. So sadly I can't recommend Oro's veggie breakfast, which is a shame because I came here a few years back and the breakfast was exceptional.

Decided, on a whim, to have a nice Italian meal out by myself (after seeing one served in a Mike Leigh film called Another Year last night)..popped into Oro, my fave eatery locally. As usual, the food was to die for! Had Penne Arrabiata with chicken amd parmesan, and asked for the sauce to be thick. Glass of house red and some indulgent choc cake and coffee! Delightful praceful afternoon atmosphere in the place..Erika and Illi on form as usual as excellent hosts. Food was served super quick by kitchen staff on their A game! And total value for money as usual. I utterly enjoyed myself and felt like i was enjoying a delightfully idyllic hour or two at an Italian Trattoria in Milan or Rome or somwhere like that! How sitting down for a simple meal and pleasant surroundings can be tranformed into an experience that does your soul the world of good! Better than a week away in the sun! Excellent. This place just gets better and better and is Smithdown's Best Kept Secret!

Lovely little cafe in the heart of Smithdown road and I am unsure whether its family run or a business chain. However, their food is great and reasonably priced. The hosts make you feel welcome and serve you promptly. Easily the best cafe you will find anywhere and my personal favourite. Been eating there years! The warm friendly welcome you receive by all the helpful staff will make your visit a delight. The food is delicious, always cooked to perfection by the skilled chefs. The coffee is good and hot and strong to quote a famous Sergio Leone Western! You will look forward to repeat visits as the whole place has a wonderful Euro vibe and atmosphere that the owner has brought to Oro from years working in five star restaurants. It's not just a place to eat and enjoy good fresh food but is a vibrant social hub too. All the regulars chat to each other and themselves make new visitors feel like part of the Oro family too, but not overwhelmingly so. Another important factor is how very clean and hygienic the whole place is. And dog friendly too!

ARRIVAL: My first impression was one of confusion (don’t stop reading here because it gets a LOT better) caused by the board menu and the printed menu appearing inconsistent. At first glance they appeared like two completely different menus with different prices. I almost walked out because it wasn’t the kind of day where I had the energy to figure things out. But the owner quickly came over to answer questions and help me understand how they are presenting their menu. There were no price discrepancies after all. The board highlighted lower price options and the menu highlighted the higher price items. I have to admit I felt a little flustered. But given my hunger I stayed and was soon very happy that I did. First impressions are sometimes worth overcoming. And this is such a place. This is a place that once you are settled down you might just feel like this is a second home. MENU: Vegetarian friendly? = yes Vegan options: Non-dairy milks are available. As are vegetarian options. Cakes = Yes, but I didn’t spot my favourites. From the menu I settled on a the vegetarian option: a Pesto, mozzarella and tomato sandwich with a garnish of salad leaves + a soy mocha. I wasn’t entirely sure yet if I would really pay the price on the board or if there would be hidden costs. I paid the price on the board, NO hidden costs. It seemed a little too good to be true; if the price is true then there was little hope for the food. POSITIVE Spoiler alert: The Food: turned out to be a fantastic price value proposition. Quality & Price / Value: My mocha arrived before I quite caught my bearings. Good. What a surprise. My sandwich arrived minutes later: Good, an even greater surprise. My total bill was under £8, for that I received food and drink that satisfied my body and taste buds. The price value relationship at Cafe Pro is excellent. What would the same money get me in San Francisco, where I live most of the year? I can’t claim that this cafe is perfect, it’s got room for smoothing edges. On the other hand: the edges are what make it so relaxing to stay and while away an hour. For the price it can’t be beaten. WHO IS IT FOR? / Clientele : The prices seem like an invitation to the local community, neoighbours, students, anyone who can’t make it to the Egg cage in the city should check out Caffee Oro - maybe not as many veggie options but the vibe is right. This is a place that invites you to be here among people. Students, workers, creative types, neighbourhood Here you can let the soul dangle. SPACE & SOUNDS: Most important to me: It was NOT too noisy when I went. As a sound sensitive person this place fit my needs (I ca't vouch for other days, obviously.) There are different types of seating options, chairs, benches, a sofa.. I found my ideal seat in the best corner of the cafe. Now able to appreciate the space as it is infused with nostalgic, soul soothing music choices of times past. The ambience feels a little like home. It’s a place where you can imagine yourself to be in a movie about your life. Or perhaps it is a stage to observe: The theatre of life. Cafe Oro is a place to bring your journal, a book, a friend or your whole seminar group from university. Come here for a positive experience that you will want to come back to experience again. MOM & CHILD & IMMUNOCOMPROMISED SUITABLE: With its Indoor / Outdoor seating options it is even child friendly and anyone immunocompromised can socialise here without the worry of indoor places. The outdoor seating has a rain cover so even rain won’t need to stop you. Given that the outdoor seating is at the back of the building it is additionally child friendly and additionally relaxing as there won’t be passing car noises, pollution and you don’t have to watch your laptop, in the same way as you might want to street side, in case you come here to do a spot of review writing for a cafe that you feel deserves a good one. LOCATION: SMITHDOWN ROAD, close to Asda & Aldi, take bus 86. If coming from town it will be approximately one stop after the cemetery. The big windows give opportunity to view the world passing by. This isn’t a romantic inner/old city square with cobble stone streets and bohemian flavours passing by. It is a little more down to earth, a little grittier, more working-class but also student-area than that. Intermingled with 1st and 2nd generation immigrants; in fact the place is run by an immigrant and many of the staff seem from around the spanish speaking world. The place is relaxed, down to earth and real. No snobs to be seen. When gazing out of the window I get a sense of country & place, while I sit and daydream softly wrapped in the well-curated soundtrack of tunes and the cafe-operating sounds, The day I cam was a bad day for me personally but a better day for having chanced upon Caffee Oro. FINAL VERDICT: Cafe Oro is a place where you come to experience cafe culture with a bohemian, international flair. You can come here to daydream, or for a quick bite. You can come and write 4 pages of your essay and/or focus on nibbling your way through the menu. At cafe Oro you find evidence that cafe culture is still alive in this little pocket of the world. There is space for your solo self as well as for the community here. Is it perfect? I don’t know, but it is human and human is what I will come back for. I miss cafes like this. Unhurried, calming. Caffee Oro covers the basic needs and isn’t going for flashy design but the eclectic design that you will find here works to create a cozy atmosphere. You can tell that the cafe interior developed over time, these are the best type of places in my opinion. There are nice touches everywhere. It feels a little bit like home. I'll be back and recommend we meet at Caffee Oro.

We had a lovely vegan breakfast. The roasted vegetables were a nice touch. Tastiest carrot I've had in a long time! However, only having butter and no margarine for the vegan breakfast is ignorant. Updated since my last visit: there are a few errors on the menu. The chicken burger doesn't come with cheddar it comes with cheap burger cheese; the apple juice isnt cloudy, it's regular supermarket juice; and the orange juice isn't freshly squeezed as advertised in the menu. Fuethmore the service took forever. We waited about 20 for drinks and had to ask twice for them. Our food finally arrived again, after asking, and waiting 30+ mins.

Really disappointed, poor rude service, and missing food. Ordered the almighty breakfast and it was all cold and less portion size then everyone else's. Had missing mushroom and the bacon was way too salty and partially raw. Barley any beans compared to pictures and just way overpriced for wat it was. The service was absolutely poor and I felt it had to do with them being racist as we were neglected whilst everyone else was being checked on. Furthermore people that came after us had their breakfast served before us despite we came like 30 minutes before. Don't go to this place you will absolutely regret it. The best part was leaving.

not bad but wouldn’t specially come back - mediterranean breakfast was an odd selection of food lacking cohesion and flavour. servers were lovely!

Great pub with loads of charm and character. Fabulous, welcoming staff. Very good selection of drinks and food. Just as importantly, the customers were really friendly. I only recently discovered this place and am already looking forward to taking friends there!

Bad service. Don't need a hot drink slammed on the table from behind without a word spoken, thank you. Or cleaning the table I'm sat at with a spray, again without saying anything.

The choice of real ales was very good. A true character pub. A sure inclusion for a pub crawl around Liverpool City centre.

Lovely breakfast this morning. £10 for a good quality extra large breakfast is great, and the service was fab. It’s good to see a local business seemingly thriving as there were plenty of people in there.
