Ferris in East Ayrshire

Got a carry out tonight. waited 20 minutes to receive my order but didn’t mind as they seemed to be making everything fresh ! Got home to open the sausage suppers, the chips consisted of pieces of chips and chip ends all squashed together, not one single chip could be identified, just a congealed mass of stuck together bit of chips . For £12.80 terrible food. The plates that were being filled up for the sit in customers had lovely looking fresh chips, so not sure why ours were so bad…disappointing .

My Wife and I just fancied a wee fish tea so where else in Kilmarnock do we head to Ferris it’s been the same level of perfection for years the staff are friendly and the cafe is always clean and tidy I think about 6or 7 tables Quick service that’s what you need if your in a hurry oot of tea came first then bread then this huge plate of Fish n chips peas and of course tartare sauce I had the cheek to ask for tomato ha ha anyway scoffed the lot it was Amazing fish crispy and great chips Ferris is more than just a cafe it’s just Brilliant 10/10

I'm from the US & visiting my family, Ferri's is their fish dinner favorite place so 7 of us went for dinner I had the large fish and chips & a mince roll. Absolutely fantastic! The staff were really nice too. I enjoyed the meal so much we ordered it another night as a pick up order & ate it at home. A meal I really miss since I've been back home.

Bought a deluxe fish supper from here, chips were undercooked, and fish was overcooked - huge disappointment! You need a new fryer!!!!!! Won't be hurrying back which is a shame!

Best fish & chips in Kilmarnock. Phone in the order , pick a time & pick up after paying. No delay. Great fish , mushy peas & onion rings. Always nice staff. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been ordering from Ferris for a number of years and never have been disappointed. The fish supper I highly recommend nice and crispy and the chips are delicious.I would highly recommend.

I have been getting fish and chips delivered once a week for a while now from Ferri's, they are usually very good, today l thou l have a change and have a hamburger, big mistake! It was pink all the way thro inside batter, comp raw, never again, they just lost a customer!

Ordered online arrived half hour early wasnt quite ready for it just in the door. Requested lots of vinegar on order as didn't have any in house none on it very disappointing as fish supper was lovely but could have been great if it had vinegar on it. I know it's a bit petty but it makes my fish supper. Disappointing sausage very dried up batter tough and difficult for my elderly mother to bite through and again NO VINEGAR. I would order here again though I would phone and check they have requests and ensure sausages were freshly cooked.

The woman manager here is not doing her job and running this business down She is argumentive and not customer orientated one bit..I recieved food that was absolutely full of grease Phone up and the attitude she has is terrible I will not be ordering again I would not recommend these people as I wasted a considerable amoumt of money here Disgusting service

Everything is freshly made so be prepared to wait 5 minutes after ordering parking about 200yards along the road so no problems.fish tea consists of plate of fish and chips ,pot of tea(2cups)slice of bread and butter

They do a menu where you can have a box meal where you have a slice of fish,sausage, half a pizza, 2 black pudding fritter, chips and cheese and curry sauce for £8.50 great value for money

This is, without doubt, the BEST fish supper I have EVER tasted. It was so good that we have had one three consecutive Fridays and they have ALL been EXCELLENT.

We have been ordering food from Ferris in Kilmarnock for quiet along time However the past few months had had orders wrong etc The latest issue was I phoned in at 5 pm and was told the driver wouldnt be in until 530 Waited and phoned in at 630 to check the progress of the order and was told it be at least another half hour I asked to speak to the manager whom was a woman Reply i am the manager we told everyone driver was in at 530 No apology So I have been ordering food for a number of years here Never again Disgusting treatment

Used to come here a lot as a child and loved it. Recently brought my daughter and niece and nephew and although they were happy with the ice cream, I didn’t feel the staff were very friendly at all.

We go here quite a lot for lunch or a snack. The have a good variety of food at very good prices. They also do special priced meals for senior citizens & children.

The Deluxe Fish Supper is the best in town, I used to always go to the Bonnyton Cafe, now drive the extra mile to Ferris and have never been disappointed! Everything is cooked fresh, staff are always very pleasant and it's excellent value for money!

This is without doubt one of the best fish and chip shops/cafe I have ever been to, and believe me, I've been to a few. The fish is excellent, batter just right, and the chips are always piping hot. I always have a fish tea, pot of tea is good and bread and butter just right. It's a simple enough meal, but to get it right is often hard for some, and to be as consistent as this is laudable. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the premises clean. Thanks, everyone.

Been here many times over the years came in 28th with family all enjoyed their meals first time they sat in foods plenty of choice on the menu food is always fresh also have a selection of ice creams and sweets in offer and also the surroundings is clean and tidy staff always pleasant.

I popped into the Ferris , for a quick bite to eat, I had a traditional fish & chips & a can of diet coke , the food most succulent mmm. Unfortunately on this occasion it was very quiet, interior bright and clean , and price effective.

Ferris has always been a favourite since I was at school always visited every Friday night going to the boys brigade for chips I still visit for a great fish and chips which are made fresh good menu to pick from and delicious ice cream

Nice fish and chips and do lunchtime specials, you can also sit in and enjoy your meal. Give it a go down at the bottom of the town

Popped in late afternoon, for a bite to eat, I ordered fish & chips & a small scrambled egg, & was not disappointed , food was most succulent, no complaints. The interior of the cafe was well lit ornate and ostentatious. The toilet is a little awkward as you have to go through the kitchen to reach it, then hard left. A great we cafe I highly recommend.

Great tea for a very cheap price. Enjoyed a fish tea, bread and butter, pot of tea all for £5.00. Lots of choice on the menu at a reasonable price.

My husband & I go in every week for a small dressed fish tea. With it is bread & butter tea or coffee. The cost is £4 90. Amazing value for money. Keep up the deals they are superb just like the taste.

Ferris has just got a lot better now they have a new Very Experienced Fish Fryer and the difference is amazing the fish tastes very good the batter is crisp so i Love Ferris 10/10

A nostalgic and warm atmospheric cafe, bright well - lit with amicable staff on call. I ordered my usual favorite breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast @ beans with diet coke to wash it down, mmm delicious. I then had a chocolate sundae drink, to cool me down , as weather was sweltering hot outside. Bon appetit.

My mum and I came in on Thursday night 17/05. Fish tea was great and a nice friendly atmosphere from the staff. I highly recommend their Nutella Milkshake.

Have been here many times to eat. I love there chips & soup though the majority of menu is good. It is very cheap & has a lot of meal offers.

Located on Titchfield St , the Ferris Cafe with annexing fish and chip shop sits quiet and unassuming. There I was greeted with amicable staff , within a well - lit, and extremely clean premises, I opted for a scottish breakfast, egg , beans ( piping hot ) @ toast, with a diet coke, no complaints, most succulent , and palatable, I concluded with an Americano coffee, very hot and tasty and all very reasonably priced . The cafe also sells a plethora of ice-cream and retro confectionery in large glass jars . I look forward to visiting again.

This is in some ways a fish and chip shop, but it has worked hard to look a bit better than that. There are some tables which are set nicely and a menu with a variety of things on it, not just fish, pies and sausages, although you can get them too. I had noticed that they did a pensioners' special offer of either fish and chips, mince and chips or scampi and chips, so I went for the mince, and it was very acceptable. The chips certainly tasted like they came from a real chipper. They have a good selection of ice cream as well. I liked it.

This is one of the most long standing establishment in Kilmarnock so I cant be wrong in saying they're simply the best !!

Absolutely first class, staff are always friendly and can't do enough for you. Food awesome too👍. We were here tonight as we go there regular , cannot fault it in any way. Ice-cream is awesome too. Highly recommend this wee Café.

Durante el día, y decidimos que padecen hambre. No quiere visitar el restaurante y se acordaban de Ferris antiguo estableció un restaurante. Como era de 5:00 no nos aseguró que estaba abierto, pero fui a probarlo. El "salón de té" está abierto hasta las 7. 30:00 y está recién decorado. Una sonriente bienvenida tomó o para 1 peces grandes y 1 pequeñas patatas fritas y pescado y patatas fritas, ambos con té, pan y mantequilla.

Called here on our way home for a Fish and chip takeaway, as they had been recommended to us by a friend. We were not disappointed, the fish was fresh, white and succulent with a lovely golden crisp batter.

Cant beat this place for ice cream. Lots of flavours to try and enjoy. My kids love it and try different ones each time. I always go for the vanilla. Cant beat it. Truly fantastic creamy ice cream. Great customer service too!

Nipped in for a bite of lunch, chicken & rice soup, cheese & ham toasty and coffee were absolutely delicious, also bought a couple of bags of sweets all for £6.50Got to be the best value for money in Kilmarnock, the place was spotless and the waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Fantastic black pudding and chips. The tablet ice cream is a must. Used to visit this cafe as a child over 40 years ago and it's still the same.nmy favourite place when I come to Kilmarnock. If you love chips, red cola, frying pan lollies and lucky tatties then this is the place for you.

This chippy has been owned and run by the same family for generations and is old school, great food and friendly service, ideal location in middle of town centre with easy access to all small outlying towns, it also has dinning area and delivery service.

We came across this little fish and chip café during our first visit to Kilmarnock. It is a short walk from the town centre but well worth it. The food is freshly cooked and reasonably priced.

I really enjoy eating here.The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. I suffered tonsillitis and when I got better I finally got an appetite and this is where I went. I wasn't disappointed. The food is remarkably fresh. The staff are very helpful as well. I will be back. Keep up the hard work.

Ferris is ideal for both sit in or take away. Freshly cooked fish and chips served with bread and butter and tea. A great place to drop into when you can't be bothered going home to cook, great choices and great service, a solid favourite of mine, I'll be back!

Another great Fish & Chip shop, been in Kilmarnock for years. Famous for their Ice Cream also, staff are very pleasant.

We sat at home after day trip wondering what we could have for dinner. It was a no-brainer to take orders for the best Take-Away Chippy in Kilmarnock. It's a very small place with very little room to have a seating area so a take-out is the best plan here. All kinds of local food including a deep fried Mars Bar if thats what you're craving! Awesome. ...and don't forget the mushy peas!

We eat here on a regular basis when out and about at the weekend . I love there chiips and they have a very varied menu. It's not expensive at all and they pile your plate high. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Busy Friday in Kilmarnock and choices were severely limited so we decided that we would give Ferris a go, we were not disappointed. We decided to 'sit in' and although the seated area has seen better days we were well attended to and the food was fresh and delicious. The staff were pleasant and helpful and there is a good range on the menu, including mince and macaroni. We would certainly return!

This shop is always busy which is a great sign, the menu has a lot of variety and all freshly cooked.Portion sizes are very good and is great value for money, their every day special is a must haveKeep up the good work folks

We took our team here after emptying my late Aunt's house. I had the small fish tea, the others had the normal size. I watched as they struggled to finish it.Freshly cooked and well served by polite friendly staff, this is good value for money

Ferris is a typical chippy and cooks everything fresh to order. The £4 fish supper can easily feed two the portion of fish is such good value. The only gripe I have is that the chips seem a bit undercooked sometimes, but that might just be me or the potatoes or the fat they use. The cafe next door is also a nice place for a fish tea. The staff are friendly and efficient. They also do a useful home delivery service.

No sit-in dining just take away the golden nosh and enjoy! Battered Mars bars if you dare....well, the batter is handy, get anything battered that you like!

Ferris has been in Kilmarnock has been there for as long as I can remember. It is a traditional chip shop offering the usual variety of foodstuffs. The eating area is basic but clean, the staff are excellent and they do an excellent fish supper for only £4 over a weekend. Carry out and delivery is also available.One of the best chippies in the town.

Have used this Chippy on a few occasions since moving to Kilmarnock last year...Food is always cooked to order so you know it hasnt been lying about all day...Nice and fresh...Girls that work their are very pleasant...I love their chilli sausage supper...2 large sausages with a little kick to them...Have not tried their cafe next door but theres always someone in there...They offer a fish supper for £4 all weekend...sit in or take away...Great value...Would recommend...

I live in the town and occasionally use this chip shop cafe. It is a traditional 1970's cafe with a chip shop carry-out annex, so don't expect a restaurant with trained serving staff, On the other hand it is good at what it does at a reasonable price. They do fish and chips for £4 at the weekends. I suspect this may be the cheapest in Ayrshire. From recollection it is about £6 during the week but same portion size.It is like a step back in time with the array of traditional sweets in jars plus hand made flavoured ice creams. Ideal for nostalgic parents/grandparents plus ,of course, their children/grandchildren. The confectionery items are a little bit pricey but to be expected. I have always been satisfied with portions sizes, quality and price.If you regularly take young ones to McDonald's, this cafe is next door and would be worth a visit....... if only for the experience. At least your children or grandchildren will then be able to identify with some of your descriptions of childhood.

Went in for fish chips carry out unfortunately the above were Luke warm and chips very white my husband bought ice cream and the two flavours were really tasty pity about hot food hopefully a one off

Visited here for two fish suppers and at £4 a pop I will definitely be back. Huge portion and very tasty fish. I also noticed when I was in they also do a lunch menu, which for approx. £2.95 you can get a small fish and chips with a can. The fish is massive so one would be more than enough, especially at lunch time. We also returned later to sample the ice creams on offer and although not as great of selection as the forum down the road, I believe it is slightly cheaper and my favourite mint choc chip was superb so I will return. Beats the nearby McDonalds anyday!!

food cooked to order with good size portions. great fish supper deal at weekends and portions not any smaller than normal.never sat in for any food but there is always someone in there.home delivery available which is not normal for fish and chip takeaway.
