This is just take-out. It seems everyone who orders anything in battered balls in the reviews has a tough time of it, so probably best avoid those. Otherwise, we've ordered from them regularly over the last 6 yrs, and bar one time when something was forgotten, they're always punctual, courteous and the food is nice. Lots of choice and everything's tasty (apart from, evidently, those battered ball dishes).

Absolutely shocking customer service the manager was rude arrogant and simply disgusting food was average. Late and warm. I wouldn't order from here If you value customer service or if your a woman he was a disgrace and disgusting

Delicious food. It was piping hot when we got it home. Quality ingredients, nicely cooked. It was ready and waiting for us to collect. I wish I had discovered this place years ago!

We ordered a take away from The Famous Chef today for the first time and really enjoyed our meal. The spring rolls were really big and everything was very tasty.

have avoided for two years but 'fancied' a Chinese and prepared to hope had improved. Historically has been okay. Chinese cuisine can be exquisite. This was awful. Ten times more awful than the last time I ordered. Sweet and sour pork balls. Horrible huge undercooked balls of floury batter in bread crumbs with a pea sized chewy bit of pork (or whatever). Spare ribs dried out bits of chewy bits on bone. Chicken tasteless odd texture.

Normally have Chicken curry and Sweet and sour pork and it's devine. The only downside is the waiting time at busy periods like a Friday. Overall a great chinese.

How on earth this place is still open for business I'll never know. But it is the only Chinese takeaway in Grayshott so the locals don't have much choice. The prawn balls were saturated in oil, you could squeeze the grease out onto your plate. The crispy chicken was like eating rubber (pre-frozen springs to mind) and it came with lumps of sugar granules. The singapore noodles were also greasy and weirdly had curry sauce on it. Not sure that's normal!? They even got the prawn crackers wrong, hard and brown on the edges. If you rate this more than 1 star then please venture out.

Friendly staff, amazing food at good prices! Only downside is they only open for dinner! Love the fortune cookies at the end too

My husband and I popped in and ordered a take away. The lady taking the order was nice enough. We sat down and patiently waited for our food in the FREEZING seating area, I couldn’t believe how cold that place was lol. It was not a problem but just noticeable 😊. We waited a while and then our food was ready and I have to say it was extremely good! The batter on the chicken balls was perfect and not greasy, which I have had greasy, over cooked chicken balls at other places and its really disappointing but our entire order could not be faulted! Will definitely return!

Shambles. They rarely take a name then have no idea who's is who's. Allow at least 30 minutes over the quoted time. I have never seen the girl on the till crack a smile in years! Finally gave up waiting this week, got my money back & went down the chippy. Shame, I liked the food but can't stand their inefficiency any more. Avoid!

This take away is the best around. They have a good selection of food styles. We tend to go for the same things, Singapore noodles, duck pancakes and pork curry. Always really good and consistent. The portions are generous and the containers keep the food hot. They get really busy so you can wait a while for the phone to be picked up, be patient it is worth it.

Ordered around 5:45 on a Saturday night, was ready in 15-20 minutes. Food was delicious and great hot temperature, we ordered: prawn crackers, sesame prawn toast, chicken balls, satay chicken, spring rolls, egg fried rice, chicken chow mein, scezhuan beef and chicken in black bean. Was perfect for 4 people! Would recommend, we have previously been here and got delicious duck too.

If you call in an order and say the name of the person who is collecting they don't seem to record the name. When you do go in you have to tell them what you had to be able to find the order. Process is carried out based on North Korean customer service rules. Food is ok. This is the only Chinese in the village.

Had a takeaway from here the other night. Went to order my food and the server (a young lady) could hardly address me and never raised so much as a smile. When I asked for a VAT receipt another lady there clearly showed her disapproval by rolling her eyes, huffing and puffing and pretty much stomping about getting it. The food was however good, but some lessons in customer service are needed.

We used to live fairly close and were regular customers but we moved away a few months ago, last week we were back in the area and tried there again and were disappointed. The quality and quantity of the three dishes we regularly ordered had decreased and we will no longer be customers.

Went in to get 2 items for £7 and it had been 25 mins when the adult that runs the till said 5 minutes , I asked her politely “ how long will my order be “ she turned around and reacted by saying “ durrr it’s cooking “ ( pulling a face ) I then told her to shut up and kept saying your irritating ! I’m NOT HAPPY !!!!! She’s rude her SELF

We get takeaway from here regularly and have found it to be the best one in the local area. Pricing is reasonable and orders are timely. The lady taking the orders could however do with learning a bit of customer service, she is extremely sullen and is the only negative in an otherwise good business.

Certainly one of the best of a pretty decent crop of Chinese takeaways in Grayshott/Haslemere, but in a competitive market they seem to be in danger of shooting themselves in the foot by no longer offering delivery and occasionally employing a comedically stroppy teenager to take orders and payments.

Vamos cada semana, la comida siempre es perfecto, también después de 10 minutos aún caliente a casa en coche. Mejor comida china en el país de acuerdo a mi compañero, que ha probado unos pocos lugares diferentes desde que llegan aquí. Tengo que decir que nunca he tenido una mala comida y el personal siempre muy amable.

Nunca tuvimos una mala comida desde aquí, una buena gama de opciones y no tienes que esperar mucho si no pedido por adelantado. También son adaptables y ajustaremos los ingredientes si tienes un poco quisquillosos. Es sólo para llevar y el aparcamiento está disponible en la calle o en el pub enfrente si descarado.

Famous Chef are our choice when we want a Chinese takeaway, food is usually available within 15-20 mins of calling, it's good value and more importantly we all as a family enjoy the food they provide for us, never had a bad take away yet from the Famous Chef!

I'm a regular customer possibly a weekly visitor. Staff are friendly and helpful, the food is generous and fresh. I'm not known for repeat visits at takeaway restaurants that do not appreciate the importance of customer service and quality of food.

Nosotros lo probamos, ya que era el único abierto en festivo Lunes no esperaba mucho y fue genial. La sal y la pimienta calamar era un particular relieve. Ahora es nuestro!

This used to be a lot better until it was taken over. Quite recently when we've phoned up at weekends they never seem to have a driver anymore, the phone is always engaged for at least an hour most times, I'm wondering if they keep it off the hook for a hour from 5:30pm onwards! Also on many occassions the lady answering the phone is quite rude and abrupt. However regarding the food its lovely, as good as it ever was. Just a shame we've started going elsewhere now due to the no driver on most times.

We have been using for many years always great food. The wait if not pre ordered can be lengthy but this is only due to the amount of orders in.Def try it

We order from the Famous Chef on a relatively regular basis. While the food remains consistently excellent in quality and generous in portion size, there has recently been a decline in service that is beginning to take its toll on our loyalty. Whereas up until a few months ago orders were always correct and delivered within the promised hour, we have recently experienced a near-miss on order misdelivery, a half an hour delay on top of the original hour, and - prompting this review - part of the order (half of a main meal) being forgotten altogether. On telephoning to enquire as to its whereabouts, we were first asked if we could receive it next time instead (!). Quite surprised about this - perhaps if it were a side, but not half of a main meal. We do appreciate that they are a very busy and popular restaurant and that accidents do happen from time to time, and give them credit for their courtesy in dealing with customers (on declining to receive the remainder of our order next time, we did receive it within 30 minutes with apologies), but there does come a point after enough mishaps where you reconsider ordering just in case something happens. We hesitated about posting this review since the staff are indeed polite and friendly, undoubtedly under pressure when busy, and the food is so good as others have said, but hope that it brings these minor issues to their attention so as to avoid losing loyal delivery customers who want to order but don't want the (potential) hassle.

The woman who served me was great with advice, adjusted serving sizes to suit me and the food was just fantastic. No grease on the grease paper containing the batter-chicken sweet and sour, tasty and crispy prawn crackers, again not greasy. I'll certainly be returning.

Use this on occasion have always found the service and food top notch one of the best takeaway Chinese for miles around can not really fault the spring rolls are the best I've had and all the other dishes are very good

Told us the wait would be 15 - 20 minutes, 50 minutes later our order was ready [ our order was for two people] only another couple in the queue.Pancake rolls tasted of bleach. The other food very average. There are other places that are much better.

A fantastic takeaway that can get busy but is well worth the wait...always a good sign........been customers for over 4 years and never had a disappointing meal

Really pretty good, and reliable on the quality of the food. We have yet to have a bad meal from here. Pre-ordering is essential though, to avoid what can be a lengthy delay.

A good local Chinese take away. The food is of a good quality and reasonably priced. It has all the usual dishes you would expect from a standard Chinese take away.

Simply the best chinese takeaway for miles....we discovered it by accident when we lived in Farnham and even though we have moved to the other side of Alton we still use it as our regular take-away as none nearer can match its quality

So disappointed - you really need to get your act together. We often, OFTEN get our takeaway from here. We tried phoning - several times over a half hour period - however unfortunately the phone was never answered. My other half then went to the restaurant. He was kept waiting for over ONE HOUR for a takeaway order. Each time being told it was going to be 20 minutes. There were approximately a dozen people waiting for a takeaway at this time - however my other half was kept waiting the for the longest time, even though people came in, ordered, and then left before him. Our order was only for two people! When eventually the order came and he came home much of it was cold and congealed - it was, frankly, disgusting. Horrible. If you can't deliver the goods then you shouldn't be taking the orders. Unacceptable The Infamous Chef, Grayshott. Unacceptable.

The Famous Chef is one amazing take away. Anyone who put's in a bad review does not know what they are talking about. The fiancée and me absoloute love this place and have tried other places but nothing can touch the food here. The staff are amazing, polite and extremely friendly and have time for you. They will tell how long it will be so you are not in the dark to waiting times. If you are in the town you must try The Famous Chef!Pete A

This little village takeaway... dos the best Chinese take away fo rmiles around. Quite often grab a TA on my way home from work, and despite the 5 mile drive home it is always still as tasty and hot when we reach the other end. Even when they are busy they are very polite and usually have you served and on your way within the time they have told you. If you can 'ring and reserve' it does save time. I often order at lunch time and collect when I finish work.

It is okay but not in any way exceptional.Better places around but not so close to us. Food when delivered does not feel freshly prepared.

Always end a visit to my mothers by popping here to grab us all a takeaway and it never disappoints!

Amazing Chinese food and the spring rolls are huge!!!!! No eat in option, but take out was quick and easy. Very busy place with lots of locals stopping in for take away. Not always open every night, so check schedule before getting your heart set on picking up supper!

..the egg fried rice, which is clearly bought in, contains no egg at all and is cheap and tasteless. Such a shame as it lets the overall good experience down.

The menu is extensive and the food is always good. We get take away food from here often. Never been disappointed.

It's the best of a bad bunch of Chinese take away restaurants in the area if I'm entirely honest.It's not overly greasy, no msg, sauces can be a little "samey" and tasteless at times (I think it depends who's cooking on which night), they do nice chow mien & starters although mostly deep fried are tasty. they have a good food hygiene rating, the management are always polite and smiley. Nothing amazing, but still nice to have a Chinese take away in the village if the mood strikes!
