I can do little better than agree with Crazycactuslady's review of 7 August 2022. The new owners are still facing staffing issues as there were only two staff out of four present when we went on 16 October. I was disappointed that milk shakes and coffee are still unavailable. My main concern is with hygiene. A customer shook hands with both of the staff who then proceeded to handle salad with their bare hands. Not once did they wash their hands and I couldn't see if there was a sink. The food hygiene inspectors really need to give this place a visit.

This place is rancid. We thought we would go here before an event at The Excel Centre. We had seen pictures and thought it looked cool. A 50s diner!! What it actually is, is a clapped out filthy caravan serving overpriced low quality garbage. We ordered a hotdog, a chicken burger, the buttermilk burger and a plain cheeseburger. The chicken burger was ok. The rest of the food was abysmal. The lady working behind the counter just mumbled when she wasn't reaching under her top to scratch herself constantly! The drinks were limited and although she pointed out the coffee machine was working, what she brought to our table was utter rancid. Like diarrhoea in a paper cup! There was food under the table. filthy condiments and N-Dubz on repeat!!! I was expecting a 50s environment, not some burger joint at the end of a late night out!! Would I recommend this place, I would recommend avoiding it like the plague. Disgusting.

I loved this diner!! It’s clear that these guys are starting out so the wait was a little longer than usual. However they gave us two extra cokes as an apology for the wait. There were only two of them after all! The food was incredible! Flavours of the chicken burger was just fantastic. The two guys were super friendly and created a relaxed atmosphere that you don’t get from most chains. Only up from here!

What a total disaster. New owners have taken over Fat Boys Diner called 'BSK' now. We arrived for some lunch we were greeted with the kitchen is closed, but have a look at the menu? We sat down to a filthy table, all the other tables were covered in left over food, sticky tables and mess. When the waiter came over to the table, he took our order including drinks, he never turned up with them. He came over and said did you order drinks? Yes from him! Luke warm cans and a bottle of water. No milkshakes, no refridgerated cold drinks. We had to ask several times where the food was. In the mean time this random bloke started picking up the rubbish, shoved it in a bin bag- THEN HE PICKED UP 2 HALF EMPTY DRINK CANS LEFT ON THE COUNTER AND STARTED TO DRINK THEM! I did not see one member of staff wash their hands once, handling raw meat, then on their phones, touching everywhere, there was food chucked all over the counter that wasn't refridgerated, the chef even decided at one point to leap over the counter?! Where you eat! No cutlery available, so we were offered spoons to use? With a burger and chips? The waiter was covered in food and unpresentable. Honestly, I have never experienced anything quite like it and I have been to hundreds of different places all over the world. MAIN CONCERN WAS NO LEVEL OF HYGIENE, CROSS CONTAMINATION EVERYWHERE. DISGUSTING, UNCLEAN MESS. I was just shocked at the level of uncleanliness. AVOID unless you want to get sick!!!!

Oh so good. Came after we saw it was back and running, and just loved it. Lovely spot, views and as quirky as you’ll ever get in London. Old American diner on the Trinity wharf which has just reopened by a clearly lush soul who can’t wait to get started. My girls ate like queens (zero left..not even a crumb) and the chicken burger my partner had was..well..it was just so good it’s almost silly. I had a dog and despite eating it like a savage I loved every bit of it. They’ll do well here, cos they’ve got the perfect mix of ridiculously good flavour and price. I’ll be back again and again and again and..you get the gist. Breakfast menu he showed looks ace. Onwards and upwards for this lot.

We tried to go to the diner back in April and it was closed, it is now under new management so we popped along and were not disappointed. They are awaiting certain machines so running on a small menu but it was lush and still a range to choose from. I ordered the chicken burger and usually these are underwhelming but this was huge and had so much flavour, accompanied by homemade coleslaw, the kids demolished their burgers and my husband enjoyed his hot dog. The venue is such a novelty too, an old American diner with views of the o2 and cable car. For a meal for 4 with drinks and chips it all came to under £50 which in 2022 is unheard of. The guys were so friendly I would highly recommend this place and we will be going back to try their new menu in the next few weeks.

We'd been looking forward to visiting here for a while. It didn't disappoint. After exploring the fabulous trinity buoy wharf, we queued for about 15 mins for a table. There's so much on the menu, it was hard to choose! The small number of friendly staff all worked hard and did well to look after the full outside area efficiently. We all enjoyed our meals (large portions!) And the milkshake was the best I've ever had. Couldn't believe the bill when it came! Our family of 4 havent eaten out that cheaply for ages. The prices are so cheap for London. Even though it's a bit out of the way, it's definitely worth the trip, especially on a warm sunny day. We'll definitely go out of our way to visit again.

I ate here one afternoon last month whilst I was staying up in London at the Novotel on Canary Wharf. I had seen this place featured on a TV programme. It looked to be in a very interesting setting and I do like this style of place. As I said I was staying on Canary Wharf and it was actually a very straightforward journey using two buses to arrive just a few hundred yards away from the entrance to Trinity Buoy Wharf where the diner is located. This whole area is yet another where there is a huge amount of development going on with the construction of apartment blocks. The Wharf itself has seen development with several units now operating as small businesses. The other feature worth mentioning is the superb view from the Wharf of the O2 Arena opposite and the giant skyscrapers of Canary Wharf in the mid distance. So to the diner itself and it really is a great place to eat. I don't know if it's an original or a reconstruction but it's a 60's style American diner that you see in films and photos of that era. The menu is fairly extensive and is of course centered round the ubiquitous burger but there are many other choices including salads for the healthy eater! There are breakfast options as well. A burger was just fine for me and I chose one with cheese and bacon together with the usual other trimmings and fillings. A very large portion of tasty fries accompanied it. To complete the true American style I had a lovely milkshake with it. The food arrived in good time and it was a pleasure to eat whilst looking out at the view. You can even see the cable car ride that crosses over the Thames very close by. I finished off with a nice cappuccino and the total bill I thought was very reasonable. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place if you like this style of restaurant and I really hope to go back again one day.

Came here for a late lunch on Friday 23rd July 2021. Initially, its location is stunning being located in Trinity Buoy Wharf, with seating both inside the diner and outside in a fenced off area. We chose to eat outside and the waitress saw to us and seated us in a cleaned table in short order from arrival. The menu was well laid out and considering its prime location in London the prices were reasonable. We ordered our food and the chief brought it out to us. Initially, we ordered a diet coke float (o the irony) and instead of just giving us the holder with the ice cream and cola, we were supplied the filled cups and the spare cola in the cans. Its a small thing but an indicator of how generous they are with portions, which we were about to find out when our main arrived in the form of a chicken and separate halloumi wrap. I ordered sweet potato fries and my wife rosemary fries. The fries were massive (I should have taken the queue from the diner name) . All was cooked well and was very tasty if ultimately so filling we couldn't finish our meal. The chief returned with a suggestion we take away our left overs if we wanted a doggy bag, and also suggested a free tap water to wash down our meal. We were not rushed and the service/table manner was welcoming. We will be back and we recommend wholeheartedly to anyone else in the area.

It's unusual for me to write a bad review but I was actually blown away by how bad Fatboy's diner was. Admittedly it was a busy day and the snow had caused some disruption, but after opening late due to staff lateness, there was a backlog of customers already waiting. When they served my table drinks they completely forgot mine, as well as the complimentary hot drinks offered with our order. When the food arrived it excluded the beans we had ordered. Our reminders were dismissed with a 'yes it's coming up now' a clear attempt to hide the fact they had forgotten. The beans were as cold as if they had just come from the tin and the 'grilled' tomato was raw. The table next to us were casually told after paying and waiting for pancakes with maple syrup, that there was no maple syrup and they can have butter instead. The staff seemed lazy and unapologetic. To top it off the milkshake machine began making a terrible noise that persisted for a good 5 minutes. After customers left tables remained dirty despite the staff not seeming busy. When the young waitress, who was the most professional of the team, began wiping the tables, she was openly chastised by the waiter and chef (for whatever reason) in front of everyone.

Second visit to Fat Boys and this was much better than the first time. First time the menu was limited and it felt very run down. They've moved it round the corner from original location, which is fine. Seating available outside. Great views. It was much warmer inside than on previous visit and generally felt a bit more like it was cared for. New menu too with much more choice. I had a breakfast (half portion), which was fab, others had burgers which they also enjoyed. Friendly and helpful young staff. My only criticism is that they don't offer desserts. It's an American diner, there should at least be apple pie or Mississippi mud pie, or even a donut! Their website had also expired/was unavailable when I tried to look so they need to update this. Would recommend and will return.

The complete breakfast which includes pancakes a syrup must be tried.I'm working my way through the fabulous smoothies but keep going back to the berry blast and raspberry heaven, but all of them taste marvellous. There are also salads available from Mediterranean to chicken or tuna.I'm also working my way through the many shakes but my favourite is Oreo and strawberry.I've never know so welcoming and professional people who work there which is a great first impression which makes me go back time and time again.

I first went to Fatboys a few years ago, since then it has been closed down, moved a few feet away and been reopened under new, better, ownership. Located in Trinity Bouy Wharf (the back end of beyond it seems, but actually just under 10 minutes walk from East India DLR), Fatboys has great views over the Thames to the O2 and of the cable cars- it's also directly underneath the flightpath into LCY so sit outside for some great views of arriving aircraft. The food is really good too- proper American style fries- well cooked and seasoned- and superb burgers, all cooked to order and done however you want them. On my latest visit (yesterday) i tried their chicken burger which i can safely say is the best ive had to date- really tasty and succulent.Ofcourse no review of Fatboys would be complete without a mention of the milkshakes- theyre amazing! This is definitely the place to go for a fantastic burger and escape the hustle and bustle of the docklands and city!

Now under new management this New York style diner has got more to boast about than simply being the real-life diner featured in Sliding Doors which starred Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah. Fatboy's Diner has been recently re-opened and the new owners are enthusiastic about getting things right. The service is quick bright and cheerful and the food is a delight. The menu includes what you would expect, shakes, smoothies, hot dogs burgers, pure Americana. The signature Fatboy Burger is simply superb, but made up with two thick juicy 6oz all beef patties... it's big! and for just £10, comes with proper fries and tasty garnishes. Aromatic coffee, shakes made with real fruit, pies and pastries are all on offer. Whilst I have not tried it yet, the English Breakfast looked a popular choice on the day I visited! Definitely going back soon when we next visit the London Lighthouse which is right next door...

I read about Fat Boy's online and was excited to go here and try their American pancakes but unfortunately it was disappointing. The diner itself is like stepping back in time and I loved it. We were worried that there wouldn't be any tables as it's small but, even though it was a lovely and sunny Sunday afternoon, it was very quiet. This was a little concerning but probably due to the out of the way but unique and interesting location. The main issues were the service and the food. The waitress was surly and didn't smile once, she really looked like she didn't want to be there. I appreciate that she may have been having a bad day but it made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. We ordered American pancakes which were ok but nothing special and certainly not worth what we paid for them (can't remember exactly but think it was around a fiver), especially as they were small. I go to another American Diner (admittedly not in London) where you can get lovely fluffy, huge pancakes for far less. They also had no milkshakes which surely is an American Diner staple?!Overall, disappointing and I sadly won't be returning. This could be somewhere really special if only the staff were friendly and the food good.

As local thought we would give it a try, was hard to find and never would I known about it without trip advisor. My breakfast of pancakes bacon and eggs arrived cold, egg was not cooked fully and the bacon was burnt. £7.50 for the pleasure? Way over priced. So so disappointed this place got so much potential but ruined by the poor food, cleanliness, staff and choice of music. An American dinner needs that 1950s American rock music Won't be returning, ever.

Such a good experience, I love finding/going to hidden gems of London and this is definitely one to visit. The diner itself is great!Mine and a friends burgers were absolutely lovely (she said the best shes had for years), sweet potato fries were really nice and the drinks very cold. Couldnt complain! We went on a week day around 3pm so wasnt busy at all, food came quickly and the man & woman running it were very welcoming and friendly...infact, we visited the day before at nearly 5pm and as they were closing they gave us a 10% off flyer for next time and some brownie pieces for free :) I will definitely be returning, the area is lovely...we went on a hot day and was really good to walk around and looking at the o2/city skyline over the river

Myself and colleague were away in London with work staying in the area, we searched where we could get some food and fatboys caught our eye..and we were not disappointed! We had to follow the Satnav on our phones as it was slightly hidden away. Once we found the diner we couldn't believe how great and authentic it was! We had a really warm greeting from a young Australian girl who took amazing care of us! We both had the original burger with fries and a strawberry milkshake and it was amazingggggg! Quick and friendly service..10/10Can't wait to find myself back there again

Its a small cozy caravan-sized cafe with outdoor seating if you want to be outside. Lovely burgers (The best I have ever tried) and nice staff. They also have nice milkshakes (especially the Oreo one) and a nice seating booth or bar stools. If you sit on the bar stools, you can watch the burgers sizzling while your waiting. Its a nice 80s American restaurant and I highly recommend it.

I visited Fatboy's for the first time and was impressed with every aspect! The welcome was warm, the service polite, as the food was all freshly cooked there was a nice wait while we took in the atmosphere. The food was hot and delicious. We will definitely be returning!

Great food, fantastic service, buzzy diner. Fun place to while away a greedy morning while the kids do parkour. Try the milkshakes - a meal in themselves!

It's not the easiest to get to, and you certainly won't stumble across it, but having found it online I went out of my way to find Fatboys and wasn't disappointed. It's cosy/tight, there's a bit of construction going on around it, and the big tourist site in the area is tantalisingly out of, well, sight. But the lack of a view of the Millennium Dome is less of a disappointment when confronted with great service, excellent pancakes, and cracking (endless refill) coffee. If you don't mind going out of your way a bit, you'll struggle to find a better eatery for these prices in London.

I went to fatboy's diner with a few friends and the burgers we experience were outstanding. The presentation and taste was beyond any other burger I've ever had. Easily the best burger I've ever tasted however the wait was very very long and the staff were confusing me and my friends when we were trying to pay. I'm not even sure what the lady behind the till was trying to tell us.

Fat boys never lets me down. Great burgers at great prices all freshly cooked in front of you. All the chains are just expensive imitations. Got to Fat Boys have a burger! Fries and a milkshake in true American style. Just brilliant

Very nice atmosphere, it was like being in an American movie. Nice clientele and excellent service, especially for a large family with young children like ours. Nice burgers and chips, average price.

Loved it.Atmosphere was terrific and love the idea of keeping it as it was. Food was really great too and about right for London pricing.Although it is out of the way it is well worth a visit because there is plenty to see on trinity buoy wharf that's for sure!

Decent meaty burgers but a 3 patty and cup of tea was 9.50.Three was necessary as the burgers are just 200g and chips or even small salad would have been extra.Milk shakes at 4.50 were pricey too.Nice staff and cool place but low footfall means high prices.

Cracking little American 50's diner in an interesting and hidden away corner of London. Well worth a visit.Classic American menu and a great retro vibe. Offered exactly what we were hoping for and expected. Would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. If your staying in the docklands or visiting the o2 then this is a must for breakfast.

We wanted this to be a really great experience. It looks like a really great type of place and is in such a cool area. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a let down. The dining area is too small, the place got very smoky, the service - very friendly- could have been more efficient and I'm afraid the food wasn't memorable. Not a bad place and good fun for an experience, but we won't return unless it is improved.

We keep going back because it's simply the best burger we've had in London. But the service is so bad! The servers act like you are doing them an inconvenience by being there. They are rude and unable to cope with amount of customers. They should take a page from a real American diner and offer that welcoming feeling they are so known for. Last time we were they, they brought my partners food out and then served a table of four before bringing my meal out. We waited 10 minutes between his meal being served and mine finally arriving, despite seeing the same burger go to the table next to me. They didn't apologise or offer anything.

Fatboys is iconic and featured in movies (Sliding Doors) and various other things. It's compact and cosy, great atmosphere and is a hidden treasure in Trinity Wharf, which itself is a beautiful location on the opposite side of the river to Millennium Dome.Food is American themed and ok, I enjoyed the atmosphere.Check their opening times on Facebook.

This is a fun place - and rightly has been used as a filming location for lots of TV & film. It's quaint and interesting with good service and OK food. The burger was good but the chips were below average. This was more than made up for by the off-beat location and fun environment.

Hello! This place is a great location, and great actual venue... wicked american style silver diner caravan, all the things you would expect to see in a 1950's style scene......except the service...Me and my missus arrived about 1.30pm... we was in dire need of pancakes and syrup! we looked - chose - and then a miserable looking girl came over and asked what we wanted... we asked for pancakes... she gave us a look and pointed - not said - pointed with her pen to the "served before 1pm" sign... ok.. our fault... you CANNOT get breakfast after 1pm... thats cool... we just ordered burger, chips and a shake.while we was waiting... some people came in who appeared to know the chef... they sat down on the table next to us... as they shouted down... "our usual please" ...within 4 mins, all 4 of them got there burgers and chips... it was obvious... we had to wait until after they was served...OK - fine... whatever,. 10 mins later we got ours from our delightful waitress...Then we noticed that these blokes - best friends with the chef - got some pan cakes and syrup delivered to there table.... HHMMMM!!! i thought, and it clearly states... that you could only get breakfast BEFORE 1pm... not AFTER!now... this may have just been a bad day for the waitress, and was just bad luck that the chefs homeboys were there the same time as us... but... this is a service.. and its really unprofessional and a wee bit awkward for us to see that other people seem to have a better service of whom they were and was given food we was told we could not have..its a shame, because of this, i wont be going back and i wont be recommending it to anybody... i eat out a lot - could of had a lot more custom from me and my pals.. but you don't seem to care...thats allta ta and i hope the service improves, coz its a lovely place..:)

I was looking for something a bit different for visiting London and came across info on Trinity Buoy Wharf. I'd never travelled on the DLR and fancied checking out this area of the Thames. We walked down to Trinity Buoy Wharf - it's a reasonable walk, sadly rather tatty and shows how the Docklands is still very much a mix of regeneration and neglected patches overgrown with budleia strewn with litter. As we approached the wharf (well signposted) there were some eyecatching sculputures and info boards with history of Victorian Orchard Place (this area of the docks). There was nothing much going on at Trinity Buoy Wharf (the website suggested summer activities...) and you could not view the Thames from inside the lighthouse. Whilst we enjoyed the riverbank views from here & looked at container city, overall we seemed to be the only visitors who weren't residents or workers. Fatboy's Diner made the trip worth the visit! We loved the authentic diner, the music, the friendly welcome and great food. The food was all prepared for us, true diner style and we loved the peanut butter milkshake, the burgers, onion rings - the burgers were just so tasty & such a reasonable price. If this place were in a busier area of town it would be heaving. It was doing steady trade and I'm sure locals in the know are using this regularly..I'd love to have this on my doorstep. We then walked back to the DLR and made a connection to cross the Thames using the cable car. You can see Trinity Buoy Wharf from the cable car.. it's a tiny wharf and has so much potential.. worth checking out Fatboy's Diner facebook page as I see they have details of when there are events on at the wharf.

Very disappointed with location, after spending quite some time trying to find it, place looks very tired and could do with a lot of tlc and a bit of a spruce up. Or even moving completely to a better location. That being said the food really was very good and reasonably priced.

The location is quite hard to find, the food was lovely and could not fault. However the service was shocking waited 30 mins for drinks as my son ordered a mocktail. The guy who served us was very nice and was his first day. The other servers just ignored us. We like good steak restaurants and it was a shame that the drinks let it down.
