Placed an order 40 minutes ago. Been waiting with my family and order has now been cancelled. No answer on the phone not happy at all.

We have used this fish shop again and again BUT since the new year we have NO idea when what their opening hours are. Today 18th Jan we drove past at 12.30pm CLOSED. Drove back 3pm CLOSED. Just looked at their website, says it is open ALL DAY UNTIL 9PM. We wish to use this shop, BUT WHEN ARE THEY OPEN?

First time I have used the family fish plaice (it was a Sunday feeling under the weather and didn't want to cook) three words to describe it fantastic service and delicious. Lovely fresh cooked fish, good chips x

Stopped for a quick takeaway and left praising amazing service and food. As it was quiet everything was cooked to order and we took advantage of the afternoon sun and sat outside to wait on their little patio table. Imagine our surprise when they served everything on plates with cutlery and even lemon garnishes. Fish was moist, sweet and in lovely light crispy batter and the chips weren't greasy at all. Will definitely come again next time we visit.

Since taking the place over some months ago the standard of food and service has improved dramatically and an efficient home delivery service is in place. The quality of the fish and chips have made it my first choice in the town.

Having only just moved to Oulton we have already had 5 takeaways from here. EXCELLENT! If you need a Fish & Chips Fix, this is the only place to go!

The new manager and staff are ever so welcoming and friendly the food is cooked fresh to order and is piping hot and the portion size is excellent and you can even sit in or outside and they plate it up for you definitely coming back ronnie:)

Only went in for chips, absolutely awful, cold, hard, tasted of bad oil, only stopped because we needed something to tied us over until we got home, never again, repeated on me all night, could just taste the bad oil. Avoid

Well this shop is open again and with a new owner. This time the food is great and also they do Veggie food which is music to my wifes ears... They do alot of Quorn products like chicken nuggets and battered quorn sausages which is very different and I hope they keep doing them. The fish is very fresh and cooked well. We will return again.

We used these again first time was faultless this time totally terrible my order was messed up the fish batter was doughy and the curry sauce was like soap

I just ordered from Family Fish Plaice, the driver was courteous and friendly and despite forgetting the kid's meals drinks and yoghurts, came back with them quickly. Through no fault of their own (mine in fact) I had to reorder my wife's burger meal, but I phoned thinking they had forgotten and was treated very politely and, after a quick review, I found the mistake had been mine and ordered my wife's burger meal. My baked potato was lovely and the extra cheese I ordered really was extra (nice and full now). The kids loved theirs, our eldest is autistic and is very firm in her likes and dislikes, and she practically licked the tray clean so I can definitely recommend their spaghetti bolognese! Altogether I can thoroughly recommend their delivery service, the food is great and I will definitely be using them again, although next time I think I'll order direct as website ordering doesn't seem to agree with me!

On a walk to-day I made a small diversion to give 'Family Fish Plaice' a try. I ordered a takeaway cod and chips but the obliging patron offered me the table and chairs if I wanted it to eat in. I'm glad I did the meal served on a plate with knife and fork was the best piece of cooked fish I'd had in years, the chips were superb too. Nice touches were the paper to read, paper napkins, and two pieces of fresh lemon to accompany the fish. The new owner has been there about a month and offers free delivery, reasonable prices and refund of parking costs on larger orders. No doubt in my mind he'll make a success of the business and I for one will be returning.
