Ferry Cookham in Windsor and Maidenhead

Good solid pub. Very friendly and helpful staff on New Year’s Day. Were very kind to the children in our group giving them colouring in books. Food is standard for a pub nothing bad at all.

Staff little bit confused and slow.

We booked to come for Christmas lunch and paid just under £100 per person. Unfortunately, the food was very poor, overcooked on the bread/toast, and meat, especially the beef wellington. This was incredibly tough and I struggled to cut it with a standard knife, I wasn't offered a steak knife for the beef. The sprouts were massively undercooked, too hard to put your knife through. The roast potatoes were also undercooked. The food was certainly not worth what we paid. The service was poor. No-one came to check if our meals were ok throughout our whole visit, so we did not have the opportunity to highlight the areas for concern. We had to ask for cutlery as this wasn't replaced after the starters. We waited a long time for drinks, and that order was also incorrect when it arrived. When trying to pay the bill, again, we were not asked if everything had been ok, so was not afforded the opportunity to voice our concerns. As it was Christmas Day, we thought it kinder not to complain to the young individual who presented our bill. To add insult to injury, we were charged the usual service charge, when we actually received no service! Our table was not clean on arrival, nor was the carpet underneath. All in all, a hugely disappointing experience when we'd booked the table for 12pm, a quieter time on arrival, as we had our elderly mother with us. I would not recommend eating The Ferry Christmas dinner again to anyone.

Christmas Lunch at the Ferry was overall good, the bread and starter (scallop thermidor) was excellent, the beef wellington was disappointing though. The potatoes, veg and gravy were lovely but the wellington pastry was soggy and the beef was cooked to medium-well/well done, I don't know why the kitchen decided that, most of the meat was grey and lost a lot of flavour. We weren't asked beforehand how we'd like our beef cooked, and it would've been much nicer to have the wellington cooked to rare or medium rare max. Such a shame. My chocolate bomb dessert was fantastic but my dads poached pear dessert was disappointing, the pear was tiny as well. Not quite the quality we'd expect for £95 a head. So overall good but could've been better.

Had Christmas Day lunch here, it was fabulous - friendly, efficient service, gorgeous food & the perfect festive atmosphere. Thank you to the whole team.

I came here the other day with my family and it was so lovely and amazing the food was so delicious and the atmosphere was very nice a waitress called summer served us she was very polite and kind she was very patient with us and she had a nice conversation with us and we loved every bit of it. We will definitely be coming back the drinks and the food was lovely and thank you to summer she made our night very special

I came here a few weeks ago with my dad when I came to visit him. The waitress: Summer was very helpful and patient with me while I decided what I wanted from the menu. She was clearly happy to be there and not even for less than a second was she not smiling and being enthusiastic. Will be coming to The Ferry again :)

Wonderful place, I came here with my work colleagues for a Christmas get together, the food was cooked to perfection, the atmosphere was brilliant and despite how busy the place was we was served by a young waitress by the name of Summer who handled the pressure of all our demands with such class and you would of thought she had worked there for years, she was very helpful and a credit to the Ferry. We will definitely be returning!

My first time trying Ferry Cookham and I have to say it was amazing. The food was to die for and the service was exceptional in particular my waiter josh who made our dining experience everything we had hoped for!!

An amazing afternoon with My family party of 25 for the festive menu. i can't thank Stacey (manager) and Our main waitress Summer enough for all the service and high spirits on such a busy day for them with the Cookham Christmas fayre under way. as the main organiser for my party, i worked with summer and her team - the food form the festive menu was lovely - tasty and hot and fresh .. the mains were lovely and plentiful in portion size and the desserts went down an absolute treat ! the Ferry kindly gave us "the snug" .. the most perfect little area for us all .. the kids enjoyed the space most of all :) thank-you to the Whole team for making this a most amazing memory for us all :)

Lovely place for some Sunday lunch

Sunday lunch, very disappointing. Burger dry and overcooked, Roasts were missing items, my husband only had one roast potato, order was incorrect when delivered to table. Hadn't been there for quite a while, won't be rushing back 😒

I was visiting some friends I used to go to university with and they took me here; best decision ever! As an American, you only get to eat something like a Sunday roast a handful of times a year. It reminded me of Christmas! Josh was super friendly and nice, and when one of my friends changed their order (twice) he was super understanding and cool about it. The atmosphere was great, the food was great, the people were great. 100% would recommend!!

Really good set lunch menu, gammon steak was delicious. Josh served us and was very attentive and polite.

As a family we have been regular visitors over the last few years on special occasions as its a convenient meeting place. The location is wonderful and service has been good to excellent. The menu is clear and varied and the food is always hot and tasty. Dog friendly and reliable.

We came here for the third time this year, we usually come as a family for events like birthdays, special occasions etc. We were served by multiple people throughout the evening however it was Josh that really stood out to us. I could not recommend a visit enough, the food was incredible as always, and our server was so accommodating, even with the multiple allergies we presented him with.

It is a shame this is limited at 5 stars, for i would give it 10. The food was exceptional, but mine and my families experience was made by the lovely staff, more specifically josh. He was so personable and polite, and really contributed our evening out. thank you josh!

Yesterday I had the lucky opportunity to spend my afternoon in the company of the ferry in Cookham. I don’t usually go out for Sunday roasts and normally cooked them at home but due to the divorce have found it hard to cook for just myself. I thought I’d treat myself to a roast dinner at the local restaurant. Let me just say. I was not disappointed. I usually would cook myself a roast chicken on a Sunday but I am a lover of all meats. So to my surprise I found the perfect array of choice which I decided upon the “trio of roasts”. This option would satisfy all and maybe if i cooked this for my wife she would have even stayed! I was met by a rather attractive waitress called Eva as she carefully explained all the options to me and really made me feel at home and involved with the Sunday roast experience. In the little to no waiting time for my food I gandered at the children’s menu and was surprised to find no roast pork option, I would usually cook this for my children however haven’t been able to due to my wife taking them from me so found this acceptable in my case. The atmosphere was that of which they cared for their customer and their needs. The food was immaculate and paired beautifully with the house red Pinot Noir from which was a recommendation from the waitress. The staff at the ferry put in care and effort into my day which I haven’t felt in a long time due to my divorce. Overall the experience was welcoming and the food was just what you would want for a Sunday roast dinner, while all coming to a reasonable price. I sat enjoying my dinner while having a great view of the Thames which was beautiful unlike my ex-wife. Thank you to the ferry for my food and my stay.

I returned to the ferry this week in hope that the pub was continuing at such a high standard. To say I was blown away is an understatement. On a cold winters evening I was greeted with a warm welcome from my server, Eva. Eva understood the assignment and gave me exceptional service, she couldn’t do enough for me. I enjoyed a succulent meal paired with wine recommended by the all-knowing Eva. As for the atmosphere, could devouring your meal next to a cosy fireplace ever be topped. I shall be disappointed if I return next year and Eva is not running the place. Simply perfect experience.

Visited today at lunchtime. Went with our dog so sat in bar area. Wet day so everyone was inside and it was quite busy. Ordered fish and chips as I like this dish. Fish was very greasy and chips had definitely been heated up as were very brown and hard, not fresh cooked. Has the chef changed by any chance as this was sub par for this restaurant ? Serving girl looked as though she really didn't want to be there. Not impressed.

Service was great, I used to live on the high street in Cookham but have yet moved to Henley but I never really liked the Ferry too much for some reason. But I have to say the service in this place now is class. My server/waiter Josh was a joy, definitely will be coming back to the ferry as it is in a great location but I felt the service was never up to scratch.

We used to love going here. We’ve now been 3 times since and each time have been very disappointed with the food. It’s not like we haven’t tried, always thinking maybe it’s just an off day. But today after our meal it’s set in stone we won’t be joining again sadly. The food especially the mains are very disappointing, The two young boys serving us could not care less that are plates were uneaten. It’s the first time that I’ve left my whole dish :( it was just really not edible, and didn’t taste good. Just wanted to put it out there that for the price it’s not the luxury pub experience that it once was. Sad to say but it’s been that way every time we have dined there in the last year.

Took my fiancee out for a birthday meal. We both had the banana blossom vegan stew at £18.50 each which was slightly less expensive than the roast dinner. While the roast dinner was MASSIVE, the vegan stew was probably the equivalent to the size of a ladle, maybe two at a push. On top was an oily, offence looking banana blossom which looked so meaty I couldn't face it. My fiancee ordered chips but I didn't and so I was starving leaving the restaurant, feeling ripped off and disgusted by the lack of equity in the size and quality of the servings. Will NEVER eat there again. Poor effort. I would have complained but for the fact I didn't want to ruin my fiancee's birthday.

Went here for Sunday roast. It was a great experience from start to finish. The service was good and the food was lovely. To top the experience, they had one of my favourite Sauvignon's 'The Ned' on their wine list. You don't see that very often. Great visit, and I would definitely go back.

Nestled in the beautiful riverside town of Cookham, the Ferry is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a good meal in a stunning setting. That being said, the staff are what makes this place great. In particular Josh, he served us attentively while providing great insights into both the food and drink options available to us! Thank you Josh, you were fantastic and a large part of what made me and my wife’s anniversary lunch so special:)

Pub is in a nice location and has a good atmosphere. We went in the autumn months so it was quiet but I imagine the pub has a good buzz when there is warmer weather! Parking was available when we went but think if we'd gone in summer, we'd have struggled to find parking due to location/views of the river. Food was okay but nothing to shout about. Chips were cold. Staff were lovely but we had about 3 different colleagues come over and ask if the food was okay in the space of 10 minutes, so it seemed a little disorganised. Would visit again but probably just for a drink, rather than food.
