The quality of the food is Terrible. This was frozen cod and frozen chips then on to frozen apple pie. Absolutely terrible. We were given tea and coffee and both were cold. Cups were dirty and smelt terrible. You really need to up your game here. Waiter was so blasé

Nice hotel outside of central Bangor but easy walking distance back. Nice views of the bay on a clear day and right by the pier. Rooms are pleasant, like others have said a little dated but part of the charm. Guests with mobility issues should request a room on the ground floor had the stairs up to the top floors are very steep & narrow. Really friendly staff on reception & in the restaurant. Didn't have the breakfast but dinner was nice, excellent waitress service from the young woman working that evening and the chef came out to check we we're enjoying it (we told him we'd climbed Snowdon that day and were starving and I'm pretty sure he gave us bigger portions). Overall a very nice stay.

The staff at the Eryl Mor are very friendly and helpful. Sadly the food is average, although breakfast is very good. The room was "tired" and the lighting dreadful. The bathroom had been modernised and the shower was excellent. The steps up to the "annex" building are steep and poorly lit making them "risky" at night

Following my fathers cremation we booked Eryl Mor for the "wake". It was recommended as I hadnt visited before and was very near the Crematorium. What a perfect venue... From the view above Bangor Pier over the Menai Straits to the delicious food and wonderful staff. Nothing could've been been improved The food was scrumptious and plentiful ... sandwiches, sausage rolls and cheese pastries with home made cakes to follow and scones with jam and cream which were amazing! The staff were discreet attentive polite and friendly. Busy refilling our cups with endless tea and coffee. We weren't rushed to leave and had no desire to. I highly recommend the Eryl Mor for a funeral tea and I will be returning there for a drink and food in the near future. Thank you Eryl Mor for turning a sad occasion into a very happy family reunion

The staff are lovely and the view from our room 24 was marvelous. But this is a tired and tatty hotel for the amount of money paid. Also the shower was thick with mould and smelt bad. Bed was creaky and uncomfortable. I feel we paid for the view and the rest was not really worth the cost.

I am on a bit of an adventure with a friend visiting, using public transport, the 8 castles of Edward 1. The journey and experience so far has been glorious with differing standards of both accommodation and eating experiences. Bangor is our last stop and we are staying at the University in Halls of residence while visiting both Beaumaris and Caernarfon castles. This evening we had booked into the Eryl Mor. We had read reviews and seen the pictures and thought as it was only a short walk from our accommodation we would give it a go. The experience was nothing short of woeful. The worst part of the experience was no compliance with the Covid restrictions that are still in place here in Wales. We mentioned on arrival that we had booked but our name was not taken neither were we asked as you are in Wales to complete a track and trace form. We walked into the bar area to enquire where are table was only to be laughed at by three women sitting in the bar because we were wearing masks. They talked amongst themselves saying they did not even know where their masks were. They were residents but they still should have been wearing masks when walking round the hotel which they did not. They had a downstairs room with 2 dogs in that barked the whole time we were eating. The greenhouse type restaurant did have a lovely view of the sea but it was a sad place. You would have thought some work might have been done on it during lockdown but no. The roof had not seen a good wash in a while covered in seagull poo. The meal was OK but the service was poor, the ambience non existent. Another thing to add is that the picture you see of this hotel is not the building the restaurant is attached to nor the building the guests seemed to be staying in but one next door. Not often I write a review on Trip Advisor but this morning after the night before I am feeling really angry mainly due to the Covid non compliance which has been so rigorous during the rest of our trip.

Ordered two Sunday dinners from here today, one was with veggie sausages and other different meats, the wait was half an hour which is ok, but after waiting another 10 minutes after arriving to collect we then got the food home to a stone cold Sunday dinner!!! I'm still in shock how it could be served that cold and especially after waiting 40 minutes for it!! The meat was very very dry, veggie sausages were probably the worst we have tasted, everything was very bland, will not be going here again!!

I have always found Eryl Mor to be a solid hotel. Nothing fancy but a rooms OK and good food for the price.I was therefore pleased to be offered a “half price rate” given that the rate I was about to book at was £57 I was surprised on arrival to find staff had been left a note quoting £99 for two nights and although I had more than once checked the rate I was told the advertised rate was £66 per night. Still £99 for two nights is not right. On arrival the Covid regulations meant the usual standards were not in place but I did not expect folding tables with plastic tubs of cereal most of which was on the floor. Not having paid I took the walk out the door option. On calling the hotel I got through to an individual who told me he was “taking all calls”. Why so? It appeared to me that a new management style was in place and that the old faces had gone! It also felt like a “Ghost Ship” or “sinking ship”Do not fall for half price offers, or indeed any offer. Do not expect the old Eryl Mor, or expect warm tea, or tea in a pot, or on a tray.A sad day for me but at least I had not paid up front. Be very careful or find somewhere else.

Where do I start! We booked a table for 8 adults for my parents 30th Pearl Anniversary! The Table was booked well in advance (week before) . We arrived at 7:20pm and table was booked for 7:30pm so slightly earlier and we were shown where to be seated, we went to the bar which was pleasantly really modern and ordered our drinks separate to our food bill, at 7:35pm we had to ask for our menus and we ordered our starters by 7:45, (staff was no where to be seen we had to ask for service). Our starters took until 8:50pm to arrive 1HR AND 5 MINUTES LATER!! And was told when the starters were coming out that with the mains we had ordered weren't available! (This took the staff or chef 1hr and 5 minutes to notify us) They told us that they had a massive order and that they were extremely busy! Where these people were hiding I have no idea as the place was empty! If there was we assumed that this was the cause of most of our meals no longer being available. And I must say when the starters arrived it was nothing to special! Once we finished our starters we had to ask for our plates to be removed! And staff said that the chef has just started on our mains. We ordered more drinks while we were waiting. The wait for the mains ended up being longer and let to us asking to speak to the manager as by this time we had been waiting for over an 1hr and 30 minutes and still no sign of our mains! The manager came down stairs eventually and seemed to have a no care attitude. We explained that service was taking to long and had concerns for the pregnant lady in the party that had nothing to eat since we arrived at 7:20pm. The response was a sheepish ‘I will sort out the bill later and will see where our fod is and get them out as soon as possible and walked away!’ There was no apology he left the front line staff to do this and vanished (we were that close to walk out as its now been another hour and still no mains’ following discussing with the manager.’ It’s a shame as this place had had a lovely refurbishment but the food lets it down. Having a long wait time would have made up for great food and service but unfortunately there was neither. Eventually the food arrived and all the orders were incorrect and the steaks were atrocious. The general feeling I had was the staff were pretty clueless and were left in the lurch to try and rectify a disaster in the making! Following the foods arrival long story short all the orders being incorrect all the steaks overcooked and food general being cold. We asked to speak to the manager once again as if this wasn’t bad enough the manager went into hiding and sent out the Chef to appologies. The response was something along the lines ‘ ill make you all a curry to rectify the issue?’ At this point it was so baffling let alone the terrible food but the response by management – front of house staff?. We refused to pay for the food , a kind staff member did come out to apologies and said the bill would be forgotten about and for us to leave. This was very disappointing let alone did we not only feel bad for the waiters who were left in the lurch to try and deal with the situation without any support but they overall ruined and evening of celebration. On the plus side we did end up getting a brilliant take away curry at 10:40pm from our local restaurant I suppose there is always a silver lining. All I can say is avoid if you want to have good service and good food.Just to note this is the first bad review that I have left for a hotel/restaurant I am very disappointed that I had to leave this review especially on a local restaurant, but unfortunately as it was so bizarre I had to leave a note of caution for others don’t waist your time or money!

I came here for a meal on Mothering Sunday with family and friends. We had a bit of a wait when we got there and had to be moved a few tables, however, we finally got sat down and enjoyed our meal. For the price the food was adequate. The beef was nice, but the turkey was quite dry. The mash potato tasted a lot like smash, rather than actual potato. I'd probably go again, because the price was so reasonable.

Absolutely can’t fault the homemade roast dinners on offer. My husband ordered a large roast dinner (which was enormous) and my children and I ordered children’s roast (which were large enough). All the meats, potatoes, vegetables & gravy were obviously home made & so delicious. What a great find & prices are very reasonable, however it’s wise to book as it gets rather busy.

My wife and I visited Bangor for the day during a one week holiday in the Llyn peninsula. As we had discovered during this week we had come to north wales slightly out of season therefore many places were closed during the day which sometimes made finding somewhere good for lunch rather difficult at times. After trying a place on the pier (we had seen on tripadvisor) that was again closed we walked back to where we had parked the car and noticed a sign on the side of this hotel advertising afternoon teas and although we were unsure of what we wanted to eat we decided to give it a try. There was a nice conservatory and an outside seating area where we could sit with our dog while enjoying the sea view. We ordered the afternoon tea for 2 which was £14 which considering some of the places we had eaten in seemed very reasonable, when it arrived it could have easily been afternoon tea for three! There was a selection of sandwiches (chicken salad, egg mayo and tuna), sausage rolls, a selection of cakes (vanilla slice, macaroons, Victoria sponge and blueberry muffin) finished off with jam and clotted cream scones and unlimited tea, all of which were very nice and presented well. The lady who served us was also very nice and friendly and brought us some sausages she had left over from breakfast for the dog, it turned out to be just what we needed after being disappointed at a few other places. I would definitely try this hotel again and have a full lunch or evening meal so I can add to this review, as we only had a short stop for afternoon tea it’s difficult to review the restaurant as a whole but if the main menu is as pleasant as what we had then I would definitely recommend it!

I stayed for 3 nights B&B in an attic bedroom which was tastefully decorated and furnished - two comfortable single beds, a seating area and a well equipped bathroom with a shower above the bath. Tea/coffee, Freeview tv and also inclusive Wi-Fi use for guests were available in my room. It was comfortable, clean and quiet with spectacular views from my bedroom window of Afon Menai / Menai Straits, Ynys Mon / Anglesey and along the coast to Llandudno. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi connection was poor at times which could be due to my attic bedroom's location. There's also no lift and had to carry my luggage up numerous flights of stairs, some of them quite narrow. The breakfast was good and even though the cooked breakfast seemed to be of good quality, it gave the impression that perhaps not all of the ingredients were cooked fresh to order that morning! I felt 'rushed' at breakfast as my cooked breakfast arrived before I had finished my cereal. The staff were polite and efficient but I didn't feel 'welcomed' at breakfast nor at Reception on my arrival. This hotel has the potential to be excellent so as to match it's wonderful location and spectacular views.

Our plates were piled up with tender meats and freshly cooked veg. Their home made deserts are really nice too. I recommend the Mint Aero Cheesecake. The only reason I can't bring myself to give this a 5* rating is because the dining environment, crockery and table setting lacked any class. The plate was too small for the amount of food on it and the plates and cuttlery were very basic. Also, had to ask twice for some extra gravy but that's no big issue.

We were staying so ate there after a long journey. Helpful, friendly staff. There was enough food for 8 served to the 4 of us. With wine it was under £20 a head. We had 2 courses. Food was ok, hot and filling.

lovely Sunday lunch served here plenty of food, very tasty, friendly waitresses, very reasonable prices - you won`t get a better Sunday lunch anywhere in the area and if you are hungry and like a decent size portion on your plate then Eryl Mor is the place to eat - you won`t be disappointed

Stayed here two nights again. For me this its an ideal place to stay, reasonable, friendly and reliable and very well situated. Tonight is Valentine's night and Gaynor is in the kitchen and I was served up the best shank of lamb replete with ample vegetables including excellent cauliflower cheese. I gather she usually presides only over Sunday lunches.

I`ve been going here a few weeks for sunday lunch recently and the food and service has been very good, However it all changed, the waiter accidentally spilt my roast dinner all over me which burnt me and made a mess on my clothes, also gravy went all over the wall beside me, then the owner came with a dirty tea towel and started to wipe the side of my plate with it and gave me one square paper towel to clean myself up. I admit accidents happen and the waiter couldn`t apologies enough so i didn`t make a big deal even though i was annoyed. the owner didn`t offer a refund, a free dessert or a an offer to pay for my cleaning bill, also no accident book was filled. we also asked for mint sauce twice which we got as we were finishing our meals. It`s a shame but i will not be going here again and i don`t recommend anyone else to go there either, it stinks of damp anyhow! And the little guy with the glasses wasn`t there today and he is really good.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch today. Melt in your mouth roast beef and gravy (you could also have pork, lamb or turkey) roast, mashed AND new potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, peas, mashed carrot and swede. We asked for extra gravy which was duly supplied. Very quick service and friendly. You were asked if we wanted a large or a small portion so we went for the large - I haven't eaten as much for a long time. Tap water again was free. Fantastic value for £6.50. I would recommend that if you want to eat in the conservatory you should book beforehand. The view from there is beautiful. We were seated inside which was fine, ok in need of a bit of a makeover but highly recommended. They also do takeaway food.

Can't remember if this was 2 or 3 star to be honest. Room was quite small and pokey. Where I saw other rooms which were much nicer. Luck of the draw I suppose. Good grub and nice staff however overlooking The Menai Straits, Anglesey and the Pier!!

the view is beautiful... when u see it from outside the building leaves a really good impression ... when u go in .. things change a lil bit. First there are 10 15 steps to arrive to the reception ... if u have a heavy luggage it's really unconfortable.. then u go in the room. the room is ok, good beds.. but the shower kept losing a piece everytime i used it, the tv had no remote.. apparently people stole them, the tv was flat and hanging high on the wall.. if u wanted to watch it laying in bed u couldn't see nothing. Then the service ... the waitress come everymorning to clean the room but everything she does is to set the bed and leave some cookies.. all the dirt on the floor stays there... then breakfast is served on plastic table cloths and the two waitresses are sort of rude with the guests... one morning i asked to give me a full "cup" of milk ... cause milk and sugar stay open on the table everymorning and the sugar all day long ... which i find not really higienic .. so when i came to breakfast my cup was half empty cause the client before me maybe drank it .. and the lady not nicely argued with me cause i wanted a new one ... then one morning there were 4 arabic men not speaking a very good english and ordering breakfast not all together but one thing at the time ... the waitress first didn't help them at all explaining how breakfast worked but then started yelling at them that they couldn't order things separatly ... if the hotel were mine i would have fired her right the way.concluding it's ok to stay there for a couple nights but there's no clue on the meaning of hospitality and the price for a single room should be 30 pounds.

Great views over the Menai Straight (perfect when it is a bit cool to sit outside)The 4 of us had each chosen a different meal. All 4 meals turned up within 20 minutes, hot, plentiful and delicious, even the cheap ones. The beer pump had a problem but the staff was very apologetic. The inside is in need of refurbishment, so if necessary, just walk fast to the loo and come back to the magnificent view!

The place was filthy, the chairs were covered in food debris & dust from years gone by, and there was a generally shoddy appearance. Whilst waiting for the food to come, we ordered drinks, when they came there were bits of something white floating in them. The side salad was brown & limp, mushrooms looked like they had been recyled from breakfast, but to top it all off there were dogs walking around the food area and we were appalled to witness the waitress on her knees cuddling the dogs, resulting in her clothing being contaminated with dog hair bearing in mind she'd used her sleaves to carry our food to the table. When we complained about this we were told they had a dog friendly policy ! hence why they were feeding the dogs in the restaurant. Never will I set foot in the place again

What a great spot! We had a great visit to this secluded pub on the beach. There are two places you can park, at the Golf Club car park with a cost of around five pounds through an app, from here you walk over the golf course on the path/road to the pub. Or, you can park further down on the National Trust car park and walk along the beach to the pub. We parked at the golf club, walked over the golf course and then walked back along the beach and back up to the golf car park. The beach walk is great. There was a DJ on when we went and that gave it a good atmosphere outside we did not sit inside as the weather was OK. Food was available although we did not order anything. Friendly staff who served at the outside bar. Be careful of the closing times as that can be early if there is not an event on.

Meifod Country House is perfectly positioned for Caernarfon, Anglesey, the mountains and the coast. It’s a lovely old building, extremely comfortable and the staff are delightful. The house is decorated to a high standard and the antique furniture is beautiful. Tripadvisor needs updating as there is no restaurant at Meifod House. The only food available is breakfast - standard help yourself continental and what looked like well cooked hot breakfast if requested (we didn’t have cooked breakfast). We only saw and met two staff during our stay, both of whom looked after us very well - nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom (Brymer), overlooks the field to the side of the property. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. The bathroom is huge, with a double ended bath and shower attachment attached to the taps (no actual shower). Good big towels, high quality bed linen, and a fridge in the room. When we return to the area we will stay here again. I recommend it highly.

Stopped for breakfast in the cafe, it was lovely. The small breakfast is big enough for most! Cafe clean, staff friendly and importantly the toilets were very clean. Highly recommended 👍

First and last time that I use this place. Over inflated price for two bottles of pop. Can only assume that the extra £1.60 charged , was for the sponsored silence that every customer before and after us was greeted with by the member of staff serving.
