This is a great organic farm shop. We have rejected supermarkets and chosen to buy from independent shops, which makes this a brilliant place for us. The fresh fruit and vegetables are top quality and buying here means that we also generate virtually no plastic waste or even plastic recycling. Ecover refills are available, along with other eco-friendly cleaning and household products. Their own organic products, whether fresh or frozen, are excellent - we love the soups. The beef and chicken are also absolutely top notch. The friendly and helpful staff are also to be commended.

We always call here for organic milk and eggs and are usually tempted by the selection of produce and home baking, especially the chocolate brownies! The cafe has a good range of drinks and eats and the staff are always pleasant.

Decent choice of cake, tray-bakes and hot drinks. We stopped on our way home for a drink and toasted tea-cake. The latter was full of flavour and served hot and buttered, what more would you want?

Called here during the week with a friend. I had a piece of coffee cake which was very nice. This is a handy place to catch up with friends over a piece of cake and a cuppa

Came to shop for organic milk for kefir and came away with bacon, eggs, yoghurt, a paper, a card, a candle for my wife's bday and no milk. Oops. Nice wee shop, all organic if you're into that kind of thing. Comes at a premium price wise though. Staff helpful.

I had a very tasty vegan meal here and the staff were able to advise me on content. My meal here was very enjoyable in the relaxing atmosphere of the little café behind the shop.

Stopped en route from Leicestershire to Northumberland. Had a lovely break in such a pretty location. Walked round the roman fort remains and the bridge footings before lunch of fresh produce with wonderful service and atmosphere. Good shop too. So much nicer than the A1, so refreshing.

Stopped here a couple of times for lunch en route between Yorkshire and Northumberland. Welcoming staff, excellent food, comfortable cafe with a box of cushions for use at the tables and a well stocked small shop of local produce. Would certainly head for here again on future trips.

In spite of having the cakes Etc in a display cabinet you queue along with people ordering cooked food. They take your order, a slip is then placed in order with the cooked food, (you are not able to collect this on a tray) You sit down and wait, and wait, and wait! 15 mins: to bring two coffees and two tray bakes. When leaving, you queue again to pay. One person on the till, eight people in the queue, a second person came to the till, but immediately went away to take a delivery- so 10 mins: to pay.The food and coffee were average, but the service is pathetic.

Not bad. Was very expensive, though (over £3 for cheese on toast) and there were an awful lot of flies buzzing around. I counted six in our corner of the room. It was very distracting. That and the price put me off ordering any food.

We were plesantly suprised when we stummbled accross this lovely little farm shop and cafe and overjoyed when we were told that soya milk was on offer as two members of our family are dairy free due to health problems.Whilst waiting for our tea to arrive a member of staff approached us to inform us that we needed to pay extra if we wanted the soya milk. Now seeing that we had already paid for our drinks in advance we found this this attitude to be most unproffesional and off putting.Luckily we had a carton of soya milk with us and so we refused to pay the extra and used our own.How much extra would we have needed to pay I don't know but surely this attitude was unneccessary. We had intended to buy some of the shops produce after having our tea but we left vowing not to return.Perhaps we are due a refund for the cows milk they saved!!

I last reviewed this place in 2019 where my main issue was poor service and would you believe it things haven't changed. Service today was non existent. We were seated for over 10 minutes .... Not even a greeting. Front of house totally disorganised. It's a wonder the floor covering wasn't worn out because of the too-ing and fro-ing which never seemed to produce anything. This service is the worst I've experienced anywhere.. Cone on.... Get a grip !

Parking is plenty and is a one way system, so don't try to get to the front out of laziness or you could get stuck during busier times and end up having to go back out and round into the main dual carriage way and roundabout if there is too much traffic. The parking is free and it is a gravel car park . As you enter there is a sign to wait to be seated, but don't wait if there are plenty of seats, as you'll be there forever. I think the sign should be put away during quiet times and brought out in busier times. Once seated it's easy to order, choose what you want from the menu and go to the counter (remember what your table number is). Massive cake/sweet selection at the till area so I suggest having a look there as well for sure! At first glance £4(something) for a Melba is a bit much but then when you see the size of it, it's fair. Delicious too! They have take away boxes as well, yum! The last time I went I tried the hot beef bap and it was really good, no chewy, gristle or fatty bits in the meat at all. Spot on. Time before was the cheese pie which I absolutely loved (my lactose intolerant body however rejected it, but was still worth it and I'll do it again NGL). The majority of the staff are lovely, I've never felt anyone has been rude (even when they seemed to be having a crappy and busy day). Have been a few times now and definitely will go again. Edit: it's also (well behaved) dog friendly.

A hidden gem of a pub. We were recommended by a friend to seek out this place just off the main road between the Eden Arms Roundabout and Newton Aycliffe. Good friendly staff. Food was lovely .Little Jill had the Pie of the day, Chicken and Ham, I had the Gammon. Both were really lovely. The only gripe i had was the overflowing wall mounted cigarette bin at the main door it was unsightly and off putting to us non smokers. Maybe move it or empty it more often. Only a little gripe and will not put us off returning.
