Farm Shop At Cranswick in East Riding of Yorkshire

My eldest son brought me here as a treat on Mother's Day. He hadn't booked and we were lucky enough to secure table and with 4 minutes to spare, the breakfast menu! We opted for the same thing - eggs Benedict, mine served with a latte and his with a mocha. We soon polished this off and were soon enjoying a slice of something sweet - rhubarb, lime and ginger cheesecake for me, with a chocolate flapjack for my son. Just lovely. A nice restaurant, with a lovely farm shop to wander around afterwards! 10/10

I called a week before and booked at 1pm for a family birthday lunch for 6, seeing they do a roast on Sundays. By the time we were sat and went to the counter to order about 1.20pm the only roast choice of roast beef had finished. There was no other roast on. A bit miffed, we re-grouped and ordered the other options of 2 different types of quiches, that in the meantime had also sold out! The only cooked meal on the menu was scampi and chips, that none of us wanted. So the only option was sandwiches, which we ordered. We did raise this with the staff, they were apologetic but nothing they could do apart from give us the contact number/email for the management, but one did let slip that apparently this happened the previous week and the customer was very angry. Took 40 mins for 6 sandwiches and 2 chips/1 coleslaw. The other's sandwiches had one side stale or drying, almost like like the sandwiches had been standing for some time or on the pass, near a heat source. My cajun chicken ciabatta had 4 measly small pieces of chicken and lots of pepper/onion. The chips came in a small conical bowl, with not a lot of chips in, quite expensive per chip! There were plenty of empty tables that had plates piled up and messy, that weren't cleaned. No one during the hour and half we were there seemed bothered to clear the tables away and the whole environment was not very pleasant. Needless to say the whole experience ruined our lunch and we won't return. I hate to give such a bad rating but this was really a disastrous experience. To make matters worse the two quiche choices were available cold in the farm shop deli. A bit of quick thinking by the chef/manager may have avoided getting 1 star rating from me/us.

Been here a couple of times and cannot fault food, today was no exception. Very very busy, had to wait for a table but not long. Staff OK, but not very friendly or welcoming. I put it down to them being busy but from the other reviews on here appears to be the norm which isn’t good, this needs sorting! Didn’t have to wait too long for food which was very good. But then a couple took the table next to us with a dog!!!! This is my biggest hate when eating, finding it so unhygienic and annoying. It was pouring down with rain outside and the dog was obviously wet and absolutely stank! And then it starting yapping - AARRGGHH. Was going to have a cake but because of the dog we left straight away. Why do people with dogs think it is OK to bring their dog into a busy eating establishment, not everyone loves dogs but sometimes feel I am the only one to feel this way. If you really need to allow dogs put them in a segregated area. Unfortunately this has put me off from returning and spoilt a nice family lunch!

We love Hutton Cranswick farm shop and cafe. The food is delicious, staff are friendly and helpful. The farm shop went out of their way to help me with a meal order required for tomorrow. The farm shop food is delicious and excellent value and the staff are helpful, kind and have a sense of humour.😃 Well done Hutton Cranswick farm shop and cafe you are amazing and our favourite place to come to shop and eat. The Steak pie here use to be lovely, but just lately they have changed, the meat has fatty bits in it, and it dosen,t have much taste, the pastry has is different, and thin, it is a shame as it was the best steak pie in the area, I guess it is all to do with cut backs.

Lovely ambience and good coffee and cake. It was mid afternoon and there were lots of empty tables but I was asked if I had a reservation!?! The bifold doors and the skylights mean that it’s a bright and cheerful place.

Food OK. Staff not very helpful. Allowed dog in but sat us in a busy walkway and wouldn't say dog friendly.

Clean cafe. Plenty of options including breakfast on the lunch time menu. Lovely desserts and cakes available. Plenty of drinks to choose from. Really friendly servers. Food was really nice but was a bit disappointed in the rarebit for the price and would not have this again. Would definitely come back again soon

Menu has recently changed but the staff were so helpful dealing with identifying and amending dishes for two of our party with food allergies and intolerances. The food was fresh, tasty and made with good quality ingredients. All staff were friendly and efficient. I have no hesitation in recommending a visit.

Excellent visit. Very friendly welcome. My wife uses a walker and waitress found suitable table where she had room to leave walker, without being asked. Excellent jacket potatoes with beautiful salad and excellent coleslaw. Well worth the visit.

WOW....visited this cafe a number of times with my elderly parents always a warm, friendly welcome from all staff. Meals have always been high quality tasty and hot. Arranged a surprise lunch for my dad's 80th and couldn't of asked for any more. All staff were amazing all went above and beyond to make it special for us. Trish you and your staff are all amazing. It’s very difficult dealing with often rude people who are allowed to refer to the staff as rude , knowing the can’t defend themselves , because the customer is always right !! . Called again today, the second time within a week. Food was absolutely delicious again, and the staff were so polite and friendly. The billionaire flapjack is the best I have ever tasted; so much so that we took 4 pieces home to share with family who could not join us. Keep up the good work Trish and staff, you are doing an amazing job!!

We just went for a cup of tea and cake and whilst this was lovely we were a little bit disappointed by the greeting we got as we arrived. The lady who was seating us was rather rude and when we requested a table by the window we were told that’s for 4 - there was 2 of us - and whilst I can understand keeping these tables as such when the cafe is busy this was really not the case while we were there. Her attitude rather spoilt our enjoyment of what could have been a lovely hour or so there.

My wife and I are quite particular about where we eat and drink and are frequent fliers here. Whatever anybody else says, the cafe/restaurant is unrivalled as the place to go for lunch and/or coffee and cake in East Yorkshire. All of the ladies staffing and running the cafe are fantastic being very friendly and engaging. They enjoy a good chat and I love making them laugh as they work tirelessly to give customers a great experience. Unequivocally they have achieved this every time we have been! The food is all superb and great value. The only thing I am worried about in writing this review is that this already very busy place will get more so and they will not be able to fit us in!

Being so lucky to live near this excellent far shop/restaurant we visit regularly, both for eating and buying the lovely produce. Certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We are often on the road to Scarborough/Whitby and frequently break the journey for a cuppa and loo stop, but since covid have been using the farm shop more for a brunch/lunch/afternoon snack stop, depending on when we travel. The food is very good and...

First off is it gets very busy ,so would suggest booking table, food is fairly priced, and you do get enough food on ya plate which is very nice,and some nice fresh products in the shop area ,would recommend a visist

Very unfriendly. Refused cooking a couple of omlettes one minute after 12 noon even though they were still cooking breakfast for other people.

Popped in for lunch : jacket potato with tuna. Wow. Tuna was plentiful served in large ramekin, jacket perfectly cooked with crispy skin, yum yum. Beautifully presented with colourful healthy array of salad. Gorgeous and definately recommend.

Just been to the farm shop with my wife to shop and stop for a coffee I was surprised to be charged extra for having oat milk,??? Never been charged extra at any other cafes I have been to, oat?!

Visited this cafe to catch up with some family before Christmas. Unfortunately i found they did not cater for Gluten Free, when I asked what was suitable I was offered a Soup or a Jacket Potato surprise surprise!! I could also have the Christmas Dinner...

Popped here on the way home to get a cake for after lunch. Busy, and after only a short wait, soon got to the counter to make my selection...with so much to choose, got a couple more tha planned. .millionaire shortbread, Maltese slice and frangopans. All were lovely. Will be back to check out the cafe as the hot food smelled lovely!

We got there at 2.20pm and were told that meal service finished at 2.30 but not in a rude way. We quickly ordered the breakfast which was one of the nicest we have had. Quality ingredients nicely cooked. My husband is unable to eat mushrooms or beans (medical reasons) so these were left off without comment or fuss.When my tea was brought I was asked if I wanted hot water which was brought straight away. Wish other places did this.One of us had the lovely strawberry roulade as a treat. Again staff were friendly. We were asked twice if our meal was to our satisfaction.We will be returning.

Wow I was absolutely gob smacked how rude the staff are there's an older women who is just unreal we came from scarborough looked up this cafe definitely won't be going back! I left my salad and the women replied take it you don't eat salad then in a rude voice!!! They were so unpleasant I am actually so shocked but then I looked at other reviews on here and I aint the only one who thinks this staff training 100% needed!!! Let down by the staff in this cafe.

Just to note that this is a café review and not for the shop and deli- it seems that there is a mix of reviews for both on this page, which is quite confusing. We visited with family on Sunday lunchtime. The café manager was brilliant and happy to reserve a table for us at short notice despite being quite busy. The café and toilets were very clean and there was a nice, calm atmosphere even though the staff appeared to be rushed off their feet dealing with tables inside and outside. It seemed like they could have done with more staff but they dealt with it well. The shop appeared to have too many staff just standing around in comparison. We ordered the homemade quiche in both flavours as well as the toasted sandwiches. All of the meals were delicious and you could tell that everything was homemade. We also enjoyed the drinks that we ordered including ice cream milkshake and hot chocolate. The café manager (Tricia) was fantastic and couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. She checked everything was fine and ensured that all dietary requirements were met. All in all we were very satisfied with our experience and will be visiting again. The food is high quality and very good value with really friendly service in the café. Thanks for a lovely lunch!

I have been visiting the farm shop weekly for approx. 6 months now since moving to the area and while they have a great range of quality food and a well stocked deli, the attitude of the staff leaves a lot to be desired.I often pick up a number of items for ourselves and both sets of parents, but asking for anything more than 1 sausage roll and 1 cake seems to be far too much of an inconvenience, which I can appreciate to an extent when there is a queue, but I have often been the only one there and still experienced rudeness from the staff.I've always brushed away the rudeness because the quality of the food was good, so we decided to visit for a coffee and cake on Sunday afternoon. There was no clear signage at the front on where to go so entered through the deli where there were two lanes into the cafe area, one with a blackboard saying no entry but the other lane clear.A member of staff came rushing over to us asking us what we wanted and then with a very rude tone informed us repeatedly that we had entered the cafe the wrong way and she couldn't believe we hadn't seen the large blackboard that said no entry, basically tried to make us feel like we were thick. I gave up trying to explain that we had seen the two lanes with a blackboard in one of them but she wasn't interested, think she was just pleased to of had a go at someone. We were made to feel very unwelcome, and after been shown to a table we felt extremely uncomfortable and decided to leave and find somewhere else. I think it speaks volumes that at 3 pm on a Sunday the cafe area was practically empty yet across the road at the garden centre they only had a few tables left in their cafe, and their staff were a lot friendlier too. Looking at some of the previous reviews on here bad attitude from the staff seems to be a recurring theme and they need to address it. We won't be rushing back any time soon.

I arrived on a rainy day and was a bit wet when I entered the restaurant. When I stepped in the lady who greeted us noticed that my glasses were wet and steamed up and immediately presented me with a napkin to dry my glasses which was very thoughtful and created the impression that she was caring and thoughtful.Our order was taken quickly and so did the food which was plentiful and of very good quality. The coffee and cakes are equally tasty and of good value. This place is a wonderful place to eat good food and drink exceptional coffee with friends. The staff are friendly and professional. I plan a return visit. In addition, the deli / shop also sells lovely food which I took home. The key Lime Pie is sumptuous.

Visited the cafe for the first time since the start of the November lockdown. We were welcomed at the door by Tricia who greeted us like long lost friends and let us know our usual table was available. It was so lovely to be remembered after so long and the food and service were excellent as always. Always a pleasure to have breakfast here.

Very busy for a Sunday, but waited in the deli queue until served. Many didn't and left to go elsewhere. Got a sandwich, sausage roll, steak slice scotch egg and cake to try. Sandwiches has too much mayo in the mix as it overpowered my bacon and brie one, and shared the other bits which were very nice! Cake was nice and fresh too. Would go back, just not too quickly!

Pies and cake choice was good (although sadly no small pork pies) to take for a picnic. Staff were friendly and happy to give advice on products. Hand gel was plentiful and shop was big enough for social distancing.

Pop in for lunch today. Husband hates peas asked if lunch came with peas told I don’t know! Never offered to find out but did say we never serve peas but with fish. Meal arrived complete with peas. Never offered to take it back but gave him a milk jug to put his peas in. Think staff need to be told what veg comes with what meal before service.If you like curd tart the ones from the deli are lovely

Popped in to get a sandwich today. The food is fantastic but the staff are so rude!! I was asked where my mask was, to which I told them I am exempt. I dont wear a lanyard around my neck to show I'm exempt because I don't want appear to be a vulnerable person so I simply just don't wear one. I suffer with severe anxiety (it's a miracle I even made it out to the shop) to then have the girl behind the counter roll her eyes at me when I told her I'm exempt and continued to be rude. I felt like I was treated differently because I didn't have a mask on. Which is against the Equality Act. Your staff need to get off their power trip, and quick! Won't be coming for a while. At least until the pandemic is over! I had a panic attack in the queue waiting to pay thanks to kerry.

We popped in for take away coffee and a snack. We followed the sign which said to go around the building for the cafe. Once we arrived they told us to go back around for take away coffee. When we got to the spot they told us to go we were then told they turned off the machine. We explained that we were told to walk back around to be served here instead of the cafe. She then said I suppose we can turn it back on. We were given a piece of paper and didn’t know what to do with it. We asked and was rudely told to go to the tills. So we paid and then was left standing around. All the staff we encountered were not friendly or helpful. Pretty much felt like we were wasting their time. And a coffee was too much trouble. Also for a farm shop not much produce or nice farm shop type food. Safe to say we will not be coming back here again.

Went to farm shop this morning found staff very rude we are exempt from wearing a mask we have a langyard was approached by 3 staff members demanding to know where our mask was will never go again

We are local regular customers at the farm shop and cafe. Have had excellent takeaway coffee during last lockdown but yesterday felt very disappointed by our drinks. Firstly small disposable cups lukewarm not usual quality. Charged £2 for cappuccino and £2.30 for Mocca. Seemed expensive for what it was. Would have gone back in to complain but queue in the shop was in a hurry. Will wait until end of lockdown before we visit again.

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff, BUT this place is a nightmare if you want something vegan to eat! After a meeting in the kitchen they decided they could manage to rustle a jacket pottato with beans, WOW! They did have some oat milk and apparently had some vegan cake!Come on you guys, you could do so much better, in an area rich with lovely fresh veg localy grown, some vegan options would not be difficult! I am sorry us vegans are a bit of a pain, but we are here to stay and our numbers are growing, it would be so positively received if you could move with the times.

Our son popped here with a friend and brought us home a bakewell tart and an almond tart to try. Both were excellent, the pastry was crisp and just sweet enough to complement the fillings (we shared both). It has encouraged us to go for lunch!

Visited twice once at breakfast and one at lunch. Great quality food and drink. Friendly and helpful staff. A lady called Belinda was particularly friendly and helpful on our first visit.

Pleasant and helpful staff. Good set up with social distancing measures and one way system.Breakfast was perfect. Attention to detail and quality food used. Fresh and not greasy. Thick cut bacon with only slight fat cooked to perfection. Sausages good quality, cooked with just enough crisp without being dry. Perfect egg. Beans separate in bowl which I like. Tomato cooked just enough not to be hard or too soft and mushrooms just enough. Toast lightly toasted and we were kindly offered more but not needed as had plenty of food. Good quality coffee Would definitely recommend and return.

We had our last coffee before lockdown at the Farm Shop (March 20) and our first one after rules were relaxed and such establishments could open. The coffee’s good, the cakes are great and it’s one of the places on our list that we’d trust for indoor dining if the weather didn’t permit alfresco.Moreover, they haven’t gone down the road of adding to the plastic mountain - you’re on proper cups and plates, which is good. Well done, the Farm Shop.

After a huge hot walk we called in here for late lunch. Still all items were available on the menu; highly recommended chicken chorizo and mozzarella sandwich and the hunters chicken burger did not disappoint the daughter. Lots of outdoor seating available as well as indoor too.All staff adhere to distancing and sanitising products for customers too.Well recommended and the shop has super quality products to take away.

Met my friend here today for lunch . Well set out one way system. Didn’t know you could book but managed to get a table. Lots of people eating outside as well. Staff explained at the door the procedure and showed us to our table. Lovely sandwiches with crisps and salad. Really enjoyed it.

To be honest I don’t really know how to score this one. Visited today with a friend for lunch. Nice place, bright, clean, airy, staff were friendly and a good selection to chose from and the cakes and deserts looked delicious. Both my friend and I chose the ‘Posh fish finger sandwich’ as it sounded lovely. When it arrived it was presented nicely (albeit very small) .. brioche bun, salad garnish and a few crisps with nice chunky homemade tartare sauce peaking out the sides. However upon eating it was a real disappointment. The fish fingers were most definitely not ‘posh’. Now I expected nice decent sized crispy golden battered fish fingers and yet what I got was small, thin, dry cheap looking nasty fish fingers that I wouldn’t even serve up to kids. £7 each for what we got was expensive and for that price I expect more than cheap fish fingers, a bit of salad garnish and half a dozen crisps. So so disappointed and puts me off going back again.

Popped this morning to buy pork pies. Looked at the prices and decided to buy two of the size one priced at £3.69 each. After paying for them, realised that I had been charged £8.10 for the two. Went back to the deli counter and saw that the price was £3.69. After waiting a while due to three members of staff chatting, I spoke to one of the staff and pointed the price out, she grabbed the sign and had a conflab with another member of staff and said the price is wrong, they've gone up (for Christmas?) So I said, shouldn't they honour the price (I had made my decision to purchase based on the price) She just shrugged her shoulders and said 'well that's the price' I said, 'thats it then'!? She again just shrugged her shoulders. So rude, not such a big deal about the misspricing, someone needs some customer service training!!!

This was a private party with a large group of people. The group organisers did a fantastic job of providing plenty of entertainment for everyone, but I’ve got a feeling this might have impacted on the food service. The waitresses served sporadically instead of finishing one table at a time, they bought all of the same dishes out together, so people sitting at tables were politely waiting for others meals to come before starting, resulting in cold food. They also served the vegetables first then brought out the mains, which again resulted in cold food! The vegetables were over cooked grey looking sprouts, chantenay carrots which looked slightly muddy, and garden peas. The roast potatoes were lovely, but lukewarm, when they bought more out, as we had almost finished the main course, they were piping hot and lovely. There was no gravy brought out until we were half way through the main, when it did arrive (in a huge gravy boat) it was watery, bitty, greasy and pretty tasteless. I felt a bit sorry for the waiting staff as they were on hold while the entertainment went on, but there was no organisation or anyone leading them. They wandered about with food looking for its owner, we had our meals on our place cards so maybe they should have had a plan with them all on. They could then have served each table completely before moving to the next one. Having eaten here before I was very disappointed with the meal, it wasn’t cheap and wasn’t really up to the standard I know they usually achieve. My dessert was forgotten and I had to ask for it and when they served tea and coffee it was just put out in thermos jugs at the counter. So a lot of people didn’t even realise it was there, I went to purchase a drink and saw it there so told the rest of the table. Very disappointing.

This Is apparently a bacon and fried egg sandwich. Every time I've had an egg to take away its looked like this, not sure if that's how its supposed to be but either way it's by far the worst hot sandwich I've ever had. Shame aswell because everything else there is so nice.

Nice to come here now and again. Was surprised how busy it was . Great sandwiches with salad and crisps. Great strong coffee and pot of tea. Also a great selection of cheese and cakes plus pork pies. Loads of choice.

First time trying breakfast yesterday & all I can say is that this is the best breakfast I have ever eaten! We went for the 2 of everything breakfast but next time I will be going for the 1 of everything as it was too much. It is worth every penny & very reasonable pricing. The latte I got was beaut! We will definitely be returning! Thank you.

Purchased meal and coffee As we were cycling the WofTR we needed water, however the staff made us wait over 10 minutes as we not happy about refilling eater bottles. One staff member said you should have to pay!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable

This farm shop has a very good café. The food is excellent and the service is very good. The pies and puddings are all home made. In the shop they sell sandwiches made to order, sausage rolls, pies etc to take away for lunch. The vegetables all look very fresh. They sell a great variety of other foods & drinks too.

Stopped here when visiting the area and spotted it when we drove past. Popped in for a snack to eat before we travelled back. Ordered 2 toasties. One was cheese, ham and tomato and the other Chicken, bacon, cheese with BBQ sauce. They were really lovely. Bread was an artisan style baguette which was stuffed full of good quality ingredients and served with a really nice fresh salad and dressing (not just a pile of leaves but diced cucumber, peppers, cherry tomatoes and grated carrot). and salted crisps.

A reasonably good scone and reasonable coffee but the drinks took so long to come. Service in the food shop also not good. Would not go back.

I have been here a few times with family and have always found it very good and the carrot cake is the best that I have ever had. I went the other day and took my niece and partner. There wasn't a huge choice of cakes, which was fair enough as it was mid afternoon. It was obvious that we were spending time choosing and my niece couldn't see anything she fancied cake wise so had a biscuit. On this occasion, I didn't find the server very friendly. When we sat down, I saw another full Victoria sandwich being brought out, its a pity they didn't mention this when we were choosing. Visit was 29/07/2019

We went to the cafe to stop and have a bite to eat. We were totally confused. It was self serve when it shouldn't have been and bad signage. The product is good but meals are over priced. I would prefer either complete table service or self serve completely with one till, makes everything easier. Wouldn't go again for these reasons.

Coffee came overflowing... literally a swimming pool on the coffee plate, lady brought us 1 napkin that was not enough. Had to go over and ask for a new plate. Coffee it’s self is very average, tastes like an instant packet.

We arrived and it was not too busy, by the time we left it was certainly pretty busy. Decent menu and seems a reasonable price. 2 latte 2 teas and to large full English came to £24 so £12 each which isn't bad at all. All tasted good, the breakfast seemed good quality a d 7.99 a good price. I would say the service was a little roppy. Pleasent enough but just not as friendly as I'd expect plus we had no cutlery for example and I think we were me at to get our own... How we were to know this I don't know.

First of all, it's important to say that although we've been there a half dozen times in recent weeks, I really am only critical of the last visit. Some staff seem off-hand, certainly the lady that served us was. The pot of tea came without the lemon that we'd ordered ("well she didnt tell me you wanted lemon") - and then the teapot poured badly so we went up and asked for a serviette to be told "well we usually only give them out with food". All we wanted to do was wipe up the tea on the table. Disappointing...but I fully accept our experience probably isnt typical; just a staff member having a bad day perhaps! We didnt eat this last time so my food rating is for previous visits.

We have been to the farm shop at cranswick cafe many times now , I cannot speak highly enough of the staff always courteous and friendly , well the food is absolutely first class , well prepared , cooked and served homemade wholesome food

I fancied a ploughman's but not exactly as shown on the menu and ended up with just what I wanted.

We moved to the area a few months ago and became a loyal customers since then. Love the open plan of the cafe with a bright colours, looks clean and tidy. Food is always hot and fresh, have my own preferences. Bit on a pricy side, but definitely worth it. Good size menu to choose from. Make sure you book in advance for a lunch, cause place usually is packed. Nice touch from the management - I was buying a reduce cake to take home. Manager nicely asked me, would I like it to be replaced with a fresh one for the same price, as she could clearly see I m heavily pregnant :) nothing is too much trouble for a staff as well. Highly reccomend

no negatives regarding the café. lovely light lunch. Price of sandwiches in the shop are on the high side £2 for a bread bun and a tiny slice of processed beef. I wanted a couple of rings of onion but they were going to charge me the full add on as though I was getting full salad (lettuce/tomato/cucumber/onion which from memory was 35p. so 2 scrappy bits of onion was going to cost me 35p. The salad trays very expensive. you get lettuce/tomato/cucumber/onion/coleslaw and choice of meat. very very basic. no choice of any pasta salads or rice salads etc. Much better value to eat in, no complaints about the food and service in the café, they are all very friendly and accommodating.

Had drinking chocolate and soft drink with cheese toastie. It was approx 11am on Sunday 28th April. It order at counter and then served to you at the table. There was lots of choice and ample seating and car parking. The farm shop also had a good selection.

Come here regularly for pies, take-out sandwiches, fruit and veg, as well as the cafe. Does not disappoint. Good food and friendly staff.

Lovely and generously filled sandwiches. We visit almost every week. Recommend the Yorkshire pasties and quiches. Good value. It can get very busy at lunchtime and the queue for sandwiches long. Perhaps needs a bit of reorganisation, with most popular sandwiches ready made. Great place to visit.

Since our previous visit the service has become much more slick and we didn't have to wait long for our fare. There can be a bit of a bottleneck at the till, maybe the displays could be moved a little further along? Good wholesome food and friendly staff make for a pleasant lunch.

Stopped here for breakfast after a visit to the gym in Kingswood. No doubt put on five times the calories we'd burnt off, but it was worth it. The traditional English breakfast is excellent, served with toast as well. Service was good and the farm shop café is attractive, with magazines to browse and local art work on the walls. Will definitely be returning.

Haven’t been for a while . Stopped for lunch with my friend. Tuna and sweet corn sandwich with salad and crisps. Really tasty with plenty of filling . Great service and good coffee brought to your table.

Occasionally I visit the farm shop which sells good local produce. I wanted to visit the cafe, I did with my baby boy and Grandma. The setting of the cafe is good. We ordered tea for two, a sandwich and a toastie. After waiting a quite a while and realising other people who had ordered after us were getting their meals we asked where ours was. The girl went into the kitchen and came back and said “ sorry they are remaking it as they had made it wrong”. It would have been nice at this stage to perhaps have been offered a complimentary drink while we waited or even some extra hot water for our tea (it doesn’t come with extra hot water). The girl brought the toastie out and put it on my table, no apology for the extra waiting time.

We love coming here for breakfast! It is always tasty, high quality and nicely presented, and the farm shop cafe itself is lovely to sit and eat in- nicely decorated and clean and airy. The menu is varied and there are always specials on so it is perfect for a light bite, a hearty meal or just a slice of cake. The staff are always smiling and are friendly too.

We have wanted to try this farm shops food for a long time so we had a breakfast last week . The place is very spacious everything is clean and new looking alas the food was such a let down ... we both had the breakfast and we were most disappointed I ordered toast with my large breakfast we didn’t have long to wait after ordering when the food came I had to wait a good few minutes for my toast to arrive , when it did the lady put it down a little to quickly and it seemed to me she didn’t want to hang about as she rushed off I took one look at what she plonked on the table and shouted her back as she tried to make her escape . The problem being the toast , it wasn’t even browned it was just warm white bread with no colour whatsoever , I received four slices in all and three very small packs of catering butter , not a good start . The sausage was utterly tasteless . The bacon had not a sign upon it that it had been near a frying pan it was hard and broke up when I tried to tackle it with a knife that’s was duller than trigger ! . The tomatoes had a mild bitter taste In fact nothing on the plate did apart of course from the egg which was not at all tasty as an egg should be . The black pudding was hotter in the middle than the outer . Which suggests to me it was cooked in a microwave the mushrooms were certainly not cooked in a frying pan grease free none of the usual great breakfast smells . The tea was nice though . Am afraid I couldn’t bring myself to finish the breakfast as it did nothing at all for my pallet . After eating we had a look around the food shop particularly the savouries pies etc . The best I can say about it is that it appeared to me to be so unappealing it’s put me off going back . I realise the world as changed I remember the days when a good cooked breakfast could be had at most eatery’s that wonderful smell of bacon etc giving real aroma to get the tastebuds going . Alas that is a distant memory . If it’s got to be ping food and I know this in advance then I would rather keep my money in my pocket and enjoy my own great home cooking . Very disappointed

We came here for lunch on a recommendation and it is definitely a lovely place to eat. The food is very good, the service is very good. It was busy but we didnt have to wait long. Tea and coffee were good too. Plenty of tables and we sat by the window.

The food is nice but the service is so slow. It shouldn’t be with the amount of staff who seem to spend most of their time behind the counter rather than clearing tables, restocking cutlery baskets, having napkins available etc. A good restaurant manager is required here.

Called in on the way to the Yorkshire Cookery School for breakfast. Very good food, reasonably priced in a large airy and clean dining room. It's a shame we didn't have time for a look around the shop. Will be making a return visit. Oh and very friendly service too.

This farm shop has been renovated and it is much better now. I often go with my colleague for lunch. The sandwiches are very nice. Chicken mayo salad and Chinese chicken salad are my favourite. Their sausage roll and cheese and bacon twist are very good as well. Can be busy sometimes but it worths queuing.

I took a friend as a treat, I’ve been before so I know the food is good. The surroundings are pleasant. At busy times they don’t seem to have enough staff or it could be the systems in place that let the place down. I ordered and paid for our meals only to be told later that one of the items had run out. I feel sorry for the ladies who work hard under busy circumstances.

Very popular stop for coffees and lunches,lots of staff and tables cleared instantly,however, felt wait for simple things like pots of teas was a little too long. Prices are good,food excellent and the adjoining Farm Shop counters had lots to attract.

The staff are so friendly and there are plenty of them but so, so slow. Americano coffee tasted of watery filter. Not good. Food reasonable good and very clean pleasant surroundings.

Lovely lunch and strawberry and raspberry roulade delicious.Service very good and attached farm shop excellent will be going again.

Love the scones and coffee .Always fresh. Can’t resist buying fresh products as well ,good selection and always buy some cheese. Can’t resist.

3 adults and one under 5 called in for lunch arrived approx 14:30 few tables available so seating was no problem, food was prepared freshly so took time which was ok for us, all our food item were fery good....

Whilst the food was very nice i was made to feel like a naughty school girl by the person on the till because i dared to place my order at 11.58am when they don't start serving lunch until 12.00. She snapped at me like a rotweiller, if i visit again & am spoken to like that again i will not revisit. I did notice that obviously regular customers did not get the same treatment, some even got a hug. I probably will never experience that.

We stopped to have a drink and ended up ordering lunch! The menu is very nice, with specials on the board. We will definitely be returning.

Visiting relatives we were taken to this lovely little restaurant and enjoyed a superb lunch in nice surroundings. The food was wholesome and represented excellent value for money. A lovely friendly team who obviously enjoy their work.

Have been using the Farm Shop regularly for some years so thought we’d give the cafe a try since we have heard good reports. No complaints about the food but who is happy to sit at a table with the previous occupiers crockery and leftovers? It was busy yes but not clearing tables as a priority is a deadly sin! Yes it was evident they were short staffed but to wait 15mins to have the table cleared is not acceptable. First choice was a sandwich and a hot drink....I was informed this would take 20/25 mins, so as the choice of cakes looked inviting opted for cake and coffee. Although the cake was on the servery I was told it would be brought to the table.....25 mins later it arrived and this was after 2pm. Meanwhile the tables were not cleared and there were more dirty pots around than ever. Clearly the young waitress had had enough and was seen loitering behind the servery. I think it is essential to have a system whereby people are only seated at clean, cleared tables. The present system is not hygienic.

Lovely food in a nice environment with great staff. The food is good quality and tasty. Good selection of food with daily specials.It can get busy and if I can make a suggestion they should get the shop staff to help out with the overworked cafe staff instead of standing about, it gives a bad impression.

Got breakfast sandwiches and lunch at this lovely farm shop/cafe/restaurant for 2 days this week whilst on training with work. The food is lovely and staff are friendly and accommodating and always smiling. Nothing was too much trouble. The prices are great as are the portions size. They have lots of lovely cakes, jams and Chutneys for sale too x

Good choice of menu and good quality food at reasonable prices. Is very popular so sometimes there is a wait for food. Particularly like the pies and the cakes.

Roomy and comfortable with fresh food at a good price. Ideal for OAPs because there is easy parking and access. The OAP specials are a bargain. Tea or coffee, a main course and a dessert for just over £7. We had excellent fish cake with chips and salad plus chocolate crunch with custard. Couldn't eat anything else! My daughter had a delicious chicken salad. Service is good but the sweets were slow arriving. There are plenty of high chairs for babies. It is clearly popular and people happily return. One lady arrives thrice weekly! So good food at a good price.
