Everest Curry King in Lewisham

We were planning to go to their restaurant next door, but unfortunately it was closed, so we decided to eat here and I must say this place did not disappoint. The food tasted so fresh and yum. Satisfied all of our cravings. We ended up over ordering and over eating because the food was so good. Every dish we tried was flavourful and spicy. Highly recommended if you are craving some solid Sri Lankan dishes.

Ordered from this restaurant on Deliveroo at 22:49 - they close at 11. You assume every restaurant is aware and accepts people could order right up to their close time. The order was accepted. 45 minutes pass, and Deliveroo call me. "Sorry, we are cancelling your order, the rider arrived and the restaurant was closed". Why accept the order on the system (which someone would HAVE to do or these systems automatically cancel a sent order if not accepted) when you have no intention of making it? Why leave your business for the evening with an order still pending? 1* well deserved. Now it's almost midnight and we have to find somewhere else to order from. NEVER will this business get 1 penny of our money again. Maybe you should consider if it should get any of yours.

Loved the chicken roti dish and the aubergine and mutton curry on the set menu meal, amazing food! Had a mango lassi to balance the spice, which was also delicious! Huge portions, we took some home with us. Definitely going back.

All the menu items we had were very tasty, served by a helpful and very welcoming staff. The new dining room is eclectic (swings at the bar area) but curiously charming. The menu is interesting and definitely offers a Sri Lankan flavour. Well worth a visit if you enjoy the spicier end of South Asian cuisine. Caters well for vegetarians.

Didn't like the way they put everything into one plastic small container. instead of putting curry, dahl, starter into separate containers as we were all going to share our currys but couldn't do so due to this.

The flavours were not to my liking, nor was the price nor the decor. For the price I didn't consider it good value, nor of any quality. Added service charge when clearly there is no service. Alcohol is far to expensive.

I’d recommend a set meal , for £15 it’s great value for money , I had one meat curry , two veggies , rice. My paratha unfortunately was very dry but at that cost it was fine. The cocktails were also better than I expected , I was recommended the arrak roots - it’s certainly different , and if you’re open to trying new things - give it a go! They also have a small deli next door so you can take treats home.

The gentleman serving, Ajit, was superb. Very engaging and entertaining and gave great advice on what to order. We chose well. The food was excellent - a subtle but powerful range of tastes with good, but not overpowering, fire. A great experience.

Great Srilankan food and a lovely atmosphere

Ordered lamb kothu roti, egg and fish roll, and fish roti. Excellent flavour for a very decent price!

All so tasty, really excellent Nepalese and Sri Lankan, all spiced properly, delicious.

Delicious food and generous portions (definitely one for the spice lovers!). Loads of veggie options. Good value. Great service and a lovely, clean restaurant. Will be back.

If you are a Malaysian and craving some crispy thosais/dosai this is the place to be… the sides for the dosai are so good and the dosai itself is super crunchy. Order the chai for a teh tarik substitute. Amazing restaurant with great service

i jus ordered from them on just eat and they cant even afford to give me cutlery or even tissues. some dirty animals. who do they think i am. not even rice what you want me to eat raw chicken. dont go to this place. idiots

This was my favourite restaurant when I lived in London! I will always recommend this place, the food is amazing.

Don’t go! Having been a regular take away customer here for years, I am horrified to find that Lewisham council have given this place a food hygiene rating of 1 (yes, one!) in May last year saying major improvements needed. I can’t see evidence of anything has changed other than price increases. I value my health too much to risk going here again. Should be closed down until said improvements are made!

Prices have risen beyond acceptable level for this type of diner. Regrettably won't be going back. There are many cheaper equally good options elsewhere. Many regulars will be looking elsewhere. Noticed that a Guardian review last year preceded this unreasonable price rise.

Arrived at 21h45 when hours were listed as closing at 23h. We were refused service. Hours should be updated to reflect the clearly inaccurate information as we had planned our entire evening around the listed opening hours.

We'll definitely be back! With friends next time to order yet more mountains of delicious Sri Lankan yummies. Thought it looked a bit expensive. Silly me! Ended up with a well stocked doggie bag that delivered three more generous servings!

Unique and tasty dishes. We tried new to us cousine and tgis place didn't disappoint us. It was delicious.

The food is not bad, this place even features a great outdoor seating area although the first section is a bit small and cramped. However for a regular meal of ok tasting Sri Lankan food it can be a good option.

Great restaurant! We enjoyed the food and the service was good, I asked for some extras and they happily brought them. There was a nice selection and the menu is set up in a way where you can try multiple curries in one meal which is great. We liked the decor. Would recommend.

Exquisite food, the very best Sri Lankan I ever had. Ever!

Absolute rip off! No value for money 15 quid for a box of liquid that resenbles a lamb curry that's got 2 bits of meat in it & x2 mutton rolls! No rice, vegs or poppadoms & yogurt an this is called a meal... An as I'm eating my curry with a spoon I'm finding more leaves an cloves etc than anything else terrible, shame because just to use all the time being so close but it's just not good enough now!!

Food is great, lots of choice - starters and variety of curry is great, all at fair price (not particularly cheaper than other options, as before). Service could be much better though - regularly having to wait for over 15mins for takeaways having phoned ahead before collecting. Food is then served cold, no receipts or takeaway menu available.

My partner and I went for lunch on Diwali day and they were so lovely. The service was very personable and the restaurant had a "family home" kind of vibe. The uncle serving us was lovely. Mutton rolls were amazing and a must have, spring hoppers with your choice of curries were great too. It's the family food touch that makes this a great place.

Amazing food with an island vibe! Every dish was well put together and had a unique taste. The outdoor seating area feels like you have been transported to a beach! Will definitely be back for more!

Food is amazing. Very nice fish curry and mutton roll. They have recently opened a fancier restaurant next to the takeaway one with a very nice decor.

Been going here for years, the food is amazing and if you like hot stuff (or milder things) then they’ve got you covered. My favourite is the vegetable or lamb choff, a deep fried potato croquette that’s just amazing. They have a cafe or more formal dinner seating, prices are reasonable and portions are huge.

Lovely place, delicious food. Presentation was exceptional. Clean environment. Great place for a date Owner was so welcoming. Had the chefs special ‘bone marrow’ everyone should try it!!

The rice and curry was poor value at £13. Dosa was passable, not crispy enough. The coconut chutney tasted a bit off. Would not recommend it to my friends. Not quite the same experience as Jay Rayner's.

Incredible. A mixed box of veggie curries and a mutton roll will make you very happy. Aubergine curry is excellent. Not tried new restaurant next door yet but imagine food is the same as takeaway and it’ll be great!

Everest Curry King has been around for a while as a counter service place, but we ate in the new restaurant area, which I assume the owners saw the opportunity to expand into after Chicha left the scene. This is way better than Chicha! The service was friendly and professional and the set meals where great. I particularly liked the chilli paneer and the spicy mutton curry (which is definitely spicy). We'll be back!

Best Sri Lankan food in London imo. Spicy fish sprats are so good!

This is food counter and a set of 5tables place. Small not very clean. However the food tastes OK. Sambar just vegetables tossed in and not well made. If are in urgent need of South Indian/ Sri Lanka food try this place. Got some 4 dosas and some small eats like Vada, cutlet rolls cost £40. Is it worth it. No not for me , guess blame it on inflation and Covid.

Hands down the best curry I have ever eaten in London. On top of that, the service is incredible, the vibe is cozy and friendly, and the prices are affordable. Do yourself a favor and come dine here!

Its a small takeaway box of lamb curry which costs me 9 pounds. From the look of it I think its expensive and not competitive to other takeaways shops in that area. However wow it is so delicious that I can tell it worths every penny. Surprisingly the box is full of meat without any big portions of vegetables. I can only finish half of it with rice as its very spicy to me. Definitely I will visit them again for a less spicy version.

Bought mutton rolls they seem to have got a bit smaller since the last time I was there. Still delicious though. Will be back soon.

Love this place The food is amazing. Rice, vegetable or plain with either 1 meat and 3 veg or 4 vegetable curries. The aubergine is MEGA! The beet is incredible. Generous portions. If you eat in you can bring your own beer!

Had an enjoyable meal at Everest. The food was delicious with a good menu choice. It was rather busy and the owner tells us they plan to expand and have and dining area next door which is fantastic.

Best Srilankan food in south east London

Wow they did not call themselves the curry king for nothing!! Worthy of royalty - the food is incredibly tasty and it's so cheap!! The mutton roll is to die for and the kothu is tasty af. I cannot recommend this more, I'll go back again and again until I am no more. Don't order through uber eats, or whatever the kids are using nowadays, give them a call or go there in person and it'll be even cheaper!

Absolutely delicious. Set meals are a brilliant idea... an affordable way to try out a variety of dishes without breaking the bank. South Asian restaurants take note.

My review is long, long overdue. I’ve lived in the area almost 3 years now and one of the absolute highlights of it, no, of south london, is this place. It’s homely, unique Sri Lankan and South Indian take is sublime and reliable to say the least. Locals and those going well out their way to get here have loved and cherished this place for over 20 years. It’s an institution. Extremely affordable considering the quality and portion sizes. But my recommendation? Get a veggie box meal and have the essential paneer and aubergine curries (both the popular choice and house choice) and accompany it with grated coconut red and green sambals (you have to ask for it behind the counter) and the fish and boiled egg samosa. It’ll only be around £12 and yet you’ll have enough for 2 meals.

It used to be cheap, now the meal deal with rice and a selection of curries all in one plate costs 13 pounds when eat in... Masala dosa also at 8 pounds, the taste was very good but not the cheap snack it used to be. Nice lady serving.

This place is amazing! I love the food there, it is really tasty, good and affordable. The lamb kothu roti is my favorite so far but the vegetarian dishes are great too. I really highly recommend this place.

Best place for South Indian and srilankan food in Lewisham area. Their biriyani is really good and the quantity is also quite good. They have a lot of options to choose from. They also have snacks like cutlets and other Indian snacks which is really nice. They have a good selection of veg and non-veg dishes.

To be honest this was such a terrible experience especially since I feel as if I have not be given my money’s worth. First of all we had ordered several different curries and rice which had been squeezed into three containers altogether which is absolutely shocking since there are people with allergies plus I have never experienced a restaurant that tries and scams people out of money by squeezing food together. Very disappointed.

I've been stopping in here for about 15 years or more. Whenever I'm nearby. The mutton rolls are epic. If eating in, the portions are great. Most curries pack a decent spice kick, in true Sri Lankan style. Not for the generic palate. The aubergine veg curry is to die for. Excellent vego options as well as plenty for Flexi and Omnis. The Kottu is fiery and delicious if you can handle it. It's jazzed up over the years, but the food is still good value. And the family who run the place are very pleasant folks. Not fancy... Just bloody tasty.

The food has all the Indian subcontinent flavours you're looking for! The serving size is generous and the pricing is reasonable. The place can get busy during evenings and you might have to queue up but it's fast moving. Totally worth the wait and the staff is very friendly. Will recommend their set meal and kothu roti.

Proper authentic food been around for long time .

Wow. I walked past this place a hundred times before trying it and was blown away. Authentic Nepalese and Sri Lankan recipes that are perfectly spiced, lovingly made and very reasonably priced. And service comes with a big smile. Do give it a try. You won’t regret it.

My mate told me about this restaurant about 1 week ago and so I decided to give it a try for myself and let me tell you something...the food was out of this world,when I say it was greeseless the chicken Biryani had so much flavour and the lamb curry was soft not to spicy and just made me feel special when I was eating it 🥰 then the onion bargy that was in a league of its own (yummy) I'd definitely give this an 11/10 Also the lady who served me she was so sweet and caring so thank you to your whole team ❤ I will definitely be coming back for more also the price was spot on.

the customer service was terrible. they do not listen to you and there was this woman who kept repeating the same thing over and over. After talking to them for almost 5 mins, an old lady came (who I assume was the manager or owner). I explained the problem to her once and she solved it right away.

Excellent spicy cuisine, with an enormous variety of vegetables, meats and fish. Service is very friendly, and price is very cheap for such high quality food. Amazingly, the place looks like a humble little cafe.
