Good food served by really lovely staff and dog friendly! Great breakfast spot.

It was not a particularly pleasant morning for me and my friend. My friend ordered a cheeseburger and found the meat lacking in juiciness, with hardly any cheese flavour. I had a bite as well and could only taste a burnt flavour from the meat. I ordered the mushrooms on toast. Although I found it quite salty, I understand that taste is subjective, so it was still acceptable to me. Out of the three dishes we tried, the fried chicken burger was the best, but overall, it was nothing remarkable.

Waited 45 minutes for mediocre food . Breakfast came out burnt and inedible

French toast was rock hard and granola was very salty. Staff were nice.

Excellent and what can we say about the skate with pepper sauce, a delight! Go there with your eyes closed despite the prices :)

Initially I had chosen to dine at Evelyn’s due to the substantial positive reviews and the fact that they serve halal meat. There was a queue in front of us, lone diners and 2 groups of 3. Me and my friend were seated on the windows 3 minutes after entering the bustling restaurant. There was a nice uplifting vibe at Evelyn’s and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. There was a full house and 2 waiters who were working ever so hard at midday. The staff were very helpful, assisted us with choosing our order. They also provided a fast and efficient service. I ordered mint tea and shakshuka with the optional extra of a lamb sausage. The mint tea was as expected; piping hot and I got about 3 cups out of the tea pot. This was the 2nd shakshuka I have ever had, and this was definitely a proper shakshuka. The tomato sauce was piping hot with a perfect consistency. The egg was cooked to perfection and had a dippy yolk. The feta cheese added a touch of creaminess to concoction. The lamb sausage along with the chickpeas and lamb sausage both had a light kick of chilli and were a lovely source of protein. The thick sliced bread was toasted and buttered just right snd perfect for dipping. Happy days. I will definitely be back again to try other items on the menu.

Lovely restaurant , cosy, amazing decorations, Turkish eggs so delicious and juice (orange, carrot and ginger ) so refreshing. Bit overpriced but okay.

Server took too long to approach us and take our order. No name given, no welcome, 10 minutes for a jug of tap water. Food arrived but no drinks. Had to chase up and still had to wait… No apology received. No check backs on food or drinks. Food was okay but nothing more than mediocre. Wouldn’t return !

The food was lovely but the real highlight was Jason! Made us feel so welcomed and was very attentative to our table despite there being 12 of us. ❤️ Will be back!

- Good service but make sure you book in advance. - Nice decor and Ambiance - what lacked for me was the food. I was quite disappointed with the Sunday roast. The lamb roast a whopping £22 meal definitely disappointed it was slimey tough and didn’t actually have much flavour to it I only managed to have two bites of it and left the rest. The other parts of the roast were good but average.

Tom and Jason were excellent. We had a beef burger and a shakshuka with fries as a side dish as the burger came solo. The portions were on the small side, just enough for us to share. The place was quite busy but the staff did very well

Everyone ignore Unholys cretinous review from 2 years ago about the shakshuka. That individual is clearly a shakshuka novice. Mmmm yeah shakshuka yeahr

Lovely- went for a roast dinner on sunday- chef was amazing- really nice food! Thank you!! feedback would be the- music was sooo loud, didn’t really suit the atmosphere of the restaurant, staff were okay, little bit stand offish, not super accommodating, but not rude at all, could work on their hospitality service a lot! Staff asked if our food was ok, we said the beef was a bit chewy and the ice cream was horrid (vegan ice cream) they didn’t really do anything about it so don’t really understand why they asked if it was ok haha, but would come back again because the food was amazing- beef was chewy, but thats beef, it’s difficult sometimes :) solid 4 star review

Well, what a brunch that was. Amazing food, comfy atmosphere and we had a nice orange, carrot, and ginger juice.

Went to make a reservation on their website and in bold letters it says “BRUNCH - WALK-INS ONLY” … fine … so we travelled to the restaurant for brunch , but on arrival they asked if we had a reservation, no because your website told us in capital letters that its walk in only , no reservations for brunch … but apparently on one day each week they don’t take walk ins, despite their website & despite Googles info it’s reservations only so they turned us away… They should fix the website to save inconvenience to other customers Editing to add that the restaurants message here on Google (as of 30/3/25) also confirms that it’s supposed to be walk ins only until 5pm … no where on Google does it say reservations for brunch one day a week.

Came here for lunch with a friend over the weekend, it was delicious. Look forward to coming back for the shakshuka or dinner.

What an amazing little place! Ok, not so little but the atmosphere is so warm and cozy! Enjoyed some delicious "Turkish eggs" and orange detox juice. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend!

So disappointed in the Sunday lunch. The 2 slices of lamb were ok but it had gristle and I don’t want to chew my meat like a wine gum, the roast beef was much better. The Yorkshire pudding and gravy were very tasty as were the carrots however the paid side of cauliflower cheese would not be ordered again. The roast potatoes were not hot thank heavens for the warm gravy. I was looking forward to this place because of the rave reviews maybe it was an off day. As for the toilets they were disgustingly bad, sink filthy with toilet paper all over the floor, this is unacceptable, one but can’t help think how clean is it behind the scenes. I’m sure they won’t be concerned by one bad review but I will not be recommending this place. The food unmemorable, best thing was the conscientious staff.

Quick trip to Manchester and stumbled across this place. Had a feast of a brunch and the food was delicious although the fried chicken sando was just a bit too salty but that’s minor. The atmosphere here is what makes it - a great place for a date or even just for breakfast and the service just adds on to make it fantastic, our waiter was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The 3/5 for food - it's just a bit bland and 'ok' and plays it all very safe for a large price tag... Very happy we had the February discount as it makes us reconsider coming for dinner. Cocktails are just as good as there downstairs bar Evelyns. The burnt leek is outrageous for the price charged... it's just a bit of leek on a plate for £10.

Jason is an absolute star, bringing such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to the restaurant. He is very attentive and makes certain that you have everything you need. I used to live in Ancoats a few years ago and I remember him being at Evelyn’s, it’s pretty rare to have a familiar face in a NQ restaurant! After I made a mix up with the booking he was so lovely, so I’m here to show my appreciation, thank you for all your hard work xx

Very nice restaurant near Picadilly Gardens in Manchester. A bit hidden but very cozy. Good music, nice interior design. The food was very good, fresh, quick and very tasty. Recommended.

Went to Evelyn’s for my birthday meal on Friday night. The service was brilliant and the food was fresh, good quality and tasted amazing. There was a 50% off bottles of wine deal on whilst we were there so the meal was reasonably priced - definitely recommend!

Hip spot and great service- everything we ordered arrived so quickly! Smaller tapas style plates- perfect for ordering a few and sharing with all. Everything we ordered was amazing- loved the hummus & fluffy pita, the tuna crudo and fried chicken!

Warm, cozy and nice place for eating and passing some time with loved ones. The place is well decorated. Food is delicious and nicely presented with a lot of textures. The staffs are very cordial. I wish they would offer welcome drinks. The food price is reasonable. Recommended.

Small plates and portions for breakfast, I ordered granola as I wasn’t that hungry and it came in a shallow bowl which was basically a saucer. My friend got the Turkish eggs which arrived again on a strangely small plate and just didn’t feel like much love or care went into it. Incredibly average despite prices and queues out the door all morning.

Pretty solid food if you choose the better ones but u need to eat minimum of 2 portion of each food because it's served in small plates with like no sidedish. Waiting time for dish is around 20min which is okay, but not for small plates... i think this is more like for bunch of guys eating from 3-5 small plates and sharing food each other with some Wine or drink and not for 2 guys like in basic restaurant. Staff was okay they cared about us.

We had a lovely brunch at Evelyn’s. The staff were fantastic, and Kayane looked after us well. Highly recommend the mushrooms on toast with baba ganoush.

Service was a bit slow, though the staff were friendly. The Bloody Mary had too much gochujang for my taste, which threw off the balance. The food was just okay—nothing really stood out. Not sure I’ll be back anytime soon.

Always a queue to dine here because it is so good. The staff are super friendly and helpful and are considerate keeping those outside queueing up to date with wait and food prep times. All freshly cooked ingredients and health too. I sat opposite the kitchen and all the food was well presented. Chef wad amazing given the amount of covers and was well organised and dextrous! I had the ECB breakfast and my husband the shakshuka with added Halloumi. Staff ask re allergens and offer alternative products... highly recommended.

Tom was fantastic! Has the best meal and drinks and he was unreal, showed us the menu in detail and was so helpful!

Our food was incredible and the restaurant is lovely, but out experience was made so much better by our server tom, he talked us through the menu and was really friendly and attentive and made the experience even better. I would recommend evelyn’s to anyone who likes food

If we come to Manchester and not have Breakfast at Evelyn’s thats not possible This cafe is our regular spot every time we come to Manchester and they provide Halal option which is best thing about them their food we have tried different things from the menu each time and it didn’t disappoint us at all

Fast service, friendly staff. We had the ECB Breakfast: full English with a Middle Eastern twist. I also recommend the 0% martini cocktail…a lovely preprandial palate-cleanser.

Evelyn's has far exceeded my expectations! Super friendly and attentive service. They recommended the fried zucchini and I can confirm that this dish is from another planet! The fried chicken panatura is amazing. And if you still have room and you are a sweet tooth, chocolate cremeux is a safe bet. Aahh! Another thing that I really liked is that they play music in the background, creating a super pleasant atmosphere. Quite reasonable quality/price. Good option to go for "tapas" with some friends and try various things.

The dinner menu was truly exceptional. The scallops were exquisite, and the fried courgette was sublime. While the roasted cauliflower was pleasant, it was the labneh and peanut tahini that truly captivated my palate. The service was outstanding, though the timing of the dishes could have been better coordinated; they arrived as soon as the chef finished preparing them, which slightly disrupted the harmony of the food pairings. The ambience was delightful, with warm, inviting lighting that created a perfect atmosphere. However, the tables were placed quite close together, making private conversations a bit of a challenge. The overall experience was unforgettable. The explosion of flavours and the innovative culinary combinations reignited my passion for dining out, reminding me why I love exploring new food experiences. It was, without a doubt, a truly memorable evening!

I had high hopes for this restaurant but unfortunately it ended up being one of the worst meals I have had. While the space itself is quite nice, the food and service left a lot to be desired. Our meal arrived cold and the fries were mostly oil, which I had to return. The rest of the food was unseasoned, making for a bland and disappointing service. The front of house staff were rude, which only made things worse. Definitely not worth the visit.

Wow !!! I couldn’t recommend Evelyn’s more, everything was brilliant. The food was unreal, we had hummus, fried chicken, sea bream, ceasar salad and the star of the show was the lamb chops! Flavours and portion size were so good. The service was also amazing, Tom was our waiter and he was so attentive - we’ll be back ✨

Great location slap bang in the middle of the northern quarter, this cosy modern cafe is warm and inviting - Think garden room meets pale boho styling. The service was very friendly, quick and no items missing from the menu. The dining area wasn't too crowded or noisy with easy listening background music. The menu was not overly complicated with good ingredients favoured in place of a vast selection. The bar is pretty well stocked. We tried the lavender lemonade which was silky yet refreshing. Overall feel; cosy and soft with a light warm glow, relax and unwind in style. In a word; homely

Stopped by for a Bloody Mary, the mushrooms on toast & a flat white this Tuesday. Each item was delicious but this is a special shout out for the EXCEPTIONAL service. Easy to impress once but to consistently impress on every visit is a huge credit. Amazing work guys, looking forward to the next trip already!

Preciosa comida, desayuno fresco, caliente, creativo. Teníamos la tortita, shatshuka y un plato de setas vegetales. Todos estaban contentos con el artículo elegido. Tamaños de porción generosos. Llegamos alrededor de las 9: 30 un sábado y tuvimos una breve espera, aunque nos dijeron 30 minutos para una mesa cuando hicimos la primera fila. Había un grupo más grande de 12 en ese momento y pensé que hicieron un buen trabajo haciendo un seguimiento de otras mesas al mismo tiempo. Claramente muy popular - la fila para una mesa estaba en la puerta cuando nos íbamos.

Esto fue elegido como estar a poca distancia de donde nos alojábamos (y eso fue un regalo de Dios después de un viaje en tren cargado). Muy buenos puntos; la comida, el servicio y una vista de la cocina. Los platos se describen como 'no tapas realmente' siendo un poco más grandes. Pedimos 5 y eso fue bastante fácil. Excelente relación calidad-precio Menos bueno; tal vez deberíamos haber preguntado esto, para usar las mismas placas laterales para todos los platos.

Breakfast is available until 3 pm I got meat from them and it is one of their famous dishes, very nice We took lamb was amazing and nice.

We booked a table at 8:15pm on the 16th January. We arrived 5 minutes early for our table and our table wasn’t ready, instead of letting us sit at the side as there is no bar and we would have had a drink at the bar we were just stood like lemons in the restaurant with basically every diner looking at us. We had left a note on our booking saying bringing the dog, as they are dog friendly! We were finally seated, don’t give us a booking if the table isn’t ready or you don’t have a table for us. We were finally seated at 8:20. And left standing like idiots in the cold for 10 minutes, might not sound a lot but we were literally in the way and looking at everyone, coats on and dog in hand. Anyway, we sit down 3 seconds into getting the table, I was taking my coat off, and the manager comes across and extremely rudely tells me she can’t have a dog on the furniture. Our dog is an extremely well groomed toy maltipoo that was wrapped in a blanket, I was taking my coat off to then put the blanket on the floor for him to sit ON THE FLOOR. I wouldn’t ever let my dog sit in my place for dinner??? I was so shocked that you would advertise dog friendly, you could clearly see us stood there for quite a long time for me to sit down for 3 seconds to take my coat off and be told off by this awful manager. I was so annoyed I could have left then and there however we had booked and we do like to support hospitality in the city, and we had to give our card details to book the table so would have been charged for being spoken to like a child if we did leave. So we carry on with our dinner, and the food was vile. No salt on anything, the leeks, I have no words for how bad they were, the texture and then the dirt that was not washed off was too much. We are vegetarian and we tried every vegetarian dish and wish we hadn’t. There is no protein in any of the dishes for vegetarians and no complex carbs just vegetables, because we’ve not evolved in vegetarian cuisine. Don’t go here, rude, bad food and certainly not dog friendly. My dog sat on the floor on his blanket the whole meal and you wouldn’t have even known he was there. What a waste of an evening.

Éramos un grupo de 4 incluyendo 2 vegetarianos. Toda la comida era genial según todos los informes, pero las verduras definitivamente se robaron el espectáculo. Mi esposo que no es vegetariano dijo que el plato de puerro y la coliflor eran sus favoritos de toda la comida. No pude elegir porque me quedé boquiabierto con toda la comida vegetariana, estaba deliciosa. Placas pequeñas para compartir funcionaban bien. El personal era genial y teníamos servidores muy amables. Realmente no podría fallar, aunque sería la guinda del pastel si pudieras comprar un libro de recetas.

The best cappuccino I’ve had in Manchester during my short trip! Also the Vietnamese Ice Coffee was worth a try. The ambiance is beautiful and inviting—absolutely worth a visit. 5/5 stars!

Recommend in an online article when we're looking for a place for a weekday brunch. Seated quickly, well designed interior, food and hot drinks served quickly, ordered the evelyn cafe bar breakfast and the chicken egg bun, both delicious, excellent customer service, highly recommend, we will return later in the year.

It was nice and cozy, welcoming staff. The only one think is that i ordered i a decaf coffee but i guess they forgot to serve it decaf

Basura absoluta. Tenía pescado con papas fritas y una cerveza. Muchos peces pasaron por debajo del puente desde la última vez que se cambió el aceite. Un pez dorado habría avergonzado al bacalao dado lo pequeño que era. Esperamos 45 minutos para la comida y literalmente las únicas cinco personas en el lugar. Sigo escuchando cómo ha mejorado la cocina en Inglaterra en los últimos años. Bueno, todavía no puedo encontrar comida decente por un buen precio. Y todo esto por el precio obsceno de 28 libras por persona. Basura absoluta basura.

I recently visited Evelyn’s in Manchester and enjoyed their vegan zattar mushrooms. The dish was flavorful and well-prepared, making it a solid option for vegan diners. However, I was a bit disappointed that the vegan version is priced the same as the regular option, even though it doesn’t include the egg. Adjusting the price to reflect the reduced ingredients would be a fair improvement. That said, Evelyn’s is a lovely spot to catch up with a friend, especially in the colder months when its warm and cozy atmosphere is particularly inviting. Despite the pricing quibble, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Usually long queues for brunch but the wait was worth it! Lovely atmosphere and amazing food. Staff was friendly too. Must go place for brunch when in Manchester

2025 update: I'd forgotten how lovely this place is and it's still fantastic for gluten free! Really atmospheric and relaxing. 2021: Fantastic food and understanding of gluten free food suitable for coeliacs! The cocktails are divine and the food is first class!

We didn't get a chance to try the food because my husband and I, along with another walk-in couple, were left waiting at the entrance despite two tables being perfectly available. We were not given any explanation for this behavior, so we decided to leave. The service was terrible. If you want to stay in the doorway and watch other people eat, this is the place for you

Kayane, Ines and Lukacs looked after us for our anniversary and were fantastic. The standard of service from these guys was incredible and the food was brilliant. We were at Evelyn’s for our anniversary and couldn’t recommend it more! The team and the food are equally amazing, it’s definitely worth a visit!!

The Honey brioche, Chicken sando were lovely! But the shashuka and rose & cardamon coffee were a tad disappointing! The egg in our shakshuka was overcooked and the tomatoe & beans mixture and sausages were very bland and cold!. We were asked if we wanted to the entire dish changing or a poached egg only, we opted for the latter as our son was hungry after waiting 30 mins but the pooched egg didn't taste the same and spoiled the dish. But the staff were great!

What a pleasant Wednesday night dinner. We had no wait and the service and food was excellent and on time. We were told the dishes are smaller and for sharing. Although the sizes were much bigger than the Spanish tapas style. The 3 of us shared 3 meat dishes, sea bream and sumac chicken and lamb chops. We shared 3 veggie dishes, the courgette, leeks and cauliflower. Also, the two desserts they offered were delicious.

Excellent service and the food was spot on. Came in on a Saturday evening. Still got a table by the window. Very cozy. Staff was incredibly helpful and lovely. Great recommendations. Perfect if you looking for a couple of drinks and a snack after a show.

We had fish & chips and the house salad. Both good. But the pancakes were particularly good! Never eaten anything so fluffy. Really great!

I would not recommend booking here. We came to Manchester on a weekend away and liked Evelyn’s as they offered a roast lamb dinner (despite the poor reviews of the roast potatoes). We booked for 11.45 (menu said Sunday lunch started at 12 so thought we’d have a drink, starter etc). When we were there we were told we only had the table for 1h 10m despite the booking portal stating 1.5hrs (see attached picture)… we were told the roast would take 20 minutes to arrive so we’d have to eat within 20 minutes! Needless to say we didn’t agree and swiftly left. The venue was busy, and it seems they have influencer’s who promote the restaurant, but the tables were very tightly packed together, and definitely gave more of a ‘greasy spoon cafe’ than a restaurant. I won’t be visiting here again.

We went in today with a reservation. We ordered at 1230, and food did not arrive until 130, a shocking hour later. I ordered the 12 pound brioche, which is essentially a single piece of hard bread with strawberries and whipped cream - possibly the most disappointing brunch dish I have ever eaten and paid for. All of us were shocked at the quality and quantity of this. The meat portions on the very pricey 22£ roast were very small. I’m not sure how a restaurant can justify 60 minutes for a carving of roast that would have to be prepped before hands, a single slice of bread with whip cream and an avocado toast - I can cook an entire roast dinner for a family of 6 in 45 minutes without prepped ingredients, a commercial kitchen and multiple kitchen staff. We were apologised to for the wait several times, but then found it shocking that the waitress came to the table with the service charge on and said “split four ways, yeah?” which then made it awkward for us to tell her our exact amounts. Ironically, only then, after realizing she wouldn’t be getting a service charge were we suddenly asked “if everything is ok” after leaving us with unfilled drinks for an hour, no explanation and no apology.

Waited 30 mins for a table, ordered flatbreads/hummus… one was warm and one was stone cold? Mains I had burger, so so mediocre and the burger patty was dry/unseasoned and kind of chewy. Salmon/eggs Benedict with toast, needed a chain saw practically to cut the toast. Massively overhyped and couldn’t understand the queue?

As a group of 5 people for dinner, we ordered 2-3 dishes each. Some of them were lovely (Sumac Chicken) but some were very average (Cheeseburger). I understand the whole ‘the food will come out when it’s ready’ thing, but 4 of the 5 had received and eaten all of their dishes before a very poor cheeseburger and fries came out - and to make it worse it wasn’t even hot. Then after that a Caesar salad (which surely must be the quickest/easiest thing to make!) and the place was, at best a 1/3rd full. I didn’t want to make a fuss as it was my daughter’s choice for her birthday. Very disappointed in the food, so won’t be going back, as for £230 for the meal/drinks it’s fair to say, it’s reasonable to expect an excellent meal.

I visited twice, recommended it to friends, who also returned a second time for more. It's a warm space, plants all over, good food and drinks, real brunch stuff from shakshuka to pancakes to brioche to eggs Benedict to steak and chips. Coffee, macha, hot chocolate, juices. I loved it there. I have an almond allergy: their allergy info is very good! Charts with many allergens per dish or ingredient, and they went as far as to not give me the chickpeas on a meal because of how they were cooked, which was a shame, but it wasn't my time to die. Just goes to say they were very conscious of the fine detail and people's needs. The mushroom is cooked with almond, which was likely the contamination concern, though I did not ask further.

I’ve been coming to this cafe ever since 2017 . Nothing changed, great food and amazing service. My absolute favorite is the pancake and Jason J is the best waiter ever, great attitude , always smiling and very quick with the service.

The food is not wow. Could be more seasoned. Portion is also rather small. Very friendly staff and fast service. The 45 minute long waiting line was in my opinion not made up for by the food. Very unfortunate.

The food was excellent and the service perfect, we met a lovely waitress with whom we were able to chat. I highly recommend this place! The setting is also exceptional and being able to see in real time what is being prepared for us is fascinating. It was a great time :)
