Ferry Cookham in Windsor and Maidenhead

We thought we'd give the Ferry another chance after previous poor experiences here. My wife had booked us a table for my birthday on Saturday night, upon arrival there was no one at the desk for the restaurant, we waited for 5 mins so decided to head for the bar. The bar was being run by one person (unfortunately often the case here) and we had to wait 10 mins whilst the bar man completed the orders for the restaurant tables. After that we asked if we could see the cocktail menu, the bar man said that the menus were all taken and we should try and find one ourselves from one of the occupied tables, which we did. Then he commented that he wasn't very experienced with making them so we should bear with him. As he was contemplating making our order we asked about our table booking, he then spoke to a waitress that had appeared who shouted back to him that she couldn't use the booking computer but would seat us anyway. The bar man then said that we should order our drinks through her instead! The waitress took us to the restaurant and offered us a table at the back of the room opposite the kitchen door. My wife informed her that she'd requested a nice window table in her booking since it was my birthday but she just said there weren't any available. She handed us our menus and left. Unfortunately she'd handed me the wrong menu which was actually for the Sunday roast! 15 mins later and we still hadn't placed any order for food or drink, we'd been on the premises for over 30 mins now and could see we weren't the only frustrated customers so we got up and left! Fortunately we found another pub just down the high street that had a free table and were very welcoming, we had a lovely meal and really enjoyed celebrating my birthday there! I'd avoid the Ferry at all costs until they sort out their service issues, especially if you're planning to celebrate a special occasion there.

We had my sisters 60th at the weekend in The Snug. Staff were fantastic, really well organised. Great barman. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you very much.

Service, Food & Waiting times were brilliant. Tha k you to Caitlin & Moh for serving us so thoroughly.

We ate from the lunchtime set menu which was reasonably priced, and well cooked. I appreciated the mini-dessert which gave me a small dessert and a hot drink in place of a standard sized dessert. The service was good bu a slight negative was that we had to ask for the dessert menu 10/15 minutes after finishing our mains. I would certainly return.

We are regulars at The Ferry especially on a Sunday. Today after a long break I visited the ferry again and it was a superb dinning experience. The new manager is very welcoming and attentive and the food is simply delicious.

Friendly efficient staff, great position by the river

Food is always great here and the atmosphere is warm whether visiting for Sunday lunch or dinner on a Saturday. This evening we were looked after by the lovely Caitlin who was both efficient and friendly :)

Took a friend, his 2 children & our dog to The Ferry for a late lunch. All the staff were helpful & attentive & Caitlin made us all so welcome, she was clearly a dog lover bringing our retriever a water bowl & feeding him treats. The menu was wide, had plenty of options & each of us really enjoyed our choices. Thank you

Amazing food! The staff was really nice and efficient and the restaurant itself looks amazing, very rustic and cosy. If you have a chance, try it out!

Food was so yummy I’ll definitely be back for more! Service was above and beyond, really welcoming staff and a very friendly front of house. Sitting outside in front of the river is relaxing and really good vibes. I highly recommend!

Me and my sister on 16th Dec had the Festive Menu , We stayed downstairs, I had Spiced carrot & coriander soup to start, It was lovely, I then had the Turkey Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings, The turkey was so beautiful and soft and the veg and potatoes were excellent, I Finnished with Christmas pudding with brandy cream, Delightful.. My sister had for dessert cheesecake but with a twist..The Festive Meal is £33 per person (Dec 2023 prices) .. The staff were fantastic, Caitlin, Yuli plus jaymi were so helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere is great, Very relaxed , With great views towards the Thames.. Definitely will be back again..

Me and friends had a great dinner this Saturday and waitresses are very nice and always checked on us to see if all good, especially Jaymi and Caitlin. Foid was great and it is beautiful place well decorated for Christmas.

The service was great and food is very good. It is on the expensive side for pub grub, and the wine prices are almost eye watering. However, a very nice evening. Will definitely go back.

Went for a work Christmas party and I can not fault this venue. Friends, happy and helpful staff, lovely location and the food was wonderful. Will definitely be back

Great meal, lovely atmosphere and excellent service (even with me being a picky eater with allergies etc) our server Debbey was excellent at answering questions and checking with the chefs so I felt at ease with everything I ordered. I was served by a young girl called Debbey was was very friendly, approachable and professional. She was every prompt and make sure we had everything we needed and checked in several times. She kept everything clean and tidy and the atmosphere as a whole was clean, tidy and inviting. It was my first time there I would definitely come back due to my service.

Recommended by friends to visit. Fantastic warm atmosphere no matter what level you sit on. Staff are so friendly, professional, and relaxed, which adds to the overall experience. Food cooked to perfection, and the presentation does not disappoint. The menu has a good choice to suit everyone. There is a car park. You will not be disappointed!

My experience at the ferry was fantastic. The pub was really busy but they still managed to fit me in for a table, couldn’t believe it to be honest. Harry and Yuli gave me such a warm welcome and their service was phenomenal. Lovely wine selection that went down a treat. Great pub and superb staff. Will be coming back.

Would recommend and will be back. We were served by Holly who was great. It was my birthday and the Chef did a little birthday cake surprise. So sweet. Good menu with lots of choice. It's just by the bridge at Cookham. Easy parking.

I was in the ferry today and had a waitress called debbey and she was lovely and did great, it had amazing atmosphere and they was all very quick on their feet and ensured the food was okay and to my preference I really recommend visiting the ferry yourself.

Extremely disappointing 24 October 2023 revisit to The Ferry. The Cookham Bridge is closed for 6 months adversely effecting customer footfall and so you would have expected the manager and staff to be doing everything possible to retain and attract new customers - the reverse was true. The restaurant was freezing cold as was the welcome and hospitality. The food was of average quality and was not good value for money. The only saving grace was the friendly and helpful South African (did not get her name) waitress we had. We will not be returning.

Had lunch here yesterday (Tuesday) and was served by Holly. The food was lovely. I'm vegetarian and the lunch menu offered good options and good value. Holly was lovely, friendly and attentive. My sister has a disability and everything was made very easy for her to use her walking frame. However, as is becoming more common in restaurants, the accessible toilet was locked and requires you to ask at the bar for the key. Please understand this is embarrassing and undignified for a disabled person.

Sat by the window for dinner on Friday. Our waitress Jaymi was very friendly and attentive. Will be coming back with friends!!
