Really enjoyed a top evening here with a few friends. Good food nd good company can't go wrong. Was just visiting one off with few mates

Been this evening for food as heard the kitchen had re-opened. Can honestly say that was the best meal had in a long time. Staff were lovely and helpful the minute we walked in. Chicken tender starters were on point, loved them that much had the loaded fries with chicken tenders bacon pieces and cheese with buffalo sauce portions were handsome. Partner had rack of ribs wasn’t any meat left on the bone. Thank you to staff and the chef well done! Will definitely be back and will be highly recommending

Food was very tasty and very hot. We both had the roast half chicken and there was plenty of it and the chips had a very good taste to them. The waffle I had was to die for. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

Turned up Sunday lunch and immediately worried it was dead (one other table booked). Given the fairly.small normal menu and, when asked about Sunday Roasts (website shows 5-6 options) was told they were only doing roast chicken. Not a great start and when it arrived it was poor. "Thin" base pizza wasn't. Half a chicken was a half too much, fish and chips average and steak pie looked like it had been picked up in the local supermarket!! Sorry can't be more positive but if they had it right this place would be busy!! And it's not. Serving Moretti a positive.

We used to go pretty regularly going back 5+ years, always busy, great staff, wide choices of standard & special menus. We got there around 5:30, there till 7pm. 6 others came in during that time? The lady in charge was welcoming. No meat or cheese pie, no chicken. We shared an uninspiring garlic mushrooms starter. Wife had a curry dish & quite liked it, my fish & chips was underwhelming! Chips seemed over cooked & fish under - no crispy bits on batter. Peas fairly cold! I ate the white fish, tried a few chips & some peas. Left 70+% of it? Had a chunk of cheesecake to share. Ltd wine choice. I think this is a chain pub. We used to love going. It needs to buck up!

Family visit after a walk in Balderstone. Met up with daughters, their partners and four grandchildren all under 7. Jenny looked after us all so well, chocolates for the kids and brought over Jenga for them to play with. Meals for the children were really good and service was as well. Would definitely recommend - thank you.

Disappointed really Disappointed. Rock hard stuffing, watery gravy and a completely raw pastry tart. I wouldnt have minded if I'd have received an apology. But I got no apology at all and they happily took a healthy tip. Personally having worked in hospitality I would have offered the overpayment back and let the customer decide how much tip was given. Doors locked upon arrival loved standing in the rain was only 10 minutes early for the meal. Just a really bad experience we won't be going back.

After reading the reviews regarding Sunday Lunch being the Best Around we were more than disappointed . Unfortunately not happy with the overall experience .. the waiting for over 3/4 hour to be served our main course when no one else was eating and hardly any customers .. no excuse for that at all …. The food seemed microwaved to warm up the meat and over cooked roasts … to top it all food served was not hot yet had to wait for the cutlery for over 5minutes so food was cold by the time we finally got to eat .. it’s a pity really as food critics the reviews we’ve read do not correspond with our experience

Attentive polite and friendly staff who are genuinely interested in their customers. Varied menu. The roast beef was delicious and equally the roast turkey. Highly recommend trying now it's under new management. Locally sourced meat from their farm.

This pub has had a poor reputation over the past few years, but we’ve now been twice for drinks and once for a meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. Good menu, well prepared, friendly and helpful staff, and (at last) decent wine! It’s going to take a little time to build up custom, but it’s well worth a visit. This place is a great asset to the village and will hopefully continue to increase its standing.

We stopped here on our way home from the Forest of Bowland. The welcome was warm, they were dog friendly and the food was amazing. The chef, Gino, took our food order and served us personally and even had time for a chat. The bar staff were equally as friendly and we would highly recommend this place. Fritelle napoletane highly recommended.

We visited this lovely establishment today and had a beautiful lunch ,the staff was very courteous and very kind ,the waitress Faith gave us a first class service and the food was delicious. We will certainly be back we highly recommend this lovely country pub which was so cosy with the coal fires burning it was lovely Thank you to all the staff for making our day

This is the first time we have been to this pub for a meal but I can say the staff are really friendly (they checked several times that everything was OK, asked if we had enough drinks etc and even brought the kids meal out quickly as we had a hungry 23 month old), the food is really good and it is excellent value for money. We definitely plan to go back there again to eat.

The staff was attentive and recommend choices the chef even checked to make sure my gluten meal was right can't fault the menu any day

It was Tapas Thursday and had 5 dishes - all of them were incredible and the chef, Liam, personally came to check. The salt and pepper chicken is the best I have ever tasted but having said that, every dish was top quality. Fabulous food and well worth a visit!

After hearing it had changed ownership since we visited a few years ago. We decided to try for a Sunday lunch. Not disappointed and ample meal size. Biggest half chicken I have seen. Very tasty food and friendly staff. Chef popped out to see how meal was and fed back excellent! Give it ago. They also do a tapas night on Thursday..will give it a try.

I've eaten a lot of burgers in my life, but this one if by far the best. Brought my mum here as a treat. Best eating experience i've had in a long time when it comes to restaurants. The head chef, Liam. He came out the check on us, told him the food was perfect. They now make their own desserts and they are brilliant, mum had sticky toffee pudding and I had the chocolate brownie with chocolate orange ice cream.10/10, recommending to everyone.

Been a couple off times over the last month and can say I am impressed with the turn around and quality of amazing food and value for money, Roast dinner to die far and a menu to tantalise your taste buds.We will be back.

Cheese pie main and sticky toffee pudding to finish both were far better than the usual pub food around I would go as far as saying any restaurant would be happy to serve it, staff friendly maybe a little understaffed but it was a lunchtime

Popped in for a quick snack and couldnt believe the standard. Tried a selection of starters - all fabulous and the best meat nd potato pie I've ever had. Beers on great form too

Had lunch on Monday afternoon when most other establishments are closed or have stopped serving food. Had the Steak sandwich and a pint of local real ale. Very tasty meal, excellent beer and very friendly service . New proprietors who are obviously keen to set off on the right foot. The whole menu looked very good , will certainly return, highly recommended.

Went on Thursday for meet the chef and taster evening.We wasnt disappointed, beautiful surroundings with a warm welcome followed by a selection of canapes. Outstanding and cant wait to return.

Visited today and took advantage of the three course meal I have to say the price and the food was both super amazing. The chef Liam took time to speak to customers and the staff and landlady Jake was so welcoming and friendly, I will recommend to everyone and will be visiting again.

Being a Feildens Arms local I’ve seen a few ‘managers’ and ‘chefs’ come and go in recent years but I honestly think the Feildens Arms is back on track. We’ve just had a stunning Sunday roast. Today’s menu was a Sunday dinner menu, a choice of traditional roast beef, roast pork with crackling, Lamb Henry, fish pie and a mushroom risotto. We went for the roast beef and it was wonderful, it even went down very well with our 7yr old daughter who is picky to say the least. The new management team look to have got things going in the right direction now with good service serving good beer at the bar, service with a smile and great home cooked food. Sadly I’ve no photos of the food but I’ll update with photos when we’re back for Sunday dinner next week. Looking forward to Tapas Thursday this week (and every Thursday).

Absolutely can’t recommend enough , food , presentation and service 10/10 the chef even comes to your table to make sure you enjoyed your meal , we had the 2 course special salt and pepper chicken to start , mouth watering then a pork roast just WOW .... staff very friendly

Absolutely disgusted booked a table for 6.30pm Saturday evening my guest gad driven over 50 miles round trip ..to be told on arrival. Sorry theres no food as we dont have any gas...by a young man behind the bar. I looked at him and he said someone should have phoned you..sorry ..tried 2 other nearby eateries none of whom could accommodate us at such short notice...totally ruined our evening and unforgiveable to not have the decency to even make a telephone call.

Took my elderly (98 years old) mum for lunch at Fielden’s Arms today and it was absolutely superb.

Had a lovely meal and drinks here today, seven of us aged 5 months to 85 years. Lovely and clean, beautiful setting, welcoming and pleasant staff and great food and drinks. First visit today, found on Meerkat Meals, won’t be our last!

This is our local pub so very handy. Visited for pizza and once again excellent pizza and good service. Ate outside in the beer garden. Thumbs up.

Visited with my son for dinner.What a gem,the steak was cooked perfectly to my request and i am very fussy when it comes to steaks,a big nice steak,well presented and very tasty.My son had the cheese and onion pie,homemade and very very tasty.Good value for money and thr staff very friendly.Would definitely visit again.Well worthy a visit.

Called for lunch and we ordered from the lunch menu and the main menu. All the food ordered was delicious and good value. It was well presented and came piping hot. The staff were very friendly and service was great. Worth a visit.

I went here for a family tea out and couldn’t be more disappointed! I got Cajun burger with chips, coke and a hot chocolate cake with ice cream. The burger bun tasted stale, the chicken was extremely dry and tasteless, even when I added the sauce it came with it was disgusting! The coke took 20 minutes to come when the rest of our table had Prosecco and the “hot” chocolate cake was barely warm. Would never visit here again.

Second visit with my familu,absolutelly loved it.My wife had the steak pie and she said was absolutely delicious and full of flavours,i had the full rack of ribs which was to die for and the Bbq sauce is homemade also,and to top it up KIDS EAT FREE 6 days a week so we never get to pay for our kids which is a massive bonus.Would definitely recommend to try it out.The service is also spot on and they are very attentive.

The staff are friendly and it was clean but very quiet for a weekend.

Husband had full rack of ribs at the latest visit and the curry special previously. He said both were delicious. We had pizzas and burgers etc all delish. Service great, people lovely as always. Blackberry gin highly recommended.

Recently received a Dine card, which means we've been looking for new places to eat where we can use it and we happened upon this place. What a find! The place looks lovely and we were greeted nicely by the staff. They were very friendly and having a laugh and a joke with my 6 year old son. We chose to sit in the bar area, though the restaurant are looked lovely, we just like the couch areas to sit at. The food was so obviously fresh, presented superbly and tasted fantastic. My partner and older son had lovely looking pizzas, that they both really enjoyed. My seafood linguine was very tasty and the 6 year old loved his chicken strips and he can be picky! Staff were attentive during the meal and again, very good at interacting with my 6 year old - fist bumps etc. We do go out for a family Sunday lunch very frequently and will be coming back here on a regular basis. There is plenty on the menu, for us to try something different each time. Very enjoyable experience.

Visited with my family on a Thursday night and found out they have a great offer of a burger and a pint for only £10.95,couldnt ask for more,burger was homemade with homemade chips and its been a long time since having a good pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord.Deffinatelly worth a visit and would recommend 100%

I have been to the Fieldens Arms on many occasions and they always cater so well with a no fuss approach. Very polite and the refurbishment is lovely.

The last time I ate here was, I think, in 1994, when I used to work down the road at British Aerospace. The place has certainly gone more upmarket in that time and the surroundings were lovely. Valentine's Day had been the previous day and we were a little alarmed to see all the red balloons around and a special Valentine's menu as I had just come for a chat and general catch up with one of my best friends! It was perhaps a little annoying that a very young child was running around hitting the balloons and shrieking but it couldn't be helped. My steak pie was delicious. My friend ordered a straightforward margherita pizza which she said was ok, but a little bland. We both had delicious puddings to finish off the evening.

Service very slow, cold dining room food below average had chicken skewers ☹️ Chicken goujons. And fries kfc does better very disappointing. Dnt waste your time

First visit today lovely table at the window sun was quite dazzling there but only had curtains up so didn’t want to shut those ordered while the men played pool starters arrived fairly quickly mains took a bit longer the staff are so friendly and smiley food arrived beautifully presented not as hot as I’d like but the taste of the roast was beautiful mash so good and huge road potatoes! My hubby loved the curry everybody said how good there food was and just enough of it will def make this one of our faves along with cavendish and dressers was def up there with the greats!

A great night at the Feildens. Minor issues with the main and set Valentine’s menus were overcome immediately by management. Great food, great service and all at a reasonable price. If only I’d managed to win at pool....

We ate here last night and wow the food was out of this world absolutely fantastic looked great and tasted even better nice to find a place where the food is so good and service is ok but the food made up for that.

Having been to the owners previous restaurant we had fairly high expectations but unfortunately the food was pretty average overall and certainly not worth the price. Service was good but it’s difficult to return with so many better places on offer in Mellor and near by. Wish them well but not planning to return soon.

We came as a family as we heard it has recently come under new management with a new menu and the last few times we came here we all really enjoyed it, i wasnt going to leave a bad review untill one of our party left an honest review about our experience only for the owner to reply sarcastically and unprofessionally using ";)" does not make your comment any more effective by the way... i find the service we recieved far worse than many other pubs we have visited, the food was ok but nothing special and not worth the price we paid, and they did offer a free dessert but it wasn't wanted the server offered the desert after one of our party memebers was asked how her food was as she didnt really enjoy it so left a large amount, she was honest about it and explained it wasnt very good, he said i will give you a dessert what do you want, they only had 2 cheesecake slices left and eton mess so she expained she didnt want one and he continued to insist and said i will bring you pofitarolls .. which wernt on the menu? We didnt ask for anything that wasnt on the menu as we had to prebook our meals before we arrived so i would really like you to explain that? We ordered 3 desserts between us and then obviously the free one but the bill came with 7 desserts on there... i find your reply to megan to be extremely unprofessional and a great way to loose custom not just from us but from everyone we know aswell, we spent well over £250 so for what we paid it was very very disappointing, will not be returning and will tell others to avoid, feel free to reply to me with a sarcy reply as well but i wont be checking back so it will be a nice waste of your time

We chose to come here for a family meal to celebrate my uncles birthday, however left feeling very disappointed. When arriving nobody came to take our drinks order and we felt ignored, even though we were a party of 13. When the starters came we again were disappointed and felt they were very overpriced. £8 for four small prawns and a piece of dry toast was not what we expected. The mains were ok but nothing special and lacked flavour and certainly not worth the prices on the menu. When we asked for the desert menu there was very limited options available. Eventually when we got the bill we were overcharged by £30. Nothing would have been done about this unless we questioned it. Not professional at all. Such a shame as we used to love coming here before it changed management. More customer service training needed and a better menu.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Feildens Arms having a meal with family for my dad’s birthday. Lovely, freshly cooked food. Most of us chose the set menu which had good choice and was incredibly good value. Fab pizza and garlic bread and my parents loved the fish and chips. The spicy chicken skewers, a new addition to the set menu were very tasty, however on a personal level I could take more spicy heat! Great friendly welcome from Mario. I have reviewed this pub/restaurant previously when Mario and Cat became the new management here and I am delighted that they are doing so well. I recommend a visit here for a great meal and friendly welcome Xx

The Feildens is the best it’s been for a long time. The food is very good and I can recommend the cheese and onion pie. mario and Catalina are the perfect hosts and all the staff are great. I just hope you are here for the long haul.

Visited for first time but had been to the owners previous restaurant. Service and welcoming by the manager was excellent. . The home made garlic bread didn't last a second ! Delicious.. Sunday dinner freshly cooked and tasty . The kids eating free was an added bonus . Keep up good work ..we will be back ....

I have been visiting the feildens on and off for about 10 years now. Its had numerous owners and again has recently changed hands. The new owners are really friendly and have created a great menu. I visited with my family and had a wonderful meal. The staff were brilliant, helpful and wonderful with my children. The beer selection is good. The meal was great value and i will be visiting again soon. I hope the new team stay and get the pub back to what it was years ago.

Being a Mellor resident for over a decade I have seen the Fieldens Arms change hands a number of times. And it’s easy to say it’s the best it’s ever been since Marion & Kat have been at the helm. Genuinely nice people that cannot do enough for you. The resteraunt has also had a revamp with lovely fresh food at reasonable prices washed down with a cold pint. Keep it up !

Had a fab night on Friday with friends staff were so polite and attentive. Even the head chef came out to speak to friends on slimming world to discuss ingredients! I had cheese and onion pie chips and mushy peas pie was massive and so tasty would definitely recommend

Very welcoming reception off the new owner wide choice of homemade food we went for roast beef dinner spaghetti carbonara complimentary kids meal of chicken and chips. We had a great starter of a garlic bread and the price for 2 meals a kids meal a starter and some desert was great. The atmosphere was good open fires I recommend for you to eat here.

Just went for a meal with the family and we were all really pleased. Excellent food, excellent warm & friendly service. We will certainly be back again and are thinking of booking in for a bigger family gathering.

After having such great times at SAN Lorenzo with Mario and his wife Catalina, we decided to visit their new establishment; The Fielden Arms at Mellor! What a wonderful evening we had, the food was spectacular and the service, by Mario himself, was spot on! 5* service! We will be back very soon! Keep the good work up guys!!

stumbled across this lovely pub whilst looking for somewhere to eat on our way home one Saturday.

A great little not too far off the beaten track place to eat. Stopped for Sunday lunch and found the food to be totally excellent, the hosts warm and friendly and a really nice vibe to the place. I know the hosts have just taken over... but they are doing a fab job and I hope they make a success of it.

Lovely atmosphere, great new owners! Food was great. 100% recommended, will certainly be eating there a lot more

Having moved into Mellor Brook about a year ago, we were really pleased to welcome Mario and Catalina to The Feildens Arms. We go in for a drink about once a week and enjoy the red wine and lagers.

My wife and I called in for lunch today and the service and the food was brilliant! We will definitely go again. We also want to say a great thanks to Mario as it was an excellent lunch.

Yesterday was our first visit since change of ownership. Over the last couple of years we have met up there with a couple of relatives (mid point between us), every 6-8 weeks. Food used to be OK under previous owner, but is a step up under new management. The four of us had pizza, caesar salad, fish and chips and cheese and onion pie. All were excellent and four clean plates! Whilst there are some sandwiches on the 2 course lunch menu, it would be handy to have the option of just having a sandwich on some occasions.

In the last 7/8 weeks been in for New Year's drinks and eaten their Sunday lunch and Àl a carte menu 4 times. The fillet Steak was a 10/10 £22.50 including a sauce and a super portion size cooked to my order. The garlic bread and pasta have been superb on all occasions. The beef and turkey lunches also scrumptious.

Absolutely fantastic food, excellent service and a great atmosphere. Would reccomend anyone to eat here.

First visit for a long time just looking for lunch time light meal. Disappointed only starters/main/pizza. Disappointed again when found only 2 of the 6 real ale pumps available. Cheese and onion pie good but please let me sit down and look at menu before asking what drink I want. Asked as I sat down then 2 minutes later I was asked again. I said please give us sometime twice and the look I got back from 2 different staff was very off putting. So on balance not a happy experience.

Second time we have visited since take over by new owners. Absolutely fabulous customer service and amazing food! We were all very happy! Food was served quickly and was fab. Will definitely be returning.

Three of us ate there in Christmas Eve and the food was excellent. One of us had sea bass and she said it was cooked beautifully and tasted great. I had sweet potato and butternut squash curry which had the option of adding chicken or prawns, I opted for the prawns and it tasted delicious. The other meal was spaghetti bolognese and was told tasted very good. The new owners Mario and Kat are lovely people and make you feel very welcome. Well done to everyone at team Fieldens, I highly recommend you.

Just been to the Fieldens with my grandsons. VERY IMPRESSED. Italian food and soooo tasty! One of my boys has a dairy allergy and the owners were very helpful. They have only been open about five weeks but it is certainly a place to go!!!!

Tried after being disappointed with previous owners. What an improvement. The menu is varied with new pasta and pizza additions as well as traditional. We had starters and mains, both delicious, decent portions and value for money. The owners and staff very helpful and nothing too much trouble. As locals we will definitely be returning.

Visited on a ‘christmas party’ as a nearby restaurant was already booked. At the time, we were advised that the pub was under new management, however no menu was available.

Just had an excellent pizza (and best pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord I've had this side of the pennines). Cheese and Onion pie also looked good and the chip I sampled cooked really well. Very pleasant staff and the place deserves to succeed.

Popped in for drinks this afternoon and very impressed with the new management team. Really friendly and welcoming, place immaculate, and although we didn't eat today food smelt and looked delicious. We will definitely be back to eat very soon. So as a local to the area I would urge all other locals to get behind the new management and support your local pub.. this can be a great venue for locals and visitors alike ... use it or loose it

What a joy! Under new ownership and the welcome was very warm and friendly. I ate on the first day of them doing food and I wasn't disappointed; far from it. The starter of king prawns in garlic and chilli was tasty and well cooked, the fillet steak was grilled to perfection and their sticky toffee pudding is to die for. Mario already keeps a good pint of Wainwrights. They just need to improve the wine list hence the 4 stars rather than 5. Its a perfect place to eat and drink. Its definitely going to be a regular haunt for me.

I was disappointed with my meal I had high expectations as the pub was lovely inside and the prices were reasonable. I ordered cod and Bombay potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The cod was nice, the potatoes few and the vegetables (plural) was 1 piece of broccoli. The sauce was just warm as was the food so I had to eat quick. I didn't complain as it wasn't bad it just wasn't good! I then ordered a decaf coffee, they had a lovely coffee machine, however the decaf was instant and £2.75! I won't be in a hurry to go back.

Not been for a few years, despite it being just around the corner from where my mum lives. Saw it was under new ownership and headed there for lunch with friends. One of them has two dogs and was thrilled to see the dog menu - and the dogs certainly enjoyed their sausages - good way to bring dog owners in. Service was really friendly and we all enjoyed our food. Will happily return.

We called in for lunch, Marlon gave us a warm welcome and let us choose our table. Food was fantastic, the staff were friendly and attentive but not too much which was nice. We will definitely be returning.
