Fanny Trollope's in Glasgow City

We had dinner here in October during our visit to Glasgow. We were looking for seafood, especially scallops, and the scallops we had as an appetizer were perfectly cooked: translucent, buttery, a little sweet, prepared with an avocado and corn relish that unexpectedly yet perfectly complimented the scallops in texture and flavor. The cod we ordered was also wonderfully done, a sensory delight of flavors and textures; the wine the server recommended paired nicely with it. Dessert was delightful too. If/when we ever get back to Glasgow we'll definitely pay another visit to Fanny Trollopes.

Genuinely one of the nicest places you can visit. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff are incredibly nice (Leo was genuinely so helpful), and it’s for sure worth the price. 10/10

Went for a weekend to Glasgow with friends, chose this restaurant from Facebook. It did not disappoint!! Wonderful, tasty, well cooked food. Went again 4 days later with different friends after our first experience. Fantastic experience again!

What a fantastic little place. Top notch food and cocktails, great ambience and value for money. Hats off to the two front of house staff, both were attentive, charismatic and a little witty. Service was impeccable despite the restaurant being full. Well done chefs for getting such great looking/tasting meals on plates in such a timely manner. Staff here certainly earn their wages and tips received. Will definitely visit again and maybe I'll tease out that recipe for Fanny's Potion next time... delightful 😉 Cheers for a great night!

Always an amazing place to eat. Food is always top quality and any restrictions food wise are accommodated. Can never praise the staff or chefs higher

I was in Glasgow for a conference and didn’t fancy eating in my hotel so Googled restaurants nearby and found Fanny Trollopes. I booked a table, and glad I did, as it’s only a small restaurant and was pretty busy when I got there. The place had a lovely warm friendly atmosphere, quite loud with lots of animated conversations and laughter - a great vibe. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I had the fish of the day, sea bass, but there was plenty on the menu I could have gone for. All in all a lovely meal in a lovely, lively place. If I’m ever in Glasgow again I’d definitely go back.

Food was good enough but felt that it did not live up to expectations (5 star on TA). Modern British cuisine. It is also located a bit out of the way - but of a walk from city centre Was surprised that wasn’t as busy as it probably deserved to be. All said and done a good restaurant.

Our first visit to this small Bistro in Finnieston. Lunch menu was exceptionally good value and well presented by attentive staff member. Lovely selection of dishes with mains of cod and pork belly very tasty. Accompanied wines were reasonably priced.An enjoyable visit we will return

This place is so lovely! The food is amazing and the atmosphere, even when it's quiet is wonderful. We had starters mains and dessert and a bottle of wine for a really decent price and the staff are attentive and friendly! I would recommend this place in heartbeat for anyone looking for some really good food! We will be back next time we are in Glasgow for sure!

Oh my goodness, what a great place! The welcome and service were fantastic. The food was amazing - pork belly to die for! And the wine... yikes, sublime bottle of malbec and then merlot by the glass. Perfection! An absolute treasure to find and behold.

I'd say this is a 4 star knocking on 5 star review. The food, staff and atmosphere were great. We were a chatty party of 6 and we were not hurried to order or leave after a lovely meal. The only issue I had was that the dauphinoise potatoes were not that, what is served is essentially a very nice large chip, 4 if I recall correctly. Nice art deco US diner store decor, comfortable seats, will definitely return.

Myself and my wife had the specials on Saturday me the rib eye steak and my wife the sea bass both were excellent but pinot grigio blush was a bit of a let down for the money

We were looking for a restaurant that was recommended to us, we didn't find it and decided to go to Fanny Trollopes Bistrô, we were very well attended to and they quickly found us a table. Small but cozy atmosphere, polite people and tasty food, the starters and main courses were on point, very tasty, it was a very pleasant evening with good food, it was really worth finding this restaurant. $$

This was my first time visiting and what an amazing experience! We will definitely be returning! The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were incredible - super attentive and engaging and the food was AMAZING! The menu is fantastic and I struggled to make my choice (due to so many mouthwatering options) but eventually we chose our starter off the specials board (braised ox cheek) and followed up with the pork belly and chicken supreme! Wow Wow Wow! By far one of the best meals I’ve had in ages! When the bill came I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was for such incredible food! Can’t recommend this bistro enough and looking forward to the next time I’m in Glasgow to come back!

We had dinner here on a rainy weekday. Were treated to the best smoked salmon I’ve tasted—butter, moist and deliciously smoked—as a starter, and a marvelous meal. We had the sea bass and the lamb, and both were perfectly cooked and flavorful, with complementary sides. Just a fantastic meal.

This place was absolutely AMAZING. It was a small place, so definitely make reservations, but the food was creative and high quality and the atmosphere was delightful. Fabulous food and a very warm welcome.

Absolutely smashing place. We asked to change our booking to an earlier slot at the last minute and the team at the restaurant could not have been more accommodating. Such a warm welcome and the service throughout was exceptional. The menu is impressive with a mix of veggie, fish and meats. I plumped for the special which was the rib eye and I could have eaten it with a spoon it was so tender. This really is a top place and if I could give it six stars I would!!

Tiny place, I believe always fully booked, so booking a table in advance is a must. Service and food is great. We really enjoyed our dishes, food worth every penny.

First time here, wow, what an amazing little bistro. The food was amazing, too be honest, it is one of the best dining out experiences I have had. The staff were all lovely, attentive and first class service. If going I would certainly advise you to book, we were there on a Tuesday night and booked for 17.30, within the hour there were no tables left which in my opinion speaks volumes. Would highly recommend coming here for a superb meal.

Great little restaurant with brilliant staff.

My partner and I had a spectacular meal at Fanny trollopes, the starter of scallops was perhaps the best scallops we have ever had- the flavours were so well balanced. The steak was superb also and cooked to perfection. We felt that the atmosphere was lovely and our waiter Harry really made the experience. He went above and beyond for us and he was just a really lovely person. This was actually our last meal out in the country before we move to Thailand for a year and he made it so special! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Glasgow and 100% worth the travel if you are outwith the city!

It was great to go back to Fanny Trollope's and a big thank you to all the team for looking after us so well and, as ever, really fantastic food. Affogato with a malt whisky was a new dessert for me and one I will be having again. To add to all that, tips from the team for our trip the next day to Dunoon via Gourock. Thanks again!

We were running late so I called ahead to let the restaurant know, I spoke to Harry on the phone and he could not have been nicer. He told me not to stress and that our table would be there for whenever we got there. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel so welcome. Harry was so accommodating and friendly (also gave us a good laugh!). Our food was absolutely delicious!! I literally cannot fault a single thing we ate. Everything was so fresh and tasty! I can’t wait to go back and try more of what’s in the menu! We had a fantastic experience here and will definitely visit again!

What an amazing restaurant. We went last week for our first visit as my daughter now lives nearby. The food, the service and the ambience was amazing. It was that good we have already booked again for a couple of weeks time.

Came for dinner with some friends and received a friendly welcome when we arrived. The starters were absolutely fantastic, the scallops were probably the best I've ever had. I had the venison main which was also outstanding, but we had some issues with the steak. The steak main was £35 but did not come with sides or a sauce, it was just steak and a salad with blue cheese, which the restaurant kindly swapped out for another cheese as my friend doesn't like stilton. We asked the server for some jus which they brought over quickly, we were just surprised that a steak would be served without a sauce, especially when it was already expensive. Unfortunately the steak was also overcooked, being served medium-well rather than medium rare. The desserts were absolutely delicious and overall, we had a great experience. Would absolutely recommend, just not the steak.

A tiny,quirky restaurant with the most delicious food! A must if you are in Glasgow. The scallops on jalapeno and sweetcorn puree were the sweetest,softest I've ever had. Everything from the service, wine to the food is 100%

Have been coming here for a few years now, when we are in Glasgow and continue to be delighted with the service and the food. This time we came two nights in a row, as the menu always has plenty of delicious Scottish fare. The service from Harry and the waitress (sorry didn't find out her name) was perfect, friendly and attentive. The food was yet again perfect and beautifully cooked. Thank you to Gary, Scott and the kitchen team for the beautifully cooked and tasty food. Please never stop doing what you do, you have the perfect recipe. We will see you again in May and July.

Came here last night ( 10/2/24 ) with my wife. Couldn’t fault the experience at all. The food, staff and restaurant were all fantastic. We arrived early and finished up just as it was getting busier. A very easy 5 stars and I sincerely hope I get to go back at some point. 👍🏼

OMG! I was looking for a restaurant near the OVO Hydro and the reviews on TripAdvisor were good...they should be amazing! This was THE best Crispy Pork Belly I have ever had. It came with apple slices, jalapeño puree and black pudding. I can't take 'heat' and I'm not a fan of black pudding...the puree had just the right balance and that black pudding was phenomenal, outstanding dish! My main was the venison loin and again I wasn't disappointed, cooked to perfection I practically devoured it. I'm not a fan of desserts but after 2 outstanding courses felt it would be rude not to even look at the menu. One white chocolate and dark chocolate mousse later...I was a very happy woman. It's a tiny restaurant but you don't feel squeezed in, the background music is exactly that and we could talk easily and not overhear the next table. Get you butts to this place ASAP!

Booked for lunch during Christmas and was delighted with the range on offer. The pork belly and black pudding with a sweetcorn and jalapeno puree was inspired, as was the beef shin main. Unbeatable prices for the quality and service. Cannot recommend this place enough.
