Why did this place take an on line booking, confirm it,, AND NOT Tell us you were CLOSED!!!! Angry. Cost us a taxi fare and a ruined evening

Closing today for good. Demolition will go ahead I think. Very sad. First a pub with a great garden, then an expensive and not so great restaurant. Et Alia in recent years has been favourite place to go and it'll be sorely missed

My boyfriend and I visited Chester for two nights and both nights we visited Et Alia at the Red House. For the price we paid, the food was outstanding and delicious. We didn’t want to leave so we ended up getting dessert which was amazing. The staff were so welcoming and accommodated us even though, on the second night, it was incredibly busy and we did not have a reservation. A staff member named Phillippe was particularly lovely and we’d like to thank him and all the staff!

Our favourite restaurant in Chester, we dine here most weeks. Fantastic setting on the River Dee with stunning views of the city skyline, A great venue with really friendly attentive staff and service. The food is excellent, we especially like the pasta and pizza dishes. The upper floor has good disabled access. Unfortunately the restaurant will be closing at this location in the NY, we sincerely hope that when the team relocated to new premises it will be in the Chester area and we can continue to visit regularly.

Just stunning! Amazing service, beautiful restaurant and have forgotten how superb the food is! I’d thoroughly recommend this fantastic restaurant. Why do we even tho k about going elsewhere? This is my new favourite! Definitely on a par with Made in Italy and perhaps actually a bit better!! Love it!

We go regularly. Always a great experience. Lovely location in banks of river dee so we can watch boats sailing (or rowing) up and down. Had many things off menu - always been great. Always nice, fresh tasting hot meals. Must also mention the service/staff are very professional, friendly and welcoming. .

Where do I start with the positives, great location / outlook, great food, great service / staff. Parking may be a challenge but don't let this put you off since there appears to be enough roadside parking to cope. If you've never been before than I'd recommend this establishment either for couples or family groups. We went on a wet afternoon about a week ago and the outlook was still good, with a riverside location and outside tables etc then on a fine day then this eatery is a must.

Very good service, food and value for money we will definitely be returning! My father had the soup and the seafood linguini and I had the calzone, both recommended. Enjoy

Firstly, let me say how lovely the meal itself was. Wonderful food for sure. It's just a shame we were let down by some incredibly slow and inadequate service. 3 hours for a 2-course meal- we actually had to cancel out desserts and go to the desk to pay because it had been over a half hour for them and we needed to leave. It felt like we kept getting forgotten about. Even our drinks were slow and the venue was really empty. Finally, and this for me is the deal breaker, not one member of staff, regardless how friendly they presented themselves, not a one offered any sort of apology for the delay, not a simple we're sorry, is that so hard? it goes a hell of a long way to how your guests feel when they leave, but they couldn't bother to say two words, or simple didn't care? Not even for the mistake made to one of our meals. Really such a shame, so much potential and a nice meal just let themselves down on the night.

Having come to the restaurant for the first time with the family and a young child 2 1/5 yer old.We had ordered food and and the meal in total took two and a half hours to come.We asked three times for the child’s ice cream to come and it was ignoredNot the we were complaining on our service but the table behind also had your children and themselves had to complain and ask why they haven’t received food.Nice setting, nice food when it came but the worst service I’ve received from all the places we have eaten.Will not be returning again and the service side of this place takes some training and development to say the least.Then the cheap tia so for a service charge on the bill at the end !!
