Amazing food every time we have been. Local seasonal produce. Better food than some Michelin star restaurants. Friendly staff and great service

Fantastic hidden gem with a great food menu and great food. Made better by friendly helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere in delightful setting. Minor point - music Ned’s to match the restaurant ambiance.

Spent a lovely evening at Ferguson on Friday including drinks at the bar and three delicious tasting plates of the most amazing food: pressed duck and potato terrine - perfectly soft potatoes layered with crispy duck, handmade scotch egg with caramelised onion mayo and a super tast salad with the most amazing dressing and pickled red onion. Just the perfect amount but I had to make room for dessert - the lemon meringue was delightful. My brother had the ribeye with the most amazing chips and sauce - yes I had to nick one and have a dip! The restaurant itself has a cool, relaxed vibe. The staff are warm, friendly and attentive. If you live in Strathaven it really is a little gem right on your doorstep.

We were in tonight with friends for the first time. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Food was absolutely amazing, I had the Terrine followed by the pan seared duck leg, I can honestly say my main course was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire life! The mille feuille potato was absolutely exquisite!! I cannot wait to return!! 20 out of 10. Keep up the incredible work!!

Just opened and been twice now. First hubby and I tried the Sunday lunch (great value and very well done) and now 6 of us dined here on a Saturday night. Food is fantastic. All 6 diners had clean plates every course! Perfect portion sizes, great ingredients, well plated to be very appealing. lovely small menu with enough different choices to meet different tastes but not so much the kitchen would struggle to do each well and not just run of the mill but a note of difference which entices you to try with a nice choice of wines. Group had Poached haddock rarebit and a posh scotch egg starters and a selection of mains - venison, lamb and fish and attention to detain not just on the star of the dish but throughout - sis in law announced accompanying carrots best carrots she has ever eaten!. Room is a little stark (white walls and only a little artwork) but I’m sure this will be softened up in time. Great addition to our town and food is just delicious.

Was over from Northern Ireland visiting friends who live in the nearby area last week, the food was absolutely beautiful and the two ladies who run the business couldn’t have been any nicer, friendly atmosphere, great service and amazing food. The menu had lots to offer. I went for the ‘Salt & Chilli Chicken’ and it was absolutely delicious and the Caramel Apple Pie was phenomenal! We all will definitely be back on our next visit over, thanks again everyone 😊

The restaurant is located in Biggar High Street, where there is parking on-street in the locality for those driving, however we’re fortunate enough to live within reasonable walking distance. It’s closed on Monday & Tuesdays but otherwise open for lunch and dinner. The menu usually has half a dozen starters and desserts with around eight mains courses to choose from and these all feature fairly frequent changes. Currently the cost of a three course meal is £31.95 per head which represents a modest saving on the individual course prices. Supplements apply to some dishes which can increase the cost marginally but on the upside there are also discounted deals, such as “Steak Night” on a Thursday where you can get a starter and a steak for £25. To give some idea of what food is offered, on our last couple of visits we had Thai Fish Cakes with lemon mayo, Warm Bacon, Black Pudding & Potato Salad, Chicken Liver Pate with oatcakes and a Mushroom, Brie & Thyme Tart as starters. For mains we’ve had Haddock wrapped in Parma Ham, Breast of Chicken in Drambuie Sauce, Parsley & Hazelnut Crusted Cod, and Ballotine of Chicken & Haggis with a whisky sauce (as an alternative to peppercorn) all served with a selection of potatoes and vegetables. For desserts we both had the Cherry Bakewell Tart with Amaretto Custard on one occasion, an Apple & Blueberry Crumble Tart with custard and a Baileys & Strawberry Cheesecake with Chantilly Cream and fresh berries on another visit. Generally speaking the food is very good with only an occasional slight disappointment when for example a flavour mentioned on the menu isn‘t particularly noticeable in the dish itself - the Amaretto was subtle to the extent we couldn’t taste it in the custard for instance. Drinks are typically priced for a restaurant - e.g. we had a bottle of wine at £32 on one of the visits, a glass of Sauvignon is £5.25, and a G&T £4.75. Service is friendly, mannerly and efficient in our experience. On the past couple of visits it was busy and there was a good ambiance in the main restaurant with some guests being directed to the upstairs section on one occasion. Our only gripe is that the seats are not all re-upholstered and if you get one which hasn’t been "padded-out" in recent times it can get quite uncomfortable sitting for too long which is not ideal. Toilets are well maintained.
