Fenchurch in City of London, Westminster

Had a nice dinner with their tasting menu for our anniversary. Service was excellent from start to the end. The pace of the dishes was just nice. The staff also explained the dish when it was served. Some dishes required the staff to make preparation on the spot such as pouring the puree or light some smoke etc. And the staff executed them perfectly to make them visually appealing and interesting too. I cannot recommend what dish was the best as almost all of them were either a 9 or a 10. And I supposed the menu is seasonal too. It was also a nice gesture for the restaurant to give us a complimentary anniversary cake fr our little celebrations.

We came here for a 50th birthday, Lots of issues with booking as initially we were booked for seven and then needed to change it to 8 They then give me a few hours notice to get everyone’s pre-order in and a deposit on a working day 3 days before the event. ( obviously most of the people coming were at work so unable to pre-order) this meant we had to go down to 7 people. The best bit is access to the sky Garden. The restaurant itself is quite nice as it’s on the top floor. The food not great for this type of establishment. Very poor choice for vegetarians ( basically one choice). Worst thing was that they didn’t inform us, but all the deserts bar two had beef gelatin! Also absolutely, no mention or nothing special made of the fact that we were there for a 50th birthday despite mentioning it verbally and in writing several times in booking. Very disappointed.

You pay the location, but for the price the food is the worst I ever had. Too much spicy and a lot of sauces. There is also another problem, I nave seen my face reflected in the windows and not the view outside. They need to make something for the lights.

Amazing dinner and food. Our server Emma was so lovely and explained the dishes really well and engaged very well with our table. She was very professional. As for the food it was very good.

This was an all around excellent experience. Perhaps slightly short of a true fine dining experience mainly because of the theme park environment that surrounds Fenchurch, which is Sky Garden. Nothing Fenchurch can control. I did the tasting menu and highly recommend the cocktail pairing. While the food was on point, very good, at moments exceptional - the cocktails were the most adventurous part of the experience for me. Emma, my server, was a delight, who unobtrusively made personal connections with all of her diners. Every member of staff I encountered were polite, engaging and accommodating.

Very enjoyable lunch indeed, with a table by the window. The views from the whole Sky Garden area are, or course, wonderful. The food was cooked and presented to a very high standard, and the service was attentive thoughout. Highly recommended. One of the waitresses, a young Ukrainian girl called Liza, was especially warm and freiendly, which enhanced our experience still further.

This was our second visit but this time we went in the evening and had the tasting menu. Wow ! Such good food with a Caribbean twist. Special thanks to the sommelier who adjusted my wine flight to just include white wines. Food and drink were perfect. Excellent staff.

Things got off to a disappointing start when we were told that the Set Lunch menu was not available because “it's Valentine week”. Valentine Week? Really? This was not mentioned at the time of reserving the table. This is not a cheap restaurant and the a la carte menu could have proved an embarrassment for some folks. The front of house staff are superb. Friendly and efficient. Shame that they were let down by the slowness of the kitchen. This was apparently due to them having a large party to cater for. And that's my problem why?? When it finally arrived the food was very good, not memorable but certainly very tasty - as it should be at these prices. Obviously the views are unique which all adds to the experience.

We had a tasting menu in the afternoon today. The reception was very good and the restaurant has a great atmosphere and out of the noisy sky garden area. Staff is very helpful and professional. We were fortunate to have Greta as our host. The cocktails are perfect, the food was even better. The price is well worth it in terms of what they all deliver. If you are visiting London and you are a foody or just like fine dining, please take the time to experience a tasting menu at Fenchurch restaurant. Thanks for a great memory, we will be back in a few months when the menu has changed.

Came in for dinner and had an amazing time. The restaurant is beautiful with a breathtaking view of the city and all staff was very welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful lunch here. The presentation of the food is wonderful and then is matched by the taste. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We were a party of three and each had a different starter, main and dessert and we each loved our choices. The restaurant also has a nice ambience which I think is important as part of the whole package. I had invited 2 friends and thanks to the Fenchurch Restaurant I think I have been upgraded to best friend !

The food at Fenchurch is really outstanding, and the service is professional and welcoming; I can see how it could be top-notch on another occasion perhaps. But sadly for us it was a frustrating experience with woeful timings that left us unable to actually complete the tasting menu - at times we had either wo drinks on the table, or no drinks, or the wine pairing without the food to pair it with. I am aware we certainly had a language confusion at the start that led us to order an aperitif, when a "welcome drink" was already included in the tasting menu. That sadly caused a 10 minute lag and a mix-up over the first course that led us to have to return the soup until we were finished with the unnecessary aperitif plus welcome drink (one too many!), but once that was ironed out I am unclear why there were such significant issues between the kitchen and sommelier? We ended up having to leave without dessert, late for our show at Southwark Cathedral. They obviously couldn't charge for the full tasting menu (since we were unable to have it) and they removed service, so I appreciate they realised that the experience was not what it should have been. However it was so frustrating that, beyond the first course, I didn't actually enjoy any of it. I was either looking around to see if we would receive the course to go with the wine we'd been sipping for over 10 minutes, or trying to drink the previous wine quickly while the food for the next pairing sat in front of me, getting cold. Extremely disappointed that would should have been a seamless and delicious experience, became waiting time versus rushing, and nothing in between. I love a tasting menu because I give up control to the chef and the servers, but that can only be comfortable when you feel you are in good hands. In this instance I did not, which was a great shame for us, but also because the greeters, waiters, sommerliers and chefs clearly care deeply about their food and their service. As a designer and lover of atmosphere as much as food, I must also point out that placing numerous Xmas branches that obscure the incredible view (I had one actually covering St. Paul's!) is a bizarre choice, as is having half the lamps dark with broken bulbs; I would expect more attention to detail at this level. The Sky Garden itself was a mess of empty glasses and rubbish, tacky bits of broken fencing around faux Xmas decor, red and gold baubles jarring against the pink neon, and the garden (the stand out part) had virtually no illumination at all. I am not sure who is quality controlling the Sky Garden, but when you have such a fabulous space, why would you detract from it rather than enhance it? All in all very disappointing.

Truly fantastic and unique experience. The venue is is incredibly special, matched only by the attentive service and delicious food. The drinks were particularly crisp, strong, and precise. We loved the arancini, salmon coronets, ceviche, sea bass, gnocchi, and dauphinois. Each dessert was delightful. Really a perfect meal, among the best places we have eaten in the world.
