Esk Valley Table Table in Midlothian

Inexplicably just stopped being a restaurant. Can't find anything about it online. Open but for what purpose I don't know. Now the guests at the associated premier inn next door have nowhere to eat. We were regulars and it was great to have somewhere affordable and reliable to get a meal. We are owed an explanation.

Visited as working on site from Midlands for the week Mon-Fri. Each night in attempting to dine was greeted by a sign informing me to wait to be seated. Each night waited at least 10-15 mins whilst staff members laughed and jested from bar/kitchen area. On the Tuesday came in for a drink shortly after finishing work duties to then have eyes rolled by what I assume is the manageress and slammed my drink down on the side. Staff are rude and seem like it's too much to ask when visiting. Shame really as it's a lovely place and location.

We have eaten here many many times and it’s been quite good. Unfortunately when we arrived today we waited at the desk to be seated for more than 10 minutes but were never approached by any member of staff. After a while we became frustrated and left without eating.

This used to be a good choice for an accessible, friendly and good value (and decent quality) lunch, but after several bad experiences recently, we will not be going back. The last time I went with my family, the food was not up to standard and the service was very slow - to the point of being ridiculous. However, the manager at the time was very apologetic and friendly, and offered my family a free lunch to make up for the shortcomings, which he explained were mainly due to a lack of staff. I didn't go to the free lunch that resulted, but apparently it was just the same - very slow service and the food was not hot enough again and had to be returned. Today, however, was the last time we will visit. There was no-one on reception or even on the bar when we arrived, and my infirm, elderly parents were kept waiting at the front door for several minutes, before we went looking for someone. The staff member that we found was rude and unapologetic, and we knew from that moment that this wasn't going to be any improvement on our previous visits, so we left and will not be going back. It is a great shame because it used to be quite good, but cold food and very slow service is bad enough, but being left waiting with elderly/infirm family members and then greeted with a rude, unfriendly and unapologetic staff member was unforgivable.

We were there with our family and a couple of friends and we had indeed a very enjoyable time. The food was great and so was the service. We'll be back soon.

Have been here many times with mixed results but this visit I saw a great improvement since last time. Food was great and staff attentive and friendly.

This is a great spot for lunch. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Their is a varied menu, something for everyone. The staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our food was cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend it to friends. It is great value for money.

We really enjoyed our dinner, nice atmosphere, tasty food and a very good service. Nothing we asked for was a problem, everything delivered with a smile.

Brought my grandchildren for dinner, one of my grandsons suffers from autism and sensory issues and he was made to feel important. Staff adhered to his food wishes making him feel valued and respected. He was very happy and wants to return. I wish more places were like this!

Brilliant breakfast and service from carol. Food was cooked to order. Friendly atmosphere, clean and tidy restaurant. Defo return.

We booked our breakfast as a Christmas treat before the pantomime in Edinburgh. It was a really disappointing experience. To be 100% honest, it was busy and completely understaffed for the amount of bookings they'd taken. You help yourself to the Continental breakfast items and they were OK. It took us 1 hour to be served our cooked breakfast as it was made to order and the staff forgot to take our order until we asked. The food when we eventually got it was nice and hot but as usual on our visits it was the level of service that let it down badly and would put us off going back.

Freezing cold and food poor. When we asked about temperature just told heating not working, we had a toddler who was freezing. Food wasn’t hot or well cooked/presented☹️

Carol was very welcoming and pleasantly greeted us and took our breakfast orders on 5 of the 6 mornings we had breakfast. Breakfast was nicely cooked and enjoyed.

Excellent food and service. We have been visiting Edinburgh for the last 16 years and found this restaurant about 4 years ago. We always stay at the Premier Inn here primarily for the food and service we always receive at Esk Valley Table Table. The food is always well cooked and hot. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Our Edinburgh family always join us for dinner as the menu choices are excellent and you just can't beat the food.

Value for money, good atmosphere, tasty food and amazing staff/service - what more could you ask for - keep up the good work !

My friend and I came for Sunday dinner as part of a meal deal. I could not fault Gary and his team. The team were attentive and informative. The food came out hot and quick and Gary was happy to answer any questions we had. He also gave us some tips on where to visit in Edinburgh. The highlight had to be the cocktails.

There were 6 of us and a baby. We knew that the baby would need to be fed so we asked for a quiet table and when we arrived we were taken to a separate section where we were on our own. The staff were really nice. The decor was lovely. I had fish and chips and it was a huge portion and very tasty! The puddings were well worth the money! We'll be back!

Had I visited the ladies in prior to being seated I would have left. The disabled toilet downstairs was in such a disgusting state I decided to walk upstairs to the main ladies. Every cubicle was left in an unacceptable state faeces in varying states of condition..dried on /piled inside toilets..in every single cubicle..the carpet was flooded and puddling..with what I shudder to think. When I reported it was was met with "we know someone else has reported it" no action no apologies clearly the toilets had not been inspected that day at all. Couldn't get out quickly enough.. left without using the facilities... absolutely disgusting

Today my friend and I had lunch. The table service was excellent. I suffer from claustrophobia I waa seated as requested by a window. The food was perfect and compliments to the chef who made my Gammon steak exactly as I wanted. The service from start to finish was friendly and inviting. Thank you

We were staying at the premier inn so came here prior to checking in for a drink. I am medically exempt from wearing a mask and in the uk don’t need to prove this. On arrival I got told to wear a mask and when I mentioned I was exempt I got told I needed to wear proof with a lanyard round my neck and in Scotland it’s the law. I didn’t have this so had to go find a mask which I had got one as my partner had bought a pack and wear a mask, i shouldn’t have been made to do this. After visiting Edinburgh and not having to wear a mask anywhere I did a bit of research and realised the Information I was given was wrong and I should never have been made to explain my exception or go get a mask.The food was overpriced and average. My partner ordered a steak and ordered rare and it was almost cremated and very chewy with no pink at all. We had a member of staff come to our table 5 times during the meal asking if we had finished yet so he could take the plates which was a little odd. If I was to stay in this premier inn again o wouldn’t visit this restaurant

We often stay at the Premier Inn next door to this pub restaurant and look forward to visiting it. The staff are really friendly and helpful - consistently so. The menu is fine and food good and they have vegetarian options which pleases us. Covid precautions are well in place and we had another excellent visit in September this year. We definitely recommend it and thanks to the staff for being so friendly,

Never been before, but as we are staying at Premier Inn Dalkeith, we booked a table at Esk Valley Table Table. Lorraine attended us, and as my wife has dietary issues, we made various menu ingredients enquiries. Lorraine went above and beyond to let us know what we needed to know. Her service was friendly without over-familiarity, and the food was very good indeed. We had a relaxed and very reasonably priced evening meal and drink which washed away the hours of the gruelling journey to get here. The covid safety precautions were good, and we felt safe and relaxed. Highly recommended.

Today we visited Table Table in Esk Valley out first visit for a long time.Again great staff great service and good food.Staff pleasant and friendly happy to help although sadly one of our favourites is leaving she will be missed by us.This is a great place to eat and all covid stuff is taken care of.Happy to be back thank you

Amazing service from all of the team members. All food and drinks came to the table quickly and not long to wait. Service was especially great from Lorraine who was very helpful with a meal deal for the whole family! She was very honest with all the deals and helped out so much! Service was rushed got sat in the corner was quite dark, table was dirty from set off,noticed lots of dust round the window where we got sat also,my partner got the steak pie was quite tasteless pastry was too hard the mash was dry and tasteless also green beans was hard,I had the mixed grill steak was undercooked the gammon was under cooked also the grease off the to fryed eggs was everywhere on my plate wasn't nice never brought out the salad what was supposed to come with it must wouldn't of made a difference I mentioned this to the waitress no apologies just you want to make a complaint which I said no don't bother but really should have spoken to the manager but didn't want to make a scene got the bill and paid full price told the waitress that we wouldn't be back only to get told that's fine still no apologies and just left us to leave absolutely dumbfounded

Stayed in the adjoining premier inn, we didn’t have breakfast but thought we’d get some take away coffees in the room. Waited at the “wait here to be seated” for 5 mins with only myself in the queue to begin with, until I was joined by others. A man came up asked for name and I said I was just wondering if I could have take away coffee. Rather rudely he said we don’t do take away. I said I’m stopping in the hotel next door. To be told well we are very busy pointing to the queue behind me. He then spoke to someone at the bar and I was directed over. By which time I felt really uncomfortable so I told the gentleman on the bar how rude the host was and I was now going to leave it. If the host had returned to the station instead of leaving it for over 5 mins then he wouldn’t have had a queue. I guess just 3 coffee wasn’t good enough as I didn’t want full breakfast. Manners cost nothing! Very rude host!!!

Member of staff, Holly was a joy. Very busy in the restaurant but I watched her work the tables with flair and efficiency. Nothing was too much trouble and she was cheery and helpful - a credit to the company.

Breakfast with friends, was excellent value at £9.50 with a great choice. Service was quick and friendly staff, covid measures in place, will return again soon.

Revisited table table 1st time after lock down. Was very impressed with all covid measures in place. Friends and I felt very safe. Our waitress Lorraine looked after us exceptional well and recommended our menu choices. Service was excellent. Food was very good. At the end of our meal we produced our blue light card , and was accepted with no problems. Will definitely be returning to table table.

Our enjoyment of dinner here was greatly enhanced by the professionalism, efficiency and friendliness of staff member Hollie (waitress and team leader). We felt very welcomed and looked after by her and enjoyed watching her interacting with our fellow guests and encouraging her team clearly and calmly during a busy service.We returned the following evening and were delighted that she was on duty. She remembered details despite all the people she must have seen. She is to be highly commended for her dedication and obvious enjoyment in her work. Thank you Hollie!

We were really disappointed with the quality of the food here particularly the evening meal. Breakfast was better. Sadly the staff could have been more friendly. Would not book the meal deal with Premier Inn if we were to book to stay again.
